Went here for a quick sandwich on my lunch break. Waited for 25-30 minutes and all I got was this dry chicken sandwich and poor fruit cup for ~$11.50. I guess not the place to go to if you are on a schedule. Also witnessed the the hostess take an interesting approach to "greeting" guests. The other reviews about poor service seem to check out. I've been here before and the coffee bar is good, so are some food options. This was a bad experience overall. Seems to be a very hit or miss place.

This is a brightly decorated vegetarian restaurant with a huge selection of yummy brunch choices. We had a table of 4 adults and 3 kids and there was something for everyone. The vegan options were plentiful and portions huge. Multiple different omelets, pancakes, delicious veggie scrambles. The service was good and all the food was delicious. It’s casual and the price was reasonable. We will go back again. They don’t take reservations so for larger groups call and check your timing.

Went on a Friday night, was busy but not packed. When you walk in, you wait to be seated and greeted to a table with menus and water. There are so many good options! I really enjoyed the ambiance, felt as if I were in a cartoon. The staff works really well together. Keep up the good work!

Best vegan breakfast ever. I have been vegan for five years and I was missing insanely American style breakfast food. Hands down the best experience. The really good thing is this place is very inclusive. There's options for vegans vegetarians and omnivores.

THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SPOTS IN CHICAGO. It’s got wacky and zany decor, with collaged tabletops covered in vinyl. Thee i has a wide variety of options and everything I’ve had has been delicious and well-priced. I got the egg nog latte last time I went, which was the holiday special. I also got a build-your-own sandwich and a cup of lemon chicken soup. Oh my it was all so delicious. I’ve also had their breakfast and brunch options, which have me always wanting to return to try other options and certain they’ll be just as delicious. They have indoor seating that’s quite spaced and outdoor seating in the front sidewalk, complete with heaters. Highly recommend!

Update: Thumbing through the reviews and I don't see a reply from management at all! Server did not make me feel welcome! Secret: ask for whipped butter from the chef! Ugh NOT OPEN UNTIL 10am? Update Saturday July 22nd Joe saved the Day from my hippy chick waitress who is very slow. Sent omelette back it was overdone FYI bagels are always tough! Update today's Sunday, I didn't feel special so I only left a 10% tip. And today (Friday) the server is rude and short with our party. Relax lady! We drove all the way there so excited as it's our first day in Chicago and we had to pay for parking only to find out they're not open till 9:00. I think this warrants a free cup of coffee if we go tomorrow and then we can change the review rating. Update: Why so serious? I ordered the Clown Combo. "Server #9" gave us a lukewarm welcome and didn't offer her name! It's our second day and she had no interest! Unfriendly! Sugar Shaker and fresh cream is a plus as there is no little wasteful packets to open. Free parking on Sunday! The potatoes are delicious!. Water pitcher for one good all day! (See image) Tuesday Update: many walk-up guests puzzled by the late opening 10 a.m. The coffee is worth the wait! Omelette is a little misshapen but enough for two. Very fresh! Father's Day update 😄 very busy they did not have a food runner and my food came out lukewarm it was nice to have a secret admirer. French toast is enough for three!

Can I please get a refund? Our dinner last Sunday was out of character for PMU. The chocolate chip pancakes came half burnt with half burnt chocolate chips on top & zero chocolate chips in the batter- very upsetting after we had raved to the person who ordered them about how wonderful they are. There was a big ol hair in my nachos, and for some reason, part of our cheese fries had a taste of rot to them. Spoiled potatoes maybe? It was a huge waste of money for us, and most of the food went uneaten. Only one food item was normal.

This was my first time at pick me up café and I was pleasantly surprised. I was looking for a gluten-free option sandwich and this was a perfect grab and go for me. The staff was super hospitable and kind. The interior of the restaurant is very unique and outdoor seating options are great during the summer. I will be back soon.

Burrito was delicious. Needed a little more flavor in my opinion, so if you add the salsa as youre cutting it, it is great! Coffee was great. Would definitely come here again.

Wonderful experience all around for our late-afternoon meal. Bright and entertaining decor, with whimsical treats in surprising places. Excellent customer service. And delicious food, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. My husband loved the Cuppy Burrito, which comes with generous sides of black beans and rice. Filled with lots of grilled veggies; may add tofu for an extra protein boost. He also tried the Winter Cocoa with a shot of Bailey's ~ yummy! I loved the Falafel Wrap, which had generous portions of falafel, chopped tomatoes, and greens with perfect amount of tangy dressing. Great to have this lightly toasted (a little like a panini), so that the wrap held together. My side was the fries, which were hot and crisp. This is now a go-to for us when we're in Andersonville!

The food is absolutely divine. The vegan pancakes tasted no differently than the regular pancakes. There are so many variations of the pancakes and French toast as well, with the option to "vegan" the dish. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and the portions were suitable for 2 meals.

