This place is well known as Big Banyan tree and to preserve this tree they have created a garden around it. It is a very small garden with a walkable track of around 400 meters and around 10-12 seating benches. You cannot go out from the dedicated walkable pathway. There is one temple within the premises and pay and use washroom facility is available. Since the tree is not dense enough and close to a street one might not feel much away or peace around it. This place actually deserves 3 star but 1 star extra for all those people who helped in preserving and maintaining this natural beauty.

A quick drive from Bangalore, this natural wonder is a must visit for nature enthusiasts . Well it's not much different from other nature parks but just that this one contains a full family of Baniyan trees originated from a single tree which is 400 years old. Park has free entry but they charge for toilet usage. Path ways are well laid and there are multiple benches to sit and soak in the beauty and might of this entire place. Efforts of forest department in rejuvenating the tree complex and nurturing the new roots is well appreciated. Park also provides nice information on Ficus /Banyan tree species and the variety of wildlife it supports.

It’s a nice spot for taking pictures. It’s nice for a short visit. The trees are just so amazing. They said it started with 1 tree then the branches from that tree falling down to the ground then from that, it grows another trees and so on. They’re so huge and strong. Lots of monkeys there. The monkeys don’t mind with the humans there around them. They not naughty as well so don’t worry. The cute thing is that there’s a small coconut shop just in front of it and the monkeys love to chill there on top of the roof just to wait till customers finish drinking the coconut water and after that the seller will open the coconut, cut it into pieces and give it to the monkeys

It is huge tree with 120 mtrs circumference of its branches. There is a temple in the centre. There are a lot of monkeys also. Nothing much to do here. 30 mins to 1 hr is sufficient for this place. Few hawkers are outside you can indulge in some street food. Parking place needs to alloted or maintained. Restroom for emergencies are available.

This place was in my bucket list for a long time. Finally we have been there last week. I must say it’s a nice place where you can go, sit and walk. The park is well maintained and the efforts are put on promoting it. There is no waiting time or entry ticket at least we didn’t see.

Having lived in Bangalore all my life, I have heard some magnificent stories about the Big Banyan Tree. However, when I finally made the drive, it was disappointing to see the dire state of the tree. It looked caged, old and dying. It's the indifference of us humans that have once again managed to kill the beauty of nature .. sad. What survives today are the last of the few remaining roots.😔 But having said that, it's still worth a weekend drive, around 40 km from the city center. The other highlights of the place are the generations of monkeys living in the tree. We encountered a few huge bully monkeys and some tiny tots. Be careful and maintain distance, they are not that friendly. The place is well maintained, entrance was free and walkable parking space.

One of the best place to visit with kids during holidays. It is not far away from Bangalore so the ride/drive would be enjoyable. It is one of the oldest banayan tree. Almost 400 years old. Who ever going by car, do not worry about parking. Enjoy the tree and nature with kids and couples .

Nice place overall. This is a giant banyan tree approximately 400-year-old. This single plant covers 3 acres and is one of the largest of its kind. The parent tree is already succumbed before 25 years and these are the roots and branches of it. Now, a temple is constructed at the same place for its remembrance. Not much to do around but you can surely enjoy the restful, undisturbed peace and solace in nature around you. Good for couples and family to spend some time (an hour) walking by and sitting on the benches while enjoying the shades and photo framing.

Loved the place. Its peaceful and serene. It rained previous night and everything was lush green. This place does not have dedicated parking yet parking spaces can be found close by. Decently maintained. Due to heavy winds and stormy weather a part of the tree had uprooted. Approach road from mysore highway is well maintained.

It is one of the best short distance travel destination from Bangalore. It is hardly 40 kms from Bangalore. The huge banyan tree is some 400 years old. Kids will have good time. You can finish this spot in hardly 30 mins after capturing some pics. The only issue is parking. There is no dedicated place to park vehicles. You will have to leave the vehicle on main road itself, so be careful to find a safe place.

It's a 400 year old banyan tree which has spread out over a large area. The canopy creates shade and cool environment, which you feel as soon as you walk under the branches. Large number of benches have been provided for people to sit. Public toilet facility is available. It's about 30 km from Bengaluru.

