Sunday lunch at the White Horse was great. My nephew and I turned up on spec as it had been recommended to us. The staff were really helpful and we managed to get a table in the large garden at the rear of the pub. The roast tasted great and beef and lamb meals were really tender. Good Adnams ble on draught. Whilst sat at our table were were joined by a very friendly robin. We will definitely go back to the White Horse and book next time.

Great pub to go if you have dogs, very welcome with your dog's inside and outside in the garden, drinks are great and at a good price,I can't say about food as I didn't eat, but they was lot's in the restaurant part. Great place would recommend

Great food but awful portion sizes. For £25 I had the sea bass, tasted great but it’s one of those places that plates your food up all fancy and gives you hardly anything. My dad had the lamb £28! They give you two tiny chops with a slither of meat on. Cooked great though. The lady asked for my ID I just laughed at her as I didn’t have it. I had to pop into Fair banks chippy after as was starving.

Had the loveliest New Year’s Eve celebration with 8 friends. As usual, an excellent night. Food and service wonderful. Loved the magician (who was amazing), the music and dancing. Fireworks at midnight and a great atmosphere.

Another day another meeting in a pub followed by food and drink. I'm not complaining - this one was on the tab and picked up by one my professional affiliations so it would be churlish to do so. The place has a bit of an uplift since I last visited and the "event room" where we did our rattling is quite a decent space actually - I guess they're after christenings, bar mitzvahs, etc. which makes perfect business sense in this age of public house contractions - you can't prop all ale houses with the proceeds of Camra affiliates. Anyhow, perfectly decent service, decent fish and chips (not high end pub - just a decent range with a sort of burger-fronted mains list), well kept beer, decent range of gin (though that's not unusual now) and actually quite nice toilets. If you think that's a funny thing to mention then have a look at my review of the Highbury Vaults - I'm just saying. I can't possibly comment on value for money like I said because I wasn't paying but I'd certainly recommend it as small event venue but only if they sort out the lighting in the car park. I can't be the only one that's had a near miss with that left-hand stone gate post if the chunks missing from it are anything to go by.

This was the first time any of us had been here. We visited based on family and friends recommations and also read fantastic reviews on here. We weren't at all disappointed. The food was exceptional, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was excellent. Even though it was a Monday evening it was very busy so I'm glad we booked. The waitress overheard that it was our Mum's birthday so when our desserts were brought out, Mum's had a candle placed on the top, which she was thrilled about. All in all, a fantastic time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable evening for our Mum

Outstanding flavours for me. Delicious fish n chips and mushy peas. And the Guinness sticky toffee pudding was undoubtedly the best sticky toffee pud I’ve ever tried anywhere. Lovely cosy place as well and friendly staff. Look forward to returning to try the steak.

Just walked down to white horse for a meal , states on there web site food served from 12-5 on a Sunday . Told us at 3.30 if we haven’t booked a meal then there is no food available. Came last Sunday no problem this week obviously there is. Offered peanuts Pretty poor I think . Shan’t be walking down again .

I ordered two burgers, and i waited 45 minutes for them, hoping they would be good. They were both burned and overcooked, resulting in a dry burger. It's definitely not worth the food here, at least the burgers. I'm totally disappointed.

Poor management as they are more interested in making money rather than training there new members of staff. Have used this pub regularly for years, however we will not return

The food was amazing quality and the staff were extremely helpful to accomodate us as we had a punctured tyre and were broken down right outside the entrance.

Last visit was just for a quick drink in the fabulous garden at the end of the working day. Sun was shining, lovely experience. We have eaten here several times in the past (when able to get a table, they're very busy) and can thoroughly recommend it.

Kitchen close two hours before close. They don't warn you when they give you the menu.

Food was good without doubt as was the Sagres beer.Unfortunately did not like nor could understand how three dogs are allowed to freely roam the lounge/dining area whilst customers are eating.Dogs barking and rubbing up to tables.Won't be eating here again.Could be publicans idea of creating a homely atmosphere but its not healthy by my standards.

