The waiting staff were very polite and welcoming and did a good job of hosting customers. Service however, was quite slow, we waited about 35 minutes for our Sunday Lunch to arrive, which is fine if you are having a lazy Sunday. Perhaps the waiting time for the food is because it was clearly made with attention and each component cooked to perfection, crispy pork scratching, vegetables with the right amount of bite, and tasty gravy. I had the vegan mushroom and walnut strudel which seemed freshly made and was very tasty. My only complaint about the food itself, certainly the vegan dish was that there were only 3 small pieces of potato 1 small julienne of carrot and parsnip and 2 small Broccoli spears, as the vegan dish didn't come with any extra bits like Yorkshire pudding or stuffing it would have been great to have more vegetables; as it was I left feeling hungry. The other members of the party loved their roast and their portions seemed better, though again not much veg. For pudding we had Brownie, Mars Ice Cream Sundae and Crème Brulee which were all apparently delicious. The only vegan dessert option was sorbet or ice cream and for the price you only got one measly scoop so not really worth it, especially when compared to the other 'normal' desserts. So in summary very pleasant, however, increase the veg and perhaps give some more vegan options for dessert.

One of the best pub meals I have ever had. Stayed the night in the motorhome out the back. Thank you very much

Had a few drinks before dinner, nice cozy pub. Starters were lovely, we had the mushrooms on Bread and the bread with olives and oils. Mains were like Home cooked food, nice presentation, we tried the pork loin dish and the duck breast dish, we both never liked black pudding and it was in the mash, and both enjoyed it, really buttery and delicious. Cracking was perfect too. Staff were fabulous and very attentive.

Went for Sunday lunch as l saw a review for the steak night. New managers. Ordered roast turkey dinner and roast pork dinner. Was nicely cooked but not very hot. Waitresses came and asked if everything was ok so l told her yes but that forgot gravy and cauliflower cheese which came out hotter than rest of food, it was very nice. When paying mentioned it and the Waitress apologised as she was new and was still trying to remember what went with what. Will probably go again.

Oliver Twist asking for more. My family been using this Pub ever Xmas for the last ten years for a lunch time meal on Boxing Day . Always had a good meal and always value for money. WHAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food not up to the standard, good, but very poor portions, I went with a family party of 17, and this is the first time i have had to complain. The majority of the group agreed about the portions, when this was raised was told these were the lunch sizes that were served. Did get extra chips but for the price paid this should not have happened. I was told that the Caponata Paste was not of a high standard, also a ordered detailed Beef Burger was was not met. Its a shame that this lunch was a let down and unfortunately will not go again. However if you are looking for a diet meal plan and a high price, this pub is for you.

Acceptable for a Sunday lunch, the food was ok, the meat (beef) was a bit tough. The service was quite terrible, this isn't isolated just this place however the entire hospitality industry seems to be like this currently. The servers in here just had no charisma or seemingly interest. Missed items, gravy spilt on the table and just left, when mention a napkin was just placed over it.

Liked the menu and food tasted nice but, prices for what you get isn't good value at all. Drinks are City Centre prices and Chicken with Mushroom & Tarragon should be renamed Carrots & Green Beans as that's what makes up over 70% of the dish. I had less than a 1/5 of a small chicken breast a few greasy cubes of potatoes and two whole carrots and a small handful of green beans, all of which was completely covered/camouflaged by a salad type garnish. Had the impression that some of the staff wanted to go home early as they kept taking stuff from the table before we were even finished...won't go back and three stars is generous I feel...much better places close by

Me, my mum, sister and Nelly the dog came in on Friday afternoon for a meal. We were given a lovely dog friendly table at the front. It was a perfect country pub atmosphere and very welcoming. Everything we had was deeeliscious 👌and we will definitely be coming back here alot more in the future. A great choice for summer and winter I reckon. Highly recommend.

Visited on Wednesday for lunch. Staff very friendly and welcoming. There were plenty of choices on the menu & specials board. The food was v.nice & enjoyed by all 5 of us. My son is vegan & there were a couple of options on the menu. The chef was v.accommodating & without being asked offered to make a vegan crumble. Nice relaxed atmosphere, would definitely eat here again.

Under new management. Food was nice. Had beef roast. Was quite expensive for not a big meal. For 4 people meal drink and dessert just under £100. My veg was not warm enough and had it returned to reheat. Needed a lot more veg a couple of carrots and parsnips and 3 small potatoes plus a small bowl of cauliflower cheese to share not good enough. It looked well presented but I want it not ware it. Would I recommend probably not. Would I go back not to soon. In short disappointed. As I remember previous owners excellent food.

Another very good meal at the Rose & Crown this evening. The pub has had its ups and downs over the last few years, but all is well again!

Beautiful food. We had the mushroom and walnut strudel, which was just perfection – I wish I had chosen that! The chicken with mushroom and tarragon was just so flavoursome. It’s been a long time since I have eaten here and it just gets better and better. We came back a week later with my family, and likewise all the food was superb. The staff are so lovely and the pretty garden with alpacas is a blessing when you have a small child to entertain.

Visited as a party of 12. Great service, BUT....triple cooked chips they certainly weren't, flabby & soft. Someone had the duo of pork, the sticky pork cheek was a dried over cooked bullet, the chicken cacciatore was dry. Think a creme brulee was sent back. Room for improvement!

