This was our second visit.. Awesome location.. Delicious food , very friendly staff and lovely cottages You have the whole beach for yourselves only.. Beautiful sunsets and long walks makes very memorable stay.. After the 2021 cyclone lots of trees were lost. So now greenery and the shades around Golghar and cottages was decreased. We enjoyed the Dolphin watch and Kali temple visit. Water sports were very enjoyable.. Enjoy the amazing nature..

Was looking forward to this resort as the reviews on Google were fantastic but still was skeptical about being a govt owned property. So, I didn't book online and went directly to first check out the place and book on the spot. Well well folks, I was quite lucky that I didn't book beforehand. The place is in total shambles. 12K for a night is a daylight robbery. Trash everywhere, rooms are not worth 2K per night. Skip this and go to Goa instead which is just 25-30 mins drive from here. I seriously doubt authenticity of the Google reviews. The place is nothing like photos online, disgusting and it felt that even the half an hour which I spent in checking this place is wasted. Please skip this property.

The place is beautiful with easy access to both beach and the river. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The food, staff and service was good. The open water was good to enjoy the water activities and swimming as long as you want. Dolphin spotting and kayaking are part of the package. We enjoyed the stay and the activities thoroughly. I recommend this place any day!

Secluded, calm, pleasant beach resort managed well by an always on the ground manager. Food is decent and staff are friendly and helpful. Good to take a package which includes the usual sightseeing and boat-rides. The beach is clean.

A neatly maintained resort, with tasty non-veg food especially the evening snack and dinner, though not much variety provided. Resort located in a peninsular land. A neat private sea shore, to feel the calmness and be relaxed. Enjoyed the merging waves arising from both directions. Banana ride on extra perks, was a worth.

It's an awesome beach resort. Great value for money. Nice food. Pretty much like a private beach shared only with other resort guests. Staff is very courteous and great service. Like all others, this JLR is also an awesome experience.

I really enjoyed the place as it is around nature and has up to date facilities which is very rare in these types of resorts. My family and I really enjoyed the candle light snack time and dinner by the beach. The views of the ocean were breathtaking and the rides were really fun. The food prepared in the kitchen was also like home food. The only complaint I have is that there should be more charging points in the rooms but other than that everything else was amazing.

A very nice resort situated on a private island in Karwar. Cottages are super cool to spend a vacay on beach. Beache is extremely clean and empty. Service is super good and food is too tasty. Perfect gate away for family trips, office outbounds as well. We have spent a night partying on that beach. No restrictions. There are options of water sports and dolphins sights. A must visit place. Worth money

Time of visit: April 2021 This was my 6th JLR visit. One of the best beach resorts. Closest to nature . It is right the estuary where river Kali meets the mighty Arabian see. The cottages are huge and spacious. One has to park the car at the office and you will be taken by a speed boat to island. As usual , food was good. Water sports are also there but can get crowded at times. Barbecue dinner / snacks lacks vegetarian options.

Beautiful property, good food and great hospitality. The team had arranged nature walks, where we learnt about the various flora and fauna around coastal areas. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged with his humour. There was a boat ride to watch dolphins, a bonfire in the evenings with snacks on the beach and water sports to keep us occupied. Most of all, the beach is private and clean- long walks here refreshed us completely! The hospitality from all the members, starting from the boatman till the manager was excellent.

Great place to enjoy the splendour of the ktaka west coast and Karwar. The stretch of beach within the resort is simply stunning, and so is the Kali River, where they organise water sports. Location is a definite10/10! JLR is great as usual, with the courteous and very homely staff, plus the good food. Very nice staff at the resort, and they take a special interest in talking about the place, and engaging everyone, especially children.

Nice resort with private beach. Room and food great. As usual JLR special, kind hearted staffs with smiling face. You can spend good amount of time in beach during evening and night. You may spot dolphins, different kind of birds. You can try water sports like kayaking, speed boat etc as per their itinerary. Worth place to visit.

