For trekking lovers, Channarayana durga is one of the best location. We 5 members planned to visit this place, though we looked at some of reviews we did not realize that we have to climb a huge rock with 40 to 70 degrees inclination in multiple locations. Route is not very clear, and finding it while climbing the rock is bit confusing as there are very few yellow arrows. So I thought of sharing a detailed review with some pictures showing the route. There are multiple gates to reach the top of fort. Way to Gate 1 from the base is toughest of all, as you need to climb multiple huge rock. one of our group member did not continue as he had height fear. If it is a rainy day, rock might be slippery. Also climb and come back early in the day as rock becomes hot post noon. Once you cross gate 1, it's very scenic. After Gate 2, there is proper way and steps to reach to the top of fort. View from fort top is beautiful and mesmerizing Carry sufficient water, snacks as needed. Nothing is available in that area as it is a small village. Apply sunscreen as needed, else may end up tanning or sunburns too. Car Parking to be done on the village road and walk to the base ( you will see a small temple at the base point).

Excellent place for moderate to difficult trek. The initial climb is challenging. We had heavy backpacks since we were camping on the hilltop. Sunrise and Sunset are breathtaking! The night sky is amazing too!! You will find a trek partner (a cute dog) he will be with you till you come down. If u are the only group. Pls carry some biscuits for him. If u have any questions reach out to me on sw_chasingstars

Its a very good place for sunrise trek with your friends. trek can take 2-3 hours to climb based on the path you choose. there are 3 ways to get to the top. one is easy other is moderate and another is difficult. you can choose your trek train based upon your interest. The arrows shown on the rocks are easy trek routes so if you want little difficult trek you can explore other paths by your own. Try to carry some food its a good place for picnic and don't litter please carry your trash back and dispose in proper place. Please please avoid sculpting your names on the walls.

This weekend escape is good for people who have an appetite for trekking or hiking. The initial part of the trek is steep and can be somewhat difficult for the people who do not have much experience. But wait.! Once you climb and reach the spot, it will all be worth it. After the initial climb, there are stairs at every turn that take you to the top of the fort. There is no proper route/way that will guide you to the hill top. When we went there were 2 dogs who were leading everyone to the correct path and all they wanted is a small treat (a gentle pat & a biscuit pack will do the job). The view from top is simply amazing. There's a small pond which also has fishes in it. You will have plenty to capture on your cameras. Again, while you get down, it will be not be a very smooth task. You will burn all the extra calories you had kept in abundance. REMEMBER: Do take your water bottles, eatables(but don't litter) and DO NOT step out of your house without proper shoes! Shoes are the ones that are going to take you all along up and down safely.

Had a wonderful trekking experience to Channarayana Fort. One of my best, so to say. It's bit confusing to find the starting point, but locals are very helpful. I would rate the complexity as medium. Start very early or choose a cloudy day (but strictly avoid during rains). Unknown to most, the overall ascent will take about 1 to 2 hours, depending upon the individual. More than 50% of the trek is through monolith rocks, at about 45° incline. Need to exercise extreme caution while coming down. Keep water, food (fruits, glucose, energy bars etc), cap, sun glasses with you. If you find difficulties with shoes, you can walk bare foot. Won't advise for kids below 12 years. There is a Old Ganesha temple just before the fort. The nearby pond makes it look beautiful. On the way and atop you'll find ruins of the fort. There is some history associated with this place that dates back to some 500 years. A must visit for trekkers, in and around Bangalore.

A trek worth the adventure and the breathless view! The adorning ranges of hills, lakes and a cloudy sky. The view from the peak is sure an eye candy. The trek is moderate and is difficult in some part of the climb which is steep. Avoid going to this trek on rainy days as it's really slippery during rain. The best day to visit this peak is on a partly cloudy day. While descending also the steep part is hard to climb down so make sure one has proper support. Carry adequate water. Nearby to the fort ruins is a small lake ideal for relaxation during the trek. The locals say crocodiles live there but we couldn't spot any. It's a trek worth remembering. Cheers!

Channarayana Durga is an absolute gem for adventure seekers and nature lovers. The steep rock climb adds an exciting challenge to the trek, making it a memorable experience. The panoramic views from the top are absolutely stunning, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape. A kind and patient dog guided me from the parking lot to the hilltop and back. This canine companion stayed with me throughout the trek, displaying remarkable loyalty and companionship. Their presence added a unique charm to the entire experience, turning a memorable trek into an unforgettable one. The bond forged with this four-legged guide is a testament to the incredible connections we can make in the most unexpected of places. The trek is moderately challenging, so make sure to wear sturdy footwear and carry enough water. It's advisable to go with a guide or as part of an organized group, especially if you're not experienced in such terrain. Overall, Channarayana Durga is a must-visit destination for those seeking adventure and a deeper connection with nature and history. Highly recommended!

Channarayana Durga is a hill fort near to madhugiri, Tumakuru district, Karnataka. It is approximately 100 km from Bengaluru. The fort was constructed by a local king (Paalegaara) Chikkappa Gowda, who was ruling the Madhugiri and surrounding areas. It is a hilltop fort near Madhugiri in Tumkur district of Karnataka. There are few temples and old structures inside the fort. Channarayana Durga trek can be classified as moderate. During the monsoons, this initial trek would be difficult as the smooth rock would become slippery. The trek to Channarayana Durga is quite interesting and there are no signboards with very few tourists visiting. It takes about a half day to trek to the top and explores the fort. The best time to visit Channarayana Durga is from September to December. The average elevation is 3,730 feet

Nice trek. Small but quite steep in the beginning. Bring atleast one water bottle per person. Trekking shoes, sunscreen and rain coat will help you a great deal. Since the beginning of trek will cause exertion, have a very light meal before, preferably fruits like banana.

One of the tough treck around Bangalore. For first half, it is really steep. There is just rock without any support. Better to avoid when it's raining as it will be slippery. The lake in between is beautiful and calming. You will see many fishes. On top there isn't much but view is worth it.

It's an awesome experience. Best place to hangout for a day. It's an easy level of trekking. Can spend 5hours over there . View in the top is mind blowing. You can get a view of all the hills around there. If you have vehicles you can park in the village and can move. You will get a small pond near to top. No entry fee to go.

It is one of the forts around Tumkur and one among the nava Durga forts(9 forts) around Bangalore. It is approx 110 km from Bangalore, best place for the day hiking. Visited this place in early morning will be scenic and good. Pls avoid visiting this place during the rains and moonsoon season, because initial part of the hike is steep, descending will be adventurous and risky, and also plan accordingly also carry enough water because these is no water source in the fort and you need to reach the village for the water and also eatables. Also advise, kindly visit atleast with 2 members and avoid going solo to this place.

Nearly 2 hours drive from Nelamangala and near Madhugiri .. It takes nearly 2 hours to reach the summit/Top, the first half of the trek is a steep slope and not advisable to trek during rain as it becomes more slippery. There is no dedicated parking lot but you can park anywhere under the shades in the village. Once you reach the top you will get to the amazing for and also the breathtaking view of other hills (including Madhugiri peak)

Beautiful place. Must be carful when it’s rains to climb or get down as granite rock of fort will be slippery. It’s better to trek with bare foot to keep traction

Good trek on mid difficulty level. Don't visit when it's raining as the rock surface will be slippery.