I visited midweek afternoon , sunny day and all I can say is excellent pub 👍..They serve great cider and it's poured by freindly cheerful staff .The back garden is superb ..Sun if you want it and shade too .⛱️...I cycled there but had to walk home due to consuming too much cider🍺🍺🍺🍺 🥺😊😄...I can only give four stars because I never got to taste the food 🍽️🥄 but I would imagine that would be good too...I need to visit again soon ... definitely 💯

Fantastic food! Great staff! Really friendly pub. Food was fast and tasted amazing. Had the lamb Sunday roast and the kids had fish fingers and chips. The staff were great with the kids and gave us colouring pencils and prints of the pubs alpacas to colour in and stick on the wall. All in all I would highly recommend!

I booked a table here for my family who were down to visit us in Bristol. It's a lovely welcoming family pub. The food was delicious and served quickly. The staff were fantastic with our little ones and provided crayons and colouring for them. We loved being seated next to the warm fireplace! A hidden gem, we will be back to visit in the future!

Nicely cooked food very tasty but the portions are so small. Served on a sandwich size plate rather than dinner plate. The chap who seated us as we were a walk in not booked treated us as a bit of inconvenience. The whole customer service staff could do with tweaking their hospitality skills. But clean and tidy and the food was very nice just small and far to expensive for the amount you get.

Me and my boyfriend came here whilst staying in a airbnb nearby and read the reviews so had high expectations. The atmosphere was nice and cosy in the pub which we enjoyed. The starters were very nice we ordered the garlic mushrooms and olives, bread and oils. We then ordered the chicken burger and sea bass for mains which was slightly disappointing; it was edible just not what I was expecting from all the great reviews. We had a lovely time but probably wouldn’t visit again. However the staff were very kind and attentive which is a bonus 🙂

A few rare visits but this place has never disappointed. Booking advised but not essential this is a nice sized pub with a choice of more relaxed pub lounge like seating or a more formal restaurant setting. Menu is the same in both but nice to have the choice. Menu is a combination of pub classics and some more specific choices. Also a set lunch menu that is great value for 2 or 3 courses and made up of a selection from the main menu. Also, alpacas in the garden (along with plenty of parking) which you can feed by buying a bag of their food for £1.

I had the joy of visiting The Rose and Crown for a Sunday roast. The pub was easy to locate and had loads of parking. Upon entering the parking area you may be greet by some alpacas! The pub had a nice and chill atmosphere and perfect for all ages. The staff members were wonderful and had fast service. The food was fantastic. I had the lamb leg roast and it was packed with veggies, stuffing, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding. All with gravy drizzled over. Best roast I've ever had 😫 I was totally full from the meal! For the 5 of us and including soft drinks it was under £100. Which is bargain considering how much we get!! I totally recommend visiting and making a reservation in advanced. Also - With the alpacas they have little bags for feeding for £1 but when we visited they were very uninterested 😂

Very disappointed after reading such great reviews. We were a table of 4 and had to wait over an hour for food.... Our food obviously stuck behind another larger tables order. The service was abismal and no updates on food times. Food was OK.... Nothing special.... My wife's medium rare steak came out well done... Garlic bread was anemic. The whole experience certainly didn't warrant the price and we won't be returning unfortunately.

We had a large family get together for a Sunday lunch and the staff at the Rose and Crown were brilliant at accommodating all of 16 of us at one table. Our food arrived at the same time, was hot, delicious and every order was perfect. The staff were so friendly - even though it was busy, we didn't have to wait for drinks and the table was cleared and then pudding arrived in good time. Everyone enjoyed the various options - the vegetarians were especially happy with their Sunday Roasts! Thank you to everyone there

Gorgeous food, wraps for lunch were delicious plenty of filling, they do small plate options too. They have lunch deals, the surroundings are old world and beautifully kept. Lovely log fires on a cold day just lovely!!

The terrible weather when we arrive to stay made the outside look a bit grey. Don't be put off. The inside is a typical pub AND the rooms are clean and of the homely style. Staff are excellent!

What a great place to eat, booked for 4 then increased to 6 last minute, despite being busy no problem at all, very friendly staff and all our meals were piping hot and very tasty, will be back very soon

Noisy with loads of kids, adequate but overpriced Sunday lunch. Bar prices are a bit steep, over £4 for a pint of Thatchers, £1.50 for a soda and lime.

We went to the Rose and Crown as a treat, we had a lovely meal but it was spoilt by the service as we were seated and served ok with the starters and main meals but as we were seated in a room off of the main dining area they never came back to ask if we'd like a dessert, so after about 45mins my partner went to see the waitress she came about 5mins later apologised for forgetting us, which i was not really happy with. On the way out paying the bill the manager said about it but his comment was ' The pubs main trade is drink and it's more important to him ? ' if that is the case ' Why sell food ' when that is where a lot of their profits come from. I will not be going back there soon even though the food was excellent.

Really good pub in a nice location. (Pucklechurch) Indoors and in the garden are so pleasant for a meal, snack or just a drink. Went there for our first outing having emerged from shielding. All organised and felt safe. Highly recommend.

Visited the Rose and Crown this evening as we have done many times over the years pre lockdown. The food was excellent, as was the service. There was no overcrowding, nothing at all to make you feel at risk, safely spaced out. However still retaining the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that it’s always had. Will definitely be back again soon and so glad it’s our local ❤️

Down Memory Lane. Used to come here when I lived locally. We were staying up here before flying out of Bristol airport, so decided to show my other half the area. He loves English pubs, bless him! It’s a nice ‘safe’ pub with decent food and friendly staff. Good to see little village pubs still thriving in the current economy. Probably won’t get to come back as it’s a long way for a glass of wine!!
