We did this on full moon night. A thrilling experience. Starting the walk around 4am, we were climbing up with a few torches and moonlight. The track was a moderate level trail, easy to go if you are working out 2-3 days a week. Doable for a Person with no physical activity too, but might be a bit tiring. Use good shoes with grip since it might be slippery at a few points. The sunrise 🌅 location is great! If you want to know about more treks, you can visit my profile

It's a beautiful place for some very early morning trekking.. the tickets have to be bought online from Karnataka ecotourism site. Around ₹250 + taxes per head. The earliest batch for trekking begins at 4am. The trek difficulty is easy-moderate. There are beautiful views along the way. The trek becomes difficult during monsoon season and the view from top is pretty cloudy, but it is manageable. Carry water bottle + snacks beforehand as these are not available nearby. There is a dedicated parking at the foothills. At the top there is a temple and a breathtaking view. The area is also quite windy during monsoons.

It costs 250 rupees for the trek and it can be booked only online on myecotrail website. It is a beautiful hiking spot where you can catch a breathtaking sunrise view. Before going ahead, do book the tickets on the website as only prior booking is entertained. The trek on itself is not that easy even though it's said to be moderate. It requires a minimal fitness. Start the trek by 4 am early morning so that you can reach the peak by 5/6 am, on time to catch the sunrise. Don't forget to carry a torch as you'll be starting the trek in darkness.

The trek is of intermediate level. Do some walking or exercise the day before going there. Even if your not fit, you can take breaks in between, but will consume a lot of time to reach the top. It will take minimum of 1 hour and more to reach the top. Even tho its painfull, the experience you get will be Worthy. The view from the top is awesome with nice breezes and mist. You will need to do online booking for treking. Suggestions is to book the 4:00 am slot so that you see the sunrise and try not climb after 8 am because it will start to get hot. Carry one bottle of water per person and some dry fruits or health snacks. Have a extra per of clothes, only if there is chance to rain and try to maintain the weight of the bag as less as possible.

It is a nice getaway, an easy/medium difficulty trek nearly 70kms from Bangalore. Would recommend buying the tickets early as limited slots are available. There are 2 slots, 4am and 8am. 4am would be recommended as the beauty of this place can be fully observed during sunrise. Also it would become a bit difficult to trek due to heat/sun. Carry food/drinks as you won't get anything at the top, base point would still have few street vendors to offer coconut water and other packed food items. Overall it's a nice place but the weather plays an important role so plan accordingly.

Trekking Skandagiri was a captivating adventure, with the moonlit night adding an extra layer of mystique to the ascent. The initial trail led through dense forests, creating an immersive atmosphere punctuated by occasional sounds of nocturnal wildlife. As the path unfolded, steep ascents challenged resilience, while the rocky terrain demanded careful navigation. Reaching the summit under the vast star-studded sky felt like a triumph. The anticipation of the sunrise heightened the experience, and as dawn approached, the landscape gradually unveiled itself in shades of dawn. The panoramic view from the top, with rolling hills and distant plains, was nothing short of breathtaking.

Skandagiri Hills' peak is a stunning location where clouds pass by closely, good serenity, especially during the beautiful sunrise. The trek is a basic 5 km route suitable for beginners. Ensure you purchase tickets online a day before, costing around 304 per person; keep a PDF copy for entrance. To catch the sunrise, start trekking at 4:00 am to reach the peak by 6:30 am, allowing you to witness the sunrise at 6:50-6:55 am. Carry a torchlight for the early morning trek. Don't miss the Lord Shiva temple at the peak. Highly recommended visit!

I am a septuagenarian. My daughter and son-in-law invited me to try the trek to Skandagiri. We were a group of fourteen people. I was the oldest at 72, and the youngest was my grandson who was about seven and a half years old. The climb is steep. We started at 04.30 am. I would say that out of two hours taken to reach the top, hundred minutes are spent climbing rocks and slopes. Walking is perhaps less than twenty minutes. The path is narrow and goes between boulders and tall grass. descent also took two hours. Atop the hill, there is a dilapidated Shiva temple. The space on the top is not much. It becomes quite crowded. I was glad that I made it safely back. Youngsters should definitely try this trek. It requires some fitness. Skandagiri is not for couch potatoes.

