The lotus Mahal and elephant caves have singly entry point. They have huge garden spread. One can sit below a tree and enjoy the atmosphere. They don't allow to go inside the lotus Mahal building, u can only watch from outside. Still it is worth visiting, it is a nice place to take great pics.

Lotus Mahal is an important monument in Hampi. Lotus Mahal is a virtual air conditioned residence built for one of the two wives of Vijayanagara ruler Krishnadevaraya. The Mahal had a water tank on the top, water pipes through the beams and columns, facilitating flow of water through the structure and keeping it pretty cool even in hot summer (Summer in Ballari district can get extremely hot).

Amongst the few structures in Hampi which has not taken major damage and is mostly intact. Beautiful summer palace for the queen and her friends which is made of terracotta. There are provisions for water to trickle from the top through channels sourced by hand from the well nearby to keep it cool. One of the facts which stood out to me is that eunuchs guarded the queen in her times.

Lotus Mahal inside the Zenana enclosure was used by the Queen for rest and relaxation. It is designed to keep the place very cool in the hot summer of Hampi. Wind can pass from all four sides providing good ventilation. Within the walls there are mud pipes connected to the water tank on top of the Lotus Mahal, this cools the place (similar to the Clay water bottles). The structure is better preserved compared to other buildings given the destruction by the invaders.

Breathtaking view and cool arras to relax sitback and watch the architectural masterpiece. The cool place was highly required on my trip in the hot and humid weather. The green lawns are well maintained. The lotus mahal has a mugal influence in its appearance. The elephant stable is adjacent to this place. Entry requires a ticket which is usable for the vittala temple as well

Part of the Royal Enclosure, and a really beautiful small building with delicate carvings and in a beautiful lotus shape. We have to see from outside as it is not allowed to step inside, there are barriers to prevent that. Elephant stables and housing quarters for the mahouts nearby is also a must visit.

Lotus Mahal is designed as a palace for royal ladies of those times to mingle around and enjoy recreational activities. The Mahal also served as a meeting point for the King and his ministers. This place is also referred to as a council chamber. It is one of the fine architecturally designed palaces that are uniquely identified by its lotus look-like structure. This glorious building is within the Zenana Enclosure, a segregated area that is used by the royal women of Vijayanagara Dynasty. The Lotus Mahal is also called by the name Kamal Mahal or Chitragani Mahal. Its remarkable and unmistakable design is the main highlight of the palace. It is one of only a handful of astonishing buildings in Hampi that had not been damaged or destroyed amid the attack on the city. 24 pillars are present to support the arched windows and balcony of the palace. The walls and pillars are carved beautifully with patterns like sea creatures and birds. They have designed hooks on each corner/pillar to decorate white cloths around the mahal. During the evening this mahal glows and gives a remarkable beautiful look to the visitors. When the lights are turned on, the entire mahal can be seen in a golden colour! Cooling System at Lotus Mahal architecture: The ceiling that was used as vents for air conditioning. This was the system used to keep the mahal cold and used as a summer getaway. The Lotus Mahal had this special structure where the roof and walls had holes with mud pipes throughout the building. There is a well next to the mahal where the queen's helpers would fetch water and pour it from the top. The pipes circulate water and keep the hall/inner space of the palace cooler for days. How amazing is the architecture and the cooling system during the Vijayanagara period!

The place is said to be a part of queens palace. It was one of the palaces built by the king for his queen. It is such a beautiful struysyandinh amidst greenary. The place is very old and hence when we visited support work for the structure was going on hence going inside or near the structure was not permitted. A resting place for the queen. As per the guide the pillars had pipes inbuilt into them, so during summers when the climate was hot, water could be poured through the walls to keep the palace cool. This is also one of the few monuments in Vijayanagara which was build under a secular style of architecture.

It’s remarkable and unmistakable design is the main highlight of the palace. It is one of only a handful few astonishing building in Hampi that had not been damaged or destroyed amid the attack on the city.As the name given to the palace is because of the shape it resembles. The balcony and the passages covered with a dome that looks like an opened lotus bud. The central dome is also carved as a lotus bud. The curves of the palace are given an Islamic touch while the multi-layered roof design is moreover related to Indo style of buildings. The style and designs is an inquisitive blend of Islamic and Indian way of architecture. The palace is a two-storied building, well-structured symmetrically. It is surrounded by a rectangular wall and four towers. These towers are also in pyramidal shape giving a lotus-like structure visual. Around 24 pillars are present to support the arched windows and balcony of the palace. The walls and pillars are carved beautifully with patterns like sea creatures and birds.

You can scan the QR code there and buy tickets online. This is one of the few places in Hampi that’s almost always crowded (lots of large groups, school trips). The complex has many places that you can see - Lotus mahal, elephant’s stable, some temples at the back and ruins. Expect spending around 1-1.5 hours.

