Brought my son in needing stitches, broken nose, possible concussion. We were in the lobby for 20 minutes 3 feet from someone throwing up. Then waited in the hallway of the ER for over an hour before CT scan. It was 2.5 hours before seeing a doctor and moving to a room. It was more than 4 hours before actually getting stitches, 5 hours before we got to leave. I've lived in DG for 12 years. I want to be able to use our hospital, but every time am disappointed by similar bad experiences.

Your nurses and doctors have no regard for their patience. My mother sat in her urine for 2 hours after the nurse told her she would come right back. They changed my mothers meds without informing anyone. They told my mother she had "STAGE 3 STOMACH CANCER" 2 years ago and now they don't know if she ever had it to begin with. I have phone calls going into attorneys and into the Hospital Administration to investigate. I am not happy with this hospital at all. SHAME ON THEM. my mother is a disabled woman.

Outstanding services. Both my husband and I visited their ER, GI lab, and other departments of this hospital and are very happy with staff, facilities, procedures and overall care they provided. Keep up great work, Good Sam!

The scrawny Caucasian woman with black hair and a terrible attitude who works at the front desk of the Critical Care Unit with the fake broom eyelashes is extremely rude EVERYTIME. Not professional at all. Definitely has a huge power trip over having a glorified doorman position. Zero empathy, especially your loved one is extremely ill. Hope this lady reads it, she's actually awful.

Terrible experience. If I could give it 0 stars I would. To begin with the social worker in the er was very unprofessional lied on my name about what my answers to her questions were. Like apparently I was suicidal according to the nurse upstairs once I got my room. Psychiatrist is very unprofessional. Don’t know how to do their job. Asked me 2 questions before deciding to send me to the psych ward. She decided I was going because I didn’t wanna properly answer her question. Don’t remember her name, but She was an Indian women with glasses and cross eyed. And I believe the blonde women she came in with. Which I believe was a therapist which both were very rude. They also kept some of my property and I was discharged about 2 weeks ago I never received it. Don’t go here especially for mental health THEY DO NOT CARE !!!

I am really surprised to see all the negative reviews. I can't speak for my dad who was the patient but from what I saw the experience was phenomenal. The hospital was clean and orderly, the nurses took care of my dad, my mom, and myself, the cafeteria and Cafe were both great(big shout out to the chef in the cafeteria); finally, my dad's health and well being was taken seriously and with the upmost care. I'll add to this depending how my dad's overnight stay is.

Z ERO STARS for Mental health Unit. The staff are crazier than the pt's. The psychiatrist and social worker both lied to me,then denied what they said. Horrible, Treat adults like pre schoolers. If you think you will learn a lot and have a lot of groups,no,you won't.Most of the day is sitting in the TV room watching TV. I was shocked my stay was 6 days! Psychiatrist sees you every day for about 1 min. There were 36 pts on the unit being seen by 2 psychiatrist! They are making enormous amts of money and could not replace a broken washer and dryer during my 6 day stay.

This hospital and doctors thought it would be a great idea to discharge my mother to a facility with zero prescriptions or pain medicine despite pain levels near a full 10. The overall care for her stay good, but a complete 100% failure during discharge. She's now in pain without care and getting in touch of the doctors in this network is IMPOSSIBLE. They simply do no respond despite 9 messages over the course of 24 hours. Good luck getting care here after you are discharged.

I had the most lovely experience here. Granted I had a very minor procedure but I did have to be put under anesthesia with the help of Dr. Bastion who was the most kind gentleman. My nurse Judith was there along the way keeping my spirits up and reassuring each step they would go though with Theo who helped me as well and so many other sweet nurses. Everything was thoroughly explained, I was never in discomfort and always made sure I felt safe under their care. How kind to have people bring me warm blankets, dim lights, and so soft spoken or funny! My experience in the surgery department was nothing but lovely and I am so thankful they provided me with such great care. It seemed like they all loved to be there helping others and making an impact on people’s lives. I am lucky I was in no emergency and that my reasoning for being there was all smooth sailing. Cannot thank my nurses enough for their warmth.

