I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the donuts at Stan's! During our visit to Chicago, it served as a place that was open early enough on our last day that I could quickly grab a donut and coffee before needing to leave for the airport. However, I later wished I had time to explore some of their other flavors. There was a wide variety of donut flavors available to appeal to most tastes, and there was a coffee bar inside with a multitude of coffee options as well.

Great spot for a quick coffee to go or you can stick around and enjoy a breakfast sandwich. The original sandwich had eggs and bacon and it’s far superior to what you would find most places. The bacon was crispy and the eggs were cooked well. I stuck around and worked a little on the laptop. WiFi speed is fast. There aren’t too many seats but it was worth waiting around. The black coffee is strong and they are known for their cold brew on tap. You can buy a mini growler for $13 and refill for $10. I didn’t try a doughnut on this visit but they look delicious.

When you walk in there’s so many donuts to choose from. The PB&J donut was so delicious! Red velvet was soft and moist. Boston cream was my least favorite but the chocolate tasted homemade. I ended up going twice during my trip and got the PB&J donut again. Will have to come back for more donuts in the future.

I wanted some coffee and Google search brought me here! First, what a sweet and aesthetically pleasing place. The theme is so much fun! I ordered an iced latte made with oatmilk and some hazelnut. It was pretty good, the espresso is definitely better than Starbucks but a medium size is about the same as a tall. The reason for the four stars is because I ordered the gluten less pistachio donut and it didn’t really taste anything like pistachio, just glazed sugar with green food coloring. Although, the donut itself was good for being gluten less. The staff is very nice here and very patient considering how many donut options there are and trust me, there are many!! Overall, a fun place to stop at.

Everything is amazing. There are Nutella stuffed donuts and pistachio donuts. But my favorite is the Coconut Cake. So good! The coffee is good too. They have regular drip coffee and loads of cold brew options. If you download the app and join the rewards program you can just load a credit card in there and when you scan is pays and records your rewards all at once. Already earned my first free coffee.

EDIT: My original, 3-star review is below. I reached out to Mr. Gurgone and he asserted that our experience must have been an anomaly. He offered a gift card so we could give this place another shot. I was skeptical, but my friend sampled several donuts and agreed that they were much better than last time. I'm upgrading my review thanks to the great customer service and the apparently better donuts. However, I will reserve the 5th star because I still believe that this level of variance in quality is unacceptable. Original review: I was told these are some of the best donuts in Chicago. I'm not sure what went wrong, but for the first time in 2 decades of eating donuts, today, I had to throw one away. The carrot cake donut and latte I got were great. The chocolate "glazed" donut I got was... I would describe it as a frosted bagel. The bread was dry and fairly hard. The frosting (not glaze) was exactly like a cake's (not in a good way) and had a very weird sour note. I sincerely hope something went very wrong and I got a vegan donut or something. But this can hardly be called a donut.

I've had donuts, but both like this. When I tell you they're worth every penny spent, they really are. I enjoy fresh made food always, so I was delighted to see that their donuts are made right there in store. So many flavors and not to mention they even have cookies now. SAY WHAT !!! This location was clean, the staff was very kind and friendly, not to mention the donuts are phenomenal. You can't go wrong with this location

Coffee is strong and always piping hot. Wonderful on a cold Chicago day. They have a wide variety of donuts available all day long in addition to a large coffee/drink menu. They now have canned cold brew available for purchase in their front refrigerator! I’d recommend the Stan’s croissant donut if it’s available! Did not love the mini donuts. The atmosphere is a little whimsical and their branding is aesthetically pleasing! Lots of merchandise for sale too!

Stan's Donuts & Coffee in Chicago undoubtedly earns a solid four-star rating from me, primarily due to the consistently delectable quality of their donuts. Each visit has been a delightful journey for my taste buds, with their donuts boasting flavors that are nothing short of exceptional. From classic favorites to unique and innovative creations, Stan's has mastered the art of crafting irresistible donuts. However, the one aspect that leaves me scratching my head is the consistently unfriendly demeanor of the employees. It's a perplexing contrast to the delightful experience that the donuts themselves offer. Whether it's a lack of smiles or a general sense of disinterest, the customer service aspect could use a significant improvement. While I can't quite grasp why the employees seem less than enthusiastic, it's a testament to the sheer brilliance of the donuts that I continue to frequent Stan's. The quality of the product has managed to overshadow the less-than-ideal interactions with the staff. It's my hope that the management takes note of this aspect and works towards creating a more welcoming and customer-centric atmosphere. In terms of the physical space, the ambiance at Stan's is charming. The cozy interior coupled with the tantalizing aroma of fresh donuts creates a pleasant environment for enjoying these sweet treats. The variety of options available ensures that there's something to satisfy every craving, making Stan's a go-to spot for indulging in delicious pastries. In conclusion, Stan's Donuts & Coffee deserves high praise for its mouthwatering donuts, securing a solid four-star rating. The only drawback lies in the consistently unfriendly demeanor of the employees, a factor that keeps this review from reaching a perfect score. Despite this, the allure of Stan's irresistible donuts remains, making it a worthwhile destination for any donut enthusiast in Chicago.