Nice place for friends get together, for couple, even for family. It got more water sports, we felt good after sports are bit expensive but worth to try, received well with welcome drink followed by nice lunch. Overall Food varieties are good and felt like having home food. Room service is good and clean, most importantly rest rooms were clean Being Govt organisation, I am very impressed with food and hospitality Note : It would be good if they don’t allow people to consume alcohol at dining place (I know it’s common sense for the people to not to have alcohol where ever they want)

I recently stayed here along with my family. It was an amazing experience on multiple fronts: 1) Food 2) Cleanliness 3) Location If you’re wondering what’s so special about this location, in this very place Kali river joins the Arabian Sea. So it’s river on one side and beach on the other and beach is restricted only to the customers of Devbagh JLR so it’s very less crowded and we get to experience the serene environment of forest on one side and beach on the other. Great place, highly recommended for family and friends

The approach to the beach resort is bad. Mud road with no proper lighting. The food served at the beachside was not up to the mark. It can be better managed. Place where lunch was served, no proper arrangements. When you are aware that you are expecting these many guests arrangements should be taken care of. Family with small kids were standing and eating food. Poor people management.

I loved this place. It is a pity I did 2 nights at Om Beach Resort and 1 here whereas I should have done the reverse. However, the location food and service are all really good here. There's lot to do. Take a boat ride to the Kali river confluence with the sea, visit the Kalika temple, take a morning walk for bird watching, indulge in watersports or just laze on the beach. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the naturalist guide is a very sweet person.

Location: This resort is situated at a wonderful location, estuary of kali river. Beach is pristine, clean, and calm. Staff: This place gets its charm because of the staff running the show. They are extremely courteous and helpful. Food: Food is very good, just like other jungle lodges. Lot of options on buffet. One can eat this food happily for days. Rooms: Rooms are just okey. Some are better than others. Experience: one should stay here for at least 2 nights. The place grows over you. Perfect place for laid back, calm beach experience.

Ofcourse.. its stunning but the people doing service there absolutely enhance your stay by 100% hospitality and great great food. Rooms can be better furnished as it's not cheap stays. Something which will go long way. Also I would like to highlight, how the staff take your luggage to the rooms is absolutely unacceptable. Why they have to take it on shoulders or head.. carrying heavy bags walk through the sand. Easily one motor vehicle can be provided to drop bags to various rooms. Please focus on this issue. πŸ™ Rest everything is pleasing.

Beautiful place. Visiting for the second time after a gap of 5 years. A lot has changed. The entry which was earlier through a ferry has now shifted to a motorable road on the opposite side. Mature trees have been cut down and the resort expanded with new rooms. Came to know that these changes have happened just 4 months earlier. New and wider Beachfront for snacks and dinner. Dinner on the beach was a new and welcome feature. Drinks for people wishing to imbibe is a plus point. Instead of cold drinks, they had nimbu juice and nimbu soda, another plus point for me. Food overall was okish. They have added a second boat ride option: 1. Visit on Kali river to a temple 2. Dolphin cruise - go for this, it's worth it. Rooms were so new that they didn't yet have hooks or rods on the doors or in the cupboards.

A superb beach resort with a fantastic ambience. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. They are situated right on the beach. The evening tea, drinks and dinner by the beach is a magical experience. They also provide a few water based activities. And the greatest takeaway is service. The staff here is cordial and helpful.

We stayed in sadashivgad resort but came to devbag resort for lunch, water activities, high tea and dinner as a part of package. Pros+ 1. Water activites- we chose boat ride to kalika mata temple and it was amazing, guide cum resort manager narrated bird info and other details during this ride which made it memorable. These people are real gems of this resort. 2. Candle ight dinner- one of the highlight and best candle light dinner experience we ever had. They had arranged a bar counter at beachside, Food was tasty and had good variety. It was so peaceful watching beautiful sunset, listening to waves and sipping your favourite scotch with starters. They also lit campfire which was cherry on the cake. The property is very big and you sit right on the shore without any crowd disturbance which was the best part that you can't get anywhere else. Cons- 1. Common washrooms for sadashiv gad tourists didn't have electricity, soap etc and were far away from dining area. 2. We didn't stay here as cost was double than sadashivgad resort, which I felt bit overpriced. Overall a must have experience and highly recommended.