Every single time I deliver a specimen to the blood bank at this hospital, Rachel always gives me a hard time. She takes multiple phone calls and she makes me wait 30 mins or more to review the information that I put in the log book and to make sure the specimen/specimens match the information that I put in the log book. She is the only person who does that at this location. When I come to this location and once I find out that she is the one that I have to deal with, I just want to walk out but instead I deal with her. Its never another person working with her. It shouldn't take 30 mins to review what I wrote down in the log book and to check to see if the information that I wrote down in the log book matches the specimen that I am delivering to them. I NEVER deliver no more than 2 specimens at a time and her excuse every single time she takes 30 mins she will say this is very sensitive information and that she needs to take her time. But it doesn't take 30 mins to check accuracy. I am bringing a specimen or two specimens to your blood bank. She takes multiple phone calls and she will walk off and go help another person while I am standing right there. She makes everyone else a priority over the delivery drivers, every SINGLE time. We have to be on time for our appointments. I am always late for either another delivery or a pick up when I have to deal with Rachel. she has blonde hair and wears glasses. The way she acts is ridiculous.

This place is pathetic. No compassion what so ever. Not to mention the front ER receptionists are a complete joke!!! The heavy lady just sits there and seems to always have a slick comment whenever a new patient walks in to be seen. There is always a minimum of an hour wait even when the waiting room is empty and no matter how bad the emergency is. Its a shame that anyone has to be subjected to that type of behavior from medical staff. HUMAN RESOURCES REALLY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES.

What a great experience in the emergency room today. Everyone was very friendly and caring. I was put in a room within 5 mins. and seen by the Doctor really quick. I can’t remember everyone’s name I came in contact with but Kristin the nurse was amazing along with everyone else. Thank You!

This hospital has went completely down... When you walk in this hospital it was one person at the front desk. She was the triage nurse and she had to direct everyone walking in the door where to go. So when we got to the back they tell my family member that her room.would be right here in the hallway.. So when did it become ok to see patient in the hallway? So hippa doesn't mean anything anymore. I am an nurse and I would never treat a patient in the hallway and no privacy. So it's ok for everyone to hear your health issues. Then they have a nurse that didn't know what she was doing put in a IV which she couldn't do she she went straight for the hand which is painful for someone who is scared. Then she started bleeding and she didn't even put a bandaid on it.

Patient verbally abused while patient advocate on speaker listening in. Nurses fled room once advocate spoke up telling them to stop yelling and abusing patient. Patient unable to walk left in bathroom for hour. Waited 4 hours to be taken to bathroom. Hospital floor not busy at all from Feb 5 to 23. Nurses station had 3 nurses with backs to their computers talking and laughing about personal life. Patient given wrong meds every day. This medication was on the list of meds not to be given to pt. Consequently patient became sicker. Discharged against her will to.an unsafe nursing home. That is illegal. Good Sam will be sued --again. DO NOT GO TO THIS HORRIBLE HOSPITAL.

Not a Veteran Friendly Business. They illegally charged me for services provided. I was approved for an outside surgery by the VA, fully authorized. The hospital sent the bill to the wrong address, instead of correcting the address, they decided to bill me instead. This is illegal under Public Law 111-163. I was able to get the first bill taken cared of but seem to be having problems with the second bill which has now gone to collections. We (myself and Veteran Affairs) have not been able to get ahold of them as their customer service line states they are "unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances" and give no other way of getting ahold of them. I advise to avoid this business at all costs. ETA: this surgery was fully authorized for 3/15/2019. It’s now 3/17/2022 and I’m still dealing with getting this properly taken cared of. It was sent to collections which was also illegal. This was illegally charged and illegally sent to collections when it was a fully authorized surgery by the VA

I had an emergency surgery and blood transfusion a couple of nights ago. I was very close to losing my life. I am so grateful to live near this amazing hospital. Besides the intake staff, everyone was so caring, patient, and kind. I was screaming for my life in the waiting room, and I was bleeding internally and it seemed like the security guards were more concerned than the blonde, pregnant lady working in the emergency room where they process new patients. She slammed the new door that they made at her desk and gave me a disgusted and annoyed look. Turns out, I was very close to losing my life. There was a few amazing nurses from floor 4 who took care of me and made me feel comfortable and helped me during the worst time of my life. Meghan and Levy have a huge heart and I’ll never forget how much they helped me and checked up on me, and even made me smile and laugh when I had nothing to smile about. Dr. Shawn and his staff saved my life and I will always be grateful for the amazing work that he does. I wish I could name all of the wonderful staff but I was on so many medications, I cannot remember everyone’s name. These are the people who particularly stood out to me and deserve to be recognized. Thank you Good Samaritan for saving my life. I cannot express how grateful I am and I will remember these people for my entire lifetime. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great attentive kind nurses, great room service. Great phlebotomists that came to draw my blood, got it in one stick in the arm that usually people have a hard time with. Made my unexpected stay here a great experience. Came in for medical issues relating to my pregnancy but I look forward to giving birth at this place eventually. Thank you to Wendy and Erin - very knowledgeable helpful kind RNs!

