Let me start off by saying that this is not a hospital anymore that is for the people. Its a business that does not care for. the patients i took my mother to ER she was having symptoms of possible stroke according to her doctor. We had go to the ER and they said we will start with blood work. We went in at 6pm they took her blood test once and said there are 2 more that needs to be done to check if she needs CT or not. 3 hours passed by our number/call came. We asked the nurse how is it looking why is it taking so long they said all beds are occupied we are looking at her blood work then we will decide and non serious patients are not on top of the list. And told us we will take 3rd test after 2 hours. 4 hours went by no call. We had to go and ask the receptionist what is up it took us alot of convincing to make the receptionist understand so she then went to check on the results. And guess what? My mother was fine she didn’t need a 3rd test. THEY COULD HAVE TOLD US THAT 2-3 hour ago right? But no they didn’t. If we hadn’t gotten tired of waiting and ask the receptionist we would have been waiting all night. THEY HAVE MADE SWEDISH HOSPITAL A STAY INN. PEOPLE WERE THERE WAITING FOR 12+ hours . The receptionist nurses doctors in Swedish have ZERO EMPATHY. NO CARE FOR A SOUL. I FELT LIKE I WAS TALKING TO SOULLESS PEOPLE. THEY ONLY CARE TO PUNCH IN THEIR HOURS GET PAID AND GO home!

12 + hour wait for the emergency room. DO NOT GO HERE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! They ran numerous tests told, us nothing. Either admit us or send us home. Go to a different ER bc this one won't do anything for you. They gave only one doctor working the ER. We got here at 5 pm yesterday. It is now 5am and we are still waiting. I will never return here. Lots of crazy people talking to themselves as well. This place needs to do better bc they are helping nobody. The heavyset asian/latina lady working the front desk should not be working here. Super rude to everyone. If I could give zero stars I would.

Waited 9 hours to be seen, and then was told by the discharge nurse as I was leaving not to come back - that wait times are regularly 12-16 hours and he always encouraged people to go somewhere else. The staff was all wonderful and other than the wait time I felt taken care of, but they clearly have a capacity issue. Oh and the bathroom was crawling with ants, and all the furniture is ripped with broken armrests. Really a sad state of affairs.

Went in at 5:30pm on a Saturday for chest pains, shortness of breath, left arm pain, nausea, dizziness (the classic heart attack symptoms). Had an EKG done right away and sent back to the overcrowded waiting room. Guess I wasn't dying? Called back an hour later to do blood work. No one told me this blood would be drawn 3x every 2 hrs. There I Sat for hours with so many others in really bad shape. Staff coming out of the doors to call ppl would only call their name once or twice even tho it was crowded, loud and people spread all over looking for a place to rest. So many ppl missed being called. At 1:30 am I asked the front desk when would I be seen? She said there were 12 ppl ahead of me. I got there 8 hrs ago and still had 12 ppl ahead of me? Since my symptoms had subsided I got up and left. It sucks that urgent cares close so early and many aren't open on weekends. Leaving ppl no choice but to go to the ER.

Checked in at midnight; it’s now 9am and I have still not seen a doctor. This place’s motto is “if you want to leave or go somewhere else you can”. Doesn’t matter how severe your symptoms are, or how long you’ve been there. I got ONE CT scan and I still haven’t gotten the results. The results only take 30 minutes; however I’m still waiting just to hear what those were. It makes no sense. I also don’t understand how it can still take so long if people are eventually being admitted or just leaving all together!

OMG I agree this is the worst ER in the world. If I can give 0 stars I would. Try to ask a question and all the staff in registration plus nurse Peggy were very aggressive. Not only unfriendly, but rude not even answering questions. As soon as you ask them a question they start yielding. I young guy tried to record them because of how rude they were only because I asked them how long we need to wait for, after waiting for over 11 hours. They called security and made the young guy look like the bad guy for recording them because it is prohibited. According to them, they are trying protect other patients privacy but NO, they actually want to have the ability to mistreat patients without being recorded. All he young guy was doing is trying to protect me after seen how aggressive they turned just for asking what do I need to do to take my mom to a different ER. My mom does not speak English and the nurse was trying to force her to understand English. The nurse refused to talk to me because I am not the patient. But in reality she was disappointed because I wanted to switch to a different hospital. They did 3 blood test but no results. Are they just taking advantage of the insurance????? But no results!!!!! Weird!!!!