These donuts are delicious. The best donuts I have ever had. I had the pretzel shaped glazed and the croissant donut filled with lemon cream. So good!

Beautiful spot for breakfast. The donuts are always fresh, my challenge is choosing just one. Their coffee drinks are amazing and they have the most tasty breakfast sandwiches. Be patient; long lines out the door. But they move pretty fast.

These donuts are AMAZING! I'm in town every couple of months on business and I always hot Stan's. The line is usually wild, but it moves pretty quickly. My favorites are the biscoff, the pistachio glaze, and the Boston creme, but they have a TON of flavors. Their coffee is also really good! I like the cold brew with vanilla foam. It's not too sweet and has a great flavor! If you're in downtown, check them out. They have locations all over the city and this one is right on the way to Millennium Park!

Very cute lovely place. Price is a little one the high end but everything is downtown Chicago. The donuts are all fun looking, quiet interesting and unique. The flavors are good without being to remarquable. Still really good. The place is super clean and the staff is so very friendly and nice.

The coffee was not good, got lattes, could make a better one at home. The donuts were stale, and like the bread of danish, yet drier, less sweet and without any of the creams. The donuts had maybe like a teaspoon of filling in it, the Nutella donut was better than the cookie batter yet that isn’t saying much. Maybe I didn’t get the memo that the donuts are by design dry and not sweet, was more like sweet bread than anything else. But wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, don’t waste 10 bucks for bread and a cup of bad coffee. We had no issue with the service, the environment was nice, the donuts look beautiful, the marketing was good so props to them there.

I only got the regular glazed donut because I didn’t know what they had and my friend was there for coffee. It was still good. The donut was thick and huge and fluffy. Next time I’ll try some of their fun flavors.

First time in Chicago and decided to swing in here for breakfast. Have to say this place is awesome! Such a cool, relaxed vibe with super friendly staff. The donuts were amazing! Never had anything like these big Le stans. Will definitely come visit next time I am in the area for sure.

I went this location 8/13/2023 and I had the opportunity to visit early in the morning. When I first visited it was pretty crowded but it was a big selection of fresh donuts. I had little hard time choosing which donuts I wanted. I decided to get the Carrot Cake And Red Velvet. I really did enjoy my morning here and I will definitely be back.

Stan's Donuts in Chicago is a total winner when it comes to those round, sugary delights we all love. If you're in the Windy City and have a sweet tooth, this spot is a must-hit. Let's talk about those donuts. They're like little rings of happiness—fresh, fluffy, and oh-so-tasty. Whether you're into classic glazed ones that practically melt in your mouth or you fancy something more adventurous like their funky, colorful creations, Stan's has got you covered. Seriously, you might have a tough time picking just one. The vibe here is pretty chill. It's the kind of place where you can swing by for a quick fix or just hang out with friends and indulge in some seriously good treats. And hey, it's Chicago, so you'll likely find yourself rubbing elbows with all sorts of folks, from locals popping in for their morning fix to tourists looking for that quintessential Chicago snack. Plus, the service is top-notch. The folks behind the counter are friendly, always ready with a smile and a suggestion if you're having a hard time choosing between the raspberry-filled or the old-fashioned. In a city known for its food scene, Stan's Donuts holds its own. It's a spot where you can grab a delicious donut that's worth every single calorie and feel like you've just found a slice of pastry heaven in the heart of the city.

When my husband brought me home a gluten free donut from Stan’s , I kept asking if he made a mistake... they tasted too good to be gluten free! I was waiting to get sick, lol! Great flavor selection for gluten free too! LOVE Stan’s donuts! Best around, hands down 👏🙌

I enjoy the donuts. I was there at 9:45 am on a Friday, and they had a line to the door. Seating inside and out was available. I also had the egg bites, and they were pretty good.

I'd never heard of Stan's Donuts & Coffee but was pleasantly surprised when I walked in, apparently it's a Chicago chain. There was a long line to order but the workers were efficient and moved everyone through quickly. I got the cinnamon sugar cake which was absolutely delicious. I am pretty picky about donuts and this definitely delivered. For vegans out there, they do a vegan cinnamon sugar cake donut and a chocolate vegan donut.

Nice and wide range of flavours. We ordered their strawberry glacé donut and their Stan’s coffee (it’s better than Starbucks black coffee)

Visiting Chicago for the first time and was brought here for breakfast. It is AMAZING! Fast and courteous service, affordable, and the food is incredibly tasty. I got the glazed pistachio donut, the lemon croissant donut, and some frozen lemonade. 10/10 would come again

Had a late night sweet tooth, so we went for donuts. We had the Biscoff filled, the pistachio glazed, and a red velvet donut, and all three were amazing. The Biscoff was huge and the filling was generous. Definitely going again before leaving town!

Best to come here before 12 pm to get more variety. I got here around 3 pm and there were very few donuts left. Just cake donut varieties, old fashioned, apple fritter, and a few more. I got an apple fritter and it was the freshest and best I've ever had. I live in Texas and Shipley's apple fritter isn't great.

