It is very unacceptable for a childrenā€™s ER to look this way. The benches are filthy! It literally looks like viruses and bacteria are just sitting there(kind of the case) but this is just not right. You all really need to do better with the cleanliness in this department. Also some of the restrooms in the triage area were disgusting! I wasnā€™t able to get pictures of that but I did get pictures of the ER. I pray you all fix this ASAP! We deserve a better environment.

I think it's so unfair to have sick children waiting for hours to see a doctor. I waited 3 hours watch so Many children come in before my son .once I told them he may have COVID then. The nurse noticed he didn't have a mask on. She treated us wrong all because we ask how long. All I wanted was for him to be tested. But we had to wait 3 hours and for the nurse to talk horrible to you as if you are any less then the other children.

The staff is generally nice, but the conditions of the hospital are unclean. Also, itā€™s almost November 2023, and they are still obsessed with COVID rules. They only let 2 visitors in at a time, causing whole families to be separated and having to do constant rotations to see their loved ones. Itā€™s sick. Somehow itā€™s safe for 25 people to sit in the lobby but itā€™s unsafe for 3 family members to be in the same hospital room. And the security and staff get off on enforcing such a fake and outdated policy. Go to a different hospital.

They have never in my 17 years of sending my two kids here let me down! Both my kids were born here....my daughter has had two major surgery. And my son one minor surgery the doctors calmed and reassured us through all the procedures. If you have to visit the e.r they're very accommodating and move quickly to get you seen. I also love how they'll send a child life specialist around to calm your child through the process. The waiting area and rooms are really nice and clean. All the doctors and staff go above and beyond. I really don't have a bad word to say about this place. Lastly, it's really appreciated that parents are provided three meals during the stay....so we can just concentrate on our children. THANKS COMERS!!!!!

First, I got to Comer Children's ER today at @6:07am. The two receptionists were both sleeping with a blanket. Secondly, all the receptionists in Comer need training. They are so unprofessional, and the security is as well. Even when I called to make an appointment, they sounded like you were getting the service free they were so rude and unprofessional. Some months ago, the valet guy that parked my car stole my perfume from my vehicle. Since the Covid thing has changed, the Administrator should do something about that place, please. Not every one of them, thou the Nurses and Doctors, are doing a great job. And to those doing the job genuinely, God bless all of you. Your reward is in heaven

The doctors, nurses, nurses assistants and X-ray techs are awesome. The security staff is the WORST I have seen from ANY establishment. The first faces you see are rude, half sleep and donā€™t seem to be knowledgeable of policies and procedures. Something should really be done. Customer service is everything, even in a hospital. I would give 5 stars if it werenā€™t for the security personnel. Glad that we are leaving today and I pray we never have to come here again

One of the worst hospitals to come to. I have been here a couple of times because of a family members and always a bad experience. I feel that itā€™s one the most racist hospitals that I ever have come to. Never a good experience here EVER.

11/30 After spending 4 hours at a different (at capacity) ED, we decided to go to Comers. At midnight, the waiting room was empty and we were triaged right away. While waiting to complete registration, a nurse came out and took us to the back right away. Had two nurses come in to evaluate and a Dr followed soon after. From walking in to being seen by a Dr. and treated, was two and a half hours and that's only because we had to wait for medication to take effect. Staff was kind, caring and patient with a smart and tough toddler that doesn't let anything past him. Discharge could've been better but that's my only complaint. Great services rendered.

It was a horrible experience the Doctor's were horrible they removed my Grandson's shunt with know plan to do afterwards. Within a month my Grandson went into Organ shutdown. They sent him home and told us he was fine. A little over 24 hour's later he ended up a t another hospital that told us the truth that he was in kidney failure he went to the other hospital on April 8th sent home on the 22nd so he could pass surrounded by family . Comers did not care about Jeremiah Lee at all . They had about 5 nurse's that cared . The Doctor's lied to you and none of them said the same thing. And don't get me going about there Neurologist they were horrible had to finish stitching his head up in his room after surgery I wouldn't send my wore enemy their . That hospital is horrible the security was right they was gonna kill my grandson and they did . Melissa Lee

