I attended my first class on 7/7/22. One of the exercises was to switch between running on a treadmill and working on two kettlebells. Before I stood on the treadmill, the instructor already adjusted the speed to greater than 10. That is to say, the treadmill had been running by itself at a very high speed before I stepped on. The instruction from the trainer is that we should expect to keep our treadmill running while switching to work on kettlebells, and later get back to our treadmill again. Note the studio is aware that the visit was my first-time experience. Following the instruction, I stepped on my treadmill. Two seconds later, I fell and flew out of the treadmill. At that time, I could only see scrapes on my right elbow. The instructor took me the front desk but their first-aid kit didn't have appropriate supplies. Later, I went to Midtown Express Clinic. I got the doctor's note as "the patient has sustained a sprain to her right 2nd digit along with contusion and swelling. Her left knee suffered a second degree burn and her right elbow sustained first degree burn. Will treat left knee for possible infection". Due to the injury on my left knee, I was barely able to walk and exercise for two whole weeks. I reached out to the studio to request medical bill reimbursement due to the dangerous and inappropriate operations at the gym. The studio called me back, confirmed my statement was true, but refused to cover my medical bill. I want to share my experience here. Despite of my frustration caused by the studio's attitude, the operations and safety issues at the studio are concerning.

Everything about the CTF team and facilities makes me homesick. The only reason I'm still not there every morning is because I moved out of state. Steven and the folks who run the place behind the scenes... Are nothing but accomodating and supportive! No matter if it's just checking into a 5am class or a question via email, their responsiveness and positivity is radiating. They even helped me to come back easily on visits, to use my class package after my membership ended. All of the trainers I've had the chance to work with and grow from - Amy, Stacy, Kathryn, Alysha, Joey, Danny, Jess, Jenna and on are hands down the best collection of people I love working out with and being around. I made a strong commitment to myself, to work out with your crew diligently (usually 6am North Side), to start at 3 times a week with my body aching every day and move up to 5-6 days a week. You each helped me accomplish a consistent goal in my life (and feel so fantastic and confident) during a time when my life was pure chaos and challenge personally. When things were just crumbling on a diligent basis... You helped me understand why I deserved at least an hour a day to be better. To take control of some unforseen goal and deliver and push it. I cannot explain to you enough what your team and place have meant to me and what it impacted me to 'drive forward' in the rest of my life. Thank you over and over. Everyone should take a chance with you guys!! Cheers from the West coast, M PS Special hugs to the CTF Northside team and the Mitchell's who introduced me to the magic of CTF.

Crosstown is a wonderful place to get strong or very strong. Great trainers, good class availability, you can always get in, even when busy. Excellent community as well. Lots of strong, kind folks. Safe place as well, you can be seen and cared for.

The work out was great. Very intense and just a good workout. Definitely a good workout for people who already work out. I also see it being great for beginners who have a goal to be strong and finish the workout. The trainers were super supportive and came around with corrections on form if needed. A really good workout!

I LOVE Crosstown. The workouts are always challenging and the trainers are knowledgeable and encouraging. Beyond the workouts, the CTF community is also the best. My CTF classes are the best hours of my week!

I love this place! The instructors are great and the workouts are challenging. Everyday is different. They put in place all necessary precautions to make sure it is clean and safe. All attendees wear masks, equipment is cleaned and sanitized after every use, and there are shields in between all cardio machines. I have always felt safe and welcome here. Due to the current restrictions, there is open gym instead of group classes. Each open gym session still has a workout to follow and all necessary equipment. It is great! Crosstown fitness has done a great job adjusting to this crazy world we live in. I really enjoy this gym.

The classes are based on HIIT, there are circuits and cardio and weights. I get a killer workout every-time I go. I am used to doing Crossfit but appreciate very much that I can still completely exhaust myself and I am getting more cardio in than my prior Crossfit classes. There is a strength class on Thursdays that incorporates some olympic lifting into the HIIT style workouts. The facility is very nice, parking is easy, the instruction is quality and I really appreciate the 5am class. They host fun fitness related events in the community. All in all I am very happy with this gym.

My boyfriend and I have been taking classes for about two months and we are loving it! We initially joined because they have a wide availability of classes, but we are here to stay because of the fun and effective workouts! We did the complimentary class before purchasing our unlimited memberships and appreciated that there was no pressure to join immediately. Each trainer has their own style and make classes challenging, fun, and motivate you to be better. Overall, all of the staff members are extremely kind and helpful. Shoutout to Chris being so friendly, even at 5am! If you’re feeling hesitant, try a class! You will not regret it and you’ll be stronger than ever!