Best Feature- Quietness and wilderness Good features- Boat ride , food , services , evening outdoor dinners Poor feature: The rooms . These need improvements JLR Hampi and Kabini are better properties but Devbag is more scenic compared to those two . JLR always use local people for their hospitality services instead of cheap migrated labors from north east . That’s could be one reason why they are bit more expensive. Those who are looking for 3* hotel comforts pls do not come here , you will be disappointed. Those who are willing to sit all by yourself hours listening to the sound of ocean , birds chirping, peacock honks - you can definitely consider . The rooms are not unclean but not well appointed . Internet was decent

It’s my first visit of a JLR property owned by government of Karnataka. It was a stay that we need to appreciate ,enjoyed the nature, beach, polite and humble staffs and the calmness of the surrounding. 1. There is a volleyball net to play on the beach , staff provide ball if we request. 2.We do have birds with rare sights of peacock dancing as well. 3. Water sports are chargeable as mentioned during booking. 4. Good simple food with both veg and non veg options. 5.Camp fire with snacks or fried items both veg and non veg. 6. Boat ride to the Kali maths island. 7. During non rainy season dolphin rides are also offered. 8.Safe to stay they have enough boats, life guard, manger is also good and responds well.

One of the best JLR properties. An entire island is for the guests of Devbagh beach resort. As always, the JLR service at its best. Food is good, the location is excellent! The day is filled with activities and relaxation time balanced out. I still feel it's not value for money though. For the price i paid, you can get 7 star resorts in much more beautiful places.

Excellent location as jungle lodge stay, food is awesome they serve chicken, mutton, fish, crab too. Bird watching, bonfire, dolphin ride, water sports are activities here. Peaceful location to refresh mind. Though there were damages due to cyclone hoping resort will develop the same greenery they had earlier.

Nice beach facing rooms.. rooms are old styled, and need refurbishing.. staff is courteous.. beaches are ok and private. Not so clean beach. Worth stay.. put on the bathroom lights during night, if you do not want peacock menace on your roof distrubing your sleep.. place does not look very secure.. you might find this place creepy if you care for lots of security..

Good location. Affected by cyclone in 2021 May. Service is not great. Rooms are not maintained well. No itinerary happens on time. They have forgotten customer service and are constantly whining about the 300 trees that were lost to cyclone. Avoidable till 2024 unless you don't mind these things. Not value for money when compared to some other JLR properties.

Fantastic location in this private beach in Karwar. Staff is friendly, very polite and knowledgeable. Water sports is also available with an extra price to be paid at the property. One boat ride and nature walk is included as part of package. Had a good time doing both these activities. First of all I would like to mention the guide of bird watch and river walk, Anil who gave us every bit to information of the river and birds so thanks to him. Spotted many dolphins during our Dolphin ride. The staff was very friendly and kind to take us around many islands like Kurumgadh, Madlingad etc. Food given to us was Karwar local cuisine and was very delicious and we enjoyed the night in front of bonfire. Nice place to spend quality time with family. Highly recommend this place for a one night stay with friends and family. Attached are few pictures along with my mother's experience during her stay at the resort.

One of the best beach resort in Karwar, Karnataka. It is in an island near where Kali river merges in Arabian sea. You need to park your car in the admin office and they will take you in the boat to the island resort. The package starts with lunch, relax for some time and tea/coffee will be served around 4:30pm. This followed by water sports (water scooter, banana boat, kaya king depends on the weather conditions). If you are looking for scuba dive, snorkeling, para gliding, etc., this is not the place. Around 7pm they provide bonfire at the beach and snacks will be served. They have bar also. If you are carrying your own drinks, they help you to store in the fridge and serve when you need. The beach is beautiful and quite. There is a fisher boat pier on the other side, but it is little far. This place quite secured and you will feel that you are in a private beach. Beach closed by 20pm. Next day morning they have nature walk around 7am and boat ride for dolphin sighting around 10:30am. It is really worth for 1 day stay. Food is good, they serve both veg and non-veg buffet. Very well maintained by Karnataka tourism development and courteous staff.

