Good experience visiting the place During summer, recommended to visit in the early hours At the entrance, you can hire a good guide who will explain the history -- highly recommended. You will have to pay entry fee of rs20 per person. This has been made online by scanning a QR code and then filling the form. There are guards who will assist you in this. Cafeteria is available inside for snacks and cooling off the heat with cold water or juice or butter milk 🥛 Do note: flying drone is restricted here. They will not allow you to carry it inside.

An excellent place and a historic heritage spot. The area of fort is large, hilly and beautiful. The view from the top most point is breath taking. steps are not easy to take. Remember to carry an umbrella or a hat with you while visiting this monument…Overall it was an amazing experience🤩🌅

Must visit place to know about history, given 5 star as everyone should visit this place once. More people if visit then popularity increases and government will spend more money to maintain it well. Big place to walk around so you need 2 to 3 hours to complete it. Local guide will be helpful. It has beautiful history and you need to virtually dream it when you would be visiting every point how our history would have been. Enjoy the beautiful photos and videos.

Definitely worth a visit. The guides are friendly and you should take them.. it will take atleast 4 hours to look at the entire fort ... It has a good Trek that goes up on one side .. carry water and please don't litter... I think they clean it once a day but bottles and biscuit wrappers are all around.. very sad. Overall nice place... As you climb up the breeze gets cooler

Historic fort is very beautiful and got a rich history. - If you are visiting for first time then take the guide. Guide is available inside the fort and they will explain the details. - If you are photo freak, then you will get beautiful pictures too. - Carry water bottle and some snacks (inside fort snacks are not available).

Fantastic fort with reach history. Wonderful place for short track. Ticket price is rs60 per person. Guide is also available to get in depth information about the fort. Well maintained but some idiots spoiled it.

Very beautiful and excellent planning of the fort. Best place for trekking with friends and it is good place to roam and spending time with family and kids. I really enjoyed a lot especially when I was trekking to the lovers point. It was so steep and not having any proper way. It takes minimum two to three days to watch all the places in Chitradurga fort

Fort is a must visit on your road trip to Goa from Bengaluru. It is an architectural marvel and it's history can be obtained from Google so will not say much about it. Complex is clean, well maintained and is a good trek of 6-7 hours.since it is a long walk so one should carry a water bottle as u may not get that inside. Rest it is a beautiful place to spend your day between nature and history.

A historical fort located within the city. Well maintained and has information at prominent places to explain the history of the place. Guides are also available if you want to dig deeper into the history of this fort. I visited in Nov and if was cool and breezy even at 11 AM. Good for photography lovers. A small refreshment shop is available inside the fort (not a big one. Kind of petti shop). One would need at least 2 hrs to visit this fort fully. Involves lot of walking as it's a very big fort.

Lots of history with this place! People will chase you to get a guide to show places.. 😀 Entry - 20 per head Photography lovers will love this place. Adding some pics below. It's marvelous to see how they build the walls with such big rocks, which are aligned beautifully. It has some 7 big doors kinda entry. I guess, the place looks more beautiful in a cloudy day than a rainy one.. we can spend 2-3 hours here and definitely a good walking exercise 😀 It gets crowded after 10-11 AM. Suggest to enter in the morning.. parking is free on the roadside.. There are some local vendors if need any snacks or drinks. Mayura would be the only option if need a proper meals.. Overall great experience.

Awesome place. Amalgamation of history, nature and architecture. A lot of walking to do. Carry water bottle and wear good pair of shoes. Kids can enjoy too. I visited the place with my 3 year old and did not had any issue. I hired services of a guide and got to know the history of the fort. The cloud cover and cool breeze made the visit a grand experience. I highly recommend the place.

The architectural rendering of the fortification is known for its massive walls encircling the palace with majestic guarded gateways, magazines, water and oil storage tanks, bastions at regular intervals. There are numerous watchtowers on top of the hills. The fort is majestic, well preserved and well maintained. Must visit place especially during winter.

Chitradurga Fort is an architectural marvel that encapsulates centuries of history. The intricate design, featuring seven concentric walls and integrated natural rock formations, reflects the strategic brilliance of its builders. The massive boulders not only contribute to its defense but also lend a unique aesthetic. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking to marvel at ingenious fortress architecture.

Simply awesome👌. Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness & trash free environment. Worth visiting the Fort definitely & will not regret it. Entrance tickets is completely digital & online 👍. Local guides at the fort are excellent & walk you around at your own pace. This fort known as Kallina Kote (Stone Fort) is a great reminder of India's rich history 👏👏👏

Absolutely massive fort that overlooks the Chitradurga town. Ensure you get a guide for the a good experience - the guide helps with many stories and anecdotes which truly make you fascinated about the history of the fort. I got a guide at Rs 500, and it was a 2 hour walk around the fort. Entry fee ticket was Rs 20, paid by an online payment at the entrance.

