One of the nearest trekking place to Bangalore, about 60Km. There’s a fort and stacks of Huge rocks on the peak where you get nice view. Explore these areas and carry water and food stuff. Don’t throw garbage there.

Simple and easy trek . Park near road side near shop and walkable from there till peak . Went in December starting and was good and beautiful fog and cold weather in morning and by 10am sun was out and started warming up . No special permissions needed and takes 1hr or lesser to climb and lesser to trek down

Beautiful trek spot near Bangalore. 60kms from the city and I would suggest you go in the morning for a peaceful trekking experience. It took approximately 50 mins for us to reach the temple in the top. View from the top of hills will make your Trek worth. Please do not litter and keep nature clean and safe ❤️

I have visited this place two times. It's a nice place to watch beautiful sunrise standing between the clouds. The view of the highway from the top is amazing after the sunset. We camped here and it was a peaceful quiet place to watch the city from a distance and to enjoy nature at its best. There are two ways to reach the top. If you select the bike option in Google maps it will suggest you a route which has no proper parking and needs to trek almost 2km to reach the top. Car option will take you to the proper parking from there approx 1km trek to the top. At the top, there is a temple and a dargah. If you walk through the side you can find the route to the top and will give you an amazing view in all directions. Note: Do carry enough water since you will not find any shops or sellers on the way or top. We do have a lot of monkeys here, so please be careful about your belongings and don't carry food to avoid getting attacked by monkeys. Also kindly requesting the people to keep it clean and don't throw your trash here. Cheers 🍻

Went for a a bike ride to Nijgal Betta and also for trail riding in the trails close by the betta. A well maintained place and a nice place for a day trip. Located very close to Bangalore so travel time also is less. Rest room facilities are available. Parking facilities are also available. Sad part is in many places in and around this place alcohol and beer bottles are broken and thrown around in several places. See my photographs to know what exactly I mean Be careful and ensure feet are secured to avoid getting cut by the glass pieces. A lot of trash is thrown all over the place. Sadly this place too is slowly being reduced piece by piece due to the granite being removed little by little The authorities do so much and try so much to give the best facilities, but sadly it is we who do not respect nature and the lovely tourist spots. Take care and stay safe ! Keep our country clean and green !

Beautiful Trek Location just 50+ kms from Bangalore. Totally worth it if you visit during winters. 20 min uphill climb. Not recommended when raining, rocks gets slippery. the early foggy mornings with light drizzling magnifies the beauty of the hill. *Monkeys are there but few. *Many restaurants are on the way. *View is just amazing

Nijagal betta is about 55 kms from Bangalore. As soon as you reach Dobbespet, you will find this hill to the left. One can park the car by the road. Bikes can be taken closer to the base of the hill. The climb is quite easy and can be completed in 35‑40 minutes. One can spot the famous Shivagange hills from the peak. This can be a good ‘Sunrise’ trek.

Good place to begin with. There’s no much of a trekking here you have to walk for around 2km and few steps. The last stone has no support to climb but if you’re good, you can climb it with ease. Place is littered with plastic, please carry your own water bottle. Parking : If you want to have some adventure you can take your bike till the base which is around 500m from the main road.

One of the best place to witness sunrise and sunset. Very easy trek. Rocks may be slippery in some parts other then that its an easy trek. Visit early in the morning or evening Looks like a pilgrim center for both Hindus and Muslims and lot of rituals are carried out in the peak. History says the fort was built by Hyder.

The actual trek is very very straightforward and very small, but the views are nice and the history is the place is rich. If you’re an avid trekker or looking for a proper trekking experience, this is not for you. However, the group I went with and I are true explorers; we diverted from the main path right at the beginning and began climbing through terrain that seemed like nobody ever goes through (assumption made based on the lack of alcohol bottles and trash). Going this way took us through shrubs with thorns, large boulders that needed atleast 2 people to scale and to the rear end of the fort with 2 openings in the fort wall, both of which led to a place filled with shrubs, but the exploration was super fun! I’d visit again but take this lesser known route instead of the main one.

Breath taking view and lush green. On the top of hill lot of monkeys and one should be careful. The map route shown in Google maps won't have proper road, ask locals from dabaspete for the destination. Trekking level is medium.

Peaceful place. Trekking distance is very small around 30-45 mins of ascend is enough to reach the top. Early morning sunrise will be good. Around 45 from the centre of Bangalore city. Last 1.5kms is slite off-road. Need to cross small stream below the railway line. Google maps show proper location. If you come in car, then different place it might show to park. Bikes can go on the stream way.

Located about 60kms away from Bengaluru, a nice place for short trekking. A temple located at the top of the hill. This is also a nice place to tent and stay.

