Members beware! I contacted Edgewater Athletic Club to cancel my membership after having been a member there for a couple of years. Despite written confirmation of my request to cancel, I was charged for four additional months. All emails and calls to this business have gone unreturned and I have contacted BBB for resolution. Having always found the management to be friendly and pleasant, this dishonest exchange was particularly surprising, but I am also out over $350 and they refuse to address it.

No frills gym but the prices are very reasonable. Phillip and Jordan were helpful at the front desk and the BEST MASSEUSE works here. Aaron Hanna does the best soft tissue work and you go through the gym to get to his office. The gym is unique because it is in an old ballroom so there are literally chandeliers in the workout area!!! I want to check out swim lessons here for the kids 10 sessions for $70/hr!

Joined the gym there since I live in the neighborhood and wanted to incorporating swimming into my winter fitness. This is definitely a "down home gym" no frills gym. There are bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, Stairmasters, and rowing machines. However, the indoor road bikes are all stuck in the sizing that they are in. The rowing machines are either out of service or missing pieces to make use more enjoyable like foot straps. Some of them definitely need to be serviced as they catch when in use. The standard bikes are good overall. No complaints there. I haven't used the ellipticals nor the stair machines. So, no comment. And the treadmills function fine. Some of them are also out of order. There is a gym for classes that is nice to use when empty. It has weights, mats, and a nice mirror. There is a view onto the pool. I haven't yet used the pool, but albeit, being on the smaller size, it looks well kept and I look forward to doing some laps in it. There are also a good variety of hours. They also have free towels for use while in the gym, which is a nice perk. The regular weight room has an area for core and weight lighting as well as free weights and racked weight areas. There are ample machines as well. But the weights aren't in the best condition and there isn't a good array of smaller weights in the main weight area. I would say, that the gym could use a renewal... from my partner's perspective, it looks like it hasn't really had any updates in years, but costs about 2 times as much as another area fitness center. The other fitness center doesn't have a pool, but I think Edgewater Fitness has such potential and could be a gym more frequented by the community, if it had more well kept equipment and comparable pricing. I feel like there swim programs are their focus. Appreciate the gym and pool within walking distance, but definitely only plan to use it for the winter to stay moving.

I signed up for gym membership with my son. I was offered a partner rate on a monthly basis . After a month, due to a health concern, I was no longer able to attend. Without my knowledge, I was auto-charged. I went to talk to the manager to get a refund. I informed him that I had not gone to the gym since I had been charged. He told me that he would not give me refund because I had signed up for a yearly contract. I informed that at no time did anyone tell me that I was signing up for the month. Plus, I had not even used the gym since they charged me. I said this in a very calm voice. He then proceed to yell at me. I simply left the gym. The gym is fine, but the behavior of the manager is unprofessional and rude. Be careful when signing up.

Been a member for a few months now. One of the best things about this gym is no sketchy shady contracts like I've encountered at other gyms. They were straight forward with pricing where you can do it month to month, up to annual up front, where longer terms will get you a bigger discount with a 30 day cancellation policy. Everyone who works there is friendly and it's pretty clean. There is a pool, and free towels. I haven't done the massage or any of the classes yet, but really like this gym.

Kid working the desk on Sunday evening is a condescending wise a** Laughed and mocked when I asked about the discount I was told about when I leased an apartment in the same building as the Gym More than one occasion since he has been rude and shown very little respect. Typical of kids today

Affordable neighborhood gym. Not the fanciest or the hippest, but a nice pool, good variety of classes, and all the equipment you probably need. They have lots and lots of swim classes, which means that it can sometimes be hard to find just the right time to swim. Front desk staff is hit or miss, but people are generally nice and leave you alone.

NO COMMUNICATION or COURTESY: signed up for a month, 2 days later I had a family emergency and asked if they could possibly refund, since I only went twice. First person on the phone said yes and took all my info. Never received refund not even partial. Emailed owner 2 times. Called 3 times. This place really let me down. They could do so much better with customer service.

My son has been taking group swimming class here for more than 4 years and he loves it. Allison and Pawel are the best coaches Facilities are fine here although the locker rooms are old and can definitely use some update.

Very expensive for the state that the gym is at. Everything is very old and rusty. I went specifically for the pool. Different people gave me different pool schedules, which was very confusing on when pool is available or not. Pool itself is nice, mostly clean. 18 meters long, half is 3 feet deep and other half is about 6 feet deep. Warm water, comfortable to swim in. They have 30 days cancellation policy, so I went to cancel my membership and asked until when can I still access the gym. They said my membership renews tomorrow, so they simply won’t enforce 30 days cancelation policy, took my key tag and said I am good to go. But this morning they charged me again. Called them, they said sorry for mistake, but we don’t do refunds. The cancellation quest will probably not be such a problem for the most people.

This so far my favorite GYM. It’s nice and clean, never crowded and as a member you can bring for free your kids to swim in open hours. Also staff is nice and friendly and manager too. Other classes are included as yoga, sauna, zoomba etc. They provide personal fitness trainers and swimming lessons too. I’ve been going here for past 7 years.

Edgewater on a regular basis is a really awesome space to workout. It's an elegant looking space that helps super skinny guys like me feel less awkward in the weight room. I think that also takes off the feeling of being intimidated by super athletic weight lifters. The only reason it's four stars as opposed to five is that communication and sign up can sometimes be difficult.

A perfect neighborhood athletic center, replete with all of the amenities you need to accomplish your health and fitness goals, including the neighborhood's only Olympic size pool. Great group fitness room for classes, cardio equipment, strength training equipment, and dare I mention the fanatic staff... you are always welcome and treated as part of a unique experience, set in a 1920's atmosphere, with hints of original fitness origins mixed with cutting edge classes and workshops to help you enjoy the best of both worlds without the need to impress anyone while you achieve your goals. Flexible membership rates and services make your goals always within reach. Stop in and bask in the experience, and achieve your goals.

Received great service from front desk guy, Jordan. Super helpful, friendly, informative & kind. Gave me a tour of the gym and had me sold on a membership! This was my second time coming to the gym, the previous time was during the evening, and this young man really helped me! Nice pool & gym, slightly outdated workout equipment but Jordan’s customer service made me feel valued!!

Great training! I'm currently preparing for a marathon and I needed to know better how to balance my runs with workout sessions. Aaron definitely helped me reach that goal, showing the many ways in which I can train to prevent injuries and build up my endurance. Now I feel confident about my workouts, which is quite a lot considering that I have never been a gym person. Plus he is fun! He knows how to make the training session amenable, with plenty of stories, anecdotes, and professional advice. Other pluses from EAC: Being open from 6am (also on weekends) makes it very convenient to get the day started. There is also plenty of space to do your thing, whether you want to run, swim or do some anaerobic training. The fact that it's within a classy 1920s building like the Sovereign adds to the atmosphere; I strongly recommend checking out the weight machines room.

Gym is really good overall. So the only draw back is the cardio machines are too old. Whenever i run on treadmill, it makes a-lot of noise and it’s scary. Please please upgrade your cardio machines. We are paying alot of money and you guys can use it to upgrade the machines right. Please it’s my humble request. The main reason i took membership in this gym is for cardio and swimming pool. Other than that, I really like the gym :^)
