As a Welsh man visiting this lovely area, me and my girlfriend decided to stop into this cosy looking little cafe, despite the fact they were due to close, we were warmly welcomed and invited to order food if wanted, which we did, we were quickly served and the food was delicious, even though still there beyond closing time, we were in no way rushed and the staff were very pleasant and friendly. Thank you.

Now under new ownership and different chef but as I love the front of house girls who are always so welcoming and friendly had to give it ago. Menu hasn't changed but sight different take on previous chef. I had avacardo brunch which used to be on sour dough toast now on a naval which was equally as nice ... Possibly slightly bigger in size and quantity. Chuck's of avacardo instead of mashed on toast. coffee came with an additional spoonful of smarties which was lovely. Overall very much impressed with upkeep of standards and quality to taste

Quite small, but they do have a back area with additional seating, if the weather allows. Food is great and they even offer take away. Coffee is good and with quite a large selection of other hot drinks. Dog friendly. Consider making a reservation as it gets full very fast.

Lovely coffee shop with excellent breakfasts. I have been here several times now and the staff are always really welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts have been fantastic, lots of variety on the menu and very tasty. Would recommend to anyone in the local area.

Was just passing through and needed a coffee hit. The coffee was nice and the girls were super friendly. Doggie friendly and z nice courtyard out back. I didn't try any food, but looking at all the customers eating, the food probably would get the thumbs up. Next time I'll try out their menu. Parking can be found anywhere in front of the cafe

I came here for a quick coffee and ended up having a bite to eat. The whole experience was great. It’s quite little inside so feels nice and cosy, especially on a wet and cold day. The food was tasty, with good portions and reasonable priced. The crockery was really cute and the staff were all super friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Family run with delicious Homemade excellent quality food all round , always a good and diverse selection plus the lovely cakes. Quick friendly Table and Takeaway service, very accommodating. You can phone ahead your takeaway order. Often get lunch here, and some Saturdays we drop in with our Grandson for our lunch, and his Children's Lunch Box ! He loves sitting in the alcove. So do we, as its nice and cosy . Plus we can watch out for the Phantom Toast Thief ! (Has CSI Chipping Sodbury been alerted of this heinous "alleged" act.)

Very welcoming team. Good coffee and tasty flapjack served at the table (much nicer than having to wait at the end of the counter like in some other coffee shops).

Very busy small cafe. Full inside but some space out the back - outside but under a nice awning. Heater near the centre of the space but warming effect falling off quickly with distance. Menu available and a reasonable number of cake slices and bars. (I couldn't tell if it was a small choice of things left or a sampler of what was plentifully available behind the scenes). I had a nice ginger slice cake a friend had to abandon the wish for scrambled eggs on toast as it would have been 30 min wait. A lovely toasted teacakes was the replacement that let us get back on our bikes and heading home

Lovely lunch today. Ordered the tuna baguette...fresh and yummy. Nice little courtyard out the back. Dogs welcomed 🐕. Our little dog sat quite happily. They even bought out a doggy bowl of water for her...Will visit again if I'm out this way again. Parking on the roads outside for 2 hrs free👍.

1st time there in a party of 5 meeting there because of its central location between Stroud and Bristol. Unusual to offer only breakfast till about 12 and then lunch till about 2 pm when it closes. Anyway the lunch menu had many delicious dishes all well presented. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Great find for a cafe.

What a find. Fabulous lunch menu. Only went in for coffee and ended up with delicious jacket potato with hummus, red pepper and pesto filling. Unusual, creative and incredibly tasty. Brilliant service from all staff and great coffee too. Well done guys. Top marks.

My favourite local breakfast place by a mile! My partner and I rarely go anywhere else, it has everything you want from a cafe, friendly staff, great food and nice general atmosphere. I've been to this cafe at least 20 times and it never disappoints! If you've never tried it out, I really would encourage you to go for it!

I visited here for the first time this week. Service was superb, friendly and helpful and there was a delicious range of cakes on display. The breakfast menu was excellent and the food delicious. Prices were good, the place was very relaxed and we had a lovely time. Delicious coffee too!

Very disappointing. Got a slice of gooseberry cake, tasted of literally nothing. Piece was so tiny I felt almost like eating a biscuit, I imagined it would at least be dense enough to compensate for it. brownie was okay but nothing special. For nearly £6 for a couple of slices it’s a massive rip off. Really wish we’d gone somewhere else and actually enjoyed a nice cake instead

Further to your comments, perhaps rather than being spam I was bored in work one afternoon and decided to rate a number of places I've been lucky to visit across the world. Unfortunately the patronising attitude I received when visiting because my daughter happened to be teething at the time appears to remain intact.

Had a breakfast here on a busy Sunday. There was a 45 minute wait on breakfasts but the friendly staff explained that this would be the case due to the business. The cooked breakfast was worth the wait, as did the xoffees.

We use this little independent coffee shop about once a month when in chipping sodbury very friendly small venue, nice coffee and hot chocolate, they serve a variety of meals though we haven't eaten there, advisable to reserve.

