Can't review the restaurant and the hotel separately, but they are both amazing and get 5 stars each! The hotel is very comfortable. It's clean and spacious, and they're welcoming of pets. Aggie and Gus Gus had a great time. Love that there's a cafetiere in the room. The restaurant (where breakfast is included) is amazing too. We had dinner there, and it was delicious and quite reasonable. The breakfast was superb too! Lots of choice and prepared fresh and hot!

Popped in on the off chance half way through a long journey - it happened to be fathers day so the place was packed. We asked if we could eat and they managed to fit us in and promptly delivered two perfectly cooked roast chicken dinners - great! Lovely food, accommodating and cheerful staff on what was one of their busiest days - excellent!

Great rooms (in a courtyard behind the Inn). Very helpful and welcoming staff. Decent restaurant (we had an excellent Sunday lunch), with good portion sizes. Run very much as a restaurant with rooms, rather than a pub with rooms - on a Sunday evening there didn't appear to be anyone visiting apart from diners. Only drawback is also a significant advantage - its located alongside a major road, less than a mile from junction 18 of the M4. So very easy to get to, but a bit noisy with traffic. Overall, recommended.

Booked in here for Sunday dinner, hadn't realised that the Sunday menu was different and dominated by traditional Sunday Roast. Wouldn't have been my first choice but it was nevertheless very good. Was a little surprised by the cost of wine "by the glass" when I got the bill, but the service was good as was the general ambience.

Had a brilliant stay - the rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. We had Sunday lunch at the Crown which was delicious, and breakfast was just as good. The staff are all helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again in the future

We have just stayed for 2 nights with our dogs. Kristie, Kamal, Aimee and their team couldn’t have been more helpful in welcoming us and making our stay an enjoyable one. The food was good with plenty of choice especially the breakfast. The only comment we would make was there was no small fridge in the room but other than that it was a lovely cozy room and a very comfortable bed. We shall definitely return again. Thank you.

Upon arrival we checked in, friendly staff member, helpful. We requested rooms together, adjoining rooms would have been ideal but it worked out fine. Unfortunately there was no hot water available, a sign on the sink stated run tap for 10 minutes for hot water. Unfortunately our rooms continued to have no hot water, we requested help from staff, this was resolved by re lighting the pilot light in the boiler. The rooms had wear and tear and was due refurbishment after summer I was told. It would have been ideal to complete in time for the summer season. The following day we woke to find no hot water again, breakfast and our evening meal the previous day was lovely with a selection to suit most people. While having breakfast other guests were over heard complaining about no hot water. It was explained that the engineer had been called but they’d had previous issues recently. Staff friendly and helpful.

Myself, my family and my bridesmaids stayed at the Crown Inn the night before my wedding. We booked a table of 12 for dinner and the food was fantastic. The service throughout was top notch and the staff were super friendly. They even gave me a little bottle of a prosecco to congratulate me which was a lovely touch. I would highly recommend staying at the Crown Inn and I will definitely be returning in the future!

Very nice hotel at an excellent location for the Spartan Race South West. Staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating to every extra wish I had. Special thanks to Kamil, keep being the excellent host you are! :)

The staff (and especially the Manager and Aimee) were incredibly helpful and thoughtful of our needs. The accommodation was all we could have asked for, and the food delicious. Don’t let go of that chef!! We stayed six nights, so would have appreciated a change of evening menu, but you can’t have everything. I would most certainly return.

Came here for a Friday date night dinner, easy to find, plenty of parking. Service was great, everyone was welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, proper country pub vibes with the fire place roaring away. We had 2 courses, starters were lovely, perfect amount of food! Mains were so tasty we had the pie & mash and the venison faggots, both were really good, top quality food and presentation was also a bonus! We already plan on coming back here for another dinner!

We were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights at this fabulous pub. Everything from the room to the food and staff were absolutely brilliant. It was easy to get to and convenient for many great places to visit. The evening menu was very reasonably priced and the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it just for the hospitality alone. Many thanks to all the staff for such a lovely stay.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic pub, and I can't express enough how wonderful the experience was. The delicious food was undoubtedly a highlight, but what truly made the evening exceptional was our extraordinary waitress, Ruby. From the moment we walked in, Ruby's warm and welcoming demeanor set the tone for the entire night. She exudes a passion for her job that is truly infectious. Her extensive knowledge of the menu and her ability to recommend the perfect dishes and drinks made our dining experience exceptional. Ruby is not just a server; she's a true food and beverage connoisseur. The food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and made with evident care and skill in the kitchen. The culinary team here knows their craft, and it shines through in every bite. From appetizers to dessert, everything was outstanding. What truly stood out was Ruby's attentiveness throughout our meal. She made sure we were well taken care of, and her friendly personality brightened our evening. Ruby's genuine interest in our dining experience and her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction were remarkable. She is a true asset to this pub. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough, and I give all the credit to Ruby for making our visit so special. If you're looking for delicious food and outstanding service, this pub is the place to be. Ruby, you are a shining star, and I can't wait to return and have another memorable dining experience thanks to you. Thank you for making our night exceptional!