Horrrrible ED. My first and LAST time ever visiting here. It was the closest one, but would have been better off going elsewhere! Severely understaffed. Looks dingy. Arrived at 11:30pm. I was told there were only 2 doctors until 3am and 1 doctor after 3am. People were leaving because of how long the wait was and lack of promptness. If you have an ACTUAL EMERGENCY, do NOT go here! Trust the reviews!

If I will have the power to give them a -0 I will. I wen there with chest pain and they have me waiting for 12 hours. I got there at 7:40 PM I got out emergency room almost at 10 AM. The police officer and, the front desk girl they were on their phone playing video games. I actually have photos of that. So many people walked out and went to other hospitals because the waiting was incredibly insane. I went inside and there was open beds available. So I don’t know exactly what they were doing. During my time I never got to see a nurse. She just came last 2 mins in to discharge to apologize for me waiting 12 hours hypocritically. I have to say though, there was a guy in the front desk name Yosef he was great I feel bad for him because he was the only one showing empathy for all the people waiting. He was even offering water to people because of any machines were not working. I was there with my 80-year-old mother because I started feeling the pain on my chest around the area. I never thought that it was gonna take that long. Since I have a long history of heart problems my doctor wanted me to stay but I never thought in 1 million years it was going to take me over 10 hours. All of those people kept doing was drawing blood several times while waiting me and all others were in the waiting area. Milking the Insurance. Even the resident Dr Caucasian lady has a little bit of an attitude but she calm down when I told her that I was going to file a complaint to the Illinois Department of Public health. When I said that, they start giving treatment properly. The resident ordered a chest x-ray and when she came back she told me that everything was OK. She was so full of it because they never came to get me an X-ray. The ER Doctor said he will request one immediately because my blood sugar was high and my blood pressure and when he came back even though he put the order I never saw technician coming to get the x-ray. Later they took the X-ray. Five minutes before we get a discharge I have to ask them again and that’s when they are able to tell me about my x-ray results. While I was changing my clothes they came back to withdraw more blood out of me even though I was already discharge and I was just getting my items to go home. They were so desperate to make money in military insurance but they don’t even know what they were doing or saying. I know they have the worst reputation in the neighborhood but I never thought it was going to be this horrendous. Be careful while you’re taking your Newborn, children’s, parents or you grandparents. I will not trust nor recommend this place to no one. Please Do your research and try not to go there. Avoid this place it was pretty scary to see so many elderly people leave the facility.

I’ve been here for 6 hours with extreme abdominal pain, unable to walk or even move in my chair, waiting to see a doctor. I’ve had three tests done and after every test they’ve wheeled me back into the waiting room. After the 2nd test we passed what appears to be the only ER doctor on night shift leaving, as they haven’t brought a single person back to a room since my second test 3 hours ago. The ER beds are all empty but they have people sleeping in the waiting room. Honestly, thank god I brought ibuprofen from home, as I’ve had to dose myself with 1600 mg every few hours so I can withstand the pain until I can see a doctor. Like I get there’s an opioid epidemic, but they haven’t even offered their own ibuprofen to the people in pain so it’ll at least work faster. Worst ER I’ve ever been to.

The staff was nice enough and I understand ERs are slammed but they just left my kid to writhe and scream in pain. They said a room would be 8-9 hour wait at the minimum. We left bc nobody would help him even with the pain. We left. Can’t wait to see the ridiculous bill for the half a cup of pee they took from him.

Had a good experience here last night. I cut off the tip of my finger and althought the hospital was a bit busy, they were able to get my finger wrapped up properly while I waited to see a doctor. The nurses were friendly and answered all my questions and the doctor actually had great bedside manner which is hard to find anymore. Thanks to the team here for helping me last night and getting me through as quickly as possible.

