😠 I have never been to a hospital where I felt like I was a piece of trash. The triage nurse didn't bother to ask about my symptoms, and kept talking over me. I have never been to a hospital where I felt like I was a piece of trash. The triage nurse didn't bother to ask about my symptoms, and kept talking over me. It was as though he was trying to tell me about the symptoms I was having. When the second nurse brought me back, he was extremely rude, as if I was faking my illness. That alone made me feel like I shouldn't be there, despite being in pain. Ultimately I got up and left, without seeing the doctor, as the second-rate treatment from the nurses was more than enough to handle. I rather deal with the pain. Now I'm just waiting to see what the hospital charges my insurance and me for the awful service, since I never received any treatment and the nurse did not complete a full triage. Thanks Rush! Now I know where not to go.

I went to the emergency room. There was a woman named Charon, I may have misspelled her name. She just said I can help you here. I said good morning. I then began telling her my doctor's nurse, which is on staff at Rush, told me to come to the emergency room and I told the woman at the front desk what my illness was. She constantly interrupted me and wouldn't allow me to finish my sentences. The nurse from the back called my name to come to the back, I started walking towards the nurse, Charon said something to the nurse, I was told to go back and wait for my name to be called. They took three other patients that came after me before me. When I questioned it, she told me that they were having chest pains. I told her that I was also and shortness of breath. I told her that I was trying to let her know when I was speaking to her earlier but she kept interrupting me again. Also joking a couple of times with the other lady in the front. A person with no compassion or any type of concern should not be allowed to work in a setting that has direct contact with sick people whatsoever. I completely understand that an emergency room is not based on first come first served, but she would not listen to me at all. The nurses and doctors were fantastic.

This place is the worst. I wasn’t feeling well all weekend and Monday night started getting chest pains so I called a sitter and went to the ER. I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours and then another hour in the room before I was seen by anyone. Dr. McKenna was the first person to see me and I explained how I had arm, back and chest pain with shortness of breath. She left and a nurse returned with Tylenol when I already told the Dr that Tylenol didn’t do anything so I passed on the pill. She then orders a urine sample and shortly after discharged me telling me to use a warm compress and Tylenol!? No bloodwork. No ECG. No asking about my family history. I was shocked. My mother has heart disease and I wouldn’t have waited so long to know that they didn’t take chest pains and shortness of breath to be an emergency. And the nurses didn’t seem to care at all about being in pain and were not very empathetic. The Dr really didn’t seem to care about what I was telling her and rushed me out saying it was a virus. Also, another patient was in the waiting room pregnant and they didn’t seem to care about her either. I made a vow to not come here anymore. No wonder everyone that lives in Oak Park goes to Elmhurst Hospital.

Pam the charge nurse should not be allowed to work there. Awful experience. Getting lawyers involved. Calvin, Isac, Sean, Mr Thomas, Cheryl and Darius the nurses, and Mr Charles helped me get thru tho. Thank everything for them. Oh and Crystal can't forget Crystal. This was in the mental health inpatient department.

I went to Shriners from toddlerhood to adulthood. I fully know they blessed me with the ability to walk. Thank you Dr Miller and Dr Peter Smith. You were/are angels on earth. They did hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical care for free. I had 3 surgeries. Multiple castings. Leg braces. Follow ups. 2 decades of treatment. Free. Angels. They are angels

My son and I both think this is the best of the best anywhere. We were treated with the utmost care, compassion, respect, and excellence. Walking the halls after surgery we were greeted with smiles and by name. Even the custodian said hello to my son by name. This goes beyond just a surgery by skilled hands,it is a place where the entire staff is caring and loving.

This is an awesome place. The staff is 2nd to none. The cleaning staff, cooking staff, nurses, Doctors and the office staff are great. If they have any issues among themselves, it is NEVER shown in the eyes of the parents and children that are in their care. My son has OI and under the watchful eyes of Dr. Peter Smith, Nurse Jennifer Joy, Therapist Joe, and social worker with the one of a kind laugh Laurie Mc Dena , He has thrived well beyond my expectations and with their help I got peace of mind and he got more and more self reliant. This is the only Hospital I have ever left my son alone and can say he was well cared for in my presence and while I was away. There is not enough word to explain the appreciation I have for Shriner's entire staff. Marilyn Gatewood

I went there as a child from the age 11 to 21. It was the most amazing experience. The doctor's and staff were awesome. I went there even after I had my first child. Dr. Vogel was my doctor I think of him often. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am now 43 and have had 2 complete hip replacements. Still doing well. Thank you Shriner's all the help.

