Lion safari is a good place to show kids about animals and birds. From the last time I have seen this place it has improved a lot, infrastructure wise. There is separate fee for zoo and safari. It’s better if we take both the tickets. Food court is there, some basic foods are available but it’s not at all maintained well. Kids will love this place for sure. One thing is I feel sad by seeing animals behind the cage

Visited on weekends but not crowded. We waited for 30 min to ensure 12 people boarded the safari vehicle. Lions and Tigers found to be in good health and size as well.safari tickets issued at a price of 200 and zoo entry fees 100.Parking fees 25. Required 3 to 4 hrs for entire coverage. Wash room inside was clean. Good restaurant inside offer limited stuff.

It is a very nearby place to my place where I born and brought up. I had been to this place when I was in my childhood. I still remember that was a school picknik...🙌😀 Though this place is near to my hometown and it took me many years to revisit this place. I could able to witness major developments and changes in to this place compared to when I visited long back. Much appreciated 🙏👏 When it comes to Safari experience, it was my one of the best experience so far... I never did see that close the tigers and lions roaming freely around the safari... It was not definitely like a zoo experience... Again kudos to the team maintaining it in a such a neat manner. I was privileged to take my cousins and relatives to this place.. they enjoyed a lot. It was really a wonderful experience me as well. This place is probably best for kids who may cherish the safari experience for a long long time.

Good place to witness some of big cats. Zoo has enough parking space and other basic amenities. This is good place to bring kids, anyone can enjoy safari and seeing animals. No need to worry about hunger or thirst, bcz veg restaurant is present inside premises which helps to quench hunger and thirst. Safari time is approx 15 mins and charge is 150 per head which is slightly higher given time, 15-20 people together in vehicle and shorter distance.

This place is perfect for the picnic and for photography. Also, a canteen located inside the park which serves snacks and some yummy food kinds of stuff. One can also carry also carry their food to spend time from morning to evening to enjoy the glimpse of nature. This park provides the best Jeep safari than the canter safari. One can click perfect snaps of the wildlife at this place, especially during safari time. We went to Safari only in bus( 150₹ adult and 75₹ kid). We need to pay zoo fee (50₹ for adult and 20₹ to kid) even though you don't want to visit Zoo. Safari had only Lion, Tiger and Different kids of Deer. However we saw good amount Tiger and Lion. Safari was max 20 minutes.Bus quality is good . You have Jeep Safari too (2000₹), but it's not worth given the Safari is so less animal. Can go ones. As we had to pay the Zoo before entering, we did had a glance of the Zoo. However the walking lane not recommended for elderly people in few areas.

Amazing experience. I would advise to either go in the first safari ride for the day (9am) or post 4pm. Lion and tigers are the most active during that time. Any other time you go, they will usually be sleeping.

Shivamogga Zoo and Safari is an incredible wildlife experience. The highlight is the opportunity to see lions and tigers up close, sometimes just two hands away, if luck is on your side. The unique aspect here is the caged safari for visitors while these majestic creatures roam freely in their designated areas. For an enhanced experience, I recommend opting for the car safari over the bus. It provides a more intimate connection with the wildlife. To make the most of your visit, plan to go early in the morning when the animals are most active. Shivamogga Zoo and Safari is a thrilling adventure for animal lovers and an excellent family outing.

Such a nice place to visit here with kids. For safari 200 for adults and 100 for kids. Zoo visiting cost separately you have to pay. The kids fun zone/park is good to spend time.

A good zoo & safari place. Development is going on in many places inside the zoo so expect some more animals in the future. Safari is worth going for.

We had a wonderful experience in Safari, We were able to find Lion male and female, tiger male and female, 3 types of deer and byson. We went to Safari by bus, it was about 30 mins. We were so lucky to see a lion so near. Well maintained safari place with proper safety. They charged 200 ₹for adults and 80 ₹for children. Though we went only for safari, Zoo entry fees are a must. Recommended to take food from home or Have it outside before planning. No good hotels available to have nearby. Inside food options are available but we didn't taste it.

