Love the atmosphere! Wait staff is quick and friendly. Always a good show with great lineups. Just a tip: If you have tickets at will call, just get in the line and they will have a list to check you in.

Cool spot but I didn't love the 2 item purchase minimum. Maybe this is normal in Chicago and I wasn't aware. The service was fast and the comedy was pretty decent. The bit about being married and not getting laid was used by 3 out of 4 of the comedians.

Small comedy club with C level comedians, you end up spending $130+ to chuckle a few times. I've been to Zanies quite a few times, but the last three I haven't had a great experience. I know they can't control the comedians content but tickets are $36 (w/ fees) a piece, and with the two drink minimum you are spending roughly $70 a piece to chuckle a few times. Do not order a cocktail, they were terrible, just get a mixed drink or a beer and you won't regret it. I'd also recommend really researching the talent before you go, the last few times we picked a random night and barely laughed.

Such an historic place. Seating is first come, first serve so get here early if you want good seats

Absolutely love and will miss Zanies. Their comedians are great and the vibe is awesome. It can definitely get crowded but that’s a great thing for the comedian. Definitely come and if you want good seats try and get here at least 20 mins before show starts.

Comedy club that actually seems to be a cosy spot to hang out in. $30 per tix + minimum spend on 2 F&B items. Went during their Ladies of Laughter event tonight - decent crowd. Delivery of jokes was inconsistent but there were some good ones.

Great intimate comedy spot. Tickets are affordable but note that there is a two drink minimum for the shows. If someone you know is coming to Zanies, don’t wait to get a ticket!

Nice comedy club, can usually get deals on tickets online. However, not a fan of the 2 item minimum per person.

Jimmy Dore was the headliner and it was a great show. Max Blumenthal showed up and was surprisingly good. He blended journalism and comedy together which tbh is probably the concept for future comedians. Almost creating a new genre. The drinks were great and the staff was attentive. Overall great experience.

Easily my favorite comedy club in the city. I dont have as much time to watch stand up now a days but I try to make it to the late night show whenever I can. The staff are all wonderful, the venue is the perfect size and the atmosphere is amazing, if you've never been and you're a fan of comedy, you're missing out.

The show we saw was fantastic, hilarious and a wonderful night out! The seating process was a little strange, for example, we were planning to order food but then were seated in an area without a table or surface, so that didn’t happen. The servers are constantly running about (we did go to a sold out show) so getting our first of our 2 drink minimum orders in took longer than anticipated, too. That said, our server was sweet and as attentive as she was able to be.

Nice place with good atmosphere. Will go again. I think that there should be a warning mentioning about the 2 drinks minimum per person when buying the ticket. Also recommend people getting there early. We ended up on a seat where I had to constantly move my legs for everyone to pass by and there were always people walking across.

Had a great time here last night! Really cool comedy club to see a show with fantastic wait staff and host. Jeff Leeson killed it and I hope he returns to Zanies often!!! Couldn’t have asked for a better Wednesday!

I went for the first time last night. It was great! Everyone was friendly and the drinks were good. I had 3 Whiskey Richards but I used the nickname for Richard when ordering. 😉 The comedians were funny! I'll definitely return. We even got some free tickets (conditions apply 😂).

Spur of the moment choice for a quick weekend in the Windy City. The only thing our crew regrets is not getting there earlier! Staff and comedians were fantastic!

The comedy club is back with a cozy, slightly claustrophobic romantic atmosphere. these are some pretty good value shows especially compared to second City. I would buy a ticket in advance as the place can get really booked! the two drink minimum purchase is pretty bogus though.

Beautiful intimate venue. I went to see Tina Friml and I loved it. There's a minimum of 2 menu items purchase per person; the drinks are small but strong so they're very much worth it. There's parking just beside the place($14 through SpotHero). I recommend arriving around 6:30pm to get a good seat. I would definitely visit again.

Saw Steph Tolev. She was great, opener was great. Cool and historic place for comedy. 2 drink or food item minimum, which is standard. Decent drink menu, but pricey as to be expected. You could smell the history, I think that's what it was. Great vibe, great time. Recommend.