NOT WORTH THE RISK DO NOT GO HERE!! Absolutely the worst er visit ever in life.....over ten hours later....and no results ...we have to go somewhere else to get treated...this hospital is despicable at best. Thatā€™s how terrible both the conditions and the people are....honestly would write more but Iā€™m super disappointed and this is not worth my time...just wanted to share my horrible experience here to try and save anyone who is coming here....DO NOT GO HERE

I'm in shock at the bad reviews. Maybe I was lucky on my visit for my daughter. This was our first time here. She was transferred here from another hospital because she needed to be seen by a hematology doctor. All the nurses and doctors that came in and helped I couldn't thank them enough. They really took the time to talk and answer any questions without making you feel stupid or rushing. They treated us so well there. Even gave my daughter a toy. The only complaint is the room could of been a little more updated.

This review is long overdue my son has cancer and was there from Aug 6 until Aug 18 2021 to retrieve his stem cells the nurses were very polite and respectful that wasnā€™t the problem the problem was their skills at the time my son had a central line and he was on TPN ( itā€™s a nutrition support) TPN is changed every 24 hours unless you are being weened off or have it for less hours which it was changed every 24 hours. However his central line the caps were changed once a week these are supposed to be changed every 3-4 days and are supposed to be changed after every blood or platelet transfusion and they were not this resulted in my son getting a infection now the infection team they have were amazing. We decided after our stay we didnā€™t want his next part of treatment there the final straw was at the time my son was on a seizure Med which those HAVE to be given at a exact time every day within a hour before or after his time was 9 so he could get it anytime between 8-10 my son is night owl he normally wakes up around 11-12 every day for a week and a half we would wake up and his seizure Med would be sitting right there on his table not given and anywhere between 1-2 sometimes even 3 hours late. Basically nurses were lying in their charting when you leave a Med in a patientā€™s room you must scan it in you chart it as given the way I found out is I asked night shift what time does it say that my son got this Med. Luckily my son was on this Med as preventative he has never had a seizure. The other little things were EVS never comes we would have garbage spilling over for days and nurses donā€™t do the bedside hand off you see your day shift nurse last around 5 and then around 9 your night shift nurse comes in. Also the communication between nurses and security is ridiculous nurses say one thing and security says thatā€™s not true thatā€™s not how we do it when it pertains to the overnight parents. 3 weeks was long enough here every day was a headache.

The worst doctor/surgeon ever!!! I got jaw surgery back in September of 2019 because of pain that I was dealing with and jaw popping. I figured since I had been to the university of Chicago other times it would be ok for me to go here for this. Prior to surgery I was able to open my mouth, but ever since I had this surgery (with this horrible person who is obviously not specialized in my situation) I can no longer open my mouth to eat at all. I can only slightly open my mouth at least 3 centimeters. I didnā€™t even get therapy right away due to his negligence. When I did go back months later for another visit he gave me something called a therabite (which should have been given to me after surgery) that he himself didnā€™t know how to use and told me to ā€œlook it up on YouTube and use itā€. Iā€™ve been to a few doctors since then who have even told me what he did wasnā€™t right overall. Until this day Iā€™m in more pain than I was before this surgery and I still CAN NOT OPEN MY MOUTH AND IT HURTS. I would not wish this on anyone. If I could rewind back time I definitely would not have went to doctor Russell Reid at the University of Chicago. HE SHOULD BE FIRED!

This hospital needs to make sure they hire people that actually want to care for people and not just there for a paycheck ! I took my 4 year old son and I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIX FACILITY AGAIN ! After 30 mins of sitting in the lobby we got escorted back only to be forgotten about for at least 4 hours ! A boy that had to be at least 13 was next door to us was upset . Instead of staff taking proper precautions a lot of them including nurses AND security stood around his room laughing and making snide comments . I shouldā€™ve left then but I thought my son was having seizures so I decided to stay . After a slight evaluation this psychiatrist comes in and tells me itā€™s not a seizure and that the neurologist can only make us a few outpatient appointments. I asked if I could speak with him/ her and the broad tell me Iā€™ll see if they will consider coming down . Then says but if they come down will you take him home and just take the outpatient appointments šŸ¤¢ I was beyond disappointed because I was clearly a mother watching my son go through pain that he couldnā€™t stop ! Never take your kids here ! Luries Hospital will do right by you and your children

This hospital for children is terrible!! The kids wait in the waiting room too long!! A child should not be in the emergency room over 6hrs unless they are being emitted to the hospital!! The children are being treated like adults! There system it not the same! When they hurt! They hurt!! What the hell is going on at Comerā€™s hospital!!