Never go to this hospital. I waited for 5 hours, was told there were still 5 people in front of me and went home. My pain resurfaced worse than before so I came back in an ambulance and had to wait 8 more hours. They refused to give me water, neither of the vending machines worked so I was there for 14 hours with no food, and the doctors ended up prescribing me medication that was recalled in June. I will now get billed thousands of dollars for no treatment besides IV fluids and two Tylenol. UPDATE: The follow up appointment they supposedly scheduled for 1pm today was never scheduled and I was given the wrong address for the doctor.

I had the worst ER experience ever! 18 hours for my daughter to be called in, only to get more blood work because the last blood work was "old." Morning front desk staff came into their shift with a sassy attitude. The ER doctor, however, was good.

I waited 14 hours to be seen while i was in pain. I was admitted and released a few hours later. Then i got a bill months later. My insurance denied the claim because the doctor/hospital won't call them back or provide more information. I've called and called and keep getting sent to voicemail trying to sort this out. Worst hospital ever!

The staff in the ER responsible for processing patients were incredibly unfriendly and unempathic. Very depressing. Waited hours to be seen. Once in the ER itself, the care I received by the physician and nursing staff was phenomenal! Attentive, warm, solicitious and all in a timely manner. They were helpful in every way.. Can't thank them enough for the excellent treatment.

I have been here since 330 is 9:39pm x-ray, EKG and blood test taken. Also two other tubes the next two hours still no doctor has seen me. My blood pressure was 175/100 and my head is throbbing. Still waiting this is the very last time I would ever come here even if my doctor works here. Is time to switch.

Worst ER experience ever. Do not come here save your time and go to another hospital. Just walked out untreated after 3 hours of waiting. Dismissive nurses, unprofessional security (literally smoking inside the hospital, in their public security office with the back door cracked open) DON'T COME HERE save your money and time

Wait was long, but it's everywhere, every hospital in this country is understaffed! Dr Steven Press was super nice to my 2 year old that was hot with fever and nurse Jessica (JH2) was super great with the kid as well. If u don't want to wait go see ur doc or check with care clinics.

I have never met worse practitioners than the Saturday Morning crew. They truly do not care at all for anyone. Worst charge nurse, worse front desk attendants. Just ABYSMAL.

I cannot stress how unexpected this was, but our 3 year old had a seizure and it was a bad one. Her first. Ambulance took us to Swedish and they did everything possible for her, quickly, efficiently and gently. We are hugely grateful. Yeah, the seats are uncomfortable and who on earth cares about the seats when your loved one is sick?

Do not expect to be seen quickly. The wait times are usually a minimum of 4hrs. The front desk people are quite nice, and once you are seen and get your own room, I feel like they are quick to help and get you out of there. Thankfully there is a drink machine, a snack machine, a farmers fridge and a coffee machine because you will not make it without some snacks

To the blonde 6”2 linebacker lady that works up front, thank you for being caring and professional. Customer service might not be your thing. Hope you learn Spanish some time soon so you don’t have to sit there wide eyed while other people have questions. Don’t recommend this place other than to minorities. Lots of favoritism towards them.

I brought my husband to the ER concerned for a PE or DVT. I was prepared for him to spend all day there waiting, but we had the BEST care! Everyone was so kind, professional and efficient. The nurse that checked us in at the triage desk, the tech who did his EKG, the XRAY and CT techs - everyone was wonderful and took care of us so well. Special shout out to the ER doctor, our nurse, and the transporter - the doctor spent at least 20 minutes explaining everything to my husband. The nurse was amazing - he did everything above and beyond. He even walked me all the way to the cafeteria during a busy Saturday morning shift. The transporter noticed I was cold and brought me a warm blanket while I waited for my husbands testing. BEYOND impressed with this team!