Nice and clean environment around a zoo area but least Amount of animals are there and there are many of them not to be seen then in the place don't know why? But it is always a better place to have fun with family and friends, there is a parking spot to park your any type of vehicle and as a best drinking water facility and a good and cleaned rest room available. But the entry ticket for an adult is 80 rupees and for children (4<14) are 40 rupees it's a fair price for all day enjoyment. Yes! Extra money for camera. To go on safari we need to pay 200 rupees per person a little higher but fair.

The safari is worth the visit Zoo has an entry fee and you have a separate charge for the vehicle Once you park, buy the safari tickets and finish the safari. Should cost around 200 per person. If you are a group of 6, you can hire a jeep for 2000. You can see a variety of Deers, Bisons, Tiger and Lions and close quarters. The zoo is okay and is a work in progress. But do visit the tiger and leopard enclosure. You can see the animals at close quarters through a glass window. It has a restaurant and a snack bar near the entrance. Children have a good play area. The place will be good once all construction work is complete.

Visited this zoo and safari in weekend... Entry fees is 80 per person and safari mini bus will cost Rs 200... Tiger and Lion spotted very close to bus and found visiting with kids... Bison, Barasingha, Deers and Black bucks also saw very closely... This is still under going construction work.. Walking around the zoo will take an hour with 2 Km walk... There is Canteen inside and children play and park ... parking and Toilet facilities well maintained.. One can plan for Sakrebail elephant camp in the morning and then later in to the zoo.. No development from Zoo authority. Safari is worth watching Tigers and Lions for 200rs. The zoo is not maintained well, and I can't see animals and birds here. Waste of money, you can walk almost 2km in the forest.

Nice place. For the safari try to get the window seat for better view. The safari lasts less than 30 mins. And unlike popular belief, the tiger and lions are in restricted areas only. It's just the restricted areas are larger than a regular zoo

Okay to visit with small children Not very big zoo. Less animals. One time visit. Safari cost 2000 rs for 6 in a private jeep which is higher for a family of 2-3. If taking individual tickets which is cheaper there will be waiting time until the bus is full.

There are less number of animals currently. Lot of construction work is going on. You can spot nelgai, deer, lion, tiger and bison during the safari. Which are all maintained by the authorities by feeding them(these animals won't hunt)

Wow... What a experience. Although I have visited this so many times, never had this experience. Earlier, lions and tigers used to kept within a forest, we need to pay some amount other than entry fee and needed to see them. But now, They are kept within a zoo(Some animals are kept within a forest still, can visit by paying some amount, They'll take us, by bus). I saw a tiger from very less distance, I'm so thrilled. Also, saw a peacock from very less distance again, can't express the beauty of nature, especially color of peacock. I noticed one drawback, that each animal or bird kept withing a secure place and covered by a glass, which reflects the lights and can't able to see the animal properly. Earlier days there is any iron rods and boxes, something.. So we can easily notice the animal, but now can't able to see them properly. Entry fee for a person 80/- Kids (5-12yrs) 50/- Parking Bike 30/- Auto /Car 50/-

My visit to Shimoga Wildlife Sanctuary exceeded expectations, offering a thrilling encounter with a variety of wildlife amidst lush greenery. Witnessing lions and tigers in their natural habitat was a highlight, showcasing the sanctuary's dedication to conservation through well-maintained. The sanctuary's biodiversity extends to reptiles, vibrant bird species, and even a surprising hippopotamus presence. Exploring the expansive sanctuary requires at least half a day, facilitated by well-marked trails and informative signages that enhance the overall experience. Immersing myself in nature, I found the sanctuary to be a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The environmental education initiatives, including informative exhibits and passionate staff, underscored the sanctuary's commitment to conservation. With its serene atmosphere punctuated by exotic bird calls and rustling leaves, Shimoga Wildlife Sanctuary offers a peaceful retreat for both animals and visitors. It's a must-visit destination, providing respite from the daily grind. The sanctuary's diverse wildlife, well-maintained facilities, and dedication to conservation make it a hidden gem in nature's embrace.

