Amazing chicken and sides, but I don’t know how they expect customers paying 25$ a person on the low end and have them sit out in the patio when the temperature is 37* out. Just wait till they open back up the indoor dining room. Not worth dining here in the fall, winter or spring. Customer service by the host was outstanding, try and keep warm!!

Honey Butter Fried!! Such a good place for quick fried chicken. The pimento mac and cheese is so damn good - a MUST. The fried chicken is just so juicy and flavorful and when paired with the honey butter and biscuit it’s insane. Love this place!

The food was great! One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in Chicago. The customer service was very welcoming. The staff was very nice. My friend ordered mashed potatoes and they served it without the gravy by mistake. We let them know and they immediately apologized, fixed it with another one and even gave us a free cookie. Orders are placed at 2 kiosks that they have set up. There is no inside dining so being in Chicago dining here will be for the warmer months. I guess you could get to-go but I like my food fresh out the grease. They do have patio seating set up for those that want to brave the weather. It's not cold or wind proof like the restaurants that prepped for outside dining during the height of Covid with the heaters and plastic surroundings. There were heaters but they were no match for the wind or cold. My friends and I felt every bit of the 40 degree weather as we sat outside and tried to make the best of it. Will I go back? DEFINITELY....when it warms up. Pricing is a little steep.

Delicious! Highly recommend the cornbread; not only do they taste like honey butter, they’re shaped like hexagons and bees. The sandwiches and chicken and waffles are also super tasty. Staff is also very friendly. Well worth a visit!

All around great experience! The ordering process was easy and the staff was very friendly. All of the food was amazing and flavorful. Unlike most hot or friend chicken spots, the sandwiches weren’t so saucy that the bread becomes soggy. These were easy to pick up and eat with tender chicken and great seasoning. New favorite chicken spot on the north side!

Lovely outdoor patio, heated patio and indoor dining space. Order is placed on kiosks and it’s pretty self-service from there. Staff is friendly and takes great care of special requests. Chicken sandwiches are delicious to the last bite. One thing I liked is that they have multiple sandwich options to choose from based on fillings and not just heat level like other chicken spots. I just wish they had fries.

I catered some Honey Butter Fried Chicken for a small family gathering for about 10 people. Ordered online a few days before and it was an easy transaction. We don't live in the area anymore so we missed their chicken, biscuits, and their sauces. Glad we were able to get some. If you cater from them, they even give you place cards and serving utensils which were nice! Definitely worth checking them out and getting their chicken. Worth your $$. A little more expensive than the usual chicken place but the chickens are juice and the honey butter with the biscuit is so good. Or honey butter on the chicken is delicious as well 🤤.

First time here and not the last. The place looks small from the outside because it is on the corner, but it is not, and it has a large patio. First, free parking around the restaurant so I like that. Once inside, they have large screens to order your food, no cash transactions, so debit or credit only. I ordered the original and the Buffalo sandwich, and I liked the original the most. The Buffalo sandwich hot sauce could be better, to my liking. As for the French fries, the plain are also the ones I liked since I also ordered the honey, and they were ok for me. Once the order is in, take a seat, and your name will be called with your drinks and food, and since the day was great, the patio was the best option to seat and enjoy the food and weather. Overall, I liked the ambiance and the food, and I'll come back to try other dishes on the menu.

While visiting family in Chicago, they took us to Honey Butter Fried Chicken. We ordered a few vegetarian options - mac n cheese, slaw, corn bread and a dessert. Everything was super tasty. The outside space is excellent with patio heaters. The chicken looked good. I would definitely go back.

Service was helpful and welcoming and explained the ordering options and process. The restaurant itself was small yet clean and managed to sit a lot of people inside. Food was good, but a bit over priced for the amount you get and some options were limited. No options for french fries and I believe we were over charged for our Lemonade which was unfortunate because it is Really good Lemonade. Would suggest others giving it a try, if even just for the sake of trying it out.

I've eaten here a few times and my experience is always up and down. Sometimes the chicken is the best in the world and sometimes it's very dry and tough. This is the first time I have been truly disgusted with their food. Idk what happened but I bit into one of the cornbread, and it was so sour and disgusting it made my mouth go numb. This white powdery ball was in the corn bread, I have no idea what it was, but it scared me to death because my mouth became numb! I have attached the photo of what I found. I had the two piece chicken meal, the chicken was dry and tough and the other corn bread was fine. The Mac n'cheese and kale salad are always good. But unfortunately I will never eat here again after that scare.

Great food and super pro hospitality. sweet patio. there is zero wait service tho so, order & pickup at window & bus your table. My favorite thing is a free community food exchange they have set up (see photo).

Such a cute place....they have a self-service kiosk to place your orders. You sit and wait for your order to be called. They have our door and indoor seating options. The atmosphere was very nice and clean. The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. The mashed potatoes stole the show for me. I could have just had that and I would have been a happy camper 😁Definitely coming back.

Pretty disappointed by our first visit to Honey Butter. The honey butter sandwich strikes me more as a $6 sandwich and not a $12+ one. We ordered strips too with their HB sauce and we got just the chicken, no sauce. Chick Fil A is down the street and gives a better experience and more consistency.

Very friendly service, a cool outdoor patio space, and good food. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and the melted pimento cheese fries. The buffalo chicken had some kick but wasn't overly spicy (there was sauce to add for those who wanted to kick up the heat). Also had the 50/50 lemonade sweet tea, which was very good. Would recommend.