I visited this place on a cloudy day and it was really good. Jyoti Raj who is well known for climbing walls with no safety is usually found in this place. If you are lucky you can find him doing that stunt. Plan for a day trip to visit this place and you will like it.

A huge and well-maintained place. Atleast take out 6-7 hours to visit this huge fort. Quite a number of stairs to reach to the top, but it worth the struggle once you see the mesmerized views. Carry your own water and food. Also be aware of the monkeys, although they are not that notorious.

A historic place with great significance to Karnataka. It is the most magnificent fort built ever. The planning, building and all says it out loud. The location is just perfect, has a lot of amenities also. You can avail a guide inside the fort who explains each and every location and its history. There are around 25 spots with great historical significance inside. It would ideally take a day to complete all the locations. So take some time off and visit this place. It will be worth the time you spend.

Big enough to explore for half a day. The weather makes up for the steeps you have to climb and get down to. Unlike a regular trek, you are exploring a huge old fort which goes on for miles. A rewarding experience if you love archeological architecture.

Chitradurga Fort is a captivating historical marvel. Its massive stone walls and intricate architecture are a testament to India's rich heritage. Exploring its labyrinthine passages and ancient temples is like stepping back in time. The panoramic views from the fort's vantage points are breathtaking. The preservation efforts are commendable, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. You must have 1 days to visit complete fort. Note : To know more about the fort get the tour guide who can help you to explain everything.

Perched atop rocky hills, this 17th century marvel offers stunning panoramic views. The fort's intricate architecture, including the Hidimbeswara Temple, showcases the brilliance of its builders. While reaching it involves an adventurous journey, the rewards are immense. The fort is massive (2500 acres) so be prepared to walk. We spent a solid 4 hours exploring the history of the fort and the views from the top. There is a small canteen which offers bottles and snacks but will advise bring a pair of comfortable shoes and water bottles. Chitradurga Fort is a historical gem where the past comes alive, offering a blend of architectural splendor and natural beauty.

What a beautiful and vast fort! You can definitely spend your whole day here! If you are a trekking/rock climbing enthusiast, there are lots of spots for you to try. If not, you can always choose to just go around. There are lots of historically important venues inside the fort that can be seen and read about. There are lots of monkeys, but they are harmless unless you disturb them. Tickets have to be purchased online using the qr code at the gate. Overall, a must visit especially if you are going to Hampi or further.

It is a archaeological Marvel, we cannot imagine how our ancestors have built this fortress without the access of now-a-day's modern advanced equipment. The walls are huge and powerful. There are couple of temples dedicated to different gods and goddesses. From the top of the hill we could see the part Chitradurga district.

Beautiful place to visit with family. Would suggest to take a guide along, as they can walk you through history and importance of the place. Else you might just feel it's just a fort. The guide shall charge you about 400-500. You'll also enjoy watching the wind farms in the area

  • 2/5 Akshay R. 3 years ago on Google
August end visit. Winter months or monsoon would be cooler though the winds blowing off the rocks gave a cooling effect. The only near decent place to stay was the KSTDC hotel for 2000/-- twin room. The guide spoke only kannada and did not give interesting details. The govt guide fee for a group of upto 5 is Rs400/--Its better to read up about the fort and its history. You can spend 3 hrs comfortably and if you are fond of some rock climbing add another hour or two. Make sure to go to the temples which are at the higher heights. Carry water and a light snack, shades and a cap.lots of steps and if you have knee issues take it easy. The fort is a great place for photography, carry your tripod to get some great shots. As a city chitradurga is quite unclean and messy. Food and places to eat were no different. It might be a better idea to stay in Shivamoga and then do a day trip to the Fort.

Anyone visiting here should atleast know the prominence of each spot by reading online or through guide (who are available once you cross 50mts from entrance), because you will know the planning and effort involved to build and maintain this empire. Also, if you are you and enthusiastic don't forget to climb the tuppada kola.