The safari was a good experience so three stars! One less because the other cage sections are still in the installation and renovation process! Another one less because you have to pay 80 rupees per person before entering the zoo and again 200 per person for Safari which come to a total of 280 rupees which i feel is not worth!!

Well maintained place. The zoo has many animals to watch and kids will definitely enjoy. There is drinking water facility and canteen. No buggy service. The wild life Sanctuary is a must visit. The staff takes an effort to search, stop and show the tigers and lions. Went on a Sunday.

Visiting this place was my favorite childhood activity. The place has undergone lot of renovation and has added many animals and list a few. The black panther remains a major attraction for me here, though it's in the zoo section and not inside the sanctuary. The tiger and lion count seems to have reduced from before, but they look healthier. Overall, a good getaway for a half day family picnic if you are near shimoga

A good place to spend time with family. But sad to see most animals including leapords confined to a cage without any freedom to roam around. Needs to ensure such animals are allowed in an open area as part of safari section. Even though the safari area is also in limited space, still a lot better than caged rooms

  • 5/5 Aparna g. 1 year ago on Google
Good place to see Lion,Tiger, Leopard and Black Panther. We can see Lion and Tiger from a very close distance during the safari. Now some constructions are going inside the zoo. We can see Lion and Leopard throw glass in the fence. Good place to visit with kids and family. Suggestions: Please ask people to be quiet during safari. Mimicking animals will disturb animals as well as other people.

A place to visit in Shimoga, easily accessible as not much far away from Shimoga city. Tiger and lion Safari was great and lots of birds and animals are there. The staffs are cooperative but they communicate in their own language. Safari price are reasonable

A Good Place to hangout with friends and family and a must visit for the lion safari with separate Jeep which costs only Rs-2,000/- for upto 6 members , which is worth to go ahead and explore the closest lion, tiger, bisons etc

The zoo is good for friends n family. But if you have enough time you can walk around the zoo. Safari was so beautiful because we saw a lion from very less distance, we are so thrilled. 😍🥳

A nice get away with your family and you can easily spend 2-4 hours. The Safari ride is hardly 15-30 mins based on the driver's mood. You can spot the well fed bengal tiger and lion. There are plenty of langurs, spotted deer, black buck and blue gaurs. Nice place to rewind and have some quality time amidst nature and animals. Entry ticket and safari tickets are priced nominally and it's worth it. Go for it

  • 5/5 Srikkie S. 5 months ago on Google
Nice safari experience. They have spotted deers, sambars, nilgais etc, couple of lions and tigers, and many Indian Gaura, all of them in their own enclosures. You have option of common bus or jeep safari. Jeep has wait times. Safari is not more than 30-50mins and the bus driver is patient and stops very close to the animals. The premises is maintained quite well, ample car parking available and under tree shade. Situated on a main highway road and access to this place is easy. Great place to spend few hours with family.

Amazing experience. Take the safari in a Jeep if possible. Looking at the wide animals up close. Lion tigers and deer are very good to watch The rest are ok.. zoo is not very well maintained.. glass windows need to be cleaned frequently as they are dirty. 2 hippos are also there..

Good place to hangout with kids. You can easily spend more than 3hrs in this location. You can enjoy jungle safari with INR 150.00for adult and INR. 75.00 for 5-10year kid. 0-5year it is free. Entery charges applicable. You can enjoy Tiger & Lion safari in 30 minutes. In zoo you can see different species. Children park is available.

Safari ride is good. Zoo is just avg. very poor maintenance of animals. Felt little animal cruelty at this zoo which I never felt in any other zoo because of their ill treatment of animals.