Reading the reviews makes me think people are talking about two different hospitals! Both of my experiences with Good Samaritan have been so positive. There was some confusion at my doctors office prior to my most recent procedure and the Good Sam staff was phenomenol!! The charge nurse and the director (?) went above and beyond to get things cleared up with my doctors office. They most certainly could have forced me to reschedule, but they spent time and a ton of effort to make things happen for me. The radiology staff and anesthesioloist were top notch! They listened to me and gave me so much input which allowed me to modify my procedure to be less invasive. I really could not be happier with the service and support I received.

I’ve been to this hospital many times one of the 2 hospitals I go to… I’ve been to Edward hospital in Lisle and Good Sam! I’ve had amazing experiences all the time I have epilepsy and that’s why I come here a few times a yr. I get taken in by family members or friends and if really bad someone calls the ambulance they’ve taken amazing care of me all the times I’ve been here and they contact my Neurologist them selfs so i don’t have to the last time I was here was 3/27/22 because of a seizure I was taken care of in the hall way due to lack of beds and that didn’t bother me at all because atleast I was getting the help I needed ! They make great choices for you and they have found out the medication I needed right away! This will forever be one of my go to hospitals when need to go ! My Neurologist is based out of university Chicago medical hospital so down town Chicago and they still contact him or his team each time I go to the hospital for seizures I always thought I would or a family member reach out to my Nerologist and his team but no they do it all for you and when needing to get transported they provide the transportation for me to university Chicago medicine hospital. Yes I have to pay the ER bill , and the transportation bill and of course if I take a ambulance that bill as well and it’s all expensive but at least I’m getting the help I need. The past few times I went to the ER At GoodSam I never had to be transported to university Chicago medicine because they I think understand my seizures now since I’ve been there many times and know the best combination of medicine to give me and they even give me a doctors note saying I have to be off for 3/5 days til being able to return! I love this hospital they care very deeply about their patients

I was on the 4th floor of this hospital due to Gall Bladder issues. Some of the staff that I dealt with: Alyssa, Loveth, Camisha, Mary Anne, Shelli, Aleksandra, Nurse with the first initial B, Samira and honestly a lovely young woman who took many vitals many times (long braided hair), the other staff (nurses), floor physician were all so so kind and caring. Honestly. Each and every one. My apologies for not remembering all the names! Even the lab techs, dietary, xray/mri techs and custodial care…… Bravo! Very lovely and wonderful people! Made my stay a whole lot easier! Thank you so very much! You are a big asset to this hospital and I really hope they know this! Thank you! :)

I went into the ER with my father because he had extremely high blood pressure and had a pacer put in for a big heart attack he had a couple years ago. After getting checked and confirming his blood pressure was very concerningly high. We waited for almost 5 hours, I asked a lady named Sarah at the front desk of the emergency department how much longer we would have to wait. She told me she had no way of knowing and she had people waiting for almost 4 hours. I then proceeded to tell her we have been waiting for almost 5 and my father was starting to feel even worse. She then said “That’s great I have a lot of people that don’t feel good”, she was extremely rude and dismissive. After this frustrating discussion we waited for another 30 minutes and I decided to take my father to another hospital. I now see this hospital is charging my father over $300 for our nightmare ordeal. Beware of this women named Sarah, her attitude in such a stressful situation was very unprofessional and disappointing. I will never return to this hospital they treat patients, even in emergency situations, terribly.

Was treated in their emergancy room for an acute episode of an autoimmune disease for which I have been treated many times before. They sent orders to the pharmacy for the wrong medicine. I took it anyway since it was related to the same medicine which has always worked before. I had a severe reaction to this medication. When I called for the correct medicaltion, I was told I had to go to one of their outpatient cilinics to get it. It required two visits where all they did was check the computer and call the pharmacy. They charged me 4 deductables ( 2 for medical care and 2 for the facility)for this. It has been 7 months and I just got a collection notice for another deductable. I have called their client relations 6 times during business hours and got a recorded message that they were not answerig their phones. I called their business office and left a message that was not returned. I called their 800 number and was told to call client relations.