Be ready to wait more than 6+ hours. Service is awful some coworkers forgot the meaning of COMPASSION. A kid arrive to the E.R hard of breathing it took a long time to take care of him. Parents got tired and end up leaving because they send them back to the waiting area. People coming from the ambulance, an old lady on her 70’s. They just left her there waiting for more than 5+hours she was asking for questions and trying to figure out some answers. The only thing that where able to say I’m SORRY, I DONT KNOW but you need to wait. Finally she call security and he was so nice and able to help her because she was asking to get a cab and go home. But finally an RN ask her some questions and they where able to get her in. Oh by the way my mom after 6 hrs they did a COVID test and X-rays. I left home to change clothes and they call me to see if she took an covid test and what where her results. No body tell you anything at that hospital so how should I know. Are you guys supposed to write everything that is happening? People helping each other because staff would not help them with their needs. So if you are thinking of coming think twice or NOT come at all.

I went yesterday to the ER for severe back pain. I got in about 30 minutes after first arriving and they did vitals as well have me provide a urine sample. Afterwards, I was placed back into the waiting room: I understand that it is very understaffed right now. However, I did not appreciate being placed in a corner of a room when I did finally got taken out of the waiting room. The staff were very nice, but I wish there was more of a presence of them in the room me and the other people were in. At the end of it, I was given a lot of pain medicine that has not helped me and a cane since I am not able to walk now.

Unfortunately I or my family have been to emergency 3 times recently (different hospitals) and this is the worst experience ever. The nurse who took my vital and lady who did my xray were great but overall management of this place is chaotic. I saw people crying with pain who were waiting for 6 hours to get checked. A small baby was not attended for 6 hours. What kind of an emergency is this? A person may die with pain waiting for so long. On top of it, a very badly injured man asked for a blanket as it was chilling there and nurse said oh i know it’s chilling but sorry we don’t have blankets, smiled and went away. What a compassionate person!!!!! Overall, PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR LIFE!!!

I had to wait for over 8 hours to be seen. Which, I'm not necessarily complaining about the wait time since it is an emergency room. The nurses and staff were great. But the doctor that I saw was very dismissive of the reason that I came in. She did not listen to me when I asked for specific tests that I was told to get before I got there. Dr. Valerie McKenna acted as though she was tired and ready to get off work, rushing me from the room. I was met with passive racism as the reason I was in pain. I would not come back if my heart fell out of my chest. Terrible treatment.

Please have high end insurance for the Sleep Medicine Department! If you have insurance that doesn’t meet the criteria you will be reminded often in conversation by the doctor. Even insinuate you can’t afford accommodations for your health because insurance doesn’t cover it. I have visit the sleep specialist location in Oak Park and in Chicago. I can assure you the goal at the Chicago location was to hear the concern and educate without rudeness. Allowing me to choose insurance options or out of pocket options. Either way I knew my options. The bedside manner of the doctor I seen was absolutely horrible at Oak Park. Didn’t listen to me speak about my body and didn’t take much consideration in the reading of the exam. I would never recommend anyone to the Oak Park Sleep Medicine location. Also during a different medical procedure prior…loud music was being played before patients went into surgery. Classic rock and roll music to be exact. You lay there with your hospital gown and cap for surgery. All to hear loud classic rock and roll music. My anxiety went further though the roof. I couldn’t hear my own thoughts! Having so many surgeries I’m accustomed to peaceful/ quiet environments. Highly recommend Rush Chicago location. So much more professional!

My aunt was admitted to ER in critical condition with heart trouble. She has language barrier and unable to tell the staff about she has Advance directives. I tried to call the staff, but they either hang up the phone or let it ring. I drove 300 miles and came to ER. Unable to visit my aunt due to their COVID protocol ( still can't manage visitors after 1 year of experience with pandemic- incompetent facility). Keeping old, frail and helpless elderly isolated from their families at their end of life due to their own incompetence. Very disappointing. I gave 1 star for the security guard who tried to pass message to ER charge nurse who refused to atleast speak to me regarding the patient care! I requested to speak atleast to a social worker or case manager. Guess what ..... no one is available!! What kind of care is this? If anyone wants to die without seeing their family at the end of their life, this is the place called Rush Oak Park hospital. By the way, I am an experienced RN and I have never seen this treatment ever before. Shame on you- Rush Oak Park Hospital.