We had amazing stay there. And fortunate enough to even spot dolphins. Good staff, good food. You can't go in your car, you have to take ferry from their office, which is near sadashiv Gadh.

Stayed from 22nd to 26th Oct 2022. Fabulous stay opposite the beach. Cottages are very beautiful with beach access. Staff was very co-operative. Never said no for anything. Food at Golghar was very tasty. At night, they organize camp fire with food on the beach β›±. With the waves lashing away, it was magnificent. . Mr. Nischint was ever helping and ever smiling. 10/10 . Mr. Dilraj ,organises the nature walk very well in the morning. He is very knowledgeable about birds. Fantastic vacation

Well, it's a great place to stay near the beach. It's a peninsula, one has to park vehicle at the office and from there a ferry takes us to the resort. Great place to find some solace and peace. Great for birding, macro and butterflies. Food is good in general. Beach is maintained well too. As on Oct 2022 the roads are in bad condition between yellapura and ankola. Hubli to yellapura too is manageable only.

An excellent property for a peaceful beach vacation. You have almost the whole island for yourself and your co-guests. Pristine beaches, natural walk ways, very friendly and courteous staff, tasty food offerings, all together make it a memorable experience. Your experience starts once you arrive at the Resort office on the mainland and board the KTDC boat to the island. In around 20 or so minutes of cruising the Kaali river estuary you'll arrive at the boat landing point on the Devbagh Island. You can take a nice walk to the reception while the pick up truck carry your luggage. Check-in was quick and you're allotted one of the 20 or two cottages right away. You can arrive earlier than the check-in time too and take a leisurely walk around the resort while your cottage is getting ready. Cottages are quite spacious with number of beds per your reservation, air conditioning, water heater, clean linens and ample toiletries. Cottages have a nice south facing sit out where you can dry your beach clothes as well :-) The Golghar where food is served is near the reception. Veg and non-veg dishes are quite delectable. Evening tea/snacks and dinner are served on the beach with camp fire and other activities. Resort arranges boat rides to the estuary and out into ocean mouth to watch dolphins. Our evening ride was cut short due to very low tide following an eclipse on our day of travel. So, we made an unplanned visit to Kaali Mata temple on an island upstream when you can take a board walk around the mangroves as well. The boat ride next morning gave us ample opportunity to watch, from a little far though, pink and black/dark dolphins playing in the deep waters. The nature walk led by Mr Dilkhush was a very refreshing experience where we could see quite a few birds. Mr Dilkhush has a keen eye to sport the tiniest or the most camouflaged of birds. The island is rich with birds of various kind and there are quite a number of peacocks around. You can hear their calls during most of the day, more during evenings and mornings. One-day beach package ends with breakfast. Check-out too was quite quick and you get a boat when you're ready. Once you're dropped at the Devbagh office jetty you're ready to leave carrying all those wonderful island vacation memories. Would like to commend KTDC for maintaining places like Devbagh as natural as possible with out much construction or concrete work. Also, for the well experienced and customer-focused staff who take the whole vacation experience one level up.

Devbagh Beach Resort in Karwar offers an exceptional stay experience with access to private beach and the nearby river. The rooms are spacious. The food, staff, and service are all top-notch. The management team, led by the Naik Sir and Dinesh Sir, deserves immense praise for their exceptional service and attention to detail. Their efforts have truly elevated this jungle lodge. The scenic sunset on the beach adds to the charm of the resort, and enjoyed the candlelight dinner offered. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