A HIIT Gem in Chicago I have been on a quest to find the perfect high-intensity interval training (HIIT) gym, and I can confidently say that my search ended when I discovered Crosstown Fitness in Chicago. This fitness haven has exceeded all my expectations and has become my go-to place for an invigorating workout experience. From the moment I stepped into the facility, I was greeted by a friendly and encouraging atmosphere (shout outs to Alex, Chris, and Jonathan). The staff made me feel welcomed and motivated right away. What sets this gym apart is its focus on providing an all-encompassing workout routine that covers running, rowing, biking, kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells, boxes and bodyweight exercises. The variety of exercises keeps me engaged and excited to come back for more. The trainers at Crosstown Fitness are absolute rock stars, especially the amazing women trainers (shout outs to Amy, Lysh, Stacey, and Melissa). Not only are they highly skilled and knowledgeable, but their passion for fitness is contagious. They tailor workouts to suit different fitness levels, ensuring that everyone feels challenged and empowered. I've noticed significant progress in my strength, endurance, and overall fitness, all thanks to their guidance. The class format at Crosstown Fitness is well-structured, ensuring that every minute spent there is utilized to the fullest. The combination of cardio, strength training, and functional movements in each session keeps things fresh and exciting. You never know what to expect, which keeps boredom at bay and keeps you coming back for more. Another aspect that impressed me is the strong sense of community among members. Everyone supports and motivates each other, creating an encouraging and empowering environment. Additionally, the scheduling system is flexible and convenient, with various class timings to accommodate even the busiest of schedules. The gym has 3 locations - West Loop, Roscoe, and Lakeview. Crosstown Fitness in Chicago has become a sanctuary for me. Their workouts have challenged me and the amazing trainers have been instrumental in my fitness journey. If you're looking for a dynamic and empowering fitness community that offers a diverse range of workouts, look no further than Crosstown Fitness. I cannot recommend this gym enough!

I've loved my experience at Crosstown Fitness. The trainers there are extremely helpful and patient. They make sure to curate workouts that can be done by a wide variety of participants. The structure is easy to follow, and you get a ton of cardio in while building full body strength at the same time.

Clean facility, excellent trainers, non repetitive workouts, fun group setting, positive vibes, and challenging workouts are just a few of the reasons I continue to attend CTF

  • 5/5 Anna S. 4 years ago on Google
I love the classes at CTF! As a competitive runner I am always trying to find a balance of workouts that will compliment my cardio and protect me from injuries. These classes are challenging, fun, safe, and the atmosphere is so friendly and encouraging. I highly recommend.

My husband and I did CTF in the West Loop for a month and loved it. The instructors are all awesome. Lots of class times. Saturdays get full quickly, but the weekday 5am class is always available. Even though there are only a couple "types" of classes, we thought the variety at each class was great and we learned a ton of new exercises. Things can get pretty crowded as classes transition from one to the next, but the studio is always clean. This location has childcare, not sure about the other locations. The only reason we didn't continue our membership (and 4 instead of 5 stars) was due to cost.

The best full body and challenging workouts I’ve done .I love how everyday is a different routine and pushes me to limits I didn’t think I had in me . I rave to all my friends how great this place is and how awesome the instructors are . It’s my happy place !

Do NOT come to this gym. Think twice about giving this fitness company any money. They do not care for their customers and are extremely unprofessional. Communication is poor and they can care less about ones fitness goal, they rather make profit and more money off of people. They discriminate and ALEX who is the director will give people different pricing depending on who you are. You pay a crazy amount of money to attend a 30-40 minute class when they specifically say, classes are 60 minutes. I will be sharing this with all friends who are planning to join a fitness class as will.

  • 5/5 Andrew S. 2 years ago on Google
From the moment I stepped in the door the staff was very inviting. They made me feel welcome even though I was only in town for a few days and wouldn't become a member. They walked me through a typical workout and what to expect once class started. Jamie put together a great routine and was encouraging throughout the session. If moved to the area, this is the gym I'd call home.

  • 1/5 Amanda F. 2 years ago on Google
I highly do not recommend CTF. They are EXTREMELY unprofessional and do not care for their customers. My friend and I got a “discounted” membership price which recently ended so I asked Alex (director at CTF) for pricing and more membership options. I was given different pricing from the owner himself (Charlie) and Alex while trying to workout a payment plan because the prices she had given were outrageous. Alex said she would try to lower the pricing a little more, but never got back to me because she stepped out of the office for a few days. I ended up calling CTF and another manager assisted me and told me he’d help me set up something more affordable and that he had some good package deals. We came to an agreement, he took my credit card information and processed my payment. After several days of using my membership I had checked in and Alex had checked me in. I expressed some concerns to Alex regarding different pricing from different people and she took it personal that she lost a deal. Shortly after we parted ways and I continued on to my fitness class, remind you we left off at I “will not be referring anybody else and that now I know how she does business” and that was that. Hours later she emailed me stating that my membership would be canceled because she took our conversation personal because she was trying to get me to pay more money, but her co worker ended up fitting my needs with a membership plan. All in all, this situation is very unprofessional and unethical. I feel I have been targeted and discriminated against due to being the only Latina in the club I have noticed. I rather spend my money with a business that supports their customers and their fitness goals vs trying to rack up money from people.

