It was rainy and windy( I know hard to believe in Chicago) but this beach was very nice. It seems that the take descent care of it. It would be a great spot to have a little picnic in my opinion.

Beautiful Area... But there are so many rocks and slags in the water. Your feet are gonna hurt and if u fall, that's a whole other story. Plus the trash needs to be cleaned up but of course the park district lacks in doing it. Off 79th street so be cautious cuz ppl keep up too much riff raff. It was a decent visit tho

Beautiful lake front multi cultures were own enjoying a great day. However, they did refill the toilet paper, but there was no liquid soap to wash your hands and all the sinks were stopped up,also the hand blower dryer didn't work either.

Disappointed with the lack of cleanliness and sand.😏 The kids still managed to enjoy themselves, so it wasn't awful. 🤷🏾‍♀️😊

Usually check out the beaches on the North side or downtown when I'm in the city. Decided to check out this one today. Pleasantly surprised. Nice little hidden gem. Not crowded. Cheap parking. Beach can be a little more of small pebbles than true sand in places. Plenty of lifeguards on staff for any emergencies.

Rainbow Beach Park is huge! The beach itself is probably about 4 blocks long. There is outdoor handball/raquetball, tennis and basketball courts, a field house with programming for young people, 2 beautiful nature areas and a flower garden. The Rainbow beach victory garden is also located in the park, but you must apply to become a member to gain access. This park is great and continuing to become better with time. Look for special events like Kite Day on the Rainbow Beach Park Advisory Council facebook page!

Rainbow Beach fieldhouse was GREAT!!! The staff were great. They were relaxed and smooth. If you needed anything they were helpful. The location had a perfect amount of room. Now the ultimate thing is that Chicagoland skyline in the background. It's a photographers dream! I highly recommend this place. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not bad at all. A little rough around the edges, and the school of hard knocks and a few more police than I liked and a bit more turnt up than I am, but was a overall good beach experience. It is midway on my "return to" list and I had a swell time for what it was.

Just a beach. Summertime is hectic with all the loud music and rude people hanging around. The smell of cannibus in the air will get you higher than Pluto. I stopped going years ago but today February 2, 2024 I just went to sit and look at the waves and ponder about stuff.

I can't truly rate the beach because it was to cold to go swimming, it was only the destination I picked since I've never went to any of the south side beaches past 31st. From my experience it seemed nice and quite and offered a different perspective of the city along with more nature areas and a lot less people than the northern more beaches. So that is a blessing. I must admit it was a little concerning going far south but to my surprise it was quite diverse . I briefly met one of their chef life guards and he seemed kind and respectful. I need to truly try it out on a nicer day to be more accurate but it was beautiful I can tell you that

Driving through town I stopped at this roadside park to take some pictures of the iconic skyline. This place was hopping with activity. Plenty of joggers, bicyclists, weight lifters, and just people, in general, enjoying the perfect weather along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Great place to cleanse your mind and just get out, quiet, you can walk, run, jog, hike, take the kids on a picnic or something , just a soothing place to go , when you just need some quietness in your hectic life.

The beach provided an extraordinary view of the city skyline. The water was clear and crisp. But there were a lot of small rocks that made walking on the beach a little difficult. Overall we had a good experience and I would recommend a visit.

I hadn't been to this beach in YEARS. My cousin decided to barbecue and have a softball game here and I must admit, I was a little leery. Once I got there it looked so different and nice The beach was clean and there was a stage with DJs playing house music. Really nice environment. I enjoyed myself.

I love Rainbow Beach it's the pinnacle of my childhood with my dad and sister. Every summer and winter we would visit this beach and put our legs in the water but we would rarely ever swim in it. I overall this a great place to visit with family or just for alone time to think. The view of Chicago from there is also beautiful too. Hope you visit once.👋😊

It’s an incredible place to hangout and relax, it’s clean, family friendly, great view of the Chicago skyline. The beach is nice and has cool areas for picnics and sitting available. Clean bathrooms too. Offers great parking spots, unfortunately not very accessible if coming by public transportation .

Don't like having to pay to park. Growing up in this city we didn't have to do that. The beach could use a little sprucing up. Get rid of the rocks and replace the sand with cleaner sand.

1st time here! I deliver expedited freight into Chicago and surrounding suburbs but never took time to check out. Wanted to see lake and just sit awhile but the parking was outrageously overpriced then I saw this, free parking! What a wonderful place, great views, breezy, shade here and there. Watching the MSM News and their inadequate reporting you would think that only crazy or desperate people would live here but I travel all over the world US and Chicago is the coolest, nicest place I've seen yet. I knew the summers must be fantastic to put up with your alls winters.

  • 5/5 Sandra C. 2 years ago on Google
I cherished it, the climate was awesome. The group was incredible. Everybody was getting a charge out of family and companion time. Grilling, to excursion/ing and playing in the sand and water. Magnificent sight to see the blend culture too. Can hardly wait to welcome loved ones and return. 😁

A nice little lakeside getaway from downtown Chicago, Rainbow Beach Park was a slice of serenity we needed just before the stay-at-home advisory too effect. The quiet waves hitting the sand definitely quieted the voices in my head.

A great beach. Very clean and wasn't busy at all. Plenty of lifeguards, too. Only downside was people blasting music from their cars towards the beach, but we didn't let that ruin our fun. I would highly recommend this beach if you're in the area. There is a parking lot but I'm not sure if it's paid or not.