Chitradurga fort is built during 11-13 centuries by the Hindu rulers. It was taken over by Brit rulers during 17 th century from Muslim rulers. There are good number of Temples and a mazid in the premises. It has three layers of security to reach the innermost of the fort. Mere outside look is not sufficient, you need to reach the top and enjoy the soroundings. Plan two days visit. As it a government monument, the staff leasuarly come for issuing tickets

Chitradurga Fort is a must-visit for those who find themselves visiting Karnataka. The centuries-old fort is a marvel to look at, and the view from the top (if you have the patience and strength to make it up) is impressive. One of a kind fort. Natural terrain has been used for its defence. Makes up for a good hiking trail. A fort with historical significance. Listen to the story of the brave echoing within the walls of the fort

Historic and one of a kind fort: -typically a guide would charge 500 per hour but they don't take you everywhere so keep that in mind(*they take you to 25 marked places on the map that involve temples for the most part, i have attached the map refer to it if need be). -If you want to see the entirety of it it might take you around 2 days. Involves a lot of walking and mild trekking better to carry water bottles and snacks (*please don't litter 🚯). -You can cover most of the places in under 4hrs. Best to plan early in the morning -the ticketing system is mainly QR based and only allows limited people for a given period so keep that in mind -Given all this and also the historical importance of the fort the roads that lead to the fort can still be improved since they are in shambles

  • 5/5 Divya Lakshmi S. 1 year ago on Google
Fort is well maintained... but few places have been messed up by the visitors by throwing garbage even after authorities have kept dustbins here and there. If you are planning to visit the place with you pet then please note pets are not allowed inside the premises. If you have kids of 8plus years kids will enjoy the trip. Worth visiting of you are interested in history of India and also like to trek or walk. Good place for people who love to shoot pictures.

It’s a peaceful place with a lot of history. The fort is built on top of a hill and features numerous ancient temples, palaces, and watchtowers that offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can explore the fort's rich history and enjoy the breathtaking scenery while also experiencing a glimpse into India's vibrant past.

  • 4/5 ABHIMANYU SINGH C. 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful fort maintained normally but efforts should be taken to make it far better. The way to fort is so narrow to reach and parking is small. Weekdays are mostly free while comparing to weekends it’s almost little crowded. You can opt for guide with multilingual skills and may charge you around 200-1000 it’s not a fixed one as the trust has not taken any actions. It takes approximately 1-4hours to explore the entire fort, it’s vastly spread with more details. Best for students to explore and experience the old civilisation. There are proper dustbins placed in all places where we can keep the fort near and clean. Also fresh refrigerated water dispenser in most places and toilet facilities for both genders. A must visit place for people who wants to explore new places and learn history of India.

We visited around 1030 am. It was a sunny day. You would feel the temperature because the surrounding is all rocky... although the rocks are granite. I recommend carrying water bottles and travelling in group would be fun. to get understanding of the fort "Engage a Guide If you can afford one". Without a guide this place will be mostly, Stones, Rocks and walls...crumbled buildings, with a few temples well maintained to check out. There is no maintenance of Toilets for public, so plan accordingly. For people who are interested in Trekking .. there are a lot of places to plan. (although I'm unsure if that is officially allowed). One thing for sure, one who would go around all the fort would burn good number of Calories. :D

Visited in afternoon hours on a weekday and the place wasn't too crowded. Entry ticket can be bought at the spot through online mode. Be prepared for a short trek to the top but it's all worth it because of the views offered.

Chitradurga fort is a historical fort situated in the hub of the city. Timings-6am-5pm Beautiful carvings of yesteryears with onake obavva’s story makes it a must visit fort for those who love stone carvings. It is well maintained with dustbins everywhere, urinals with paid service of 5₹ per person. Entry fee-25₹ per head However for camera extra money is taken whereas mobile photography is free of cost. Warning ⚠️-There are a lot of monkeys inside the fort which grab the food items, water bottles and mobile from the hand. So it is advised to keep the valuables inside the pockets or inside a bag so as to avoid the loss.

What an amazing historical place yet not popular, it is a must visit place if you love our history. This fort was construct like a snake with winding entrance. It is too huge and you need entire day to explore. We had only few hours on the way back to Bangalore hence hired a guide for 2 hrs to show the key places within the fort. I suggest a day trip and hire a guide if you like to know more about the place and the history. Also suggest you to carry a pen and paper to make a note else you forget. At the entrance you need to scan the QR code and make a payment for the ticket which is little cumbersome, I have noticed many people searching for ticket counter and not knowing how to use the QR code, there are few guards to help but if there is a huge crowd then you will have challenge. Best time to visit is early morning and carry a water bottle. There is a shop in the fort where you can buy some sancks and water. My humble request to all the visitor not to throw the plastic waste inside the fort and put in the dust bin only. It was paining to see a huge pile of plastic waste inside the fort :(. Enjoy the beauty and preserve for our next generations.

Amazing place. Can spend a whole day here if you are interested in exploring each and every bit of the cave. Most places have a brief information board next to it. Having a guide is subjective. He will tell you a few more points and significances which isn't there at the display board. Climbing to the top of the rock is not a very easy task, can go at your own risk. View from top is amazing! Entry ticket ₹25 can be purchased at entry gates. Place is clean and we'll maintained.
