We had a party platter from here and it was super amazing! Delicious food, generous portions, and we can tell they used quality ingredients. We were definitely impressed and will be visiting here more frequently! This establishment is a gem and I'm super glad they are here in Lombard. Highly recommended!

Eh. The food was okay. The 5 star reviews are clearly from people that aren’t middle eastern or have had really good Arabic food. My opinion. Definitely doesn’t deserve the hype. Update 10/3/2020: After leaving my review here yesterday, the people of Jerusalem cafe took it upon themselves to reply in a snarky pretentious way LOL. Thank you for that. You just made it easier to leave an even worse review for terrible service. It doesn’t matter how many “awards” or “recognitions” you have. If the food AND service clearly doesn’t amount to whatever TV special years ago to now then my review still stands. DEFINITELY will not be eating here again. Thank God for Pita Pita ;)

The cashier lady came off pretty standoffish and is not that friendly. Middle Eastern food is one of our top 5 cuisines but this place misses the mark all around. The food is not good either. Normally, falafels have a parsley-mint, green inside. These falafels have a weird 'cinnamon-y' (maybe clove) flavor and the service was awful. The hummus is very bland and is not that good either. The chicken is dry, flavorless, and overcooked. The grape leaves were busted up and out of shape. The food took 30 minutes or more to come out! Save your time and go to IDOF which is right down the street. Falafels should take less than 2 minutes to make!

Super yummy food! We went here for lunch. They have so many options and extremely reasonable prices. The falafels and hummus were fabulous, and the lamb was great too. Highly recommend!

Excellent gyro plate with rice pilaf. Meat was tender with crispy edges. Make sure to get the red and green sauces, very fresh and has some good heat and flavor. Had this for the first time tonight and loved it. I usually get the hummus and shawarma with chicken which is recommended as well. Decent portions size.

Tough one here... The food was really good, especially the beef shawarma...It was incredible to say the least...The chicken shawarma was avg...It was tender, but a bit light on the seasoning...The rice was good and the falafel was on the upper end of ones I've had previously...They charge you for sauce that you might want with your meal...The front counter gave me two 2oz cups of two different sauces to try out, which were good... My issue was cleanliness...If you zoom in on the fountain dispenser you will see black film where the soda dispenses on all of the flavors ... Underneath the machine looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while as well...I wondered what the inside of the ice dispenser looked like and the lines for the soda as well... There are other spots that need a deep cleaning as well... Everyone I came across, especially at the counter were friendly and courteous...The pricing for what they offer for their lunch combination special is pretty amazing for the amount of food you are served... Once again, good food, good pricing and some detailed cleaning is sorely needed...

The food is alright. Falafel tasted kinda weird. I think they use old oil to fry it. The lunch special was tasty but I ordered carryout and they gave no sauce at all. So I was pretty disappointed. The food is too dry without the sauce. They give a looot of rice. Portion size is good.

Didn't love as much as I thought I would after seeing all the photos and reviews, but regardless food was OK. This one is a casual Mediterranean cafe that seems to have taken over what might have been a diner at one point. Bright red exterior makes it hard to miss when we drove to find it. Definitely a hole in the wall sort of spot and a bit dated feeling. Plenty of seating when we dropped by on a weekend for an early dinner, yet seemed to be quite the spot take out. In regards to food, we did a series of entree plates to share between 4 ppl. I personally think it's deceiving how much food you actually think you're getting. I thought we'd have quite a bit of leftover, but ended up with just a lot of rice pilaf to take home. Meats were on the dry side and rice was a overly oily and had me worried about my stains on my clothes. Anyways, I think the lunch combo specials might be the better value here opposed to the full priced entrees. On the plus side, I did enjoy the tabouleh salad and baba ghanoush. That's all I got on this one. 'Til next time, cheers!

Every time I order food through a delivery service, this place always manages to mess it up. I’m beginning to wonder if they’re doing it on purpose or just don’t seem to care anymore.

Damn good food! Got the vegetarian combo platter and all of it (baba ghannoug, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh, falafel) was delicious. Full of flavor. Will definitely come back again! Superb!

Great flavors, wonderful food and a fabulous experience for me and my family for my 40th Birthday. The staff is very educated and family oriented with food drinks for Middle Eastern Cuisine. I am definitely coming back with a party in a fabulous environment. Thank you Jerusalem Cafe for a wonderful experience for me and my family 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

I'm IN LOVE with Jerusalem Cafe 😍 Ever since we moved here from the city, it's been my favorite place to enjoy a great meal at home on the weekends. And the restaurant itself is wonderful, too- just a welcoming spot for everyone that I take all my friends to when they visit. The falafel is to die for, super light yet crispy and garlicky. Fantastic hummus, and exceptionally well seasoned and seared meat and delicious baklava and fruit drinks. Highly highly recommend 😋😋😋

I found this to be the best Mediterranean food I've ever had. Got one special for about 7.60 And it came with a ton of food. The shawarma, falafel, and little hamburger patty things were exceptional! I definitely ate too much because it was too delicious to stop.

Ordered the Vegetarian Combo Plate online for pick up, and got a cheaper filafel plate. I got cheated about the price of another meal. Will not be trying this place again. Was not satisfied with what I recieved. Barely ate any of it. I regret tipping 20 percent as well. The employees or owners sat right next to the counter eating without masks. No room to even move past them to pick up the food.

