One of my favorite Chicago restaurants that always makes a repeat visit on my list. The service is outstanding and the ambiance to die for. Outside is a magical oasis and inside is charming and elegant. So many delicious entrees to enjoy I could pick just one. Save room for dessert. The frites are a must. We tasted each others meals and all agreed the lamb shank was the winner over duck and steak.

I heard all good reviews from my friends, so we decided to pick this French bistro restaurant to celebrate my friend birthday. We get there like 15 minutes earlier, asked if we can sit down at least outside, answer was no, which I totally understand. So at 5pm get in and our waiter Allison was nice and friendly... we ordered calamari and .... for appetizer , both was ok, not a wow. Then we ordered crispy duck, wasn't our taste. Duck meat was still pink inside, not crispy... Profiterol for dessert, well for those ,who wasn't in Europe will be ok... Just a little bit disappointed, but overall was ok. Very nice atmosphere, nice people, but for us was just OK food. We didn't left the place very happy, but once again maybe BECAUSE was the bad starting. Who knows??? I would still recomand for the ambience, good atmosphere and drinks...

We really enjoyed our dinner here on St Val 2023. The stand out dishes for us are the mussels & the duck. We had spent 2 weeks in Belgium this past summer, and ate mussels everywhere. We both agreed that the flavor here at Chez Joel was better than any of the many we tried in The Land of Mussels...even Brussels! The duck was perfectlycooked and so flavorful. And the creme brulé is a must here as well. Our only regret is that we are lifelong Chicagoans and we should have been here years ago.

Free street parking if you can find it. We found some free spots close to our reservation time. Service was exceptional. Every dish was superb, can’t find any faults. Price is standard for this type of cuisine. -grilled calamari with pesto, arugula, and roasted peppers -Frog legs with garlic spinach, capers, and brown butter sauce - not on current menu unless you ask -Rack of lamb, mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, au jus - any lamb is good on their menu -magret et confit de canard, sauce a l’orange -gateau aux amondes -profiterole

Great local spot with amazing French food. I'd highly recommend any special they offer, especially the soups. The mussels are also ridiculously delicious when they're in season. Also, don't skip dessert!

Was my first time there with my wife. I seriously don't have enough words to complement this restaurant. The whole experience was excellent. Our server Nancy was fantastic, friendly, helpful. Food was great, I have to say the onion soup, I could drink a gallon of it! Sooo good! Seriously. Even on the end of the night, our valet parking guy Juan Carlos was so attentive and nice. You guys are doing a fantastic job. I have to mention the ambience of the whole place inside and outside is breathtaking. Definitely a place to come back over and over....

Love this quaint little French restaurant! We enjoyed the green salad, coq au vin and seafood stew. Everything was delicious. The portion sizes are large and the prices are very reasonable.

It's my very 1st time eating I'm this restaurant & I loved it! The place is beautiful, the patio is beautiful, the service is the best the food really good & the quality is best! The bathroom is clean. The only thing I didn't like is just that the bathroom is for 1 person at a time. But is spacious & clean. It is an the high end price. I highly recommen this place & I will definitely come back!!!

I would give it more stars if I could, it was outstanding in everything from the time we arrived until we left. We had a great view from our table and the service from everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The food was outstanding and so delicious. We started with some drinks and ordered some starters which arrived in time for us to enjoy them before our main course. Everyone in our party agreed the entrees were amazing! We finished with coffee and dessert, a perfect complement to our dinner. We will definitely return..soon!

Yesterday four of us celebrated my son’s Birthday by dining at your restaurant. We all enjoyed the fine food you made for us. Our server helped make the wine selection and made a wonderful choice. This is a restaurant that we will visit again. My Lamb shank was delightful. As well as the other two selections.

Spiro was our waiter and he was PHENOMENAL....seriously best waiter I've had in my 37 years living. Great food, he had great advice pairing, so knowledgeable not to mention considerate of our order given high demand on specials, it's like he was put host. Incredible. Food was delicious, perfect servings, extensive options to choose from. We had a large group of 8, was supposed to be 10 but they were able to accommodate 10. Little disappointed but we understood. I do think background music would have been nice. Easy street parking but valet was a great plan B too. Will def comeback if Spiro is there.

A unique, intimate spot to enjoy well crafted French food. While for some the menu may seem a bit intimidating or hard to navigate, after being there I would encourage you if you’re going to truly explore French cuisine this would be a place to try it in Chicago! We had salads and pommes frites to start with their warm table bread and then Flounder, Filet Mignon, and Mixed Seafood platter. Finished with desserts. All were outstanding and I cleaned my plate! Atmosphere for me was a bit dated and average thus the lower rating, food outshined that for sure!

Loveddddd this little intimate French bistro! Definitely a new favorite. The bread with their special oil is great. French onion soup is bomb! We had the grilled calamari, good flavor but I know now I just prefer fried calamari. The steak with the peppercorn sauce is oh so yummy. I had the half chicken with mashed potatoes; the sauce was very tasty. Went for my birthday and they brought out the creamiest vanilla ice cream. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Hidden gem in on Taylor street. Their food is truly one of the best in the city. Every dish we had was better than the previous. Cannot wait to visit their patio in the summer :)

We made a reservation for the outdoor patio on Thursday evening, and we loved it. Hidden gem! Well worth the 10 minute drive from downtown. I started with the clam special, the filet was perfectly cooked (the sauce was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate), and blueberry tart special for dessert. My husband had escargot, steak au poivre, crème brûlée. We both loved our food — you could tell there was a lot of thought and attention put into each plate. Prices were also reasonable. Would definitely go back next time we’re in town.

Beautifully decorated and quaint restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. The drinks were phenomenal but the food was better. This restaurant captured the essence of French cuisine. I definitely recommend to come here !