Get ready to wait 10 hours for some tylenol. Such a shame the staff genuinely seems not to care. Other posts are very accurate regarding the wait times. If your in pain go somewhere else. Typically visits to the ER are lengthy, but this is just absolutely ridiculous that patients who are in pain have to wait over 10 hours only to be given tylenol and asked to wait more time. By the time a patient is actually seen it's going to be over 15 hours waiting in pain and agony. Possibly one of the worst hospitals in illinois. The more "severe cases" are prioritized. That's the excuse they keep telling everyone who posts about the wait time. Overall trash hospital patients visit the "ER" for EMERGENCYs not to wait over 10 hours.

I am so dissatisfied with the medical attention here, my husband got rear ended and he was feeling a lot of pain in his head, neck and back. He asked me what hospital should I go to, I said go to Rush on oak park because they have fast service and the best care from what I could remember a couple of years ago. He listened to me and I met him there he was checked in at 9:45pm, it is now 4:17am and I am still here with him the triage nurse checked him and they checked his vitals twice and then sent him back out in the waiting room. He still hasn’t seen a doctor and his back is killing him from these dam chairs! Obviously he is going to feel uncomfortable if she just had an accident and again here comes the nurse to check his vitals a 3rd time!! And I am telling her that he could have a concussion from the impact that the car hit him from behind! I am just so disappointed! I will never come here again or recommend any of my family members to this hospital!

The emergency waiting room is horrible process they can’t tell you if you next. I went to the back for my temperature saw open rooms but waiting room park. It puts me to a jr cook county hospital. Never set in a emergency room to be be seen for over 4 hours. I saw a child sick in pain coughing and they been here over 3 hours. Horrible never coming back here. I asked for water and they gave me warm water.

On October 12, 2022 I was advised by my PCP HomeCare physician to go right away to the closest Emergency Room for an extremely High level of malignant hypertension. Started at 206/124 and continued to climb indiscriminately. As I hit the button of my emergency alert device an ambulance was dispatched immediately. The EMT’s came with assistance to vehicle to access my condition. At that time my BP was measured at 216/126 and continued to elevate. By the time we reached ROP ER treatment room #8 . Room was still being cleaned. Immediately the nursing staff began EKG vitals and drawing blood the ENT’s had already prepped my R-hand for IV solutions before entering the ER. However no solutions were given, no pain meds or any BP meds were administered nor nausea meds were ever offered. No questions regarding whether or not I was there by myself or if I had be followed or accompanied by anyone else. . I was allegedly was sent for CT Scan , however the CT Scan was done so fast that it was though the machine was on a eyelash power. The transport from the er room and back was less than 3 mins. 30 minutes later I was as your system states code 44’d. The physician told me that my home health physician only needed to change my medication levels of my bp protocol and that she and ER staff had did nothing to intervene in this condition and wouldn’t be. I asked had she noticed my L-side of my face and the swelling and the potential cause and if it could have been connected to the headache and blood pressure extreme elevation. She answered NO! And that your ER doesn’t treat those types of things regardless. Totally stunned as I was trying to comprehend the diagnosis of primary hypertension, I asked for assistance to the waiting room. Again at that time no one ever engaged me with any questions about assistance or source of transportation home as it was rapidly approaching midnight. I am a 58yr old BLIND WOMAN that lives alone. No one even asked for my PCP ‘s phone number or a family member’s contact information. My question is WHY? I wasn’t verbally combative. I wasn’t aggressive nor exhibiting threatening behavior of any sort. I called thst Friday October 14, 2022 and was directed to Patient Relations around 3:30-4pm . My call was routed to a voicemail to that department to leave a message and my personal contact information. As I was leaving this message, I could hear an individual screening the voicemail I would leave for follow up contact by the next business day to address my concerns. Which to date, I have not been contacted nor has the event been addressed directly by me with the hospital administrators . I am also a state protected patient of Colbert Initiative Consent Decree since 2015…. The moment I used the emergency alert device, it became their business to know the extent of my medical emergency condition. The circumstances were inquired and documented. My PCP, Nursing home health attendant, and all other team members and Medicare/Medicaid were informed as well. I have never been treated like a no factor before in my whole medical experience with any facility, such as this and on the level in which your facility operates. That wasn’t a routine doctor’s appointment. I could have returned to my home or on the street and dropped dead. Thanks! GOD intervened…..