My child was shipped here for a broken arm. The only thing good about this hospital is the doctors. The nurses didn't know what they we're doing half the time. The radiology department was terrible. The nurse brought me and my son down there and we sat in the x-ray room for almost 20 minutes with no one in the room when they finally came in they didn't even know his name, there was a lady with her shoes off in the office. And then after only a few hours of sleep they tried doing x-rays again knowing the fact he doesn't get more until after they set his broken arm. I do not recommend this place at all

I came in at 12:07 and they told me it would be a 7/8 hour wait which was fine so I waited and right when it was my turn to get called they told me I had to wait because I have 3 kids then proceeded to call 4 other people to go to the back. Not only that there was a child with a split open head in the waiting area for 12hrs. Lots of people left because out of no where they stopped calling peoples name and when palm colored people came in they were getting sent straight to the back no waiting. A lot of people noticed and complained but the nurses (also palm colored) said it was in order of urgency (but there was a child with a split head in the waiting room for 12hrs)

Besides the ER wait time which was approximately (2hrs 30 mins) This is one of the best Hospitals in Chicago. Once my daughter was seen by the ER Nurses and Doctors her condition was very alarming .They worked hard diligently to improve her health since it was a matter of life and death at that point. and was told she was being admitted 15mins after being evaluated. The ER and PICU staff were great and knowledgeable and could tell they weā€™re really concerned and wanted the best for her. 4 days later she was back to her normal healthy self and Iā€™m so grateful for all the nurses and doctors that took care of her.

This hospital has changed drastically. I took my 16-year-old here for fever, sore throat, no appetite, vomiting, weakness. Was told she tested positive for strep throat. She was prescribed antibiotics. After 3 days on medication, she got worst, I bought her back, she had fever, trouble breathing, body aches, vomiting, weakness, was not producing urine, they said she has a UTI. I explained to them she was hospitalized at this same hospital last year with sepsis. They prescribed a different medication for the UTI, her fever spiked to 103 last night, I am giving the antibiotic time to work. This hospital did not take into consideration my daughter previously had sepsis. Her blood and urine results are not being put on MyChart. I will be contacting this hospital to complain, my daughter can be really sick, but these new doctors just will not admit her. If I have to take my daughter to a different hospital for a third time and she does get admitted and has sepsis again, I will be contacting an attorney. The new doctors are not caring, empathetic, has no compassion. They halfway do their jobs; everything is prescribing medication and send the child home.

Disgusting care performed here. Instead of awnsering lights and doing their jobs nurses would literally rather tell you they know what they are doing instead of listening to your concerns. Night shift gossips all night long so much so that it sounds like a 90ā€™s kickback party. If you care about your childā€™s well being I wouldnā€™t even recommend this place as an animal hospital. This is the worst care any of my children have ever received. Oh and donā€™t think you can take your child elsewhere if youā€™re already in the er as they will call dcfs on you even though they cannot perform their jobs. There is no communication between staff or staff to patients. I will never be back sincerely room 4. And yes you guys do need state to be called if I could give 0 stars I would ! (Hereā€™s a picture of my childā€™s arm due to neglect of this place by the way ) we only seen a nurse 2 times in 12 hours last night

