Don't leave yourself trapped inside the house, go out to know the world .. Know the nation, the group, know their heritage ..... Hold on to your own traditions, respect the traditions of others. This ethnological museum in Chittagong is such a museum where you can find out the different ethnic groups of Bangladesh and Pakistan, their heritage, their way of life, their daily life ......... Come on in, take a look and enjoy yourself! Note: You must keep the museum clean and tidy, do not throw dirt there .. Do not touch anything .. Don't do anything that conflicts with anyone's honor .................

Loved the place . Most underrated museum in bangladesh from my point of view. Its second big ethological museum in the world. The big one located in japan. In this museum you will be able to see all types of ethnic group particularly in south asia portion. However you will not be able to see their life movement but also the dress and ornaments uses. It will certainly make you more knowledgeable when you see this type of collections. Most informative museum i think. You must visit this place at once you come to CTG.

Ethnological Museum is a unique treasure house, consisting of variety of tribal culture and heritage of Bangladesh. The Ethnological Museum of Chittagong was established in the first half of nineteen sixties. Inside the museum, there are 4 galleries and a small hall. This is considered as the only ethnology museum in Bangladesh which displays the lifestyles and heritage of 37 ethnic groups and four foreign countries. The Bangladeshi ethnic groups includes Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Chak, Tanchangya, Murong, Khumi, Garo, Bawm, Pankho, Lusai, Khyang, Monipuri, Khashia, Oraon, Hajong, Mandai, Dalue, Hodi, Bona, Polia, Koch, Rajbangshi, Santal, Munda, Ho and many more. This museum not only preserving the past, but also growing and developing in line with the growth and development of the country, and therefore documenting the present for future generations to look back on its reflection.

One of the most cultural enriching attractions in the city of Chittagong is the Ethnological Museum. It is a museum that preserves the past, but also grows and develops in line with the growth and development of the country, and is therefore documenting the present for future generations to look back and reflect on. The Ethnological Museum is one of the most specialized museums in Bangladesh and is a symbol of unity and progress. It is here where all the tribes of Bangladesh, past and present come together, to educate the public and promote understanding and tolerance of each other. Inside the Ethnological Museum, visitors will be taken through the ages, discovering the development of the twelve tribes in Chittagong and the twenty nine ethnic groups that are found in Bangladesh. The eleven galleries in the museum bring these tribes to life through breathtaking paintings, models, environment reconstruction, maps, photographs and a variety of items. Each display has a plaque that describes the tribes and gives background information to explain the exhibit to visitors. Some of the items on display include weaponry, vases, weaving, clothing, boats, scissors, bamboo pipes, wooden shelves, and ornaments. The museum has also been extended to include tribes that are located in India, Australia and in Pakistan. The Ethnological Museum is therefore a comprehensive look into the people of Bangladesh and how each tribe used to live, play and practice traditions. It also documents the growth and development of the people of Bangladesh and will continue to enhance their exhibits as these tribes head towards the future.

Welcome to Ethnological Museum of Chittagong, Bangladesh! Take a virtual tour with the moments that I captured during my visit. The museum is located in Agrabad circle of Agrabad Commercial Area. It cost around BDT 20/- for an adult ticket (for foreigners, the cost is higher) to enter the museum. The frontline of the museum is decorated with gardens and inside of the museum is decorated with different ethnographic clothing and home accessories which were used during their time. The museum’s wall and interior needs much attention to modify since it looks old and decaying. The lighting system inside the museum should also be upgraded!

By the time we got to the museum, there were probably load shedding going on. Most of the rooms inside were covered with dim light. Most of the items on display were dirty and covered in dust. It looked as if no one had cleaned them for a long time. Authorities should be more vigilant in improving the quality of this archive that preserves valuable information about the ethnic history of Bangladesh and It's various tribal communities. Besides, the general visitors also need to be aware of protecting the environment of the museum. I can't hell mentioning tge fact that I felt a bit awkward and almost embarrassed to see some young couple entering the museum for the purpose of dating that occured in front of our eyes and made the environment embarrassing to walk around. 🙄😅 The ticket price is only 20৳ The museum is open from 2-5 pm everyday except govt holidays and weekends.

