I joined a free tour on Wednesday with my 11 weeks baby. They started on time and the guide drove all of us to an exterior and interior tour. This place is worth to visit for its peculiar architecture and historical value. Even not a palce for kids, I was welcomed to join and they provided me a room for breastfeeding. Thank you!

I took the Wednesday tour today and enjoyed stepping back in time at this place. The guide was full of historical knowledge as well as specific facts of this home. Best of all, it was free!

Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright are major figures in American architecture. Sullivan, Wright's architectural mentor, hired the younger man in 1887 as a draftsman to assist with producing construction drawings for the Auditorium Building (1887–1889) in Chicago. As a junior draftsman, Wright also assisted with residential commissions such as the James Charnley House (1891–1892)

Went to check it out Wednesday at noon since they do a free tour. They started 10min early, so that was surprising and people got turned away who came on time. You'll enter through the patio door not the main door of the house. The tour went by a little slow for me, but I am not really patient. Lots of background information before we even started the tour. There were a few really cool architectural pieces like the wooden stairwell lit by the above skylight but there really isn't too much to see.

I went on the free tour that they have on Wednesdays and it was an awesome experience. The house is beautiful and full of history, dating back to 1892 (if I was listening correctly). It was designed by Louis Sullivan and is full of arches and gorgeous woodworking. It is something that anyone with some free time should come and see.

Jean gave an excellent tour. She knew the Charnley House inside & out, kept her presentation conversational, and fielded questions expertly.

Come to see the house, but also fall in love with the neighborhood. If you love history, come see what home were built before the sky rises, but after the Chicago fire.

Went for a Wednesday tour and was wowed by the docent's knowledge and experience. The house is small but the information is well worth the time. Wednesday tours at 12pm are free but sign up in advance online.

So cool to see a Sullivan building in person! Unfortunately, this house has almost no original furniture, and many of the rooms are used as offices and cannot be viewed.

Delightful tour of an intriguing city Home. I quite liked the scale of it!

Our lovely docent had to spend the entire tour explaining it's a Sullivan house, not a Wright house. I bet she has to do that a lot.
