A
necessary
stop
here,
because
it
was
on
the
Cask
Marque
Ale
Trail,
not
that
the
young
barman
knew
much
about
it.
This
seems
to
be
a
degree
of
dereliction
of
training
-
the
accreditation
is
not
easily
come
by
and
is
only
awarded
to
those
establishments
that
can
keep
all
the
Ales
on
sale
in
perfect
condition.
This
alone
needs
constant
cellar
work
and
there
is
the
twice
yearly
unannounced
inspections
to
endure.
Plus,
it
costs
-
so
not
to
have
front
of
house
staff
fully
conversant
with
the
scheme
does
sound
odd
Niether
was
he
ofay
with
the
house
wifi
facilities.
Part
of
the
CMAT
routine,
that
we
nerdy
types
who
try
to
attend
every
pub
'on
the
trail'
endeavour
to
do,
is
scan
the
Certificate
that
records
our
visit.
This,
in
most
cases,
as
it
was
here,
would
be
conveniently
placed
where
Smartphones
with
the
appropriate
App
downloaded
could
address.
A
good
wifi
signal
is
helpful
to
successfully
accomplish
this.
However,
despite
mine
hosts
lack
of
erudition,
I
managed
to
prevail.
As
for
the
beer
-
the
purpose
of
my
visit
and
not
to
relate
the
barmans
awareness'
-
the
choice
was
Butcombe
or
Butcombe.
I
chose
a
pint
of
Butcombe,
which
was
fully
deserving
the
Accreditation
awarded.
I
was
a
little
too
late
for
lunch,
which
was
not
long
cleared
away,
but
the
choices
advertised
were
a
lot
more
salubrious
than
what
I'd
consumed
a
mere
half
hour
earlier.
Another
more
timely
visit
will
be
required.
Very
nice
tiles
in
the
gents
loo
-
btw.