It was tasty however the ratio to chicken, sauce and toppings and bun was a little low on the chicken (meat) side. Each were very tasty however too many bites were lacking in chicken and mainly composed of sauce pickles and bun. The sandwich I got was the “Hot as Hell” and it definitely had a good kick. If you are looking for the hottest fried chicken sandwich I would recommend Fry the Coop. I also got the cheese fries and a side of ranch along with a 50/50 drink. They were all good. I really like the shape the fries are cut as they are great for scooping cheese and ranch. I would say one final note was that this meal came out on the pricey side… I am always happy to support a small business that is committed to quality and I would love to come here more often but $28 for a sandwich with cheese fries and a drink will be reserved for when I’m in the mood for a splurge. ❤️

got a mini meal with chicken, kale salad, and a corn muffin with honey butter. tried some of the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese of the table. Total 5 star. If it wasn’t for the amazing sides, fresh and approachable vibe, organized ordering, superb location, and fresh ingredients then I would give 4 stars bc the chicken was juicy and tasty but not seasoned much. The sauces and everything on the side made it a better rating. Great price esp since they have progressive labor policies. Def recommend and make sure to get some sauces. Also the chicken sandwiches were delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

The taste matches the name 💯! We had a delightful meal at this place where all is right and all is nice! Had the honey butter friend chicken sandwich. I upgraded to the biscuit bun! A mouthful of flavor! Well seasoned and juicy chicken. The cheddar cheese sealed the deal. A side of pimento cheese macaroni is a MUST! The sauce is spot on! This place is not on “the main path” but well worth the detour! Proceedings from some purchases go back to the community and outside their nice patio is a place where free food, mostly canned goods are offered to the community! Great establishment, I end how I started, this place does it all right! 🤙🏻❤️. Their logo is awesome! And attention to details in their presentation, trays, packing etc. speaks to their quality end-to-end.

HBFC is a very homey atmosphere restaurant with fast service. Buffalo mac n cheese was so spicy creamy, best mac I’ve ever had and the greens enhanced the flavor even more. Fried chicken was quite creamy but a little too fatty for me. Bun was perfect texture and taste. Chicken crisp was ok.

This is one of the most unique restaurants in Chicago! It’s pricey but so worth it! The chicken strips with honey butter are out of this world! They also have some fun off-brand sodas in their soda fountain. The patio is huge and covered. The staff here are always awesome and it’s clear the owners care a lot about their guests and staff; great to see!

I honestly have been waiting for a long time to taste this chicken. I pass by it and never had the time. Today I decided to treat myself lunch and purchased the 4 piece meal with a side of macaroni and cheese. I paid a little over $30 which hurt me greatly because it was fried chicken. I got my order quickly, I should say. The first thing I opened was the mac and cheese. WELL I don't know what type of cheese they use but it tasted like the box type. I know this could have been better. I than decided to taste the star of the meal... I PAID $30 FOR A REGULAR FRIED CHICKEN. There was nothing exceptional about this chicken. It is what it is breaded friend chicken with a cup of honey butter. Both of which can be made at home . Save yourself the extra $15.00 and make this at home.

Honey Butter Fried Chicken was the place I always wanted to try for years. So, I finally got the chance to go there on a sunny day and the food I ordered was fantastic. The customer service was exemplary and definitely met good standards and friendly service! The Chicken with the butter & corn breads couldn't be any better. Best combination! The prices are decent. Definitely the best chicken restaurant to exist!

It has been years since I was here. We sat inside. Good portions on food. The honey butter chicken sandwich was good. Honey butter Fries were good too but I think next time I will not order not as much honey butter items. The flavors all blurred by mid meal.

Worthy of any and all hype! Wonderful chicken sandwiches (strips, too) dripping namesake honey butter and delicious sides...pimento mac & cheese and schmaltz mashed potatoes were standouts.

All good, I had an amazing fried chicken with corn bread + Tecate (Mexican beer). Only thing is they are currently only serving on patio and definitely not a good idea during the winter..?

You already know that HBFC is the best! Super easy to order online (through their website) and pick up from their back patio. You pick up from the window after letting them know your name. Nice outdoor seating that is covered. Water and cups provided. Try their buffalo chicken mac!!! The best!

This is such an amazing place. Fried chicken and grits with an egg. I went when they first opened to avoid line ups. Service was quick and food was fantastic. Upscale soul food at its finest in Chicago.

Very lovely luncheon on the patio to enjoy the perfect weather. Also, glad I can recycle my soda bottle. I am grateful they are getting through the pandemic difficulties as many other local restaurants have closed.

So - first off due to COVID they are doing outdoor only currently but it wasn't bad. They have a tent setup with fans so if you don't want to be in the sun you have options. They also pack the food as if it's a to-go even if you dine in. (But you can ask for plates) The chicken is really good. Not too thick on the breading but that butter....OH MY. Slather that onto everything while it's hot. It takes it to the next level. I also got an order of the Schmaltz Mashed Potatoes w/ Rosemary Gravy. Really good. (I also swirled in some butter there...not the same impact as it was on the chicken)

Some parts of the chicken was slightly dry but it was great with the honey butter. The Buffalo Mac and cheese was pretty good too!
