The field house overall is basically community based people. Regulars go here often to swim, play basketball, dance lessons, football and baseball games. Also, it has an after school and summer programs. The staff are fine, but if you would like to swim, you need to call for the schedule and getting through the lines sometimes sucks! Only downer to this is that there is a homeless shelter across the street, so the area may be filled with people outside or across from the park. They don't bother anyone, just a heads up.

Great turf field! Not much parking available next to the park, and all entrances are on the south side. Additional parking available at Chicago Hope Academy across the street.

Nice clean park and field house. Turf field is nice, but can be small and a little dangerous if baseball / softball teams are playing on all four fields. Players in one field can easily hit a baseball on to the infield of the other game. But all in all a great facility.

Great practice field and basketball facilities, but there are a lot of bums that stay in the park all day. Not somewhere I'd take kids to the park unless you are with a group.

The synthetic field for soccer is why we go here. The playing field itself is great. The access to the field is what brings the points down. Parking is limited so sometimes we have to park around the corner or on the other side of the park but all the gates on the other side are LOCKED, forcing you to walk ALL the way around the park and the field to access the only opening. Some Sundays it's open which is great but it's a hit or miss type of thing. Same goes for the bathrooms. Bathrooms and bath houses are near by (the park has a seasonal pool) but they are LOCKED on most days. So you are forced to drive to a nearby business to use a restroom.

Changing part of the near west side of Chicago. Park is pretty well maintained and across from a new basketball facility. Lots of homeless people hanging out though as there is a soup kitchen or homeless shelter right there too.

Soccer filed is great. I've been playing on it, alongside my club for the Mexican League, for the past 4 summers. #PiqueCF

Good park except no access to bathrooms at times plus too many homeless people around the park without any supervision specially since many children are present daily

The Chicago park district has sold out again they let some white people come to the neighborhood an lock the park up an now our kids in the neighborhood can't go to the park an play but the kids from other neighborhoods are there practicing an playing games all the time while the neighborhood kids are on the other side of the fence watching them

I was just there today for the Spring festival and I love this park. I had visit four parks for eastern festival since last Friday and Altgeld park is been the best of all. The stuff were very nice and helpful. The Spring festival was amazing they had activities, egg hunt, a lot of prices ( we didn't win anything 😔) and the best of all are the pictures with bunny; The pictures look very professional just like the ones at the mall where you pay $30 dollars for.