I was at the ER last night for a possible blood clot. I was treated so well. The nurses were fantastic. Dr Michael Antonioni was so wonderful. Intelligent and to the point. I tend to not seek medical attention but I was scared. Good Sam is lucky to have him. I wanted to ask him if he was related to the famous director but I didn’t want to take up his time. I will be watching Michelangelo Antonioni movies all day!

Just got out of a 4 day stay here - honestly some of the best healthcare I've ever received. I was seen right away for an emergency visit and within a few hours, I was told they wanted to keep me overnight possibly for a few days - the fastest I've ever gotten treatment at emergency. I didn't want that obviously because who does, but they very quickly were able to tell me what was wrong and knew what to do about it. The rooms were very clean, the staff was super friendly and attentive, and they took my symptoms and pain management very seriously. I rarely ever had a long wait time after calling for help during my stay. Visitation hours were very lenient so my husband was able to visit me and entertain me a little each day which really helped as I am not much of a tv watcher even when that's literally the only thing I can do for entertainment. The food wasn't the best, but it is hospital food so that's to be expected, however, they had a large menu and I was quickly able to figure out what I would like (I personally recommend the breakfast menu if you're on the regular diet!) It usually came within a half hour of ordering. I want to make a special shout out to my anesthesiogist - he was really fun and helped calm my nerves before my surgery though I admittedly don't remember his name (Dr. B-something?) as I wasn't feeling well. While I didn't like being in the hospital for that long, I really appreciate the call to keep me until my infection went down as that shows they truly wanted to make sure I was okay before discharge.

They can clearly hear my girlfriend aggressively vomiting from the front but refused to see her. It's been two hours and she has been "next in line" for over an hour. The nurses lied about how long she has been here just to keep us in the waiting room. EDIT: We got taken back and there is BLOOD ON THE CALL BUTTON. There was even more on the backside too

Amazing people who work there. Was treated with care and smiles at the Registration desk. Nurses are what makes this place so special. They provide wonderful care for patients regardless of the unit they are assigned to. They need to be reminded how much their work is appreciated more often. Doctors are fantastic too. Thank you.

Today I took my friend up to your hospital to have his pacemaker generator replaced and just want to thank the staff that took care of him for such an outstanding visit! The professionalism and kindness totally put him at ease and when he got home he was telling everyone about the amazing care he received! I wish I could remember everyone’s name to thank them but I have a feeling that the entire staff at your facility is as awesome as the people that we met today! Thank you, thank you!

Extraordinary nursing care from everyone we came in contact with. Friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Everything about procedure was explained and all questions were answered. This hospital has a welcoming feeling to it from being greeted by everyone with a genuine hello to the cleanliness of every floor and room to the amazing artwork on the walls. Very pleasant experience.

People of color beware! This hospital will send you home with nothing to treat pain! Our pain doesn’t measure up to theirs! Dr Candido didn’t care at all. Dr Praveen Parvathala was disrespectful. Dr Maziyar Mirhosseini completely dismissed everything I was telling him. All three were under the impression that I was seeking opiates, Instead of thinking something really is wrong. I only came here because the ER I go to was overly full. Past a 12 hour wait time. I received inhumane treatment. Thank you

Went to the ER with vertigo, feeling lightheaded, vision problems, balance issues, nausea, etc. I suffered a concussion a month prior and wasn't sure if this was related. They conducted an MRI and CT scan of my brain, a CT and ultrasound of my eye to check for retinal detachment. Overall, this was the most attentive care I've ever received. I felt like they really wanted to cover all the bases and check everything. Dr. and nurse care was top notch and I plan to return if I ever need a future ER visit.

And she keeps digging with gauze or something, I felt an painful scratch and vision hasn't been the same. Kinda feel like they sad clowned me on purpose in attempt to teach me an lesson. Idk this world is sad.

Went to ER doctor releases me telling me there are prescriptions called in. You later find out that doctor called the pharmacy after I left and canceled them. It erases everything good everyone did in that hospital, a lot of good people and their efforts are lost.

I had an EGD. One hour after the nurse was prodding me to get my husband who was already coming. They wheeled me half asleep in the radiology department. I was waiting there unmonitored in desperate need to recover from sedation. They gave me a monitor that required my constant input. I didn't remember how because I was sedated. Why can't they teach before the procedure! Why can't I recover until I'm safe to go home. Why can't they describe the test procedure? I believed I was having an Egd procedure and intervention. They couldn't tell what is going on,!!!