honestly i've came here before by appointment and never had an issue but as i am typing this i've been waiting in the emergency room since 3AM ... it is now 8:06AM ... 5 hours and still waiting. the most annoying part is that there's doctors and nurses laughing and giggling behind the doors while we are all tired and in pain waiting to get seen. all we are getting told is "there's no available rooms" this huge hospital and you're telling me every room is occupied? i call bullish!t

Came here with my Pregnant gf to get some fluids for her. They refused to give her water and had her wait 8.5 hrs for an IV that ready requested by her doctor ahead of time. When asked why is taking so long. Their response was I control who can be seen and we have no doctors at the ER right now. So if no doctors why is the ER even open, that makes no sense. My poor Pregnant gf throwing up and dehydrated seating on a chair for 8.5hrs till we called her doctor was able to have someone see her. Irresponsable and careless. Someone need to be incharge of this hospital who knows what they are doing. Smh on their parts.

Extremely long wait time after 2 1/2 hours of waiting when asking if there was any idea as to when we would be seen and was asked if they should overlook other patients and to wait my turn as I had intended to do anywayI am an 80 year old man I was not rude or abusing in in my questions. I feel after 3 Hrs. Some information should be available.

Dr Steven Press was really pleasant to my 2 year old that was hot with fever and medical caretaker Jessica (JH2) was really extraordinary with the child too. In the event that u would prefer not to stand by go see ur doc or check with care facilities.

Literally having a heart attack right now. Got me sitting in the lobby, no IV no doctor or nurse so far. Got here 3 hours ago. Can’t leave to go to another hospital cause I’m too dizzy . I’m so much pain. Hope it’s not my last post. They should take me to another hospital if they can’t treat me properly is they are overbooked. Don’t come to their ER I recommend it.

DONT COME HERE!!! My mom was having chest problems so we drove here because it was the closest Emergency clinic. We had to wait 6 hours before we got our results. I could have lost my mom by that time. No one knows what’s going on with the facility. They care mostly about milking the patients dry. Seriously if you love your family members don’t come here

I was taken in an ambulance and they just left me in the waiting room. I was crying from the pain and anxiety. And they didn’t seem to care. When I asked how much longer. They guy mumbled “you’ve only been here for an hour” three hours later, I had to leave because the anxiety was getting to me so bad. Now I’m home in pain not knowing what’s going on with me.

Awful experience. Totally understand that things are massively disrupted by Covid and healthcare workers are facing burnout. But took my partner there for severe and sudden elevated blood pressure to rule out heart attack or other issues. He waited 6 hours and never saw a doctor or got any answers. They never even re-checked his BP again, which was much lower by the time we got home. Eventually he just left, saying it was totally disorganized and there was no communication. The waiting room experience was pretty awful, and guests had to sit outside during a severe thunderstorm, and there weren’t enough chairs. So I had to leave him there to wait it out. Can’t wait for the bill to come, and hope he didn’t get exposed for a “breakthrough infection.” Man, healthcare is getting hard to come by on Chicago. Doctors appointments takes months, and Urgent Care would just send him to the ER anyway. Not sure if it’s better at other hospitals right now, but this terrible.

I have been to tgeir emergancy room and they said its 6 hous waiting before they check me. I was there at night 3Am had so much pain but they said they will check me after 6am . So what kind of emergancy room is this where u have to wait this long? So here if you die fron your pain they will ask u wait . Worst hospital ever and worst staff

My Father tested positive for covid-19 at 7:30am. Our family spoke with a doctor and nurse later in the morning around 10:00am. Neither of them mentioned he tested positive for covid. They completely forgot to even mention this to the family. We didn't find out until about 12 hours later. And when I contact the Patient Experience Team to communicate my concern about this glaring mistake, I never received a call back. This hospital is poorly run, and isn't interested in even acknowledging any mistakes. Take your family elsewhere.