I always come to Rush Oak Park for my medical needs. When I come to the ER I don't have to wait more than 3 hours how most people say. I get seen fast. And the nurses and doctors that see me have always been good to me and they take care of me well. I never have bad experiences. That's why I keep coming here. Thank you Rush Oak Park for good service in the ER and ICU unit. Nurses and doctors all good and friendly to me. And help make my stay comfortable.

I really like my doctors but the patients from the migrants that come there are rude and no one corrects their behavior. I am a senior and another senior pushed me with her wheelchair and told me to move in spanish while in the neurology clinic on the 5th floor. This is not my first event with these folks. I may consider changing locations or doing tele-visits while I look for a new hospital. This makes me sad because I found a great team in Oak Park.

I've gone through Rush Same Day Surgery five times, and this department has never failed to worsen my pain, functionality, and overall quality of life. My foot surgeries entailed recoveries significantly longer than projected, with torturous symptoms that seemed to be post-operative at first, but have been persisting indefinitely and are now a part of my every day living. Not only did I not get any relief from the pain management procedures I've undergone here, but they've actually worked in the opposite direction worsening my pain. I will say, however, that there is a fair degree of professionalism. The front desk at Same Day Surgery has been helpful, knowledgeable, and respectful. The staff (nurses, anesthesiologists, etc.) from Pre-Op, Recovery, etc. was friendly. But, I wish they didn't bother patients about payments while being there for a procedure. I think it's poor service to demand a payment for a previous procedure while a patient is in Same Day Surgery. I'd rather have the admin work dealt with elsewhere such as over a phone call or email. Ultimately, immeasurable pain and suffering has resulted from my treatment at Rush Oak Park Hospital. Before I'd been to Rush, I'd imagined my pain couldn't get any worse. Rush Hospital did a fine job proving me wrong.

I had to go to the ER for a flare up of diverticulitis that was causing severe abdominal pain. The entire experience was horrible. I sat in the waiting room for 4 hours before getting a bed. The did take me back briefly twice during that time to do a pre- screen and a blood test. During these short visits to the back no one explained the process or why I was going back to the waiting room. I was in severe pain and had to walk each time. When I finally got a bed the Dr came to see me daily quickly and said I would get some pain medicine and a CAT scan. After waiting over an hour we had to reach out to our nurse to see why no one had come. They finally came and gave me an IV pain meds and set up the CAT scan. 2 hours after the CAT Scan (which the technician said results would be available in 20 minutes) we again had to go ask the nurse where the results were. Finally 30 minutes later the Dr came with the results and we were discharged. The whole experience took over 8 hours. I don’t know if the issue was that they were terribly understaffed or did not care about there patients. I hope it was the first and shame on the hospital for putting these employees and patients through this. This will be our last trip to Rush Oak Park. I truly hope they find a way to improve as the community needs this hospital.

I am totally and utterly disgusted with the way this hospital has treated my sister. She has been in the waiting room for almost 9hours from what could possibly be a broken arm. I've been on the phone with her listening to her cry in agony for hours. When they finally put her in a room they gave her TYLENOL to ease her 9 hours in pain. What next a bandaid on her possible broken arm and send her on her way? Then charge her 15,000 dollars for said bandaid and Tylenol? This in unexceptable! They are so F'N lucky I'm in Texas!

Me and my son came in with complications of covid and we were asked fo have a seat in the waiting area. While the 2 people that came in after me where pulled back immediately. Just wondering how sick you have to be before your a priority. Not to mention the lady at the front desk didn't even ask me what my symptoms were...and she shouldn't keep calling people baby either. Not everyone likes that or think it's cute.