What an experience. We booked online in Karnataka tourist site. We have to pay 250 for adults. It is free for kids below 12. Forrest officials check your booking before the trail. I did this with my son. It is 3.5km trek one way. Please carry enough water as there are no shops in the trail. Limited parking available in the starting point, infront of a temple.

This was my first trek in Bangalore. Started the trek at around 4:30 AM in the morning. Wonderful views from the top after completing the approx 4km trek. Enjoyed every bit of it. Difficulty- Easy to Moderate Book tickets in advance. Or go through some trekking group so they can take care of it.

The trek is good, but you have wait a lot before you enter. Too much crowd on weekends, so if you planning and don't want to disappoint then its better to go on a week day. Book the tickets in advance from government website since the tickets are bought by travel agent in advance, then you will have buy from them and you will end up spending 4-5 times more.

It is a nice spot for a day outing from Bangalore. Takes about 1hr from Hebbal. Good place for family. If you want to climb the mountain you will have to book it online. Otherwise you can also go around and explore the area which is not protected by forest department. Make sure not to go to protected area with out permits otherwise you will be fined.

A best trek for beginners also if they are fit . Many not able to make to top especially old and weak. Youngsters can easily make it. Be careful at 3rd section of trek since soil there is very loose and slippery and be very very careful at last section which is the most toughest and dangerous. Beware of snakes in last section. Keep your bag safe since you’ll be attacked by monkeys at top.

You have to get tickets from Karnatakaecotourism.com( 250 person). The view on top is so magnificent I'm not able to describe the nature beauty. The trek was quite moderate difficult. We didn't reach top before sunrise but while treking we saw beautiful scenery. To get the fog view you should be at top before 6:05am . If you are in banglore you must visit the place . It's so amazing 🌲⛰️🌲🌲

It's a really beautiful trek, especially the climb as you can witness hundreds of stars above you and thousands of glittering city lights ahead of you, do carry water bottle, some light snacks and enjoy the beauty of a sunrise above the winter fog. Don't forget to book the trek online, Apx: 300rs with tax. Best time to visit : Nov-Jan. Trek is a bit tough, especially while getting down, would seem like forever to get down hill but don't lose hope :) Don't litter the place nor play loud music. Carry some flashlights and you are good to go.

Good one for trekkers. It’s intermediate to a bit difficult level but anyone can do this with enough breaks and rest. There’s just on trail so can’t get lost. We did 4 am night trek and it was worth it. Heard its packed on weekends so we did on a Thursday with very less crowd, mostly local crowds who will carry their speakers and play loud music. Sneakers with good grip is enough. Took us around 2 hours to reach the top with many break and only 45 minutes to return. Buying tickets online is recommended because i heard they won’t allow without prior booking.

Lord shiva temple on top🙏. One of Awesome long trek spot, it takes minimum 1.5hours to reach the top and maximum 2.5hours, depends on our progress. The trek start time is only 6AM to 10AM, lady 10AM slot is preferred. We need to return back before 3PM. There will be nothing in middle of treks, be prepared with 2L of water, snacks and chocolates. Nice view point in all stages of trek, keep power bank too. There is good parking space costing 20 for 2-wheeler and 50 for others. Entry should be pre-registered in karnataka eco tourism website. They charge 300 on week days and 608 on weekends including gst. There will be some confusion on trek ways we go, but it's fine, so anyway, we néed to comeback as there will be no other way 😜. Be careful, Some of the rocks were slippery due to dews. While We are raising to higher altitude, wind speed could vary from 60 to 100kmph. It's not safe trek to bring infants or kids lesser than 8. At the top of trek, you need to visit peak point behind temple which gives immense satisfaction of all the trek, beware, monkey family residing there and don't consume any snacks. Have a great trek ahead guys!!

