The directions from Google are accurate if searching for"Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary" - not the result for different searches as those are not correct park entrances. There are 100+ bears in the park and there are occasional leopard sightings as well. Plenty of bird life and a very different experience compared to other parks. Note that bears are lured out at a safe distance because park authorities place treats on rocks and they venture out earlier in the evening than they otherwise would. You are allowed to drive from the entrance to the watch tower in your own car. There is a INR500/- charge for the car and an additional INR25/- fee for each passenger. While it is good to be able to drive in your own vehicle, all visitors are not briefed about appropriate behaviour - saw several vehicles speeding and honking in the park. Also, pretty noisy at the watchtower.. some enforcement would be needed. Also, park is only open 2-6pm. Would be great if an early morning entry was allowed as well.

This place is located around 14 km from the main point of boarding. You have to take a jeep safari which would cost you Rs 300/ person. The facilities at the boarding point include a toilet and sitting area. The jeep safari was quite interesting as we could see several wild birds on our way. We had to climb a watch tower to check out the Bears. However, we couldn't spot any even with the binoculars. Timing for the safari is between 2pm- 4 pm.

Daroji bear sanctuary was such a breath of fresh air ! It is relatively still brand new in its operations , the staff is extremely hospitable . For Rs.2000 you can rent the whole jeep for your family ! Or Rs.300 individually for a mixed group of 7! We opted for the former ! Our guide Vinod and Jeep driver Ravi were extremely knowledgeable and gave it their all when it came to educating us . The highlight of the trip was Ofcourse seeing the bears in such close proximity , it was unexpected and enthralling! Highly recommended activity while you are here in Hampi ! :)

Road to Sanctuary is rough with potholes. Once reached main gate per person charge is Rs 25 and vehicle charge is Rs500. This needs to be paid at main gate. driver is excluded from charge. once you are inside sanctuary and you will reach watch tower which is marked in Google Maps. After flight of stairs, is watchtower where one can see bear. we could see 4 bears in span of 1 hr. There are two binocular with them which you can use. Binoculars are necessary for viewing bears. Staff is nice and friendly

It's located 15-18 km away from Hampi. Best way to visit this place is by Bike. Car will cost you 500 for parking, where as entry fees for person is only 25 rupees. And don't expect a guaranteed sighting, it's a Sanctuary in their natural habitat. It's not a zoo. You can request for a Binoculars from the watch guard. Timings are 2pm till 6pm

This is a place for them who are patient. Government officer pour honey on the rocks which attracts the bears and helps the visitors for good sight seeing. This sanctuary is around 20kms from Hampi/Hospet. Google maps will take you exactly to the entrance point. Fees :- Rs. 25/- per person. Rs. 500/- per vehicle. Camera fees - Rs. Zero. After taking the entry tickets from the entry point. We have to go 4kms ahead inside the jungle to reach to the Watch Tower also called the View Tower. You could see many markings on the road, so it is easily reachable. Watch Tower is of good height and is of 2floors. At watch tower you will find government officers who gives you the Binoculars to have a closer look of the bears. But it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO carry your own Binoculars.. Honey pouring time is 2PM, only once in a day. Try to reach at the watch tower Max by 3PM. Though we were lucky, even reaching reaching late at 4:15PM we were able to have sighting of 3 bears. All the best guys.

Visitors are allowed b/w 2-6pm is specified everywhere but there is a change in process. We are allowed for the visit only through the kamalapur zoo safari, if we go directly they stop allowing us to visit. Since this was a recent change they allowed us, but visitors be mindful during your planning

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary. In Local Language It is called Karadi Forest & in Raamaayanaa's Kishkindha, (today’s Anegundi), which was also the monkey empire of Sugriva (of Ramayana Epic) was located on the banks of Tungabhadra river. In the war against Ravana, Kishkinda, the monkey kingdom of Sugriva, was Rama’s ally. When Rama’s army crossed Hampi en route to Lanka, they met Jambavantha or Jaambaavaan, the King of Bears who joined the army. Jaambaavaan got the boon of immortality and so witnessed the 9 avatars of Lord Vishnu. People perhaps visit this Bear Sanctuary in search of the immortal Bear King!

We had a wonderful experience of being close and in clear vision of the slot bears. We also had a fox sighting. If you have an ethical issue with wild animals being tempted by bait to come out in the open sighting, then this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, the experience is good. For anyone wanting to explore, it is recommended to take the safari trip starting from Daroji sloth bear safari pick up point near the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Zoological Park.

ou are going to find a lot of Indian Sloth Bears here at Daroji Sloth bear Sanctuary. Hillocks here are rough enough and are dotted with a lot of boulders. The Sloth bear count here goes to around 120. However, the sanctuary also accounts for other species.