Terrible ..Had same day surgery here, the day before the surgery they were supposed to call. They didn’t I had to call them. Almost everyone who was NOT a nurse had an attitude. From the front desk to the patient transport. The parking is ridiculous. The anesthesiologist put a nerve block in and likely didn’t do a good job because when I woke in recovery I was in such pain I was screaming out loud, they gave me all kinds of pain meds which didn’t help, they had to bring anesthesia back down to do a second nerve block AFTER surgery. Somehow my corneas also got scratched, they said it was because I rubbed my eyes but no one said not too when I awoke. They put a patch over one of eyes but both hurt to open. They rushed me out of recovery because my surgery ran late and they wanted to go home..on the way down from recovery (I don’t know who) but some lady kept saying to me speedy recovery…. If you don’t open your eyes they’ll have to keep you hear longer… but it was because it was late and she wanted her colleagues to go home.. Whilst I’ve had great experiences before with Rush. I would not recommend this establishment.

The nurses and x-ray technicians were phenomenal. They were extremely nice to me when I came in and tried their best to make me comfortable and make the experience less stressful on me. The wait times were rough because I was there for 5 hours from 10pm until 2:30am but I expected that. The staff is amazing but the wait times need to go down for the patients.

I’m extremely sad to say that now that im 23yrs of age I outgrew Shriners..I’m sad because if it was up to me I would stay here all my adult hood life too! I was born w/ hip dysplasia and I been coming here since I can even remember. I LOVE IT!!!! I ALWAYS ALWAYS recommend this place in heart beat! The last time I went I think I was 21 or 22 and I would walk in and staff and Dr. and nurses would greet me like I was one of them 💞 they were always sooooooo freaking sweet , I would drive an Hr away from home to go to them. Came to a point where my family struggled to get me there and that’s when the shriners would pick me up from my house and drive me to my appointments! Shriners were like mu guardian angels! So sweet and friendly to this day I still keep in contact w/ them💕 Dr Smith was the Dr I would see when I 1st started and he was so good at what he did.! He was caring and since my mom didn’t understand much english at the time he would pop out his little bit of Spanish to get her to understand as much as she could! Dr Grasseschi was my other Dr too ! Very helpful and patient too! The amount of times I went there to get surgery is insane but everytime nurses ALWAYS were extremely helpful, friendly, sweet , caring and playful ! Ones I became older they already knew who I was and would be waiting for me to talk to me about anything! I don’t have a single complaint about this place ! Its extremely clean, helpful, and caring❤️ This hospital however is not an emergency hospital where you can just go if u have an emergency ... HOW EVER! There was a time where I was in crucial pain and they told me to go in ASAP I called my shrines super last min and they came through w/o a doubt! They kept me there for quite some long hours to keep an eye on me and the Shriners waited till I was all better to take me home. Same thing w/ my surgery’s , my surgery’s could last a long time and the shriners were PATIENTLY waiting for me to get the ok to go home! I love it here and will be ALWAYS recommending this place! Im still bummed out that I will no longer have visits 💔

I was not a customer here. They were my customer. So you may disregard this outlier of a review as I have little to say on their performance. I'm middle aged, and won't be needing their help, nor have I ever received their help. So do not prioritize this review over others. Just take it for what it is worth to you. Story time! Oh my gosh the lady with which I spoke was pretty inconsiderate. And then she went from inconsiderate to rude. I delivered food there. You do not go into a hospital with outside food without permission. I called her to say I'm pulling up to the front door. I asked if I should just park in the main dropoff site. She said yes. So I arrive and get her order. She grabbed the food, and walked away without paying for it. I had to stop her verbally. I said "I'm sorry but I need you to sign this for our transaction to be complete." She said "ok. It's just usually I dont have to come outside so next time come in." I said "ok. feel free to include that in the instructions" she said "I usually don't have to" which I'm sure is true but first of all, it's not a house, second of all, it can't be navigated the way other buildings can because all hospitals are slightly different and third, I have delivered for over 5 years, and hospitals have their own procedure behind how outside food is handled. I can't just guess and risk adding more time to the delivery, or worse, giving someone with an allergy a reaction, or getting in trouble for walking in, these are not acceptable things for my TIME SENSITIVE job. Since that was a first time and I know I have verbal permission to walk in now, the second time I walked in and delivered and even had a nice talk with the other staff while I waited for the customer to arrive this adds time like I shouldn't but it's better than making a customer angry when I did nothing wrong. but point here is: seriously I hope that lady is ok. There's no reason to have that attitude unless something real nasty happened to you just then. I don't even fully understand how I triggered her, seeing as I told her when I was pulling in so neither of us would have to wait. Why would you displace your attitude on someone else doing their job (which happens to be one of the most dangerous in America) properly? The walk from where she was to where I was was less than fifty feet. In fact she could see me the whole time. So I held it up like "are you coming here or do you want me to go in there?" and she kinda stomped out like I was the Bane of her existence. All I hope is that her attitude doesn't affect her performance in that hospital. I'm gonna write it all off as culture shock or something but....be nice to people please. So uhhhh if anyone has to stop here for non medical reasons, be thorough in your communication and keep your patience.

