George Washington, and principal financiers Robert Morris and Haym Salomon- the two latter of whom without which the war would have gone bankrupt and failed. So, just my opinion, but it's not "nbd", but "vbd" - VERY big deal

It is the work of Lorado Taft and Leonard Crunelle and was inaugurated in 1941. Make sure to see the relief of the seated Lady Liberty on the back of the monument as well.

This is a nice place to stop by for photos with easy access to the Chicago Riverwalk. There are a lot of iconic structures all around this statue such as the Marina Towers.
