Nice trail, saw tons and tons of monkeys. Not the most phenomenal views or anything, but decent. Not flat, but not a strenuous hike.

The Maclehose trail, named after governor Maclehose has many sections. They vary in difficulty, but are all wonderful hikes.

Beautiful views from the top. In one direction, look over Kowloon, Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. In the other direction, Shatin and the New Territories. 4km circular walk with some steps and climbing but suitable for families with young kids (but not pushchairs). Also makes quite a nice dog walk. Lots of monkeys so avoid showing them your snacks. Very convenient bus access from Kowloon or Tai Wai. Metered car park near the entrance to the country park.

Easy trail, great for the whole family. The views are a balance of nature and the city. You'll get to see monkeys, too.

The most challenging and beautiful hiking trail in Hong Kong which covers 100 kilometers from the far ends of New Territories East to West. The design is very flexible that you can complete the trails in more than one go. The whole trail is divided into ten sections with various level of difficulties. There are many intersection points which are easily accessible by public transportation. When enjoy hiking, please be reminded for environmental friendly and don't leave any trash along the trail. There are rubbish collection points at the intersections points of every sections.

I loved this hike! Long hike but it was entertaining hearing the bushes shake as Monkeys random jump out to greet you! Was a great view of greenary that we take for granted in the modern city such as Hong Kong

Use the rest room just before you start taking the stairs (stage 8) after that it got tougher and restrooms were harder to come by. Take your time and enjoy the route. Well worth it.

πŸ‘ Formed by the vertical erosion of Shing Mun River which WAS a large river before building the Shing Mun Reservoir. The deep gorge we see now is too deep for the small discharge. A misfit.
