Often overlooked, this sculpture sits in the middle of a couple of other famous public artworks from Picasso, Calder and Chagall. Grab your lunch and sit in Brunswick Square and you can admire this and the Picasso simultaneously.

I love Miro. I didn’t expect to see his artwork on the street of Chicago.

Quintessentially Chicago and quintessentially Miro. A great place to ponder the life and history of a wonderful city.

The Miro's Chicago, USA, 69 W Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602 is a wonderful sculpture that you should take time to see while walking or touring through the Loop looking at other public artwork.

Miro's Chicago (formerly known as The Sun, The Moon and One Star) that located along West Washington Street just across from the large scale work by Picasso. This abstract figure (1981) is made of steel, wire mesh, bronze, concrete and ceramic tiles. It is resembles a female creature composed of various parts and brought to life.

I initially spotted Miro's Chicago sculpture while cycling towards DuSable Harbor one early morning. I thought that it looked very beautiful with the lighting flashing on it, which prompted me to get a closer look at it. I was intrigued by the colors on it as well as the fork on top of it which brought curiosity to look more into the meaning of it on a later date. Miro's Chicago, originally called the Sun, the moon and One Star was unveiled on April 20, 1981 by Chicago's first female mayor, Jane Byrne. Its shape and pose is reminiscent of the famous Minoan snake goddess figurine from Crete. As for its location it sits right across from Daley Plaza across from the Picasso, which is not hard to find. Also, near Miro's Chicago sits a memoriam in dedication to 6 individuals who lost their lives due to a fire started in a supply room on the 12th floor of the Cook County Administrative Building. Interesting piece near the Chicago Temple. Brass plates in the base give a little history and background. I like the less-angular seating area tucked behind this. Gives a little breath of solitude in this busy urban area.

Miro's statue is a sculpture made by Joan Miro. It is a bronze model of and is in the Milwaukee Art Museum Collection and is right next to the Chicago Temple. There is an S shaped bench behind dedicated to all those whose lives were changed due to the tragic fire of October 17, 2003 here too. The Chicago temple is very beautiful and one of the masterpiece building architectures too. There are pictures marking some of the historic events in Chicago right next to Miro's Statue on the temple wall - make sure you watch out for this as it is easy to miss

This is one of Chicago’s hidden gems. It’s tucked away in it’s own little corner and I’m afraid many people miss it. The Piccaso came first so one can be certain that Joan Miro’s work was addressing her “big sister” accross the street. Don’t miss this important work by one of the major twentieth century artists. NOTE: It’s very cool at night.

Kind of hidden in front of Picasso's, but not to be missed! Catalan artist Joan Miró was one of the greatest of the 20th century, truly a gem!

The sculpture is great but it seems like it's stuck in a random spot. I would've liked to have seen it placed in an area with more open space around it, so it could be appreciated by more people.

I like public art displayed in the streets and squares. This construction has small open space surrounding. Definitely worth visit if one is looking for public artwork in downtown Chicago or is just walking by.

The statue was unfortunately kept behind construction barriers and was not even visible from the street. You have to get out of the way and look over the fence to see it for now.

Chicago's Loop is filled with public art. The "Chagall Wall" is just around the corner at Chase Plaza.