No entry into the enclosure area since last 1 yr. Decent toilet facility for women is inside the enclosure or in a nearby 2 storied restaurant. This was once a quaint little place with just a few shops. It has now over developed. Coming here just for seeing the tree is not a wise option anymore. You can head to the nearby falls.

It’s massive for your eyes, 400 years old the 4th biggest Banyan tree in India. Hard to see the entire tree from one angle, it spreads over 3 acres. Very well maintained, visitors love the huge size and take selfie’s everywhere. Lovely place to spend some quality time and get some fresh air O2 good for your lungs. Lots of shops, restaurants around to eat.

It's definitely a beauty of nature to see such a huge tree.. however it's not very scenic is more like a park. If you stay far it may be not be worth the travel. And there aren't many other tourriest places around except for a dam to which public is not allowed.

This is a good place to visit with family and spend 1-2 hours. Place was clean and it has benches to sit. This tree is very big, very old and spread across a big area. Nothing much to do here except having a shorts all around tree, taking few snaps and sitting and talking to your family but it’s a good serene place. You can visit manchanabele from here which is like 10-11 km away from this place. Just opposite to this there is one veg hotel and we found food to be nice. There are lot of plant nurseries on the way and also there is a Vineyard nearby, maybe these can be combined when you visit the place. Local hotels and restaurants are available near to the site, it is good to carry food if you are planning to spend more time.

The big banyan tree is a nice place to spend your late afternoons with your family. Though the area is spread across in acres but they have put boundaries and closed most of the areas. You can not see the entire place, which I am sure is very beautiful. Lots of monkey, so be careful with your stuff. And don't eat food in front of them they can come and snatch. Place is really majestic its sad that they have closed partially. The banyan tree is massive it has a main stem, and from it branches, other stems fall, rooting into the ground. The environment is cool because of this beautiful tree spreading across 3 acres and gives the much sought-after relief from the scorching heat. The area is well fenced, and there is a small temple in the middle. There are benches on which you can sit and relax.

Restrooms are well maintained but they charge rs 5 for using them. You have a decent hotel and lodge where you can fresh up and eat.

Nice place, but not well maintained! We Indians don't value our natural wonders. The same place in a foreign country would have attracted thousands of visitors just because of great maintenance and great story they tell about such places. It is high time we become serious about cleanliness and value what god has given us.

A nice weekend drive which is situated about 50 km from Bangalore. Can get a little crowded during the weekends. The place is well maintained and is a good hangout location. There is a small temple situated inside the park. There are benches present all over the park and the whole ambience is peaceful and calming. There are monkeys present all around the park and to a certain degree the car park outside. Its best to just let them be and not feed them. On their own they arent troublesome and seem to be used to the human crowd. Ofcourse, they cant be blamed for their actions if people so foolishly open food packets in front of them or feed them.

Very nice for nature lovers. Really great to see the tree which has almost 1300 branches and out of that 800 branches touching ground and growing again. You can spend some 1 hour sitting and looking at greenery. Photos can be taken which are in turn elevated by the greenery Rest rooms are not available, not many food options nearby. Parking space is ample.

It was absolutely mesmerizing experience. Visited the place after 2 years and to my surprise, it has been entirely resurrected. I had lost hope 😔 during last visit. But now the scene is much different. Really appreciate the efforts to make it more lively. Lots of monkeys — keep eatables hidden away and don't bring loose small bags.

It's a very old tree and very big. Good place to hang out and rest for an hour or so. There are benches to sit and relax. The place is clean and there are some shops outside for tea and other things. Don't expect too much and you would like the place. Entry is free and no parking charges either. There were no specific timings mentioned.

It's a good place to go and relax ..you shouldn't be in a hurry. Not a big place but has a widely spread banyan roots.. the stem of this tree got dried off and died long ago..now it's the roots of the tree that's spread across the place which appears to be different trees! Good place for a quick visit.????

The tree is huge and it is wonderful to see a tree that old. The main tree died few years back and all what you can see now is the it's branches grown into many more trees. Nature is so surprising. But not much to do here, except few benches which are also very limited. This can be developed into a full fledged park actually.

Big Banyan Tree , as the local name stands for ; it is few hundred years old and is a treasure for botanists to study. Tourists from Bangalore and Mysore throng the place alike. The place offers ample parking spot , local restaurants (not good hotels at this point) and bakery shops along with street food options like seasonal fruits etc. May want to visit in broad sunlight or at least between Dawn to dusk .