Recently refurbished and in excellent order. The room was cosy, clean and had some really nice touches to make it feel personal. The food in the bar/restaurant was awesome; plenty of it and really tasty, excellent value. A special shout out to Camille who was front of house and who couldn't do enough for us while we were there; friendly, accommodating and generally made us feel very comfortable. A hidden Gem is the Crown Inn!

We drove past on Friday lunchtime and popped in on the off chance of a bite to eat. The lady that greeted us was the happiest and most welcoming that we’ve been served by in a long time. Wonderful food and the service was the best we’ve had in ages. Thank you so much

Came by this by accident. We were heading home and stopped a pub along the wat for breakfast. It was amazing, the food lovely, staff very friendly. Place was so clean and I was very impressed with how shiny the cutlery was!

Great stop off for us on our way down to Cornwall. Rooms a good size, comfortable beds, staff very friendly and food tasty. Plus a decent selection of zero alcohol drinks for the minimal drinkers like me! Will return.

Stayed for one night. Room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Dinner was wonderful, we had the rump steak and crab and prawn linguini, both very tasty. The staff were very friendly and quick service. Great beer too. Breakfast was also great. Very friendly landlord. We absolutely 100% recommend a stay or a meal here and we'll be stopping by as soon as we can.

The people who all work and run this place are the best. They’re friendly, upbeat, funny and kind and really made our stay. The food was great, delicious big breakfasts. The location was great for us walking The Cotswold Way. The only suggestion would be for better bedding and softer pillows. My friends had no complaints so maybe it was just me. Overall though, would absolutely book again (and just ask next time about a pillow as I’m sure they would have changed it).

We stayed here for three nights to travel to Bristol and Bath. We found the room very comfortable and had everything we needed. All the staff were wonderful and genuinely lovely and welcoming. We enjoyed the cooked breakfast and we ate in the restaurant only one night but thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. We had our dog with us so our accommodation was located at the back of the pub, we could park close to our room so this was great for us.

Absolutely wonderful stay! All 8 of us were extremely happy with the service. The staff were lovely, and so helpful and great with the dogs! The rooms were lovely and nothing was too much for the staff. 11/10 definitely recommend ❤️

A great pub - thoroughly recommend. The staff are extremely friendly and really make the stay. Food also exceeded our expectations. A real gem! Perfect for people travelling up or down the M4.

Rooms are in a courtyard outside of the pub, which means they are quiet. They're a bit tired, but having refurb soon. Silly things let it down, like cobwebs and no fresh towels on day 2 or bed made :( but overall it was adequate & comfy. Pub was great & staff were extremely helpful. Food was good, but not a huge choice. A bit of presentation wouldn't go amiss, like a garnish on the plate, but it was all very tasty and reasonably priced. From the picture we expected it to be in a village, but it is stand alone on a busy road, so nowhere for a wander. Great location for Park & Ride to Bath though. All in all, it served us well for the 2 nights we were there.

Stopped for lunch. Had two plates of very fresh looking and tasting food. Fish fingers and fish cakes. Excellent fries too. If anything the food could have had a tad more salt, but nice looking salt and pepper grinders are on the table. Staff was very friendly and attentive. The inn also carry some very good beers.

This is a pub I have passed many times before and thought it looked good. I actually visited tonight and I was not disappointed. Really good interior and atmosphere. The staff were lovely and attentive. My friend and I both ate the haddock and chips, excellent, lovely crispy chips and fish batter. Food was piping hot to the table. This is a Butcombe house with a good range of beers. Based on today's experience I would highly recommend a visit. Thank you and well done 👍 Enjoyed a second visit last night. All good confirming the above. Atmosphere, service, food and drink were all very good, well done.

Only called in for a quick throat dampener on the way home but loved this place. I'd no idea what I wanted to drink but with a few questions the barman quickly made me a truly refreshing drink. The surroundings were comfortable, the menu looked good and for those who've been travelling they have rooms to let. I'll definitely be back!!!😁

We stayed here recently for a family wedding near by. The rooms were spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. Nice quality bed linens too. Nice bathrooms. The restaurant served delicious food with lots of options. Breakfast was fantastic with many healthy Choices as well a traditional English option. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. We felt very welcome!

This was last minute for us on our last night before returning to Australia. Staff were wonderful and welcoming and we really enjoyed dinner. Some different but excellent choices on the menu. We all had a great breakfast. Our room was perfect. Kingsize bed, lovely linens and towels, excellent hot walk in shower. Thank you for a lovely stay and we would highly recommend.

Excellent stay lovely clean rooms, very friendly accommodating staff especially Amiee who went above and beyond. Great breakfast menu but would have liked more choices on the dinner/evening menu, few more traditional meals would be preferred. The food was very tasty and well cooked, great wine and beers. Management were very friendly and professional. The fire alarm went off during our stay in the night and within minutes the manager was outside the accommodation. He made sure all rooms were vacated, checked thoroughly for the reason the alarm went off and that everyone was ok. Thankfully it was a false alarm. Would highly recommend staying here and would like to thank the management and staff for a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely find on way to Bath. Attentive staff, nice atmosphere and great food. It was great to see menu, with not only main lunches but also light lunches. Perfect. Allotment wrap was gorgeous, as was soup and sandwich.

Everything a pub and place to stay should be. Staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. Butcombe beers excellent as always! The food offering very good on the dinner and breakfast front. Always a good sign when the ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. Definitely worth checking out.