Beginners level trekking. We can reach top with one hour. There is no shop, so take water, energy drink and snack with you, humble request don't throw waste around, no one is maintaining, monkeys are there, so take care of belongings. Bit isolated in evening in weekdays so better go in morning where enough people will be there.

This trek seems better than nandi hills, it was a bit far from the city but well connected by NICE road. Being far amd less famous, it does have a lot of crowd which makes it really serene and peaceful to trek. Its a rocky trek with greenery around with several mosques and temples. There are multiple view points as well. Go early morning.

Nijagal Betta is located just 50Km around Bangalore, and about a couple of kms from Tumkur. Nijagal Betta trek is not quite a popular destination for trek planners, but for non-planners, its one of the best known weekend place from Bangalore. A mid-seventeenth century fort, build by Chikkadevaraya Wadiyar, adorns this hillock. Here in Nijagal Betta, its believed that a war was fought between Hyder Ali and Peshwa Madhav Rao. Ruins of an abandoned temple from the top of the Nijagal Fort. Picture courtesy: Prekshaa Indeed, the Nayakas (or Pallegars) of Chitradurga originally descended from hunter tribes that inhabited the mountainous and densely-thicketed regions of Chitradurga. The earliest inscription available  is of Hoysala period 1288 AD. Nijagal was a prominent town in Vijayanagara and Mysore dynasties. There are inscriptions which mention the donations made by Mysore Wodeyars to the temples of Nijagal. According to an inscription at this place, the present structure of the fort was built in 1698 by Bilugile Dasarajaiah during the reign of Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar. Very nice place to visit with family and friends the view is very beautiful Please do visit and enjoy 😀 For more such places follow us on Instagram @_weekend_travel_adda_

Located Very Close to shivgange, but if you're traveling from public transport you won't get any bus to there and for auto from dobbaspet they'll charge around 200rs only for 2kms, so plan your trip accordingly :)

There are 2 parking areas. One near the underpass in highway & other one taking the village route. We didn't know about the second one. Parked car near main road (highway) & started walking. Actual trek starts after ~1.5 km walking. After first view point , you have to walk backside by crossing rocks. Near darga there is one difficult rock. If they add railing there then everyone can climb easily. If you climb it then the view from above is awesome. It's clean also as not everyone climbs till the end. Near first view point they sacrifice the animals. The whole area smells. Carry water bottle but don't leave bottle or bag unattended. If you do then monkeys will try to snatch.

Great weekend short trek. Short climb but adventurous. It gets dangerous at peak. Monsoon treks are not recommended as the rocks are steep and might slip while climbing. Few rocks are sedimentary and hence proper footwear is advisable.

This is an off-beat place just 60 Kms away from Bangalore. Perfect for a weekend or weekday getaway. We went there on a weekday and it was very peaceful with less crowd. You might be a little confused near the entry point as you will have to cross an underpass. But we were able to cross it on our bikes even though it had ankle-deep water. Pro-tip: Be ware of Monkeys😂 They wont shy away from taking your bags looking for food, if you leave them unattended.

It's a bit confusing to get to the location of the starting point and that to during the rainy season. Need to cross the railway track to reach the point. Anyway the trekking was moderate and overall experience was realy very good .

No wonder I’ve witnessed one of the best sunrise in my recent times! What a spectacular view from the top! OMG! Loved it literally it’s breathtaking! One of the best treks near Bengaluru! Will hardly take 30-45 mins if you are good Trekker! Avoid throwing plastics please, the place is already filled with lot of garbage! No fees charged! A good hike for a day! Loved the viewwwww

Trekking in early morning to view scenic beauty. U can visit a lord Hanuman temple and many small temples and darga are there in a way. Strongly recommend if u are a vegetarian and can't tolerate a smell of cooking of non veg dishes please leave that place before 9am or 10 am.

  • 4/5 Jayanth D. 1 year ago on Google
To figure out the entry point is a bit tad.. Trash is found to be everywhere. Can be really improved and developed with the help of local authorities. A good trek with moderate difficulty.

Best for beginners. It's quite easy to trek and it's located next to NH4 so when ur on a drive to tumkur or Bengaluru u can visit. It takes roughly 20-30 minutes to trek. There's a temple and a darga on the top of the hill.

A nice trek to the top of the hill near Dabbaspet; it's around 60 kms from Bangalore. Scenic, fresh air, and a nice getaway from the city life Important: Don't forget to carry water. Wear a nice pair of shoes 👞

  • 5/5 Gaurav K. 3 months ago on Google • 1 review New
30-50 minutes trek. The place is good, you can easily spend a few hours here. Don't come alone, as you won't find many people around on working days. If you are bringing food with you, be aware of monkeys who can take your belongings. It's a bit colder during winter compared to other places in Bengaluru, so bring some warm clothes.