This hospital dishonors its Hippocratic Oath. Today it took over 4 hours to be seen (8hrs total) in torsion pain; the waiting room called about 1-2 people per hour tho ER was packed. I went only at the direction of my Rush Dr, and even with I was not escalated nor taken seriously. I observed everything very carefully here as it was my first time. The nurses here are incredible; the Doctors here are callous, cavalier, cold and arrogant. I experienced an ovarian cyst rupture which is a gynecological emergency resulting in high fever, nausea and vomiting with side effects for over 12 days and the male Dr could not connect the dots and never once looked me in the eye with an ounce of sincerity - he seemed annoyed at everything. I was sent home with follow-ups that were completely in-comprehensive and unrelated to my diagnosis and pain. The ultrasound technician talked my ear off about her personal business while I was wincing in pain, and she took off in the middle of it to go write down a link she wanted to give me. There is a total lack of professionalism! The way they treat people here is inhumane. They are so obviously desperately understaffed as recent comments also observed. The bathrooms for patients were filthy, full of discarded wipes, urine sample supplies, tons of hair and literally no hand soap. Is this a mall?Lots of garbage left around my room when I was ambushed for EKG and bloodwork. Shows RUSHED carelessness. They also do not enforce their mask policy and instead of having people change masks outside before entering (as Rush downtown did) they have people coming in without a mask at registration talking for several minutes or kids with COVID without a mask until minutes later which freaked me out. Where are your BASIC safety protocols? Security was also pathetic in that they did nothing during a verbal assault in the waiting room. That (all of it) says it all for me. This is a sad failure of a hospital. *No reply about "unexpected ambulances" offsets your failures, Rush PR.* Whatever operational costs you're sacrificing bc of the pandemic comes at the cost each and every patient not properly treated.

I also feel that they're very through and keep you informed about everything they intend to do and everything you need to know pertaining to your care. I always feel like I'm a priority and and that always allivate any fear I may have had when I arrived. Great people Great service, Great hospital. P.S my doctor Dr. Cobo is the absolute best

OP Rush has been my sons safe place for over 10 years. This last experience with having his labs faxed to CVS pharmacy has been a nightmare. It has put my son in an unsafe position. His CBC with differential has been drawn regularly for 10 years. We give the lab the CVS fax each time. The results were usuallyfaxed and he was able to pick up his medicine. Lab failed to do this, and their phone was not functioning to reach them for days. When I finally reached them, they faxed an incomplete test result.! He is unable to receive the medicine from CVS and may end up being hospitalized. Plus, as it is now the holiday weekend, I can not even talk with someone in the hospital who might help. Poor, poor customer service. You dropped the ball.

I'm dealing with breast cancer and a broken leg, I've dealt with tons of people at this hospital from surgeons, nurses, techs, the people that handle appointments, the front desk people at various departments etc. Every single one of them has been so nice and helpful, they really make things as easy as they can. Special shoutout to Melissa in Radiation for going above and beyond the call of duty. You are much appreciated, Oak Park Hospital ❤️

Went in with extreme low back pain. They diagnosed me with sciatica without even offering an x ray . Gave me ketamine which did absolutely nothing for my pain and left in pain again. Staff was exceptionally unkind, unsympathetic and unprofessional. Gave me a Rx for medication for meds I can find OTC. It's worth the drive to go to a better hospital. Do not recommend this hospital at all. If someone can help me and guide me on how to report them I would greatly appreciate it.

Receptionist & nurses were rude. Won't answer any questions or help you. Got here with only 2 people in waiting room and 2 hours later and a full waiting room I'm still waiting. A man passed out in waiting room and nobody did anything about it except another patient. He would have fallen out of the wheel chair if he didn't catch him. I will give it 30 minutes and then I'm leaving. Will go to Loyola. Rush has billed my insurance company about 1 million dollars due to surgeries and illness. Will probably change hospitals after this. It will be their loss!

