Very delicious. VERY healthful and super affordable. If you are looking for very affordable, traditional Yucatan food, I highly recommend this place.

After visiting Chichen Itza we wanted to escape the big crowds and eat at a place nearby. I found this charming little spot on tripadvisor. It was a quick 10 minutes drive from Chichen Itza. Upon arrival, the place looked very simple. Even so, I’ve had the best food at places that were as simple as this one and I had a good feeling about it. The owners were delighted to have us and super friendly! And the food, amazing!! Typical local Mexican food and you can tell that they cook with love! I got the feeling that the place was family owned and runned by the family. We were five adults and had five meals, one shared starter, three beers, one lemonade, one water and we we’re stunned when we got the bill, only 510 pesos for the whole thing. The food and the service was excellent and we were more than happy to leave a tip. Give this place a try! Don’t get put off by the simple looks of it from the street. You really won’t regret it!

Perfect for a good Meal after Visiting Chichén Itzá. The Food was really good (also the quality) and the people really nice. Wifi and really clean too. Walk down the street for some great fresh coconuts!

Very authentic place with delicious local food. We had huevos rancheros, sopa de lima, sopa de verdure, guacamole and fajitas. Everything was perfect. There is parking, wifi, card accepted. Dont be shy to stop by. You will be more than satisfied. :)

One of our favorite restaurants to have local gastronomy experience at Chiche itza area!! Don't give too much importance to appearance and believe in giving a chance. you won't regret. Best Guacamole ever! Fajitas, ceviche pescado and others great dishes... Service very pleasant!

Amazing food! Would definitely eat here again. A group of 4 on our way to Chichen Itza wanted to get breakfast along the way, after comparing on google what may be suitable for vegan eaters I chose to stop at El Mestizo and all four of us are extremely glad we did. Arriving just as they opened we had to wait a little bit for them to get ready and start preparing the food which tasted SO FRESH. The two of us who ate vegan each had a plantain (platano) and portion of 3 tacos which had black bean, avocado, lettuce, and pickled onion but wow something so simple was excellent from scratch. Served with habenero sauce in a small bowl. Also bought a Tamarind juice on top. It is along the roadside but set back a bit above the ground, space for a few cars to park, there isn’t much scenery to look at but it was a nice quiet space that just felt good & looks can be deceiving so just give the food a try.

Delicious food - typical Yucatan dishes, but very well executed (the meat of the pilbil is very tender, the veggies are fresh..). Generous portions. Very nice service. All for very reasonable price! Strongly recommend as a stop on your way to the cenotes or chichen itza!

Amazing food for a really good price. Just what you need between (or after) visiting the cenotes and temples. Sitting outside and having a perfect break!

Simple, but absolutely delicious food. The pork is amazing! Two steps away from Chicken-Itza, you can park at the front and prices are low.

Excellent traditional food, cochinita pibil is spectacular! Mais tortillas are home maid. The service is cool too.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had. The cochinita pibil and poc chuc are so excellent, they have a lovely patio and everyone was so kind and informative. 10/10, I’ll never forget this lunch.

Fantastic little shack with great authentic food, nice people, ver in expensive 1/4 the cost of restaurants on busy street and just what we wanted for our first trip to Mexico.

Very simple restaurant on the side of the road but trust me, the food did not disappoint: everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Great value for money. Plus, the lady managing the restaurant was super nice. Definitely recommend :)

What a wonderful breakfast!! Tasty eggs, great tortillas, fantastic juices, and the best fruit platter we had on this trip (and we’ve gotten a fruit platter nigh on every breakfast)- all for a very reasonable price. Super friendly service, and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean too!

I ate a lot of pork at different restaurants on this trip to the yucatán, and it was all delicious. El Mestizo had the best pork of them all. My only regret is they didn't have cochinita that day. Fantástico.

Some of the best traditional Mexican regional food you can get. The service was just as amazing. If you are visiting the pyramids, make this your lunch spot!

Small local place with great typical local food and with good prices. We ate: 4 tacos and a plate of chilaquiles (+drinks) and payed 140 MXN. Good service and really nice people. Recommended!

Muy sabroso Todo me hizo recorder las comidas en familia Todo lo preparan Al momento no se deje decepcionar por la primera impression que da El local y los precios super economics. Very good food really tasty do not be fool by the appearance of the place everything made from scratch so it'll take some time but it reminded me of family dinners and prices are very economic you will not regret eating at this place.

This might not look like a gem but it is. One of us is a vegetarian and they made an effort to accomodate her (Fajitas with lots of fresh veggies). I had the Cochinita Pibil, which was very delicious. Amazing value for money. Don't come here if you are in a rush, though.

😠 We didn't stay in the hotel, just went there for breakfast before Ik Kil. Breakfast was the worst we had in Mexico so far. The coffee was terrible, the scrambled egg was definitely not freshly made but just heat up in the microwave. Looked like it was from the day before. It gave me an upset stomach...