Iā€™ve been to this hospital twice, once when my son was hospitalized and now that my daughter was hospitalized , both times I can say doctors were great and nurses were great (except two nurses whom didnā€™t care much for my daughter they would go in and out like they hated their job ) but both times Iā€™ve had a bad experience with Securityā€™s , they seem like they are either high and donā€™t know whatā€™s going on around them, or them seem like they donā€™t know what their job is , they sit there chit chatting and take forever to either assist you or they act like they donā€™t know what you ask them when you ask them something. They seem annoyed as a matter of fact , when they are asked something , when I went to the ER I didnā€™t get a ticket the gate was open, when we were admitted I go down to move my vehicle and I asked the security how could I go about it , she didnā€™t bother not even one second to leave her phone down and get up or even try to tell me , she said go inside and ask a nurse I didnā€™t know what you talking about . This hospital will go to nothing if this continues , please someone read the reviews and most people talk about the awful securityā€™s . Also we got to our room cleaned only once while there . Once . No one bothered to clean nor to pick up the trays . If I can ever avoid it again I will do so .

They don't care about the emergency of the kids my son came in head busted open bleed so badly a dry towel was fill with blood they told me to have a seat in the first row a nurse will see us after 15 minutes a nurse comes from the back with the coworkers laughing joking still 10 minutes after this my child is still waiting to see a nurse who proceeds to have conversations until I had to rudely interrupt them fine my son can come the the nurse area where she is they take vitals and sit him back out in the waiting room this is poor care for a child who's head is busted open it actually took two hours before my son was called to see a real doctor the star is only because I had too šŸ‘Ž

After an excruciating pain on Friday was stabilized by a hospital ER, We were transferred here for immediate surgery because itā€™s a minor. After about 4 hours they manipulated us with a possible surgery dateā€¦ to push us away till Monday. On follow up call for surgery date they told us to look for another hospital because our insurance was out of state. Now I have the duty of going to another hospital and start afresh. Meanwhile I am battling with the pain every time it surfaces at home. Do not come here because they donā€™t care but only manage your emotions. They donā€™t want to work but sit by the desk and chit chat while you are in agony. May God reward them accordingly.

Complete negligence and ignorance towards anything surrounding the patient!! Doing the opposite from saving lives and treating conditions! Nurses spend more time on their cell phones then doing their work. Take your child there only if you donā€™t care about it.

We were in the intensive care unit and were switched to pediatrics. Everyone was so nice in both spots, they spoke to you so calmly and they way they treated my son was just wonderful. They treated him like he was their own. The rooms were clean the bathrooms were very clean. The nurses were very on it with him and I appreciate that so much.

Awful ER experience! I mean waiting in the ER for over 6hrs because they have no structure or process that includes common sense. I watched so many families walk out after waiting for hours. No one engaged with the families just to make sure we were OK during the wait and just to give an update. The mission statement doesn't align with how we were treated in the ER.

The Emergency room processes at Colmer Childrenā€™s is terrible. On 12/23/23 it took my grandson nearly 3 hours to get checked in and even longer to be triaged. Hopefully his case is not severe. Iā€™m not sure why this is set up the way it is and of course no one has any answers. Even with a short staff there has to be a more efficient way to get patients in to at least determine severity.

Medical billing scammers! My daughter had a virtual appointment in September. They billed me for the regular appointment-fine, of course. But they tacked on a virtual appointment fee that doubled the bill. Literally-just charged a $300 fee for "virtual appointment." I could understand some sort of fee, I guess. Maybe $30 for "reasons." But not one that literally doubled the cost of the appointment. I have very good insurance through my job-they laughed at this expense and passed it on to me. I also have secondary insurance for the kids-through CHIP. This children's hospital doesn't accept CHIP, which is a head scratcher. How could a hospital serving children be like "no, we only care for children with money." I had completely forgotten about this but I see that 4 months after this one virtual 30 minute appointment, after I already paid over $600 (twice actually-I guess my first payment got "lost in the mail"), I have a new charge of $232 due. Literally no new interactions with this place in the 4 months since that virtual appointment-no lab work, no radiology to review, nothing. The doctors/nurse practitioners we saw were nice, but offered nothing groundbreaking in terms of treatment. One doctor told her to do yoga to ease her joint pain. Great advice, but I also got that from Dr. Google for free. So in sum, I can't believe this one 30 minute virtual appointment is costing me nearly $1,000 OOP when my kid is covered by 2 insurance accounts. Ridiculous. Never again.