There was a weirdly unspoken sort of mania when we entered The Coffee Bean today. My partner initially misheard (the proprietor(?) - a middle-aged lady who was clearly holding the fort) the concerted efforts to beckon us deeper into the niche unoccupied ("for the next hour" anyhow) and it took all my muster to turn my party around (the in-law in tow, who is deafer than my better half, wasn't helping by acting as though he'd been cut adrift as we spun him round twice) and walk back into the "not cold". To be frank, there was no way I was going back into the street anyway - the noise of the clattering brass from the falling nether regions of all the monkies was too much for my precious pinnas to stand. Drinks ordered we sat in the snug and exchanged again words that allowed us to realise this place was so busy that ideally we should book in advance (for a coffee on the spur of the moment? I'll keep that in mind...) and allowed the picture of slow hysteria unroll itself before our eyes as we watched (mostly locals based on the exchanges witnessed) service occur. It's possible one member of staff shouldn't have even been there as he coughed (discreetly mind) but not discreetly enough to hide his respiratory tract infection whilst the rest did a passable impression of extras in Acorn Antiques. Perhaps I'm being unfair - it's clearly a bustling retail venture and I guess they're all a little worried about staying solvent in the current economic climate and I know only too well how hard good staff are to come by. My drink was great, my guests' both "lukewarm" but the toilet was quaint- I love these old buildings with ancient doors - you forget how sound-proof modern building techniques make a room! I don't sound like I'm painting a pretty picture of uk cafe culture but perhaps I read too much Bill Bryson. Heartily recommended - but don't forget to book your seats.

Brilliant place for breakfast and lunch. It is always tasty and great value for money. The main thing for me, though, is that the espressos are fab.

Love love love. Went there today with my 1 year old daughter and my Mum and it was such a good experience. The food was outstanding and all the staff went above and beyond to help with the two very chatty women in my life!! I've never been to Chipping Sodbury before and if I return I will definitely come back. Thank you for having us.

When you travel it can be hard to know if local eateries will be good or average. the Coffee Bean is new to us but proved to be an inspired choice. It has an interesting lunch/ brunch menu and a great selection of cabinet food. The service was prompt, although they did forget my tea cake. Once I pointed it out, they quickly corrected this. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We will certainly visit again if we are back this way.

We went to a pub on the High St first who seemed to feel my asking if the bread had dairy was a major inconvenience and why should they know! We went in to The Coffee Bean and we were met with an amazing friendly team a great little atmosphere and simply amazing customer service. My allergy was almost a pleasure for them to deal with. Such a great bunch of people with great food.. I would definately visit again..

Sat out in the courtyard, lovely, very cosy. So unexpected, a delight. Staff really welcoming and friendly, if you're in a hurry it may be the wrong place, this place needs time. A lovely sausage sarnie, 😋

Good coffee, great food and friendly people. Recently taken over by new owner with a simplification of the menu so fewer options than before. But very good quality nonetheless and they will adjust a menu option to your specific requirements if you ask - such as toast instead of bagel.

Great place for Ceoliacs or anyone following a Gluten Free diet. Had a range of quiches available which were very very tasty. Other GF options available and staff very knowledgeable about Gluten Free. Great service and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be visiting again.

This is a dog friendly cafe. The staff are very friendly and helpful, I am on a very low fibre hospital diet which is very difficult to keep to and very restrictive. The member of staff asked what I couldn't eat and went and spoke to the manager to get suggestions. Unfortunately there was only a plain scone with butter but it was very fresh and went really well with a milk shake. The cafe is only small but nothing is too much trouble.

  • 4/5 Kerri M. 7 years ago on Google
The food is absolutely brilliant, with all food items (that I am aware of) you get an extensive selection of salad to go with it. Thr prices arent expensive for the amount of food you get. However, seating is limited, there is an outdoor area, but this should only be used during the summer as it can get chilly.

Five of us went for a walk along Chipping Sodbury High Street. We strolled down the Left hand side, curled around the monument, turned right and finished by the Indian restaurant called The Megna (which I think was called the Sultan in another life) before crossing the road and starting to walk back in the opposite direction. At some stage we had to decide where to stop for brunch and I rather fancied the smells coming from the Coffee Bean, so we decided to go in. It's only a small place, but it deceptive. It has a little courtyard at the back with a few tables that were in the sun, so we chose one of those and made ourselves comfortable. It was a bit of a squash as we had to shuffle around. Some wanted to sit in the sun and some in shade but eventually we were settled. I went in and collected a few menu's from the counter and we were pleased with the options available. It seems everywhere and anywhere has Avocado on its menu in some shape or form and as long as it does, the Ladies will eat it. So, when our waiter arrived we ordered 3 x Avocado Brunches. “A Medley of Vine Tomatoes,Avocado with Chilli flakes ,Olive Oil and Lime juice on a toasted Bagel with a Poached egg”. Vegan friendly at £6.25 each. My brother in law who is not long out of hospital went for a Breakfast sandwich (£3.50) with Bacon (though you could also have had Sausage or egg). All the meat is supplied by Artingstall's the butchers about three shops up the high street, so it comes with a low carbon foot print and an audit trail. I couldn't resist the Large Full English (£9.95) and it was a great choice, if a bit expensive. Two rashers of Bacon nicely cooked, just slightly crisp. Two delicious and very meaty sausages all from Artingstall's. A slice of Black pudding (slightly under cooked but at least it wasn't deep fried). Two 'Free Range' Fried Eggs (there may have been an option to swap with poached)? A fresh tomato grilled and cooked right through not just warmed up on the outside. Real mushrooms cooked nicely. Mini hash browns that were crisp and not the least bit fatty. Baked beans in a small pot. Why in a pot? Plus two rounds of toast (choice of bread). My only complain was that the toast didn't come on a separate plate which always makes it easier to manage. We had a range of Tea's and Coffee's and my daughter even had her coffee made with Almond milk. (They do make an effort to cater for allergies such as Gluten intolerance). All in this was a really good find. The food was modern, using good quality ingredients locally sourced, cooked well and served by polite and friendly staff in a nice environment. What more could you ask for?
