Bhadra Dam is 35 kms from Shimoga, very near to Kuvempu University.. The drive from Shimoga to the Bhadra Dam is good, it takes you into the reserve forest of Bhadra Santuary and you will really enjoy the greenery on the way. You have to take prior permission to enter the dam premises.. There are several view points from where you can view the reservoir, it is very big and vast.... The view from the top of the hill is awesome.. Be there by 5 pm to enjoy the pleasant breeze. The view keeps changing as the sun sets. Beautiful location, But not maintained well ..😕 If u want to explore BRP Dam more by boat safari, then check in to the River Tern Lodge, a lovely property of Jungle Lodges and Resorts which, is nearby on the Bhadra Sanctuary, overlooks the Bhadra reservoir..

Very scenic place.. best place for nature lovers... One of the largest reservoir in Karnataka.. Sunset is awesome... great views.. Jungle Lodges resort " River Tern" located on the Hilltop to another side.. For boat ride and water sports you can can contact them.. During boating you can watch lots of birds and animals.. In the summer , small islands in the reservoir fully with river terns 🐦...

Very beutiful and relaxing place..The pleasant atmosphere of the dam attracts large number of tourists and makes it one of the most visited picnic spots of the region. As this dam is situated in close proximity of Lakkavalli village, it is also called as Lakkavalli Dam.. Total capacity: 71.50 billion cubic feet Construction cost: Rs.520 crores Height: 59.13 metres (194.0 ft) Surface area: 11,250.88 hectares (27,801.5 acres)hectares

Half day picnic spot. 186 feet height huge dam. Back water scenes are available in alternative ways. Visit kuvempu university campus which is 2km away from it.

Good place but visitors not allowed on dam bridge. Theres another way which is on right side dam bridge, there we can enjoy dam back side view. I have seen people entering back water from there which seems to Br risky and no security guards present there, so people can use this for illegal activities like boozing, playing and littering

Backwater of Bhadra Dam is very vast & very beautiful and is surrounded by mostly forest, which adds to the scenic beauty. 🌊Luckily this year in July Dam hit the max level, so the reservoir was awesome. Good roads from Shimoga, Bhadravathi & Tarikere. A must visit place 👌

Tourist please note that its not a Tourist spot right now. Gate has been locked from main road itself. If Google takes you then it will end up in private lodge place only which was prior online booking

You cant enter the dam, access is closed but when I went the gates were open and the flowing water was a sight to behold. There are access roads on the side leading up to the dam where you can park and get a good view. Might not be much to view if the gates are closed. Worth a halt if you are passing by that side.

Backwaters of the dam stretches beyond one's vision. Hillocks here and there jetting out of the waters give an enchanting look. When the gates of the dam are opened, the roaring sound of the water is a visual and aural treat. To reach top of the dam one should climb the narrow steps, slightly earie, but worth the experience. From the view point the scenery is quite solacing.

👍👍 I recommend safari travellers to visit this place atleast 1hrs in advance for ticket booking. There are limited seats depending on the vehicles available with them (Jeep/bus/boat). The ticket counter opens at the exact mentioned time and takes down the name and number of visitors and allocates Jeep/...