The lush green surroundings and the serene atmosphere made the journey even more enjoyable. The trek offered a perfect blend of challenge and excitement, making it suitable for both experienced trekkers and beginners. The trail was well-marked, and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Camping under the stars added a touch of magic to the experience. A beautiful place to hike. The trail is not very defined. There are few challenging stretch. But all the effort is worth it. It was extremely windy and foggy on peak. We could not view anything from the peak. We started the trek at 4AM in the morning to view sunset at the peak but due to fog we could not view anything. You will have to take Permission prior trek on the government website. There are limited number of slots available for a particular day. There are 2 time slots available. 4AM and 8 AM slot. It is advisable to start at 4 since it would become extremely hot to start by 8AM.

Beautiful place to trekking, it's about 4-5km one side. It's good to climb during winter season. If you reach at the starting point as per scheduled time then you will be allocated with a Guide who will guide you till hill top. It's good to carry water bottle and snacks since there are no shops on top of the hill nor midway.

Beautiful & adventurous trek. Difficulty level - moderate to difficult (depending on individual strength). The whole trek is covered with stones. Only small plane patches. But when you reach the top, you get awestruck by the serenity of clouds surrounding you. Start trekking at 4 am in the morning. Most of the time you will be walking in the clouds.

Excellent for hikers. Although it's moderate to slightly challenging, anyone can do it with adequate breaks and recuperation. Our night trek at 4 a.m. was worthwhile. We visited on a Monday because we had heard that it was crowded on weekends. With several breaks, it took us around 2 hours to get to the summit; the trip back took about 45 minutes. It is advised to get tickets online because I've heard they won't let you in without a reservation.

Went on a weekday. The climb was easy to moderate difficulty for someone who is climbing for the first time or is not into physical activities. It was a foggy day and mist all over. The breeze was soothing and the mist just made it even more tranquil. Do prior bookings and recommend to visit on a weekday for a peaceful exp.

I wanna give an honest opinion based on my experience. The difficulty level of this trek depends on your fitness. For some of my friends it was way too hard and for others it was not that. So if you are doing cardio regularly or even in motion you will not find it very hard. There are just rocks , pebbels and sands so there is no proper way or like steps which make it a bit hard not while climbing but while coming back. I would suggest carrying as few things as possible also make sure your shoes are not slippery it could be a nightmare for you. Lastly, about the view. When I visited Skandagiri that day there were just clouds as you can see in the images , unfortunately we couldn't experience the sunrise although the clouds and the total view was awesome. PS: Some of my friends think that it was not worth it cuz we climbed for around 2 hours and the view was not that great. But if you still wanna experience a trek and you are in good shape you can go for it. Also, book your slots in advance from Karnataka tourism site otherwise you won't get any offline tickets available.

Lovely place for nature lovers. It's a short trail of 4Km which took 2 hour to climb, complete route is very beautifull and amazing.

The trek was moderate... It wouldn't be very easy for a first time trekker if you are not physically fit or active otherwise. But it is doable with more resting and it is worth it. The views from the top are amazing. You need to book online in advance. Carry enough water and snacks or trail mix. It is a fun and engaging activity.

One of the most beautiful day treks in bangalore, go with your friends or family safe for all, there is a little steep climbing make sure you don't have any issues like back pain, leg pain or any injury. Once you reach the top it has a beautiful view. Must go

Trekking level is hard , please carry plenty of water with you , best time to start trekking is 4am to 5am so that you will reach at the perfect time. If you just want to chill and don't want to work hard then this trek isn't for you .

  • 5/5 Abhi S. 1 year ago on Google
Best place I hiked so far! Do remember there is nominal fee to visit. If you go early morning there will be a guide with you (not sure for later timings). Sunrise is worth every ruppe you spend. Best to have head lamp and go when weather is clear. Many traveling groups go there so you can book and forget about planning to just enjoy the treck. Due to moisture early in the morning rocks and pathway becomes slippery so be careful to have footwear with food grip. Also there may be water streams if it rains. We particularly walked through the clouds!!!
