We decided to walk from the end of the trail of dragon’s back to big wave bay. I wouldn’t recommend doing this since there isn’t a pedestrian path so you have to walk directly on the road which isn’t very safe (there are vehicles going by pretty frequently and the drive fast). I would recommend taking the number 9 bus instead which is quick and painless (we did this for the return journey and were glad we did). Big wave bay is beautiful even on a dreary january afternoon. There were a bunch of surfers riding the waves even though it was pretty cool outside. There are a few shops around the beach so we sat nearby with a beer enjoying the sea air. There is also a trail going up at the other side of the beach which you can hike if you’re looking for a beautiful view of the bay.

THE best beach in all of Hong Kong . Hands down. Don’t miss the hiking trail that goes up to the top of the viewpoint !

Excellent beach with very beautiful views and mountains around it. The waves are quite big as hinted in the name, and very fun to go as a family especially with kids. Big Wave Bay is also extremely clean, and there is really little trash and sharp objects on the sand. But sometimes it can be really busy, so that's that's I took away 1 star. Pick the right day to go, and you'll enjoy it!

Great place to be with not so many people, but well maintained and a lot of services available. You can find your own space or climb a bit higher to have nice views on the bay

Great little beach for all your surfing adventures. There are several shops nearby where you can rent/buy all the surfing gear and other beach accessories. Changing facilities and toilets are clean and moderately well maintained. Also, there are a few low-key restaurants nearby selling primarily Chinese and Thai food. A few Western and Vegetarian options available too.

The west side of the beach along the rocky shore seems to be the surfers playground. For the novice, the sandy main beach offer excellent practice ground. There are several rental places that rent surf board, and flippers.

I came here again on Sept 13, 2022 and parked in a metered. There’re surfers, but I could swim along the buoy line to the outer limit of the swimming area. The bay’s waves were big when compared with other Hong Kong beaches.

A fun beach with lots of surf boards for rent. Any day is good to try but slightly windy would provide bigger waves. Very shallow water that goes gradually deeper. Clean sand. Washrooms, change rooms and showers are very decent.

Fun end to to the Dragons Back hike. Easy access, good facilities (showers, bathrooms). A couple of restaurants in the area and shops. Lots of surfers. When we were there we were the only two people swimming, everyone else was in a wet suit with a surfboard. Kind of felt like we were going to get hit by one but we still enjoyed the time. Definitely on the smaller side and the water had some trash in it but again, was a great end to the hike. Bus stop right near by, only a 5-7 minute walk.

Great for beginner whitewater surfers. Water is mostly polluted. You can rent a board and locker for few hk bucks. Not a greatest place on earth but we all glad to have it here.

Really nice beach, one of the best I've been to on the island. Not too crowded, very clear water(in August), and good views.

Small town with a couple of snack shops is very quaint, the beach is small but the sand is nice. Either get the #9 bus here or one of the express mini buses either are a good way to travel.