Stopped here with my family and it was even better than we expected. The owner was very welcoming and offered recommendations, the food was delicious and had great portions. The combination plate is a great way to try different things. Make sure you stop by here for an authentic Mediterranean meal. Will definitely be back next time we are in town

What s great local find in Lombard. Lots of menu items. Needed more time to make a selection as it's order at counter. Pleasantly surprised when they served use our food at our table. Nice! Great portion size for gyro plate. Enough left over for lunch next day. Very tasty and authentic.

The Jerusalem Cafe is a charming Mediterranean-style dine-in restaurant that offers authentic, delicious, and reasonably priced food. The entree portions are generous, and the kebabs are especially noteworthy. I highly recommend trying the chicken shawarma entree with rice and vegetables, as it was absolutely delicious. The freshly squeezed juices are also excellent. Overall, this restaurant is a must-try, and I highly recommend it.

Came in for my lunch for the first time. Extremely satisfied with everything from the food to the service. Didn’t wait more than 5 min or so for my food. Extremely convenient since I was on lunch. Leave the cooks a tip because they are well deserving of any additional money that can be given to this restaurant. Thank you.

Stopped out of curiosity, will return every time we're in that area! Owner suggested we get the lunch special - a sampler of all their Mediterranean meats and salad. This was amazing 👏 Tasty and healthy in one stop!

I use to love this place. They have delicious food, but the woman/ cashier who takes your order started acting unprofessional. If I place an order on the phone, she keeps you on hold or hangs up, and if you are at the restaurant, she does not acknowledge the customers. She has an attitude. Therefore, I will not be going to this restaurant anymore. They also got stingy with their sauces. Both locations. You have to pay for the sauce.

I ordered for delivery. Just a gyros and sandwich and fries. The gyros meat and the pita bread were good. I’ve never had lettuce on a gyros before but figured I’d try it since that’s how they make it. It was a pile of wilted lettuce. Once I got through that, underneath was two of the most anorexic unripened tomato slices. I’m glad I ordered the Tzatziki sauce on the side. It was awful. Maybe old?

I went for dinner on Saturday night. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and fairly priced. I highly recommend this place if you like middle eastern food and you’re in the Lombard area.

  • 4/5 Kris S. 8 months ago on Google
The location is a little outdated. The food is affordable and tastes pretty good 👍🏾. My only criticism would be that the fries were cold and as if they were left overs and you have to pay for a side of their hot sauce. I would definitely go back for the food and friendly staff.

Jerusalem Cafe is a nice place to get a quick bite to eat. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious while the platters are large and generously proportioned. Prices are also exceedingly reasonable. The service is excellent but the ambiance leaves something to be desired. Recommended.

Check out our Youtube Channel-Halal Digest for full review of Jerusalem Cafe's Amazing Shawama and Hummus. We reviewed BOTH their Beef AND Chicken shawarma, Kifta Kabob Sandwich, and one of the best hummus we have had in Chicago with their super fresh pita bread! Customer service was excellent and best of all its HFSAA and HMS certified!

Highly recommend this place!!! Burgers where Juicy, fries were on point, and the overall flavor of the food was great. They don't have much on the menu but that's what makes the place even better! If your looking for a quick bite but also feel satisfied with your meal definitely try this place

The food was amazing. It's hard finding food that is somewhat healthy when dining out. My entire family loved our meal and it tasted like it came out of someone kitchen at home. We'll definitely order again.

You are wondering what food they serve here. It’s good Mediterranean. Servers are always attentive and clearly want you to enjoy your food. As for what to order, their baba ganoush, their hummus, their grape leaves (love!) are all good. Entres like the beef kefta and their shawarmas are classics they slam dunk. Come to think of it, I’ve never brought food home from this place that has been disappointing. Quality here. Try it.

Call and ordered lunch for pickup. When I arrived they told me there is no order for my name. When I showed them my call log they told me - sorry we lost your order. I got in trouble at work for coming late

Rock solid! If the feast combo is any indication, you can't go wrong with Jerusalem Cafe's selection — a versatile all-arounder in mediterranean fare. Portions every bit as generous as the reputation promises at a solid price. Be sure to pick up some of the baklava, too. It's luxuriously flakey and has a subtle sweetness that's a perfect closer to any meal.

  • 5/5 Fahad B. 3 years ago on Google
Honestly one of the best middle eastern food I have ever had. They have a different taste from the other places around. There shawarma and beef kabobs are so juicy. The saces that come with it at another flavor as well. I frequent this places whenever I can on my lunch break.

  • 2/5 Judy C. 3 years ago on Google
The service is really bad, the cashier/waitress was not helpful or friendly. I asked for the ingredients in one of their sauces because of my food allergies, she contradicted herself about the ingredients and acted like she didn't care. The place looks very outdated and not very inviting and not really to impress your first date. The flavor of the food is good, however my lettuce was wilted and with brown/ black in it. Prices are OK. Not a place to impress your first date.

  • 5/5 sandra d. 3 years ago on Google
I've driven by here multiple times and always wanted to stop. I finally got the chance to yesterday! Wonderful food! Excellent customer service and wonderful people. I tried the beef kabob sandwich, and was unsure of one of the ingredients. The ingredient was explained to me and I was delighted to try something entirely new! The food was made fresh and was delicious! I wanted to try something I had never had or even heard of before, the grape leaves, and the owner told me honestly that they are something you either like or hate, and gave me one to try(I loved it!). I also got to try a new dessert, and have found a favorite new treat! Perhaps the nicest thing was that as I was waiting for my sandwich, which I had ordered to go, the owner brought me a cup of tea to try. I am not someone who drinks tea, however, this was absolutely wonderful! Warm and with hints of citrus in a beautiful glass cup, it was wonderful! I loved the atmosphere and the people, not to mention the wonderful food, and will be making this my new go to place!
