To enter this place, you need to buy a Rs.40 ticket, which you can use to enter Virupaksha temple. The place is well maintained. This place was used to look after 11 elephants! Right next to the stable, there is guard's house.

There's 11 Elephant's stables. All of them are interconnected with each other. There is entry fee of Rs.40 per Indian adult. Inside this complex there are plenty of historical monuments. The whole building looks symmetric with respect to this central hall. The tower of the central hall resembles (though mostly destroyed) more like that of temples. However the five pairs of domes on either side are of Islamic in style. They are better preserved and of alternating patterns. Metal hooks (used to tie the elephants) on the inside roof can be seen. At the rear of each hall are small manhole type openings for the mahouts to enter the elephant compartments. It's one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site A big Lawn Area to sit and relax, fresh air it was awesome experience.. Try to visit in the morning or evening.

One among the few least destroyed structures in Hampi, Elephant Stable is a major tourist attraction. This long building with a row of domed chambers was used to ‘park’ the royal elephants. There are 11 domed tall chambers; some of them are inter- connected. The center one is specially decorated and big. Probably the musicians and the associated band troupes had been using this during ceremonies involving elephant processions. You reach here through the Zenana Enclosure. From here you proceed to the Guard’s Quarters and then may be to the Ranga Temple located a bit south of it all.

The elephant stables are one of the few places in hampi that were not attacked. Mainly do to it's indo-islamic architecture. A beautiful site and it's set against a great natural backdrop. Even elephants had such royal treatment then. Beautiful to hear the history about this place from the guide.

The Elephant Stables in Hampi are a mesmerizing testament to the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire. This historical site left me awe-struck, offering a glimpse into the opulence and sophistication of a bygone era. The Elephant Stables are an architectural marvel that seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetic beauty. The eleven domed chambers, each intricately adorned with carvings and ornamentation, reflect the meticulous craftsmanship of the Vijayanagara artisans. The sheer scale of the structure is imposing, and it's impossible not to be impressed by the regal aura it exudes. As you wander through the chambers, you can almost hear the echoes of history. These stables were once the royal quarters for the majestic elephants of the Vijayanagara kings. The symbolism and significance attached to these structures offer a glimpse into the cultural and historical richness of Hampi. For photography enthusiasts, the Elephant Stables are a treasure trove. The play of sunlight on the weathered stone, the interplay of shadows within the domed chambers, and the juxtaposition of nature against the ancient architecture create a visual spectacle. It's a place where every angle tells a story. Kudos to the authorities for the commendable preservation efforts. The site is well-maintained, and informative signboards provide historical context. The guided tours available are insightful, offering a deeper understanding of the significance of the Elephant Stables in the context of Vijayanagara history. Despite being a popular tourist spot, the Elephant Stables exude a sense of tranquility. The vast open space around the structure allows visitors to explore at their own pace, appreciating the details of the carvings and absorbing the historical ambiance without feeling crowded. Walking through the Elephant Stables felt like stepping into a time capsule. The architectural finesse, coupled with the historical context, provides a unique cultural insight into the lifestyle and grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Elephant Stables in Hampi are more than just a tourist attraction; they are a journey into the regal past of Vijayanagara. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or a casual traveler, this site promises a captivating experience. The Elephant Stables are a must-visit destination that encapsulates the essence of Hampi's historical grandeur, making it a highlight of any itinerary. Highly recommended!

This place was constructed for the elephants of Vijayanagara dynasty. Each stable is tall and huge which can comfortably accommodate a fully grown elephant. Very old construction, well maintained. Outside the stables it’s an open ground, which is full of green grass. It will hardly take 10-15 minutes to visit this place completely. If you wanna spend more time you can go for a stroll in the open ground which is surrounded by big trees.