Situated inside the Zenana Enclosure, Lotus Mahal Hampi is a gorgeous architectural marvel from Vijayanagara times. This was built in a unique combination of Indo-Islamic architecture and when you come close to it,the passing wind gives an immediate respite from the scorching sun during day time. Located close to Queen's palace, in hay days it must have been used for relaxation in leisure time by the queen and her entourage.

Many palaces and structures were ruined by invaders, but Lotus Palace in Hampi is one of the best-preserved courtly structures here. It is believed that the Royal ladies of Vijaynagar empire used to stay in this palace. It is one of the fine architectural designed palaces that are uniquely identified by its lotus-like structure.

These are one of those places where you can see the royal places and imagine the royalty it would be having in its original era. This a small palace which is inside Zenana enclosure and was reserved for the royal women of the Vijayanagara Empire according to historical accounts, the structure was built to serve the royal women of the empire. The carvings are incredible and looks very nice. It’s really nice how the building is still saved even after the invaders showed up. A must visit place, the ticket from Virupaksha temple (Stone Chariot) will work here as well. The cost was ₹35. The campus could be a good walking. There is a beautiful lawn after this complex in front of elephant stable.

Good place to visit with family n friends. Involves a descent amount of walking, but having a automobile can cut short the distance since the parking is very near. Entry charges of INR 40 is applicable, however you can use your same day tickets from the Stone chariot temple ( no need to pay again)

Lotus mahal is built in Indo-Islamic architecture and is built in the shape of lotus flower. The complex has Lotus mahal, Elephant stable, Ranga temple, Vaishnava temple, Shrungarada hebbagilu, Zanana enclosure and basement of queen's palace. You need an entry ticket (Rs.40) to get inside the complex, but the same ticket can be used to visit Virupaksha temple. The place is well maintained with many security guards and cleaning staff. The garden is also well maintained.

Located within the Royal Enclosure area, it's a good looking structure although different from other stone structures and ruins in Hampi. And unlike Queen's bath and other structures, people were are not allowed to enter the Lotus Mahal. Not too far from Queen's bath, you can drive down and park comfortably. Since the area is large and many things to see, better to plan early morning or late afternoon when it's cooler. If interested in detailed information, better to hire a guide. If you have already visited other places where you would have bought a ticket, same can be used here also, no need to buy entrance ticket again as we found.

This is the place where during peak summer queen used to refresh themselves. It is a hall with pillars constructed like Lotus without obstructing the entire view. In any direction you can see the otherwise just by walking few steps. Almost like albat fort in Agra but way ahead than that spring 13th century. There is probation for water spraying from the top floor soo that they inside of the hall is always cool. Event today for to the tower the place is surely a couple of degrees cooler than outside

Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, it spread over a large area and included the modern era Group of Monuments at Hampi site in Ballari district and others in and around that district in Karnataka, India. A part of Vijayanagara ruins known as Hampi have been designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. Vijayanagara is in the eastern part of central Karnataka, close to the Andhra Pradesh border.[2][3]

The Indo-Islamic architecture of Lotus Mahal, aka Chitragani Mahal and Kamal Mahal. It is another popular historical landmark in Hampi to visit for couples. Wrapped within the Zenana enclosure, Lotus Mahal was the same place where the royal ladies of Vijayanagara Kingdom used to hear birds chirping and enjoy the lush greenery. The archways of the Lotus Mahal resemble the petals of the Lotus, and thus, the structure seems like a half-open Lotus bud. If you are looking to spend some peaceful time amidst the greenery, Lotus Mahal near Elephant’s Stable is one of the best tourist places in Hampi.

Beautiful place which is not affected by invasion. Most of the structure is still intact. Greenery is also maintained inside the compound. This place was used by queens. Going inside Lotus Mahal is not allowed. Generally not crowded place. Elephant stable is nearby. Place was designed to work as natural aircondition during summer. If correctly remember ticket purchased at Vijaya Vittal temple includes Lotus Mahal entry as well. Again most important suggestion you should HIRE A GUIDE to visit Hampi.

The Lotus Mahal is also called the Kamal Mahal or Chitragani Mahal. It’s remarkable and unmistakable design is the main highlight of the palace. It is one of only a handful few astonishing building in Hampi that had not been damaged or destroyed amid the attack on the city.

The Lotus Mahal was a part of the Queen's Enclosure in the royal section of the city. The upper floors of the mahal are currently off-limits, however the ground floor is open. It has some exquisite carvings on the roofs and is a splendid monument to photograph.

This was built as a recreational arena for the royal ladies of Vijayanagara empire. Sweltering summers made absolutely pleasant by an exclusive cooling system installed in this symmetrically structured edifice deftly designed to resemble an open Lotus buds. One of the lucky structures to be unscathed by enemy attacks.
