    They do not have all the arm machines, but a big plus is their equipment is spread out well. Some PF's you are crowded, not here. Nice layout. Place was clean, staff extremely friendly and helpful. Showers were clean. Ran out of hot water and i was the only one using showers at the time. It did come back to hot a few minutes later. I would marry the hydra-bed. All in all: highly recommend this facility.

    Great location for me but they could be better. I would say staff is very robotic, they say the basic answer and don't really smile much. The equipment seems nice and new but the variety could improve. Also they don't give you a tour when you sign up so finding out what all is and where everything is takes a few trips to figure out. I do love the PF app though.

    I enjoyed this location!! They have add some nice new equipment since the last time I was there!! The staff is very friendly and very attentive which is great! I will definitely be back soon and super excited with using the new workout center right in the middle of the gym!

    Get more smith machines, for being a commercial gym, on a very busy to have only 4 is injustice. Be prepared to wait over 40 minutes so you can use said smith machine because people hug and just take forever and your stuck waiting cause this gym refuse to add more to the gym. I went on a “not so busy day” also, Do better.

    I got my jacket stolen there and the staff didn't do anything about it they didn't care thats the bad part also people get on the machine all day they need to set a time límite

    I have subscribed to this gym for a year now, it is not bad and front desk are very nice and friendly but The gym is super super busy all the time and there is not enough machines for this number of visitors at all. Only one leg press machine! Two seated leg presses only! You could wait an hour to use it any. 4 smith machines which are always full. No barbells with plates, no hip thrusting machines, no mirrors to watch your techniques except for the free weights area. Overall They need more benches, more squat/bench presses machines. People would be fighting for empty benches lol. I wish it was better because the location is perfect but unfortunately i will cancel my membership and hopefully management will improve the gym

    This is a very welcoming place. Eric is always smiling and available. Says goodbye when I leave as well. Any things that come up the staff always takes care of. Jonathan is great as is the rest of the staff. Makes a difference that they are aware and welcoming. I have been to other gyms and this is a lovely experience. Can always find a bike and the treadmill to do. Some of the machines require a wait depending on when I go. Place is clean and maintain regularly throughout the day. Kudos

    Best Planet Fitness around and have been to dozens. Facility is large and always sweaky clean. Lots of parking but only one small bike rack. Another one is definitely needed. Inside there is a great choice of equipment and the machines are spaced far apart to allow for social distancing. Very rarely is a machine out of order. The girls at the front desk are always pleasant never forgetting to say "hi" and "bye". Friendly team member Luis always seems to be there working hard helping a guest or keeping the facility in excellent order. Great overall environment with great staff to boot.

    This is my favorite Planet Fitness in the City of Chicago. I'm a Black Card holder so I've been to a lot of locations. The staff is always friendly and helpful, they always maintain the locker rooms, the space is very spacious and the relaxing area is great. The tanning and spa is roomy and clean. I like to relax a bit after my workout at the tables. Good job to the staff at the Pulaski location.

    Working out at this gym is one of my favorite pastimes. I'd been a customer for over a year. The location and facilities of this gym piqued my interest. The coaches were pleasant. I am able to carry out healthy routines properly here. Strongly recommended!

    Follow up: called the location and spoke to the manager. He did nothing but gas light me about the entire situation. Worst experience ever. Been a black card member at planet fitness for over 3 years and never had a problem. This planet fitness denied me entry. They said someone else showed up when they put my phone number in. This person was a guest of mine over 6 months ago and used my phone number since they didn't have an American number. The shift lead even asked to see my bank account transactions to show I was currently paying. Then he changed his mind and said he wanted me to call another location to have them verify my account. But I'm sure that still wouldn't have satisfied him. Terrible experience. This staff all needs some serious training. I will never go to this location again.

    Decent gym. You get what you pay for. Would be great if they had bike racks to avoid us having to lock up our bikes on the fence.

    Pretty nice and simple. Clean and organized. Man who greeted me was nice. Seems like it could get packed pretty easily during the day or after work hours. I went early this morning and it was virtually empty. Limited equipment, but gets the job done.

