Excellent, highly recommend. Great atmosphere, locals all said hello. The 4 of us had curry, pasta, fish and chips and pie. All the food was well presented, well cooked and tasted great. We are going back again for a second night.

A fabulous country side bar, tucked away in the foot of the Cotswolds. Terrific team great beer garden and kids play area, real ale's and excellent food all served up with a warm welcome from the landlady & lord, as well as the lovely locals. This is a wonderful community owned pub.

I'd love to give this delightful pub 5 stars: lovely simple food, good portions, nice bar lady, good beer, log burner etc etc. We two walking women arrived at early lunch during our walk to find three separate men (two old, one youngish) in situ. Not one of them looked at us, said (or even nodded) hello, and the youngish man at the other end of our table gave off positive waves of negative vibes as he sat with ears plugged in at his laptop. I appreciate that he might have been working, but even the slightest acknowledgement of our presence would have been polite. So...'community' pub? Hmm. I can't say we felt welcome. Oh, and noone apart from the barmaid said (or nodded) goodbye either. A bit bloody miserable tbh.

Superb pub, excellent food (highly recommend the pies) . It's been recently taken over but the owners seem committed to the pub and village, and have added a great list of beers. We love visiting.

This is the kind of place which make it worth going to England (and walking Cotswold way). Good selection of beers, food is good and above all good vibe

I'm loathe to give a really bad review to what generally appears to be a good and well loved pub, so I've charitably awarded 2 stars to give them the benefit of doubt on the assumption this was an unusual occurrence. However, our group had a very poor experience here. The range of beers is excellent and the menu looked pretty good, so we had high hopes. We managed to book in on a Saturday evening and were told that it wasn't too busy, so they could accommodate us. Upon arrival we were seated and then left for around 40 minutes without anyone taking our order. I had to go to the bar to ask someone to come to our table. When the server did arrive, she told us that three of the 4 meals we'd ordered were unavailable. 2 of the second choice meals were unavailable. We selected alternatives and then some of those were also unavailble and we ended up on our fourth choices. At this point none of us were particularly keen to stay but at around 8:30pm on a Saturday we didn't think we'd find anywhere to go. Following this, the manager came to speak to us and one portion of one of our first choices had become available. I also negotiated a variation on one of the items on the menu, swapping sweet potato for chips with a brisket dish to make it more appealing as I particularly dislike sweet potato. At this point the manager made a rather unfair remark about the poor girl who had been repeatedly sent to tell us that the dishes we wanted had run out. She was young, clearly very nervous and put in an extremely difficult position dealing with people who had every right to be annoyed. We were conscious not to take it out on her however, as she wasn't too blame for the disconnect between kitchen and dining room staff. None of us thought this was fair and she was put in a very difficult position on a tough day, where they'd clearly had a significant run on food but neglected to inform people when taking orders. To their credit, the food was very good when it eventually turned up (if available try the brisket dishes) and we were offered free desserts as compensation for the inconvenience. In the circumstances we didn't fancy anything, so they agreed to waive the cost of our first round of drinks, which may or may not have been equivalent in value. I don't imagine for a second that our experience was typical, especially taking into account the other reviews that attracted us in the first place. It really does seem like a good pub. However, our unfortunate experience was so poor in terms of service that I'd hesitate to recommend it based on our 1 visit. I hope they do better in future because I like to support places like this as much as possible.

We just had Sunday lunch here today. Had a lovely time and some pretty dam decent food to. Only took two photos as we had already started 😬. As we have only just moved to the area we thought to give it a go, but now I think it will be a place we will frequent 😊

If you are curious to learn how many eggs you should eat in a day, I am happy to announce that it should be less than seven. I had eggs for breakfast (two scrambled) then drove to Bristol. I met my Dad and after visiting a historic tree (my dad is a bit like that) we stopped for lunch. "Ohh" , I said, "pickled eggs!" ... Obviously, they have four types so we ordered one of each. I expected others to tuck in, but I ended up eating at least two. Then I ordered ham and eggs. This was definitely a mistake. My son ordered one too. I ate my two eggs, the proceed to eat one of my sons. This is seven eggs. I am sure the pub was great, but I cannot really remember. I was egg blind. Apparently the garden was lovely, and the beers were great. 5 stars

Took my mother to The Fleece today for lunch, had a friendly welcome from the locals & Emma behind the bar. Excellent choice of food & drinks including some interesting beers. Service friendly & attentive. A lovely pub in a great countryside location, we hope to go back for the Sunday Lunch in the near future. Thank you.

Could actually do with engaging the users. No smile no conversation. The bar who was on before 5pm last Wednesday was a complete atmosphere hoover. I know the status of the pub and I worked there in the late 1980’s. More interested in the villager than passing trade

An evening with friends at this pub in the beautiful village of Hillesley... we had the fish and chips.. which was divine! And desserts were also delicious with lots of local produce ... my rhubarb was yummy. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Motorhomes are welcomed too, if you have a meal.

Food pretty sad, β€œgranary” bread for slightly stale brown bread a stretch. And didn’t have half the stuff it said it came with - but not told about this until after lunch was served. Nice pub garden.

We are visitors to this lovely part of the country and so, so lucky to come across this wonderful community pub in the small village of Hillesley. The range of beers was excellent; well kept and poured. Despite being very busy on Christmas Eve we visitors were made very welcome and the young staff could not have been more helpful. Big shout for the locally made pork pies too!

It was nice, very popular especially at lunchtime a Saturday. I wasn't overly taken by the lunch menu, no freshly made sarnies only rolls in cling film and they made crumbs everywhere.

We don't go to the Fleece Inn as often as we are able and today we were reminded why that's a crying shame. A simple lunch of hot pie, Salmon for M and Chicken w Ham for me, both came with new pots and salad. It was the ideal amount for lunch including the delicious chocolate hazelnut torte. An excellent meal on a warm sunny day.