My brief time at Rush Oak Park ER on 11/1 - 11/2 started off fine, but ended poorly. The triage nurse, CT tech, male nurse (Marco) and male doc (Dr. Moore) were great, but the female doctor and nurses (mainly the nurses) were subpar. Their bedside manner was underwhelming. They were insensitive and uncaring. I went in for left side chest pain and was made to feel like I was drug seeking. I was hesitant about going to the ER in the first place. It took me 12 hrs to decide to go and they dismissed me, then figuratively pushed me out of the room because “we need it”. As a nurse practioner myself I’m so disappointed in the lack of compassion I received from my night and daytime (female) nurses, female doc, and the female staff who came in at the end and rushed me out of the room. No one wants to be treated like that. Do better.

Terrible hospital, the front desk at the ER and nurses are friendly and quick and listen to each patients needs , the waiting time for such a small hospital was a bit too much but understandable, the doctor however is incompetent and should have his medical license taken away , I came in with brain , jaw , teeth head and neck pain , numbness & brain fog confused amongst other symptoms that I have , initially the hospital is suppose to take a CT scan and MRI of the person , nope not this doctor he refused and quickly said it could be TMJ related and gave me a shot of Valium and told me to take Tylenol at home and make an appointment with my primary doctor to follow up. Horrendous service he did a disservice to me by not properly taking all the protocol steps your suppose to take with a patient showing stroke symptoms. Avoid this hospital at all costs .

ER wait time is beyond ridiculous, 3+ hours to see a provider with zero updates. You’re PM shift ER registrar are both rude & do not have the manners to work with the public. The new grad resident nurse in the lobby (Delaney) should not be in “triage”. She did not seem to have the basic nursing knowledge & critical thinking skills for such a position. Her inability to recognize a hypertensive blood pressure along with someone’s poor cardiovascular history & current symptoms, makes her dangerous. If she’s a danger to the public, that also makes RUSH Oak Park, liable & a danger to the community you’re supposed to serve. Please know how to advocate for yourself & do not let up when your complaint is down played and/or deemed NOT a priority.

worst experience that I had to leave & go to another emergency room. the nurses talk about the patients as if the little piece of fabric they use for privacy masks their conversations. overheard a nurse that was walking by my room say “not my patient not my problem” not the best energy to have in a hospital. was seen by dr. rough (not sure if the spelling is right) & he was extremely dismissive & downplayed my symptoms to the point I got frustrated & left. I could not work with him anymore.

I have never had such a terrible experience at an ER. I’m at 3 hours and counting to see someone. In the meantime, I’m weak, dehydrated and losing any hope of seeing a doctor. And you can’t bother the front desk because they’re too busy ignoring you. I understand more immediate needs take priority, but get more staff. Im usually patient but three hours feeling miserable inside an emergency waiting room is ridiculous and dangerous.

Shriners has been such a huge blessing to our family. We’ve been taking my daughter there since she was 1 week old. She is 18 months now and we’ve been there many times. We know lots of staff by name and they come to talk with us, even if they’re not seeing Lena that day. They are kind and compassionate and so understanding!! Dr. Altiok has done remarkable work on my daughters feet and legs. He is truly a gifted surgeon, very intelligent, professional and kind. We are so grateful for his care for Lena over the past 18 months. Thank you Shriners for all of your help with our sweet girl!!

Had a fantastic experience today at the ER. From the moment I walked in, Sheila at registration was kind, caring, and made me feel like my visit was important. Luckily, I only had to wait about 20-30 minutes before being taken back. From intake, to being treated by the ER doc, nurse, imaging team, etc, I was treated with the utmost care and compassion. Huge shout-out to Dr Hunsucker, and nurse Dominica! They are total rockstars in providing outstanding patient care! I came in feeling awful, but left feeling great thanks to them, and the wonderful team at Rush Oak Park. YMMV of course at any medical facility, but my experience at this hospital was wonderful, and any future emergencies, I will absolutely come back.

The waiting room was a nightmare, but that was mainly the fault of three loud people, two of whom were vomiting, I think from alcohol abuse. I wish they could put such people in another area, away from the others who are suffering enough already. Wait was over two hours, despite being rated Red. Once we got inside, Dr. Nash’s team was terrific. Five stars for them. Knowledgeable, caring, considerate… provided excellent care.

