First time here. My belly and wallet have no regrets. All the apps and side dishes had lovely textures, flavor and a perfect amount of acid. The only dish I didn't care for was the tartare, which was very salty. Bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare was a little blue but I didn't mind that at all, and bearnaise was 👌 Great service, great wine list, great cocktails.

Sat at the bar on a Friday night and started things off with a wonderful Martini. From there we got a half dozen oysters that were shucked perfectly, Escargot that was full of garlic and an amazing 30oz Porterhouse for two. One of the better steaks I have had in Chicago in awhile.

It just re-opened last week and I couldn’t wait to check out another neighbourhood spot. It was definitely bustling when I arrived. I quickly ordered the Tartare of Boeuf, Short Rib Beignets, and the Cheesesteak Sandwich. The apps would be perfect to split with someone. The star of the meal was the Cheesteak. Perfect from start to finish. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the tartare and wish I had more room for the beignets. It’s absolutely worth checking out - for lunch or dinner. Lunch is Fri-Sat. Dinners Weds-Sat

Quaint, honest, elevated. Top-notch execution with next-level ingredients served with little pretentious. The steak tartar was solid. The escargot is a must. And you won't be disappointed with any of the steak options. Only thing I'd like to see is a deeper scotch/whiskey selection, but I get it, it's French/German.

Best ribeye I’ve had in a long long time. The price reflects that fact but well worth it! Foie gras starter special was also on point. Service was a team effort and we never wanted for anything. Wish they had at least one Napa or Sonoma cab on the list but the wine selections were varied enough to find what you want.

i could propose to this burger it was so amazing 1000/10 the onions IN the melted cheese was a perfect touch buttery toasted bun, burger cooked to PERFECTION it knocked my kiss-printed socks off from under the bar seating. The Aioli you see- is not what meets the eye- it is eons better than you would ever predict, and trust me (a loyal aioli connoisseur) this basically made my tastebuds tingle in every exciting bite, pair it with the fries that are crisped to perfection- every bite in this picture was like tasting heaven. ++ Bonus Points for the best Pickle sliver on the side The Fried Perch was also amazing

Not even lying when I say this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had - which is saying a lot in one of the greatest food cities on Earth. Will be back sooner than later and then over and over.

From the service to the food this place was amazing and Brad made the night even better! You could definitely taste flavor throughout every dish. The short rib beignets were amazing and the scallops were big portions and cooked just right. The steak had an amazing flavor, we got the porterhouse and the ribeye. The ribeye had a more umami flavor to it, but it’s amazing how different parts of the porterhouse had different flavors due to one part being a strip and the other a filet. Also the fries couldn’t have been better, especially the aioli to dip in. The sorbet at the end was super refreshing the passion fruit was my favorite! You pay for you what you get when you come here and they do offer menu items to accommodate anyone’s budget, definitely will be back, a top 3 steakhouse in my opinion no doubt!

Quite possibly the worst steak I've ever had even from much lower quality restaurants. Had the ribeye, currently $90. The cut of meat had zero marbling. However, it was very full of tendons. It was a low quality cut that was provided. The steak was prepared medium rare as requested. The steak had no flavoring at all. The steak had no redeeming qualities at all in fact. I wouldn't recommend a steak at this place to anyone. The chef absolutely does not know what he's doing with steaks. There were 3 in my party, all ordered steaks, and all 3 felt it was the worst we've ever had. The side dishes were fine, nothing special. There has to be better options out there in chicago but for myself, I would advise you skip this place if you're wanting steak.

Getting ready for a cousins trip to Chicago, I was determined to search out a place that had Beef on Weck. I haven’t had the chance to have one for sixteen years since moving to New Mexico, so I thought to give Boeufhaus a try, and it was far more than I had bargained for. I have been to a morally questionable amount of fine dining establishments, and I was still not prepared for what an amazing experience it was. The restaurant was cozily tucked into a neighborhood, but when you walked through the door, the ambiance wasn’t just pleasant, it was beautifully crafted. We ordered about a third of the menu between us, and every plate was stunning. Every single member of the staff were impeccable, flawless and warm. Even though our vacation is over, that meal is all we still talk about. My only sadness is it was the first place we ate while in Chicago. I don’t mean to dismiss the other places we dined, which were lovely, but everything was a little dimmer than the experience of our Boeufhaus evening. Next time we are going to start and finish our trip to Chicago, it will be there. Much love from New Mexico!