Very friendly and attentive staff. A very nice facility. However, I live in Sugar Grove and was very disappointed that I must travel all the way to Downers Grove (26 miles one way) or Elgin instead of a local hospital like Ascension Mercy (12 miles) or Rush Copley (13 miles). Why can't patients of Advocate go to a local hospital? Will this be the case whenever an Advocate patient needs services only available in a hospital?

This was my first time at Good Samaritan hospital. Everyone was great from the greeter at the entrance, the lady who checked me in, all the amazing nurses and Doctor Julka. I was pretty nervous. The hospital is big and a little overwhelming. The care was A plus. It was a very good experience.

Incredibly rude. Just watched the front desk people in the emergency department give an elderly woman who was clearly out of breath the run around. The girl made her explain her story twice. Again clearly exasperated and exhausted already. They have one patient and they’re telling people what chairs to sit in etc. if you love your family I would not bring them here. Rude employees for reference.

Very satisfied with this hospital. My family member had 2 lengthy operations and an extended ICU stay. The nurses were so great with patient care making sure everything was done correctly and that she was comfortable. I could tell they cared about the patient. Dr. Sugrue and his team were very good at explaining the procedure and answering questions. I was impressed with how they kept the family updated during surgery with texts. The family waiting area on the second floor was comfortable and there were lockers for your stuff, a gift shop, coffee shop, and cafeteria. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

If your loved one has special needs, find a different facility. Hospital policies and procedures are more important than the patient's needs. I repeatedly told the doctors and nurses what would make my autistic son's surgery easier for him, but they still started with their procedures.

A month ago I had a caesarean section for my baby to be born in this hospital and our experience was truly incredible. The hospital is very well organized and clean. All the staff we interact with are very professional. Doctors, Specialists, Anesthesiologists, Assistants, Nurses, Stretcher-bearers, Pediatricians, Detention personnel, Maintenance personnel, Security, Administrative personnel, Registration, Laboratory. Everyone carried out their work with great affection, responsibility and attention. I really recommend it 100%

Super impressed with this hospital. I find the nurses very professional as well as kind and friendly. I have a new set of doctors who make me feel that I am in good hands. It is sometimes difficult and challenging to change hospitals and doctors. Not this year. I feel very secure with my changes and am very thankful.

Everyone was pleasant and efficient. They made me comfortable and relaxed. When I got cold they supplied me with a warm blanket. They answered all my questions thoroughly. I felt I could trust them to take good care of me. Thank you!

I went here when I had an emergency and didn't realize it was out of network for my insurance. They never bothered to tell me and now I owe $33,000. When I called the patient relations, they would not budge on the bill. Worst thing of the whole situation is they could not repair my collapsed lung so I had to leave and go to Hinsdale Hospital. The level of care was night and day. I left Good Sam with a pulmonary embolism and several clots and Hinsdale had to take perform extra procedures to make sure I didn't throw a clot. All this resulted from the poor care at Good Sam. Worst Hospital in the western suburbs.

I have experienced the most caring personable nurses at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital during my recent surgery. All of my encounter from the information desk, registration, anesthesiologists, and surgeon was such a positive experience. Thank you for all that you do. May God continue to bless you.

Abysmal place to give birth. I mean absolutely atrocious from start to finish. Don't get me wrong, our doctor who we saw through the whole 9 months of pregnancy was awesome. The nurses for labor and delivery? Ill mannered. The care afterwards was insane. Nurses seemed totally unprofessional and indifferent towards my wife and child. The BILLING PROCESS was terrible. They did not run my insurance properly which meant I was stuck tracking down individual bills in the THOUSANDS of dollars and having to resubmit paperwork over and over again. Additionally, I find out I overpaid on a bill by hundreds of dollars because of their screw up just to keep the thing from going to collections while they took their sweet time figuring my insurance out. It took me over a YEAR to settle things completely and I'm still fighting to try and get my money back from overpaying. Unacceptable. Utterly unacceptable.

30 years going only to Good Samaritan for ALL my medical procedures. Everything from multiple open heart surgeries to diagnostics, labs, rehab and imaging. I have them listed on my Medical ID bracelet as preferred emergency destination. Best staff, nurses and doctors. You can't help but get well sooner there. Thank you all for you have done for me and my family.

Went in with chest/abdominal pain and was seen very quickly. Ended up needing to have my gallbladder removed. Everything was well explained by the doctors and they genuinely seemed to care when they talked to you. Shout out to the awesome nursing staff for keeping my spirits up on what could be a scary time.