The home of Royal Elephants, the Elephant Stable is a conjunction of grand structures meant as a resting ground for elephants whose job was perhaps to protect the queens and her entourage from any kind of enemy attacks. There is a guard's quarters as well nearby which indicates the purpose and positioning. It is part of Zenana Enclosure. Today one can see the remanants from the glorious days of Queen's palace and even now the Lotus Mahal is very much in shape.

Beautiful structure inside janana enclosure meant for maintaining elephants. The structure has individual rooms for each elephant. These rooms are really big. The area is very neatly maintained with beautiful lawn and chairs for sitting. This and lotus mahal are paid visits and for Indians the ticket price is 35 each for individuals above 15 years.

The elephant stable was constructed in the 15th century, during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is among one of the few least destroyed buildings in Hampi and more than 600 years after it was constructed, it is still standing firm. The building has a row of eleven huge domed chambers to accomodate the elephants. These were designed in a variety of shapes such as octagonal, circular, ribbed, drum-shaped and fluted. Just adjacent to the stables is a huge ground, believed to have been used to exercise and parade the elephants.

Didn't know that even elephants were treated so well with a palatial stable. A visit to this place is a must. This place is within several other attractions around it. 2-3 hours to see the whole site would be justified. The best time to visit though would be early morning or in the late afternoon.

It is a prominent structure that once served as a royal stable for the elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. The Elephant Stables is an imposing long building with a row of eleven chambers, each having its own arched entrance. The architecture of the stables is a blend. This site located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi.

This is a long structure with a row of domed chambers which were used to keep royal elephants. There are in all 11 doomed chambers of which some are inter connected. The center chamber is specially decorated and quite huge. Probably the musicians and associated band troupes had been using this during ceremonies involved in the processions of elephants. The five pair of domes which have remained intact are of the Islamic style they are better preserved. Metal hooks which are used to tie the elephants on the inside roof can be seen. Elephants were common spring the time vijayanagar Empire. There is a big stable for elephants with sufficient space odd 12*12*30 get dimensions adjacent to each other and ina line. There is cross way to go between one stable to another there is also back ward entrance. There is a big lawn where soldiers used to practice and learn martial art. There is also rest rooms for three mahoots. The ceiling of the stables where artistically carved and the temperature due to some constructions is definitely cooler.

There is also a shaded area where you may relax. You only need to thank those who have looked after this historical site.

Elephant's stable is considered to be the stable for the state elephants. However, it is also argued to be a palace secretariat. The long rectangular structure is 85 X 10 metre in dimension. Above the central chamber is a ruined two storeyed structure that is reached by two staircase.

THIS MAGNIFICENT 15TH CENTURY, DOMED AND LONG RECTANGULAR STRUCTURE, BUILT IN THE INDO-ISLAMIC STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE, IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE STABLE FOR THE STATE ELEPHANTS. FACING WEST, IT HAS ELEVEN LARGE DOMED CHAMBERS INTERCONNECTED WITH LARGE ARCHED OPENINGS. THERE ARE SHALLOW NICHES AND DOORWAYS IN THE WALLS BETWEEN THE ARCHES. THE REMNANTS OF A STRUCTURE NEAR THE CENTRAL DOME SUGGEST A PILLARED PAVILION ON TOP. THE DOMES ARE OF VARIOUS TYPE, SUCH AS, CIRCULAR, OCTAGONAL, RIBBED AND FLUTED IN DESIGN AND ARE SYMMETRICALLY LAID OUT. THERE ARE REMNANTS OF ORNATE STUCCO AND PLASTER ORNAMENTATION, ON BOTH THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR, WHICH WAS PART OF THE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN OF THE BUILDING. THERE IS ACCESS TO THE ROOF FROM A CONCEALED STAIRCASE, THROUGH A NICHE BY THE SIDE OF THE CENTRAL CHAMBER.