Unfortunately usually very good and attentive staff. Today's emergency room staff is rude and crabby. Elder doctor on staff, which is odd. I was not impressed at all, and I felt he was less than pleased with my skin tone. Typically a 5 star.

I went to the ER with severe flu symptoms. The wait was not very long since I came early in the morning, it was about 2 hrs. Some of the nurses ran a Covid test and checked my vitals, then I was X-rayed. After the doctor took a look at my X-ray, he said that I didn’t have Covid or the flu but that I had a virus. He didn’t specify what it was specifically or what kind of virus I had. I had a virus and that was all that was said. I was extremely upset because I waited 2 hours just to be told I had a virus. As if I couldn’t figure that out on my own. I do not recommend this hospital at all for anyone that is in need of immediate care.

The Dr's and nurses here were amazing. Everyone was so nice and respectful. Came in through the emergency room and got admitted to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. It was my first surgery and they did a great job of reassuring me. I also was up front about being a person in recovery and not once did I feel judged. If I ever have to go to the hospital again I will come back here. Thank you Rush!

Briahna (hopefully I spelt it right) was a wonderful nurse. Her bedside manners are very good! We need more nurses like her. She took good care of my mother after her surgery and we were very pleased by her skills. She was patient with us and very adorable! Also another nurse Juana in the surgery floor or seventh floor was good! Very nice and patient. Please don’t forget to give a special thanks to these two wonderful nurses for their outstanding service! They deserve more and more in their careers! However, one white lady was rude at the front desk. I asked if they can fix the ventilator in the waiting because it was super cold and said “I can’t do anything about . I’ll call maintenance and see if they can fix it. “ but she pretended to call them. Not sure if she was having a rough morning or what not but she needs to work on her compassionate skills. Nurses get a 5 star front desk lady 0 stars

I was there at the Oak Park ER and this Irish chaplain was pretending to help my situation, and she was the worse person ever! She pretended to listen to my problems with my relative's care and how my other relatives were treating him, and she goes on and takes their side and totally does not listen to anything I had to say. What an awful person to pretend that their listening to you, when she has already formed her own judgement. She was the worse chaplain ever! I would like to never go to that hospital again because me and my relative, whom I was taking care of, had the worse care possible!

Their billing department and processes are a dismal failure. I understand the American healthcare system is a mess but Rush goes above and beyond. They are simply unable to work through a claim with my carrier and instead have chosen to move towards submitting my claim to collections. Just today a billing representative told me she will do her best to have my account placed on hold so this doesn't happen. But, "no guarantees". Huh? So I have to pay $820 to preserve my credit on the hopes that someday they might actually make me whole? The harmful stress Rush places on patients often exceeds the value of their treatments. To them it's all about the money. Patient welfare comes a distant last.

In the emergency room there was a tall skinny African American nurse with pink scrubs that was very condescending and showed no type of sympathy towards a patient. When he tried to talk to her she just rolled her eyes at him and left to talk to another nurse. She seemed more interested in talking to her coworker than actually doing her job.

Been there twice within 30 days due to sports injury and both times i’ve had to wait 5+ hours, both visits i’d end up leaving the hospital with no result having to ask them to post them on my virtual medical chart so i can receive my diagnosis the next day. Rush seriously needs to do better with timing there I don’t even think that should be allowed to be called an ER, i’ve had schedule doctor visits go faster than that

I’ll never come back to Rush and at one point of time they were my favorite hospital. Today I waited 7 hours in the emergency room and still haven’t been seen. Basically they take people with severe symptoms like the symptoms I had wasn’t severe enough for them. I wasted almost my whole day waiting on them. Wasn’t nothing FAST TRACK about them. I would never go back ever again even if my life depended on it.

I was in labor and came Rush Park because it was the closest hospital. I was only five months, and I knew something was just wrong based on the amount of pain I was in. When I arrive, they were very nice and I go in immediately due to my situation. When I got to the back I was asking for something to make the pain stop the nurse told me the best patient don’t feel entitled to pain medication when they’re in pain. I was 8 cm dilated in full labor. The nurses here do not have compassion. I am African-American woman I do not feel like she took my pain seriously or my thoughts. She left me in pain until somebody else came after I’ve had to make a complaint. If I could, I will give this hospital zero stars. Also, when I asked for patient relations number they acted as if I was crazy One Doctor told me that there was no patient relations for Oak Park Hospital. This hospital needs to be shut down for now the treat there patience