Lovely atmosphere. Fabulous food. Smelly, dirty toilets. Desperately needs a refurbishment. Considering size of pub, toilets need to be kept clean . Really hope kitchen isn't as bad. Best not go there because food is so good. Lovely staff as always. I wish they would sort out toilets and it would be 5* everything.

Fabulously delicious and perfectly cooked cod sat in pretty pub garden. Enjoyed an excellent chicken supreme when visted a couple of months ago. Staff are lovely too. We are lucky to have such a great pub on our doorstep

Went for a cream tea with my wife and daughter. Very well worth the money. Great choice of daintys on each platter. Sandwiches and cakes were lovely as was the warm quiche. The service was excellent and they could accommodate 3 different requirements of teas. The cream tea was so filling that we had to take some of it home. I would recommend this for a relaxing occasion.

We had our wedding reception in the barn, again amazing and welcoming staff. Attention to detail and food was amazing. Perfect setting and kept informed throughout the night. Recommend to anyone! Will be visiting soon our favourite local pub.

We recently had our wedding in The Barn at The White Horse and it was simply fantastic. From the beginning Lucy was on hand to answer any and all questions we had and ensure the day ran smoothly. All the staff are lovely and a particular shout out for Fraser for helping our photographer move the sofa across the terrace! All the guests are raving about the food and setting. Everything was just so lovely and we can't wait to go back for a meal.

Brought my children here to meet Santa and they loved it!. It's such a personal experience its brilliant. Not only that but The White Horse pub is warm and cozy, the perfect place to have a mulled cider or hot chocolate to Finnish off.

The BEST roast I have ever had! The veg was all delicious, fresh and flavourful. The Yorkshire pudding was the perfect balance between crunchy and soft in the middle. As a vegetarian, tasty roasts are hard to come by, but this was fantastic in every way. The cosy fire added to the experience and the service was great. I highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Lovely country pub feel. This is my goto place for Sunday lunch, but you'll probably need to book. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Never had a bad meal. Even when it's busy, service is very good.

We recently came to the White horse ,to celebrate our youngest daughters 21 birthday. We Weren't disappointed as it was a lovely evening, the food was very nice and the service from the staff was very good and welcoming . The atmosphere was good and I would say it looked like other guests were have a good time too. I must also say price wise we were pleased as we were expecting a bigger bill .

  • 4/5 Jade B. 7 months ago on Google
I went with a large group for a party, the staff left us alone throughout the evening only coming over to drop the food off and it was hard time getting their attention when we needed something! The atmosphere was happy but it was a very noisy environment so if this isn't you cup of tea I wouldn't go here. The food was amazing and definitely worth the price😁

Lovely food, lovely setting. Very slow service unfortunately. Fully accepting covid situation, waited approx hour for food. Would have been good if staff comunicated during this wait. Also ,toilets were awful. Corners needed cleaning and regular disinfecting. Doors were very grubby as was the sink. Only aware of 2 toilets in the bar, full bar ,and outside, didnt feel safe to use toilet .

Lovely pub, welcoming friendly staff. Wonderful gardens with different themed areas. Mediterranean, sunken garden, and an elevated area where food would have been served Al fresco in happier times. This is post lockdown. In the elevated area there is bark to walk in and steps down to the stream. Also a patio area with a large table and parasol, there are deckchairs also. A lovely place to sit outside. Toilets immaculate. With reminders on hand washing procedures. Certainly well worth a visit. Unlike our experience at the Golden Heart in Winterbourne Down. Well done White Horse ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Well organised for Covid regulations. The pizza was delicious, as was the Scotch egg & fries. Really nice terraced patio rear garden, with outside bar area. Friendly and helpful staff on hand too. Thanks for a lovely evening.

The food was terrible. I had chicken fajitas and the chicken was so overcooked/reheated that it was so dry I couldn’t eat it. It looked the same as a wooden chopping board that had been put in the dishwasher every day for a few years.