Please remove the pavement! :(( Please include the entire tree in the compound! This no longer looks like one tree anymore. They have built cement pathways in between that have completed ruined it. Nothing can take away from the fact that it now looks like a garden with 15 to 20 trees. If it has to go back to looking like what it originally did, then remove all the footpaths running through the middle of the tree, make the entire ground surface continuous mud so you sense the actual size of it. Otherwise you are cementing the breakup of this banyan tree into seperate units! I'm horrified after last coming here in the late 1990's. Also why is part of this tree now outside the main metal perimeter fence? Who's land has a part of this tree now become???

The Big Banyan Tree in Bangalore is the fourth largest in our country and it is a must visit spot. Experiencing this still-growing Banyan tree which is over 400 years old gives one a lot of perspective into our natural heritage. It's a little sad that people still continue to litter the space and carve random nonsense on the trunks but overall it is well maintained. The Manchanbelle Reservoir is not too far (11 km) from here so you can plan for both as a short one day trip. There's also several nurseries on the way at which you can stop if you've got a green thumb.

It's a very simple place. Many told me not to visit, not worthy to travel so long way. But I wanted to visit this 400 yrs old tree. They say the main trunk of the tree us no more exists but the roots have grown to as other several trees. I liked the place for many reason even though nothing great was there. I liked for its location, when you travel to this place you will come across of beautiful road with sceneries and serenity. Second you will have a nice drive with friends or family. Awesome location for photography, you will find nature there, simple locality. And few famous movie scenes are also recorded there. So anyone who is NOT looking for something great architectural or huge wildlife or a stiff mountain with waterfall or so BUT looking for historical, simple and a nice drive can visit.

This is a small park in a village. It has few Banyan trees among which one is very big and its roots are grounded to the soil. Enjoyable park with family and kids. Kids will be excited to see the big trees . There are few benches to sit and relax. A drive to this place during weekends is a great get away spot. Only drawback is there are many monkeys which tend to disturb us. The monkeys are dangerous sometimes because they try to get some food to eat. Better to avoid any kind of things you carry. Visit empty handed. Never entertain them as they might get attracted and if you to drive them away , they might attack us back . We experienced the same hence am keeping you all informed ahead. I wish they could take care of these monkeys. Try not to entertain them by giving any food or kids trying to look at them or get excited and look at them , these things should be avoided. We couldn't enjoy much because of the monkeys . We couldn't spend more time as kids were getting scared, they couldn't play because of monkeys . Otherwise a must visit place .

Nice place to visit at leisure. While the main tree is dead, the supporting roots have turned into trees. Being 400 years old, this is the fourth largest Banyan tree in India. Plenty of benches to sit. Fairly clean surroundings. Has a Shiva temple in its midst. Number of hotels surround this place. Caution for monkeys. They will generally leave you alone. On main road. Parking lot is available. However, most park on the road. Plenty of plant nurseries on the way.

One can spend 1-3 hours here and there are monkeys around, make sure you don't carry food inside, its anyways not allowed inside. Its quite a distance from Bangalore but worth visiting away from the city hustle. There is a winery nearby and few eateries, nothing much for the munching.

Amazing place to visit. The original, 400 year old banyan tree, is dead, but it's many branches are alive and well. The department of Horticulture has provided supports for several horizontal branches. They have built a temple where the original tree existed. It's better to find the park timing before heading out.

Perfect place to go for a long drive (Bulleteering) from Bengaluru. Great roads. Only 30 odd kilometres from Bengaluru city. Great to unwind from the stressful chaos of day to day life. Relax and sit under the vast and ancient Banyantree, listening to the cooing of cookoos, chirping of birds, watching squirrels playfully scooting around and feeling the cool breeze on your face. I read a few chapters from an ‘Agatha Christie’ classic. Had some snacks (there are lots of shops and eateries near the entrance gate). Watched idley the locals going about their daily chores(you can see the road circling the park). Overall a perfect afternoon. NB: do not forget to take some mosquito repellent 😜

Be careful, don't give them any eatables as they will follow you for more. You can spend 30 minutes - 1 hour at this place. There's also a small muneshwara swamy temple inside the park. Good place to spend some time but not recommended if you are travelling from very far just to visit this one place.

ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಲದ ಮರ or The Big Baniyan Tree is one of the oldest and largest trees you can find. The place is kept well. The TREE though is loosing it's old branches. Concerned authorities should put adequate efforts in maintaining the health of the tree. The tree was much healthier when we visited the site 15 years earlier. Although the compound wall protects the tree, it constraints the ever expanding trees area. In some areas the tree has grown outside of the Compound wall !!! Nice place overall. Staff was seen nurturing the new roots. Authorities... Kindly bring some experts to save the old parts of the tree. It's a request 🙏

This place is around 40 KM from Bangalore. It's basically a tree garden that covers 2 acres. Trees are 400 years old as per wikipedia. It's a nice place to visit in weekends but there is no more things and to see. If you are nature then only visit and you may feel bore as only tree can be seen here. It's a nice place for photo shoot but not great. You can visit once only if you have no other options.

Place need more attention and care. There is no parking facility, you need to park on road side. The only highlight here is 400year old banyan tree and good amount of monkeys(they are well behaved, don't disturb humans). Other than this, there is nothing much to see. A peaceful place to spend evening in calm environment. But definitely not the kind of 'must visit' place in Bengaluru.

Well, maintain like a small park. It's a good place to go and relax ..you shouldn't be in a hurry. Not a big place but has a widely spread banyan roots. A calm and peaceful place. You can go with your family and friends.

The big banyan tree is approximately 400 years old. The single tree covers more than 2 acres of land. There are lot of monkeys over here, so be careful. There is a temple at the center of this place. The place needs to be well maintained.

While the place itself is alright, it is surrounded by trash and burning garbage. It's a long way to go for a 2 minute look-see. Also, plenty of monkeys, so be aware about food as they will snatch. There are also set hours, so check first before going. Not worth the drive personally, but it is a beautiful tree to behold.

It was nice to see the fourth largest Banyan tree of India. Had this, place been in USA, they would have marketed it in a big way. Stickers, Magnets &mementos of the tree would have been sold in well decorated kiosks! Plenty of monkeys there. So don't think of carrying your food there with the hope of having a picnic. The vegetarian hotel opposite gate serves reasonably good food.

Dodda Aalada Mara or Big Banyan tree is a giant tree located 50 kms away from our Bangalore and is a tourist place. This tree is 400 year old tree - the main tree isn't there anymore but it's roots and branches have outgrown covering over 3 acres land and it's that BIG! There is metro + bus connectivity to and from Kengeri if you are using public transport. The tree itself is a sight to behold. The entry is free and the place is well maintained. Home to monkeys, birds, squirrels. There isn't much to do around but if you are looking for calm, peace, solace in nature then you could visit this place and enjoy this 400 year old beauty

Dodda Aalada Maraa or Big Banyan Tree is a nice getaway from Bangalore city's hustle bustle.. although, the highway adjoining the big Banyan tree doesn't quite let onw forget about city traffic. Nevertheless, it's a nice place to spend a few hours under the beautiful and intricate big branches, there are benches to rest and admire nature at its best.. the sheer magnitude of these trees is a wonder in itself. If you are planning to drive to this place, pack some water and food, of course don't litter and dirty the space. There are a lot of nurseries along the highway and if you are have green fingers, you must stop by these nurseries and pick up plants.. prices here are way cheaper than the city nurseries and plenty to choose from as well!! About 10 kms further from the Big Banyan Tree is Manchabele Dam where the river arakavathy flows. The drive is slightly through meandering roads but most of the distance is well paved. You have to go through a few small villages. There are unpaved roads where one can get down into the water, however, during monsoon season, the sluice gates are usually open and water does flow in high spate. It is advisable to not let children unattended as the river gets very slippery and deep within a few feet of entering it. One can stop at a few places and get a good view of the dam, although, no one is allowed near it and the gates to enter are closed and entry restricted. Ther ISRO Deep Space Network station is also on the way..and one can see a big dish antenna pointed towards the sky! Overall, the whole drive can be a fun one.. lots to see ans learn.