Went there for an early reservation (5:30) on a Saturday, and the place was already packed, with just a few bar seats available for walk-ins - this smallish restaurant is popular and hard to get a table. The French/German style cooking is well executed - while not my personal preferred style for steak, everything we had was well done - and very tasty. Service was great as well (handle a strange tasting bottle of wine we ordered with grace). Two minor complaints that kept me from giving it a five star: a little short staffed (hard to get our servers attention) and the quality of meat (not the preparation but the meat itself) was fine but not five-star quality (marbling/fat issues). Both of these are common for restaurants post pandemic - so, I look forward to returning and perhaps change my rating to five-star!

This past Friday evening, I had an amazing dinner at Boeufhaus that exceeded my expectations in every way. A dimly lit establishment with a nice bar and comfortable seating was what we were looking for and this place really suit my taste. I really like the interior design also, if it were closer to me, this would be a place I would frequent on a more frequent basis. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was presented in a flattering way! The escargots and the beignet short ribs were both excellent choices, and we had a great time eating that dish. The dessert was also very good, as was the drink. My opinion is that this location requires significantly more attention. We had a fantastic time last night here! Anyone who can should go here if you want to experience and taste their delicious foods! And I? I will definitely be back here as soon as possible.

Been dining at Boeufhaus since opening month and still does not disappoint. Must do’s: escargot, pastrami-cured salmon, The Tartare of Boeuf. The finale, a flawlessly cooked duck breast. Get the espresso Martini. Pro tip: eat a steak!

What an awesome experience. The drinks were exquisite with quirky cute names and the steak was fabulous. The polenta and other sides were great as well. Wine was top notch and the server ( Christina ) was beyond !!!!!! Will go again

I went here with my husband a few months back. We both got different aged steaks (I can’t remember which ones). It was my first time have dry aged steak. A very unique but good taste. It was a very pleasant experience.

Beoufhaus is one of Chicago's finest restaurants. The service is professional and not intrusive. The food was perfectly cooked and presented in a clever fashion. Brunch and drinks were reasonably priced for the quality & quantity. On previous occasions, I've been here for dinner, and everything was absolutely perfect. Do not miss this hidden gem!

There are really too many good things to say about this place. Amazing food and drink. Great service. Currently they do lunch Friday and Saturday (11am-3pm) Thats when the sandwiches are served. I’d say make a reservation the place has limited seating and can fill up quickly. (Pictured is the little neck clams that were an off menu special.)

I was hoping this would be a 5 star experience. Had the shrimp cocktail and short rib beignets to start- both were delicious. Then we had the rib-eye and fries, as the sides were quite limited. The place itself is well designed and while small, can fit quite a few people. Our waiter was alright, but would’ve expected better for such a restaurant.

Wow, what an incredible date night restaurant! Between the cozy, neighborhood feel, the unbelievably wonderful food, and the excellent service, I would absolutely recommend this spot. We ordered the Short Rib Beignets which we were told are super popular and have been on the menu since the restaurant opened. These were phenomenal, and if you’ve never been, you should be sure to order these! We also had the cavatelli, the dry aged Porterhouse steak, and the fries for dinner. We finished the meal off with the sundae. The steak was one of the best that I have ever had in my life. The quality of the meat combined with the flavor was to die for (I say this as a steak lover!). We sat at the bar, and had excellent service the entire night. This was an expensive meal, but the quality of the food and service match what we paid. Perfect for a special night out!

Dry age was a new experience, but I'm not super convinced with the flavor payoff. It wasn't the best steak I ever had, but Boeufhaus hit all the marks for: a) an intimate experience, b) a place worth going to celebrate something, c) relaxed/noisy atmosphere.

Service was great but the Dry aged meat was kind of a disappointment for the price. It didn’t taste that strong for a 55-day dry aged Ribeye. It was served with a sauce on top, as if to compensate for the mild tasting meat. Sides were okay. The place came highly recommended but I left with a bitter aftertaste. Wouldn’t recommend it myself as the value for money isn’t there in my honest opinion.

This was for our anniversary celebration. The waiter was attentive, the food was brought out hot and perfectly timed, and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the escargot and the charcuterie it was our favorite. The drinks were delicious too. The venue feels intimate.

High-end, downtown quality food in a neighborhood setting. This place is great for a nice, sit-down dinner, or casual meal at the bar. The porterhouse is one of the best steaks I've every had!

  • 5/5 Keith K. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely phenomenal. Cocktails amazing, fantastic wine list. Every dish I ate tasted like the best thing I ever had: charcuterie with chicken liver mousse (I usually hate but oh my word), oysters, short-rib beignets, NY Strip with Au Poivre, Pork Chop, Pork Shank 🤯, steak frites). Sides also incredible. Service top notch Michelin level but so relaxed and fun. Just go here already.