    Please do yourself a favor and go to XSport or LA Fitness. It is IMPOSSIBLE to cancel a membership here. I don't even live in Illinois anymore and haven't lived in Illinois for 3 years. They refuse to cancel my membership and stop billing my card every month unless I show up in person or send a "certified letter" asking to cancel. I tried cancelling a long time ago and gave up because of the number of hoops you have to go through. They've been stealing my money ever since. It's not 1900 anymore, sorry not going to hire the pony express to get you to stop stealing my money every month, when I'm TELLING YOU to CANCEL my membership. I had to call my bank and pay a $30 fee to get them to reject Planet Fitness charges. I'm more than happy to pay $30 to my bank as long as these thieves don't get another nickel from me. FINALLY I'M FREE FROM PLANET FITNESS THEFT

    It is a good start up gym especially if its your first time going. The price is reasonable and you can bring a friend when you upgrade. I like the ambiance and everyone tends to mind their own business.

    Really nice staff, in a convenient location, and has a cool building. But there are not enough benches, pull up machines, smith machines, stair climbers, cables, and a few other strength machines I can’t name from the top of my head. Meanwhile there are so many cardio machines that I’ve never seen more than half of them used at once. Nice gym but there are not enough of certain machines, while there is an excessive amount of bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals. Also no bench press even though it is one of the most useful machines at a gym :(

    Worst planet fitness I have ever been to and I love planet fitness so sad to post this. Only staff is see is lady at the desk. Bathroom is dirty. Have a broken toilet but people keep using it. Runs out of towels to wipe equipment. Most people don’t wipe equipment. Parts of the floor are coming up. Hope they fix all the problems here.

    Like the layout, cost, and employees seem nice-for as little as I deal with them. The music on the other hand has been less than ideal for a gym. Not "inclusive" for everyone that is a member.. I know headphones are an option but when with a friend? Gym could use a lot more cleaning as well..and lately ALOT of the treadmills have been broken.

    Update: Response from Owner below is Boilerplate and lame. None of my concerns were addressed. Down 1 star. I've had less than satisfactory interactions with staff at Avondale. Thought escalating the issues through this review would help. Satisfactory response would at least be "We'll take this up with our staff at Avondale and see what we can do to address your concerns." or "Your issues are not important to us. Please use another club." Black Card Spa: 1) Impossible to see bed/chair numbers on wall when you walk in from outside — some level of lighting would help; also white numbers instead of purple on purple. 2) Where are the head rests/ pillows for the lay flat beds? They are at every other club. Also helps one to know which direction to lay. 3) Room always smells bad on entering; like dead steer. 4) please allow 3 minutes before startup so one can spray down the bed/chair. Other clubs (like Elk Grove) give you that time. I’ve never seen any guest clean a bed/chair after using! Men’s Locker Room: Why no identification? — until you search the area and see someone emerge from a nondescript hole in the wall at the back. Cleaning: First time I’ve seen a staffer wipe down the sink area in a men’s locker room at any club. Awesome!! Thank you!

    I used to love this gym, but can’t say the same anymore. Recently it has been impossible to get any good workout in because the machines are constantly either out of order, broken, falling apart, or malfunctioning some type of way. The stairmasters have been useless for months now and they don’t seem to have to fixed. And whenever they do, they’re broken again within a week, it’s infuriating. Same goes with a lot of the leg machines. Would wish they would take care of its maintenance more.

    Avondale. When I mentioned the lack of spray bottle in the Black Card Spa, the staffer preached “All members are REQUIRED to carry their own spray bottle with them!” As if I was supposed to know that. Nothing of the sort was mentioned when I had my spa orientation the day before. A little less attitude would be nice! (Just to get her attention when I stood at the counter was surprisingly difficult!) Seems like a decent enough club — but wouldn’t park in the lot after dark.