This is a different type of forest. It's made of boulders and dry decidous shrubs. From the watch tower you will notice there are no trees around. The drive through the forest is great. Sighting the bears from the watch tower is great. Bring a good pair of binoculars. People with mobility issues will find it difficult to climb the stairs of the watchtower

Very nice place for kids, rarely wild animal you will get to see, birds peacock, rabbit, easily seen on the way. Ensure to ask binocular to driver while booking safari, try to go in 1 st slot 2pm. Bears are too far from the place we can see. U can Enjoy Jungle view from the top. Visit charges 300₹ per person but you can book whole vehicle for ₹2000.

The sloth bear sanctuary was very well maintained and organised. The guided tour works out to be 400 Rupees per head. The complex is well maintained and has an extensive section dedicated to the fauna. The bears are sighted from a watch tower. There is provision of safari vehicle and also for visiting specific spot for taking pictures. Good and friendly staff. Best to be in groups of minimum four to avoid delay.

Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary is a great place to visit while you are at Hampi. We visited the place as part of the package from Hampi Heritage & Wilderness Resort. You can spot multiple sloth bears from the watch tower in the sanctuary (the staff puts some jaggery mix to attract the bears). In addition to the bears, you can spot leopards in their rocky caves if you are lucky, birds like peacock, Grey Francolin, Jungle Bush Quail, Red vented Bulbul, Laughing Dove, etc can also be easily spotted. The forest is a bush forest and the local trees planted by the forest department has turned into a sight worthy to behold.

Went for safari, though didn't find anything during the safari, we could spot Bear's from the top view point. It's worth going. Ideally you should be booking especially when going during the holidays.

The safari experience itself was as expected, but I deduct 1 star because it's so hard to find reliable information on how things work. There's no official website and not even a phone number as of January 2024. Here's how it worked for us: we showed up at the Google maps location around 3 pm and went to the ticket office. They told us we can book a full jeep for 2000 rs or wait for other people to share the cost (all prices mentioned are for foreigners, might be different for Indians). We decided to wait a little. The small museum next to the entrance is very nice, so you won't get bored. After some time, another two people showed up, so we could split the cost of the jeep by four, making it 500 rs per person. Up to 7 people fit it one jeep, so this can go down to 300 rs. We started the safari at 4 pm and came back around 6:30. The destination of the jeep safari is always the watchtower where you get to see the sloth bears that come to a place nearby (still quite far away from the watchtower though!) to feed on the honey that is placed there by park rangers. So you're more or less guaranteed to see them, but as mentioned from far away. Without the provided binoculars they're just some black dots. The way to the watchtower is also nice, we spotted a number of birds, rabbits, a python, and the landscape is beautiful.

We loved the safari. The tickets were not very expensive. We got a private tour at just 2000 rupees. They also gave us binoculars and the staff carried a very professional camera. The staff members are extremely talented and hardworking. They were fluent in Hindi and Kannada. Our guide Mr. Srinivas and driver Mr. Srinu helped us spot so many species of birds and lizards and the Sloth Bears. Here I have also posted a picture with our guide and driver.

We went during weekdays . I have heard its too crowded during weekends and long holidays . Safari is well planned and executed by forest department . You can watch the bears from two places , one is watch tower and another one at an elevated enclosure . While purchasing the tickets mention that , you want to take pictures and also dont want just the watch tower . Charges are not very high .

The entry charge to the santuary for 4 wheeler is rs500, but for an auto it is free. So if you are visiting this park, better to hire an auto and you also don't whether you spot a bear or not, better to save money. This park is situated nearly 20kms from Hampi bus stand. You can spot many peacocks and variety of birds here. But bear spoting is not gurantted, i coludn't spot

Private vehicles are not allowed in the Sanctuary. You need to take forest department safari which is located next to Kamalapura zoo. Safari starts from 1pm and closed by 4.30pm. Try to take the 1pm safari as sighting would be good. They take 7 persons in 1 jeep and per person they charge Rs 300. You need to wait until there are 7 members or book the jeep for Rs2,000. We took the safari at 4.15 pm and hired the jeep along with another family so it costed us Rs 1,000 per family. He sighted 2 bears and it was up close.

We had booked this and were not expecting such a good experience. The naturalist Shreenivas was very informative. Both driver of our safari and himself helped us a lot to locate the bears. It was a amazing experience. Luckily we also met very gentleman Mr. Devrajan Sir, who is handling this new adventure. The total experience was amazing. Thanks for all.

This place serves different angle of Hampi. Slightly away from the Hampi. Entry fee for the park is 500 rupees for car. From gate to the view point is almost 5km through sanctuary. You will like it. From parking to view point you need to walk for 10 minutes. Forest guards are very cooperative and friendly. Through binocular you can watch the bears. Nice experience. Liked

I was little disappointed for not finding any Bears in the Sanctuary.Second,They charged 500 rupees for a car entry. We need to watch the animals from tower. The feeding time is around 2pm.If you go after 3pm,there is a very slim chance of seeing any bear. It's a good place for patient people who likes to obeserve animals in the wild system. If possible,Always carry a own binoculus.