India's 6th largest tree, it is spread over a big park. It has a 400 year old history. It has good bus connectivity, so no problem with transport. we spent around 30 mins in the park. There's also a small muneshwara temple in there. It is a good place to spend maximum 1 hour. There are several small restaurants nearby, that i don't recommend to family. Better to eat inside the city

More than 500 years old Banyan Tree 🌳. What a huge tree! The process of such growth is really interesting. The branches of the tree touches the ground in nearly 50-60 years, penetrates ground, and within next 5 years those branches turn into trunks, they grow new branches, again in next 50-60 years those branches touch the ground and penetrate it... The cycle continues for centuries and as a result we have a very huge Banyan tree spreaded in nearly 600 meters area! God is great and His such creations are amazing! Must visit, see it and believe it!

Great historical place, tree is around 400+ years old. Dodda Aalada mara is nothing but Big Banyan Tree in English. It's a good tourist place specially for kids. I would say it's a one time visit, no entry fees to see the park. It's spread across 10k sq mt park and has 1300 hanging roots. Lots of moneys around the place.

It's very beautiful place, must visit this place because it's very oldest, largest and most famous banyan tree in the world. So as it is becoming very very old the chances of falling is starting in two places the branches has broken. But the best family outing place. It's very clean, i have never seen a tourist places so clean. They have preserved the tree branches by putting metal support at many places. That's really great to give support to the tree which is growing old.

It used to be a calm place ages back.. not a major central portion of the tree has fallen due to age.. it's still a beautiful park like feeling... A lot of monkeys , so be careful about your belongings and food. There are benches inside where you can sit. Parking is on the road.

It’s really big Baniyan Tree. But saddens me that the tree is losing its charm. Had visited this places couple of years ago. But there is a lot of difference between what I saw that time and now. Some part of the tree is not even there and some part has been rotting. A good amount of walking space is made for the visitors now, which was not there earlier. Over all a good weekend spot.

Could see only monkeys and langurs hanging on vines. Can see earlier times people have engraved their names on the tree and it's grown big and wide. No place to eat here though.

Nice nearby place to visit for Bangaloreans. It takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to visit the Banyan tree including taking photos. Rest rooms are available only in the near by government bar and it is not yet made ready inside the premises. No fee to visit this place. Parking is on the road side and there are few restaurants near by. There is also a Manchanabele Dam and water falls to drive in 19 minute.

400 yr old majestic banyan tree is a sight to behold. While the area is designed well to sit and rest for a while, the tree is losing its lustre due to pollution. Also the main stem was destroyed and just the roots remain. Yet a nice place to just drop by. Also there are many nurseries en route where you can stroll and enjoy rare plants. The rates are also very affordable.

Disclaimer: Don't expect a lot from the place. It has only a banyan tree and a small park-like place to walk around and relax. The tree is majestic and maintained well. But the area has nothing much to do. It's just a "one-time visit" place.

A very Oldest Big banyan tree only. Clean maintenance has been done and I don't know why they are restricted to allow all the sides even paths are made and entry at 10am. Might be another time that may give access to all the places.. You'll see near the circle itself.

Weekend/Weekday Visit: Weekday visit. No waiting time. 2-Wheeler Parking: Available 4-Wheeler Parking: Available Ample Parking: Yes Entry Ticket: No Cleanliness: Maintained It is very old tree and definately efforts are being taken to maintain the place. Lots of monkeys, therefore be careful with your belongings. It is a good place to take a walk and seat sometime on the benches. Serene environment. Though the area is spread across in acres but they have put boundaries and closed some area. There is a small temple in the middle. A must visit place for nature lovers. Rest rooms are not available. Very few roadside eating options are available (mainly corn).

Visit only If you love nature. Don't expect anything more nearby. Its all the Mystique of how a Banyan tree grows creating new roots and increasing its territory. A well maintained place with lot of peace and calmness. (and some monkeys🐒)

Amazing property. They have a decent sized swimming pool, more than enough area to play cricket and other games. 3 rooms and 1 dorm with 6 double beds. Easily 20 people can accommodate here and enjoy to the fullest. One of the best weekend getaways from Bangalore which isn't too expensive.

It's a historical big banayan tree spread across almost 2 acres of land and still spreading its branches. Most of the parts are now conserved with fences to save it from people. It's a peaceful place to spend 15 to 20 min. Do observe the tree branches and roots tells the stories of struggle it went through over a few hundred years. Very well maintained and conservation is on the right track, requires some more info not just at the entrance but around the place, depicting the importance of the banyan tree and its own eco system. No dedicated parking space, need to park near the bus stop.