UOFC is the best coordinated spot we have seen at this point. It is home to most elevated positioned specialists who are spurred by having an effect and to propel the are of their ability. While the stylistic layout and environmental factors may not be the most captivating the degree of ability and care you get is top notch.

Iā€™ve gotten Spotify ads for this place multiple times a day for several months, and I donā€™t have kids nor do I need a hospital. Imagine how much theyā€™re overcharging their patients if they constantly throw away thousands of dollars on useless ads.

I was a patient at this hospital a few years back in October 2017. The nurses, doctors, and play crew were very nice to me. I was diagnosed with diabetes and had to stay they for more than 3 days. I felt horrible inside but they made me happy even so. They explained my diabetes to me in the most kindest way ever. Going to the play place was nice too, they took well care of me and made me feel as if I were at home. I came to the same hospital a couple months ago because I was vomiting due to my Glucose Levels being extremely high. Even though I wasnā€™t being diagnosed again they still treated me quickly as if it was an emergency. Although it was hard for them to find my vein since I was really dehydrated and couldnā€™t eat anything at all because it would end up to me vomiting, they still found it because they are just that amazing! šŸ¤© Even though there was strict COVID restrictions there, they still were keeping contact to make sure I was alright. I thought that they wouldnā€™t serve any food, considering thereā€™s a virus, but they still did! šŸ˜Œ To this day I still thank them for giving me the best hospitality they could ever have gave me. I hope they stay the same and never change there ways of giving hospitality. xoxo, Kiara LeešŸ’•

This hospital is unbelievable for allowing a 3 month old baby to sit in the ER without being seen for over 3 hours. Baby has mucous coming out of her nose and mouth and this hospital will not see her to let us know if itā€™s serious or not. Just slowly calling patients to the back on a 1st come 1st serve basis. I think an infant should be given some consideration. I give them Zero stars

My daughter had sprained her ankle and was limping so I brought her here. They told me that she was fine and how they werenā€™t going to do an x-ray because she seemed ā€œfineā€ and not bothered by her limping leg. Another nurse came in and said that they decided they were going to do one just in case. Itā€™s like they were in a rush for no reason and all I wanted to know was if her ankle would be fine or if it was severe.

I just gave birth this Saturday at Comer Childrens Hospital and had an absolutely amazing experience! From the doctors to the NICU team to the nurses, everyone was so kind and wonderful. I felt like I was in safe, capable hands and canā€™t recommend them enough. Special shout out to my nurses at the time ; Anna for her incredible kindness and compassion, Nicole for her knowledge and nerves of steel and Candace for her wonderful aftercare and overall sweetness. In the post partum ward, Natasha was my life saver especially during the first few nights and so kind to a first time mother. Mary was also so sweet and knowledgeable. And a thank you to the rest of the medical team at Comer and Mitchell, you guys are all rockstars!!! Thank you so much again :)

The charge nurse Christine in er is disrespectful as all get. My niece got transferred there for emergency surgery, we were able to be with my niece until the charge nurse Christine came onto night shift& coming from 2 hours away is unacceptable. If I could give her 0 stars I would and not recommend this emergency room agian.

My God sister used to work here she was an amazing NSA but she was terminated because a nurse took a picture of her and said whatever. It's completely unbelievable that they would back a nurse's word and use outdated policies. If you get hired here be very careful the nurses will have it out for you the moment you start and will do whatever just to get to you fired knowing that the hospital will have their backs

Terrible experience for the first time pedestrian visit with Dr Shi. Our appointment was at 3:40pm, dr Shi came in the room at around 4:40. She checked our sonā€™s health very quickly and then left, she told us that she has another patient and will come back later. We stayed in a tiny room for about 2.5 hours!!! It was our sonā€™s 18mo check up, she didnā€™t ask our any questions just gave us a booklet about the instructions for 18mo. Very unprofessional.

This place shows favoritism to the highest degree. It's absolutely ridiculous that nurses can take pictures of other staff members and lie just to get a person fired.