A bright fun cafe! Welcoming attentive staff. Amazing selection of food with lots of vegan and vegetarian options! Fantastic lattes. The decor is so colorful and quirky. This place has a lot of personality. I'd definitely come back for brunch or lunch!

My wife and I have loved Pick Me Up cafe since before they moved to their new location years ago. The food is always excellent, and they have loads of vegetarian and vegan options that make going there regularly a treat.

This is a funky little place with colorful decor. The food is really good with a lot of comfort foods. I usually go here with a non-vegan friend because they serve both vegan and non-vegan options. I always leave with a happy belly. I love the no meat sloppy Joes!!

PMU Cafe has such a cool and welcoming atmosphere. Our host and server were great and the drinks/food came to our table pretty quickly. I had the Paloma cocktail and for dinner we shared the Fries with bacon and feta special and the chorizo tostadas entree. The food had a lot of flavor and felt very authentic. I'd definitely be back!

I would suggest getting there early before brunch hours for table of two or definitely more. At the other end of Andersonville but still very popular. I’d honestly prefer them over most of the other breakfasts/brunch spots. Vegan and vegetarian options along with protein options also. Adult beverages available and bloody marry are greatly recommended. Staff are always friendly and hard working. Smaller dinning space but with plenty of social room. Their skillets and Benedict’s are probably my favorite. Solid sandwich options and all round great menu. Definitely one of our go to spots.

The place's unique design and colors is one of the attracting factors. We had to wait a while before anyone noticed to seat us, we stood in the middle of the restaurant but no one offered to help. After we were finally seated, we ordered the Florentine Benny and Short stack chocolate chip pancakes with a vanilla milkshake. Taste wise good. Took a latte afterwards and it was pleasant, comes with 2 shots of espresso so it was stong as I like it. Recommend the coffee.

Nothing is is fancy but everything is delicious. It is located between Sheridan Park and Andersonville which is a pretty area. If you are vegan, they have vegan options too.

So glad we stumbled upon this place right before road tripping back to Ohio. The interior vibe is super cool — dim with neon lights, funky decor and art on the tables, felt super chill. Huge menu that’s also vegan friendly which is a big plus. Prices very reasonable. We were blown away by the portion sizes and taste, way better than what we were expecting. Was enough to last us both two meals. The service was also so great! This is definitely on the top of our last when we come back, just an awesome place.

Strawberry milk shakes was really bland, tasted like just milk and whipped cream. We kindly asked for them to remake it, but one worker just gave us strawberry flavored syrup for us to pour in our own milkshakes. Even after that it was still gross.

I really love coming here. It’s one of the few places in the city that has coffee that I actually like. The food here is very good, the portions are usually enough for 2 meals for me, the prices are more than fair, and the place is very consistent. The quality of the pancakes isn’t very good though and the staff could do a better job during busy hours with seating smaller parties at smaller tables so that larger parties had more appropriately sized tables available, but maybe I’m just being a little nit-picky. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Love their brunch menu options. Went there with a bunch of friends and we all had a good time. Delicious food and drinks. Especially the veggie burger with pasta salad on the side was really yum! I recommend it!

The atmosphere is lovely and the waiters are great, I’ve loved this place for a while, their Vegan Tofu scramble has always been a favorite comfort food until on two separate occasions bits of chicken were served with my potatoes; which was very upsetting. This unfortunately made it difficult for me to trust, especially after not eating chicken for 13+ years prior. So if you are someone that is in fact vegan be aware of dishes that contain potatoes because I’ve experienced the accident of chicken being mixed in the Vegan Tofu Scramble.

Was up North for appointment so decided to try VEGAN options at PICK ME UP CAFE. I got there about 1:30pm & only waited 5 minutes to be seated (I was with myself). I decided on the VEGAN SANTA FE SCRAM (seitan chorizo, peppers, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, jalapeños, vegan cheddar). The "scram" was enjoyable, however to be a "scram" you typically think eggs or tofu, they do indeed have a tofu scram, but I really wanted to try the chorizo & cheeze on the Santa Fe. I will definitely stop by again & try the tofu scram & some pancakes. Ooooh, I was thrilled that they actually had VEGAN BUTTER for my toast.

Super cute atmosphere and great service! The breakfast is also super good I got the hot chocolate and the vegan breakfast that came w tofu potatoes and an english muffin and everything was easoned to perfection! Definitely the best vegan breakfast I have had and wish I lived in the area so I could come often!

Went to Pick Me Up Cafe the other night and got the Vegan Pizzadilla and Veggie Chili. I was surprised at how much vegan cheese they put on it. The vegan cheese doesn’t have much flavor but it blends very well with the sandwich. That veggie chili was very flavorful and has the right amount of spice. I never thought to put bay leaf in my chili but after trying this, I will definitely add it to my next batch.