Great workout and great instructor. I was new to the class and Briana was very accommodating. She showed me how to do the exercises and set up each station with multiple levels of difficulty. I'll definitely be coming back.

Don’t waste your time. No one works the front desk and they couldn’t care less about new members. Went in day 1 and waited 15 mins before anyone even looked at me. Told me to leave my info and they’ll call back. No one called back so I called 3 times on day 2 and no one picked up. Went in again on day 3 and met a manager who gave me the wrong info. Told me to come in the next morning any time after 5 am for a free trial day. Showed up on day 4 at 6 am and was told the other manager gave me the wrong info and I can’t work out there unless I sign up for a class. So all this runaround and still no gym access. Just go to Basecamp, All in Motion, Mode Fitness, or any of the other amazing gyms in the area who actually care about new members (and Mode is actually half the price).

Best gym experience in Chicago! The trainers keep every class new and interesting. You'll never do the same workout twice. If you're new to the city, or just looking for a new routine, I can't recommend CrossTown Fitness enough. They truly cater to all fitness levels.

  • 5/5 Oliver S. 1 year ago on Google
A super positive environment that is focused on learning and has super capable trainers that come prepared to deliver a new and challenging workout and who are also up to the task of instruction whenever needed. I even love that every trainer has their own little spin on warmups. Really speaks to their specialties and what they are most interested in. I've been going to CTF for over a year now and have had a great time every time I go whether it be for class, PT or just for open gym on my own. I also love the summertime events and outdoor classes. You guys seriously rock so please keep doing what you're doing!!

My partner and I purchased a Groupon to try out Crosstown Fitness. From the first day of the membership, when Chris texted us to make sure we were all set up and ready to go, we've continued to be impressed by the genuine care of all the staff at CTF. I've never had a class fill up and there's no cancellation fees, two huge perks. There's classes throughout the days and some fun weekend events too. There's people of varying skill level and the coaches let people modify any workout as needed. It's a very inclusive environment. We signed up for a longer term membership because we like it so much!

Crosstown fitness is the push and motivation I needed! If you are looking for a perfect mix of strength and cardio, this is the gym for you! All the trainers bring energy that make you want to keep moving! I am so happy I started coming here as a guest with my friend.

  • 5/5 Holly B. 1 year ago on Google
I joined Crosstown Fitness when I first moved to Chicago about a year ago. The gym is mostly group-fitness based, which I like, as it keeps me motivated to do more. The trainers are very engaged and high energy, there are a variety of challenging workouts, and you'll always feel like you put in the work when leaving class. The trainers and managers also make a conscious effort to engage with the member base as a community and host various fun get-togethers like beach workouts + paddle boarding, Annual CrossTown Games, and various 5k runs throughout the year. I can't think of a single trainer I've disliked. They all have a passion for helping members achieve their fitness goals, and put in a great deal of time and effort to support the member base. Very glad I've chosen this gym!! Highly recommend you at least check it out and see if it's right for you!

I canceled my membership after one of their trainers Tres Rodgers swindled myself ($4K) and other members out of tens of thousands of dollars in a fake investment scheme. I wish they would have run a background check on this ex-con before they hired him. He was fired in 2016: “We know that you enjoyed training with Tres. But as of today Tres Rodgers will no longer be working at CrossTown Fitness as a trainer. He was terminated this afternoon and has zero affiliation with CTF going forward. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please reach out if you have any questions.”

The facility is nice and the location is great for individuals living in the west loop. For $200+ /mo I expected something more. This is a typical HIIT style boutique fitness studio (similar to a fit body bootcamp or orange theory class) heavily geared towards women’s fitness. Very limited strength training availability (almost exclusively offered in the very very early morning, or the middle of the day when young professionals are at work). If your fitness goals are solely being lean and toned I would highly recommend their HIIT class. I felt properly supported by the instructor, sufficiently motivated to push myself, but not pressured into being pushed past my limit. The gym has the art of HIIT down to a science. If that’s your only goal, you’ve found the right place. For the price point, I would expect this to be a one stop shop for fitness. There is only one platform in the entire gym, but they made space for 3 large single use bathrooms, and a child care center. It’s clear that the target audience is the suburban mom, not a young professional fitness enthusiast. They should market the gym as what it is.

I hit a slump, I retired from the military and my fitness schedule was all over the place... sometimes non existent. I experienced everything you can think of related to lack of fitness, sleep schedule was off, weight gain, moody and lack of flexibility. I attended the gym on one of their promotions for a few weeks and the feeling was amazing. I was sleeping away my soreness, getting excited for the classes and overall feeling great. The trainers are quick to help mid-class when your form is off, or give you a quick tip to help you go harder. My precious golf swing is back and doing well because the classes focus on a great variety of functional fitness. Feeling great mentally and physically because of CTF! Thanks! Eric V
