Full disclosure: I am not a Christian and tend to be wary of religious organizations and churches. Fourth Presbyterian gives every indication of being a compassionate, humane, life-affirming church who are trying to follow the path of Jesus. An absolutely beautiful and spacious church building, demonstrating a tasteful and unique blend of classical and contemporary architecture, as well as a wonderful art gallery which is currently showing art by Indigenous Columbians of the rainforest. They also have a range of social services for homeless and poor adults and youth. The front desk staff and other workers are friendly and helpful. I can't wait to visit again.

This is such a gorgeous place. Historic and beautiful, it has architectural details that will thrill the eye. The organ and its pipes fill the sanctuary with an amazing sound in the right hands. We got to sing there as members of the Apollo Chorus of Chicago in our spring concert this year. We had not one, but two exceptional organists to play, and when singing with an organ, it fills the soul. I hope you get to see it soon!

Absolutely gorgeous exterior, with green vines climbing the stone facade and hogwarts like courtyard to walk around. It’s on magnificent mile and a must see

Stunning architecture, peaceful retreat from the noisy, busy streets of Chicago. Beautiful place to meet Jesus. Even if it's after hours, explore a little. If people are there, they might let you come in. Be respectful and it might be one of the unexpected treasures you encounter while in Chicago. It was for us.

It’s beautiful! I haven’t visited for like 3.5 years, but I still remember reading the inscription on the fountain and wondering where I could find the verse, and I found it a few days later: Habakkuk 2:14 (KJV) “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

Fourth Presbyterian Church is a historic church located in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded in 1871 and has since become one of the largest Presbyterian churches in the United States. The church is known for its stunning Gothic Revival architecture, with a towering steeple that reaches a height of 297 feet. Beautiful and historical building. It’s amazing how you step into the courtyard and feel peace. Even though you are so close to the busy road. Wish we could’ve gone inside but we were a little too late. Great place to just stop by and see while in the area.

I've never been here myself and I'm not a religious person either but this building, it's wonderful organist John Sherer and the beautiful organ that is built into it have been featured in one of my favorite YouTube videos to date. If I were to ever come to Chicago, this definitely would be one of the first places I would visit.

Such a beautiful and intentional worship space. It's very welcoming and inviting and nestled in the heart of the busy Michigan Avenue shopping community. Even on a Thursday night I was able to find the Holy as I listened to the choir rehearsing. I look forward to coming back for a full service.

Grand old church in the middle of Chicago. Visited whilst on a road trip across the USA by 2 Aussies in 2019

My first experience with this church was a judgemental encounter with a woman at the social service doors, who apparently took exception to me taking a photo of the posted service hours. However I persisted, and my next visit went better: acquiring much-needed winter clothing, food, and a lunch with sit-down service. The staff were polite and patient.