I’m currently sitting in the waiting room still. It’s 6:34 am I got here at 10:40 pm and haven’t been seen. Since being here I’ve seen another guy that’s been here for 12 hours and he still hasn’t been seen, they keep taking more and more ambulance patients but don’t make sure that the people in the waiting room are being seen soon enough. Even with the ambulance patients if they were able to keep just 1 room for just the people in the waiting room I could’ve been done and went home. I came in for a swollen throat a week ago and that day they put me on amoxicillin checked for strep and sent me on my way. I came back because my throat is getting worse and I haven’t been able to swallow easily and yet I’m still here waiting. They still say it’s gonna be another 3-4 hours. Over 8 people have left because the wait time is too long including a mother with her 2 young kids. And I’ve asked if they can just give me the results of my blood tests so I can just go to a prompt care with that information but they won’t give me anything until I get a room but they can’t give me a room. And on top of that there’s bugs in the waiting room, I’ve been crawled on and bit by atleast 3.

Don't walk away, RUN. Do not waste your time at this medieval torture chamber. Majority of the healthcare team was either overtly rude or indifferent regarding the lack of patient centered care. The communication concerning wait times is horrendous. Give patients the ability to choose another hospital if the wait time is going to be grossly long. 8 to 10 hours waiting in an ED, I could have called around to determine wait times at other ED's. This place is horrific. I will NEVER be back.

  • 5/5 Tim E. 1 year ago on Google
Not sure if it was simply due to the night of the week I was there, or to a slightly less than capacity waiting room that evening, but I had no problem receiving the expeditious medical attention necessary for a puncture wound to my foot from a kitchen knife accidentally knocked off the countertop. From registration through discharge, I never felt like I was not being attended to and was in and out in under two hours. My thanks to the whole staff that night who were all on point!

  • 1/5 Natalie V. 2 years ago on Google
If I could give it zero stars, I would. The worst place to go in case of an emergency. The staff was very disrespectful and careless. I waited from 3pm until 8pm to be seen in the emergency room. I asked a staff member how long will the wait be until we get treated and they said it could 3 hours or 6 hours more. They also said If we didn’t like the wait time, we could leave. Never have I been to a medic where they have a huge disregard for people’s health. Don’t waste time and take your loved ones somewhere else.

  • 5/5 Bricago 1 year ago on Google
I was fortunate to have a short wait time for my visit. The nurses and doctors here are true professionals. Every one of them was attentive, kind, and explained the treatments they gave efficiently and thoroughly. Not one of them appeared checked-out or preoccupied. The hallways were orderly and calm, no constant beeping or incessant chatter. Thank you, Swedish Covenant ER for a better approach to emergency care. ❤️

Called ambulance when I got there. I waited more than three hours still no doctor saw me i felt so annoyed and left. It’s better to go to your regular physician. They will see you faster than the stupid emergency room.

I was referred here by a physician as my state was critical enough that they could not assit me at a immediate or urgent care. Once I arrive I was quickly attended to at around 3:30pm to have my vitals checked. It is now 9:53pm and I have still not been seen. My test results at the other labs had already come back positive and I was encouraged to seek immediate IV antibiotics due to the nature of my issue and that is was pertinent for me to be seen and treated quickly. This lack of concern, care, and courtesy here has been terrible. Kind people at the desk and in the lobby but the doctor managing the flow of paintients has no urgency for those who need care. Unless you are bleeding, throwing up, broken bone, or having a seizure, DO NOT COME HERE! I have seen over 6 patients go in before me with the front desk nurse saying I wan “next” on the list. There is a reason this hospital has an over all rating of 1.6 stars and that is an accurate reflection of the service they provide.

i don’t think people know the meaning of EMERGENCY room. if you are not having an emergency then you will obviously not be called in immediately. all the lab work and scans that are done are being seen by the doctor inside and if they look good, then you will not be prioritized over someone who is actually having an emergency. you would think people would be happy that they aren’t being rushed into an emergency room but i guess common knowledge isn’t that common nowadays. urgent care is always an option and more than half of yall should be going there rather than the ER.

This hospital has to be short of staff. It takes way too long to be seen. Unless you come by ambulance your wait time is 4-8 hours. Even if you have a patient over 70 years of age who had a fall and doesn’t remember falling and was diagnosed with the flu. I will not bring my mother back here.