    Great place for cardio. Lots of treadmills & ellipticals. Free weights, Smith machines, and benches are very popular so expect to have to wait on them during peak hours (4-8pm).

    Tanning beds are almost always unclean and layered with someone else's lotion. The club expects you to clean it yourself...that's fine, but members are not certified in correct cleanliness nor getting paid to work. At any given point you can find staff more concerned with being on their cell phone. The row machines are usually not working correctly. I've talked to staff several times about these issues. Recently they have turned off heat to the water in the showers. This is a great space for potential, but I've been to much better PF's.

    Proud to call this place my home gym. It’s never slammed like other locations across Chicago but certainly gets busy frequently (usually no wait for the machine/equipment you want to use). Friendly staff and they keep the place clean. Not much else you can ask for! Thanks, Avondale PF!

    Park your car here at your own risk. My car was broken into in their parking lot, and based on the "Whatever happens in the lot is your fault despite this being our property" signs posted throughout the lot, this is not only common but not something they care overmuch about. Gym itself is fine, lots of machines, cheap membership. I appreciate the staff's efforts to keep things clean and COVID/disease-conscious. Just be aware that parking is a risk, one that might outweigh the benefits of going here.

    I’ve been going to this gym for over 5 years and LOVE the staff, equipment, etc. Only reason for 3 star rating is for the lack of security in the parking lot. My car had its catalytic converter stolen at 11AM during broad daylight. I don’t feel safe parking my car there anymore so now I go to other locations.

    Everyone who has been working while I've been working out has been very nice and helpful. I can exercise from home but I enjoy mixing it with getting into a different place and listening to music I am not familiar with- cheers me up in many ways.

    A good place actually... There personal trainer knows what he is talking about.. As well as patient, explaining things to you without making you feel as if you're incompetent. Really wants to help you achieve your fitness goals. Pretty clean compared to most places I've been to. Which is very important. Overall the staff members, environment, is good... Parking is never a problem! As well as everything works that's supposed to work. Sinks, showers, everything.. And unlike exports, especially the one at the brickyard. They haven't kicked me out, for working out two extremely :-) they really want to see you achieve your fitness goals. And will help you strengthen as you properly healthily, consistently, as you grow. Never hating, just helping Elevate your flow.. That's what's up! ... ..

    Don’t even bother. This gym is so disorganized that they can’t retain staff. Charge you an annual fee and when you call to inquire about it, claim “you should have known,” despite representatives (who are no longer there) clearly communicating otherwise. Found out I was charged two annual fees despite not even having my membership for two years

    The PF Avondale location looks really good after the renovation. All the machines and equipment were really clean and there were plenty of staff around to assist with wiping down equipment. People were great about keeping their masks on and social distancing.

    After ten years coming here with no problems . Now they want a credit card with a routing number so if you have no bank account you can't join this gym. How sad for you guys as a company to these loyal customers. I will never go to another planet fitness never im my life 💯. Shame on you guys after we help you guys get to where you are today . Hope you guys go out of business forever money hungry companies . Loyal customers should be able to pay more than one way .

    Canceling in person is not a guaranteed cancelation. My sister and I went in person before the 10th of the month to cancel our memberships and were told by the front desk boy that it was done. 7 days later we get billed yet again. I called 3 times before I could get a manager on the phone - only to find that he is also useless and not willing to help at all. He was mostly focused on who he has to "retrain". Now I have to reach out to HQ and dispute the contract because I signed up for NO commitment contract and they want to make me pay an exit fee. Its a NO contract promo I saw online, on their own website. Who keeps those 'coupons' as backup? Steven (Mgr) you told me you would see this and I hope that you do - If you started at this location since March 2023 - then you should know exactly WHO was the boy/employee working on the specified dates. It takes 2 seconds to look at your past schedules. You and your front desk team both need to be retrained. I hate being a 'Karen' more than anything in the world 100% but people like you and your front desk employee - are the very same reason Karen's exist. We all make mistakes - it's how you go about resolving the matter that distinguishes a real professional/manager. The employees deserve better, customer's deserve better.