Elephant stables The stables are built in perfect symmetry with 11 high vaulted chambers to house the royal elephants. According to Abdul Razzak, the Persian ambassador, each elephant had a separate stall and the ceiling was made of strong wooden beams. Each stall has metal rings hanging from the ceiling, which were used to tie the elephants. The Islamic-style domes above the stables are made of brick and mortar and have an alternatina tiered and ribbed pattern. They flank the central projection that resembles a Hindu temple roof.

Elephant's stable is one of the monuments of UNESCO heritage sites in Hampi. It's known that 11 royal elephants used to stay here during the Vijayanagara Empire. The structure is least destroyed by the invaders and it's made in the Indo-Islamic style.

I have visited place in trip to Hampi in october 2019, This is indo-islamic style structure. It was a part of vijayvada empire. It was originally developed for elephants. This structure was used as stables. After visiting this place one can imagine how huge, rich and prosperous was the culture of Vijaywada. I saw some horses there. Like my review if it has helped!!

Elephant Stable in Hampi, built in 15th century CE, is an impressive structure that was used to provide shelter for the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. The building has a row of eleven domed chambers - each of them large enough to accommodate two elephants at a time. The walls between the chambers have small doorways. There seems to have been a pillared pavilion on top of the stable that housed people and musicians during processions. The building nearby was the quarters of mahouts and forces. The stable stands as one of the remarkable structures in Hampi. The Queen’s Bath is an elaborate structure built in early 16th Century CE for the royal family. Designed in a unique way, the large sunken bath constructed in the centre of the structure has an area of 15 square metres and depth of 1.8 metres. It has ornate interiors, arched corridors with pillars, projected balconies with windows, a moat around and arrangements for fresh water supply! Credits: Touring with PK

Majestic structure which stands within Zanana enclosure. Remains intact. Gives you goosebumps, when you imagine elephant's standing within these structures in Vijayanagara reign.

Lotus Mahal and Elephant’ Stables requires entry fees which can be used for other places in a day. Place is really very nice and well maintained by govt. I put my camera to take time lapse and relaxed on ground over there.

Elephants Stables is behind Lotus Mahal. There is a composite all day ticket you can purchase online which gives you access to this site, Vitthala Vijaya Temple, Archeological Museum and more. Right next to it is the Guard house. Behind are other ruins and temples. But when I was there due to rains they had advised against venturing too close to those sites.

The Elephant Stable in Hampi is an impressive structure that was used to provide shelter for the royal elephants of the Vijayanagara Empire. The elephant stable is located in the area that lies just outside the Zenana Enclosure. It is one of the very few structures that have not suffered extensive damage during the Mughal attack on Hampi that led to the downfall of the Vijayanagara Empire in 1565 A.D. The ancient stable is a major attraction among the tourists even today.

Part of ancient city of Hampi, is a structure in good condition related to other ruins, it is said that it was used to keep the elephants. It’s size is humongous and it has huge gumbads and mehraabs , it shows the adoption of Islamic architecture by Vijaynagar kingdom. This structure is located in premise of Vijay Nagar palace ruins , one have to purchase a ticket of rs 40 to visit this whole premise . 30 mins are sufficient to visit here. This premise also includes Mahanavami diva.

Elephant stable is a major tourist attraction inside the Royal center, the structure is one of the best preserved structure. Elephant stable is constructed in the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. Each hall are large enough to provide shelter for two elephants, there are 11 hall one in the center is the biggest of the all. The monument is just back side of the lotus mahal enclose. We need to buy Rs 40 ticket for Indian to access the site, no charges for camera and its opened from 8:30PM to 5:30PM all days. The entry bought here can be used at Vittala temple (Stone chariot) or ticket bought at Vittala temple site can be used here for the same day. The green lawn in front of the structure provide a good contrast for the photograph. Best time to visit is late afternoon when the sun is facing the structure. November to February week days are best months to visit

In the same place as Lotus Mahal and Queens watchtower. It is a big monument with a stretch of lawn in front of it where you can just sit and relax with the building in front of you. A small arrangement of tulips on the lawn makes it even more beautiful