Caught Natasha Pearl Hansen's show on 1/16/24, and she had us in stitches – absolutely hilarious! Exceptional service, it was Dry January and they were out of non-alcoholic beer, but water was a refreshing choice. 👏 The first two acts were not very good, but the MC (who was funnier than the first 2 acts) did an exceptional job of getting the energy in the room ready for Natasha.

Came here solo for the Troy Bond show. I appreciate the staff putting me at the aisle seat. I use bathroom frequently and since I was by myself made it less awkward when groups came in. It is a cozy venue and the seating is snug. Come early for better seats. There were two girls that came later and kept hassling the staff and waitress Brit for "better" seats. They came later in the night expecting seats and trying to sit in their "regular" seats in a SOLD OUT show. The staff and Brit were so nice and polite. Idk how they could say the same thing multiple times and keep their composure. It became distracting since anytime they would see a staff member they would ask them the same question. Its not until the first act was done that the staff thought of them and told them they can find another seat since there was no shows for the main act. They finally moved and was able to enjoy the show. I recommend the personal pizza and the $15 moscow mule they had. The tables are tiny so it makes it weird if you are eating and others so close next to you are not part of your group lol. It was pricy but was good. Drinks are pricey here so come prepared.

First time here. Loved the old school vibes. Never change ✌🏼 can’t wait to come back soon & bring friends. Side note- the pretzel is good but nachos are not

Such a cool place! We saw Kam Patterson and it was such a treat! The servers were so sweet and very attentive. The seats are so quaint and there isn’t a bad seat in the entire place. Very excited to see more shows in the future!

An intimate, institutional comedy club! The atmosphere is always great, the line ups are solid, and the service is beyond. For one show, I bought a ticket for a 7pm show, only for my job to throw overtime on me. Instead of the hassle of canceling, waiting for a refund, and buying the later show, they just swapped my showtime, easy peezy. The best.

This is a great comedy club located in "Old Town". I've been here twice and it's an awesome experience. The first time I saw Joe List and the second time I saw Ian Bagg, both were amazing. Yeah it's smaller than a lot of venues, but smaller clubs are better for comedy than a theater and $30 is a fair price considering how expensive everything is in Chicago. I'll be back next time I'm in Chicago!

This place is divey in the best way possible. I love the convenient Old Town location. Service is friendly. What I didn’t like was the 2-item per person minimum for orders. My companion and I misunderstood it as 2 items per table, not 2 per person. We ordered a second round but the drinks were strong and it was honestly a struggle to finish them. I can’t shade anyone for strong drinks but perhaps a per-table minimum minimum dollar amount rather than a per-person item minimum would better address this? It’s still a great spot and I’ll come back, I would just be aware and order beers or start with a soda.

Such a fun comedy club! Has an intimate feel and obviously has a lot of history. Get there early if you care about where you sit and there is a two drink minimum to be aware of. The comedians are great though and it's a great way to spend a night!

We had a good time, food was just ok ordered a Gin and tonic was mostly tonic so would not recommend mixed drinks

Great venue, great comedians, thoroughly enjoyed the night out

Don’t say the tickets are $30 if the tickets are actually $36. Adding a $6 “ticket fee” that there is no way to avoid means the tickets are not $30. Other venues avoid this by letting you skip the fee as long as you pay at the door or buy directly through the venue. Zanies doesn’t even offer this option. How come businesses think scamming/ bait and switching their customers is acceptable?

While some in our party felt the show was not edgy enough, I and the room really enjoyed it. While the place was small, it didn't seem crowded. The patrons were friendly. The drinks, the DRINKS! Were sweet. but you could ask for regular stuff too. All good!

Only downside I experienced was a long wait for food (nearly an hour for a pretzel and nachos) and we were unable to split bills individually. Environment and comedy was great. Went back already and will go back again just not for food lol

The comedy was ok. They tell you door time is 8 for a 9 show. But the doors don’t open until 8:50. On a cold night that kind of ruins an experience. Suggestion to management, better communicate when you’d like us to show up. During the show we were seated in center of the room. Right under an air conditioner that blew cold air on us for a good 30 minutes. Not a comfortable experience.

What can I say, reviewing one of the most historic comedy clubs in the country? So much history you can feel it. And interestingly enough, see it. On the walls. Love a tight, little, low ceiling club. Very intimate. Very funny. And the people-watching out front is *chef's kiss*