I wanted to give four stars because of the portions, but that coffee kicked in and my energy has skyrocketed. I found Stan’s through Goldbelly and saw there was a location down the street. So I went for breakfast. The donut is cakey and thick which is good, but the chocolate topped was dry and not good. The bagel sandwich was small but full of flavor. The coffee is strong and was exactly what is needed. Four out of five stars without coffee and five stars with.

I tried the toffee donuts and the Big shoulder vanilla cold brew. I was a bit disappointed. The donuts was more a cake texture then a donuts. The cold brew was not testing vanilla at all. My husband had the cold brew with chocolate milk and it was amazing.

Fantastic donuts. We tried way too many over a couple visits while we were in town. Honestly, the old-fashioneds are where it’s at. But that’s really splitting hairs. We didn’t have a bad donut. (I’m trying to think, have I EVER had a bad donut?) Anyway. It’s great. If you are in the mood for a donut this place will sort you out.

The doughnuts here are GREAT. And yeah, all of the ones on their website are in the store. So good. So many options. You must wear a mask and show proof of vaccination to eat in the restaurant. I'd recommend stopping here if you love to eat doughnuts!

I've been to many gourmet donut shops, and this one takes the cake!! I placed my order and paid online and it was a very smooth process to pick up. The shop is cozy enough that it would have been nice to sit down and enjoy my treats with some coffee. I tried the biscoff pocket and the caramel le stan and I highly recommend both!! Note: they were both incredibly rich, so maybe both at the same time may have been too much :). The caramel le stan is made with a flakey croissant-like dough that was incredible. Layered in between the folds was a delicious caramel that oozed out of the donut upon taking my first bite. Very enjoyable! The biscoff filling had a slightly harder texture from the caramel, and was more chewy. The taste was a perfect ode to biscoff and I will be back to take one to go for my flight!

Coffee was decent but took forever, cookie was good, but the place is filthy! There are peoples’ leftover drinks at the tables, napkins all over the floor, the tables and sticky and there’s no one going around to clean them. Couldn’t wait to get out of there because it was gross. Added a photo of one of the tables. They definitely need to add one staff member to just keep the place clean, wipe tables, clean floors, etc

This place is so good! I couldn't wait to eat the donuts so the pic doesn't show the whole dozen my wife and I got. Even though we showed up right after opening, both employees were welcoming and patient while we took our time. It quickly got busy about 20 minutes after opening (6am on a Sunday... the race was in town) If we ever come back to Chicago, this will be our donut shop for sure! Totally worth the price (which is really good for fresh city donuts). Got a chocolate long john (2), old fashioned, apple fritter, jelly filled, and blueberry.

This was my first time at Stan’s donut. My friend introduce me to them, and I am glad that I went. We tried three different Donuts as I can’t have too much sugar. The donuts were all great. My favorite was the Biscoff donut. There was a line when we got there but we were served pretty quickly. Seating was limited, but we were able to get a seat to enjoy our donuts. The coffee was great. I had a Carmel oat milk latte while my friend had a Frappuccino. Like I said earlier, I can’t have too much sugar so I found the donut to be a bit sweet, but I overall enjoyed them. I would highly recommend and can’t wait to return to try other flavors. The store itself was well-kept and clean. Lastly, service was great, workers were very friendly and helpful with suggestions when needed. .

It's a rainy/snowy day in downtown Chicago. We stopped on for donuts and coffee to warm up. We had a Nutella filled pocket and an apple pie filled croissant donut. Wow is all I can say. The decor is fun and inviting and the donuts where delicious. Definitely a stop if your in the area. EDIT: I came back and tried the peanut butter pocket and the Biscoff cookie pocket. Couldn't help myself.

I had to come to Stan's because I heard, "you have to have a donut from Stan's while in Chicago!" It was such a cute little spot. My daughter loves donuts, so while visiting we checked it out! I will say we should have come earlier to get a better assortment, but they were worth the trip!

These were some of the most moist and delicious donuts I’ve ever had! They are big and filling. There is a big assortment of donuts here. The interior is cool too they offer outdoor seating too.

Loved the crullers, the glazed donuts and the apple fritters. Really tasty donuts! So many flavors and choices.

  • 4/5 Tara M. 1 year ago on Google
Donuts are so good. They have so many different flavors to chose from. We were there right at opening time on Sunday and had no problems with lines. It did get busier around 0930a. Only thing is the restaurant was pretty messy for being just opened and my coffee order was wrong...twice. I drank the second one as it was starting to get busy, but....

  • 5/5 Tim L. 1 year ago on Google
Love this location! Because of the location there’s a lot of foot traffic. Most people just take their orders to go so tables should be available. I really enjoyed their version of the croissant donut. The custard in the Croissant Donut is nice. Even with the filling the donut stays flaky. If you order a drink be prepared to wait a bit. Not sure if they were just understaffed at the time we went, but it took about 10 minutes to get our coffees. Didn’t bother us much as we were dining in, but if you’re in a rush you may want to think twice.