A less known but very important museum of Bangladesh. This is one of the only 2 Ethnological museums in Asia. Another one is in Japan. This museum displays the lifestyle of more than 29 tribes that lived across Bangladesh. That include the hilly tribes like Chakma, Marma, Murong, Saotaal, Khasia and some foreign tribes like Pathan, Sindhi, Kirgiz, Austral etc. A great place for general audience and researchers.

The museum is divided into many rooms, each representing a different tribe. Given the proximity to the Hill Tracts, this is an appropriate location for a museum of this type. Unfortunately, the displays need up-dating. There is very little to help you figure out the differences between the tribes. But as a catalog of all the different clothing, tools, ornaments, housing styles, etc, this museum is quite thorough.

An interesting museum that as the name describes goes into history of the different tribes found in the borders borders of Bangladesh and beyond. It was built in in 1960's so it also lists tribes from what is now Pakistan as this was before the split in 1971. As it's over 50 years old and basically not changed there are certain displays which let's say are questionable. Nonetheless it gives an interesting overview. 1 thing of note is I was given a guided tour without been given a choice where I was asked for a "donation" at the end.

Ethnological Museum or in Bengali it sounds "Jatitattik Jadughar" is one of the oldest and extraordinary collection of ethnic and primitive things. This is perhaps one of oldest place to visit in Chittagong sight seeing purpose though might not be eye catching from the inside but the museum is beautifully decorated from the outside. I do recommend who wants to know the historical movements or information they should have a visit over this museum. Happy Visiting !!

One of the best & rich museum for introduce the lifestyle of the indigenous peoples from Bangladesh, Aisa & from Australia...many different household stuffs & cloths are kept in the different glass box with the information. The Ethnological Museum of Chittagong is the only ethnological museum in Bangladesh. Located in Agrabad, Chittagong, it contains displays featuring the history of Bangladesh's tribal people. The museum was established in 1965 and opened to the public in 1974. Two rooms were added to the museum during 1985–1995. In 1996, a gallery with folk articles of Bengali-speaking people was added. This collection of tribal accoutrements could be so much more. This is a very nice place. Where ideas about the whole tradition are found. The entrance fee here is 20 rupees per person. Visitor time different on seasonal time (winter/Summer). (October to March. April to September)

Interesting trip to the museum but it is very outdated and the content needs to be modified. A lot of the exhibits were straight up racist and inaccurate, so contents of the museum needs to be updated urgently. Even though the facade and the grounds used to be beautiful, the museum is very underfunded and poorly maintained. There's a lot of potential here and I hope the authorities will take some action! Different types of Indigenous Peoples used items(e.g. household items, hunting equipment etc), their culture, cultural functions, clothing can be found here. There is a center board that contains the life history of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman according to year (with his sign after the word "জয় বাঙলা") Off day: Sunday & gazetted government holiday. Timings are different for the summer & winter seasons. (Ensure the timing from photo) Entry fees: • Bangladeshi visitors 20/- and 5/- for students (up to high school level) • SARC country's visitors 100/- • Foreign visitors 200/-

(Translated by Google) One of the two notable ethnographic museums in Asia is located in Japan and the other in Chittagong. The location of the ethnographic museum in Chittagong is one of the largest in size and scope of collection. It is a museum with the history and heritage of various small ethnic groups and tribal peoples of Bangladesh. These tribal communities have their own customs, rituals, way of life. They differ greatly from the mainland of a country. The Ethnic Museum of Ethnicity has been established and plays a significant role in understanding the daily life, culture and customs of these small ethnic groups and in nurturing mutual understanding and humanitarian position with them. The museum is decorated with the history and various materials of the tribal community. The museum was established in 1985 on a 1.25 acre land adjacent to the Badamtali junction in the Agrabad commercial area of Chittagong. It was established on the initiative of the Department of Archeology of Bangladesh and in 1974 it was allowed for public inspection. The life style of 29 anthropological groups is displayed here in 11 exhibition rooms. (Translated by Google) Very nice place to learn about Bangladesh and the tribes living in it. However, it seems that the authorities lack care. Things get dirty, rust. Even the clothes kept for the exhibition are eaten by insects. Those who are in charge feel without their bodies. There is no vision. Despite the ban, everyone is walking with bags and taking photos. Maybe it will be better if you take a little care ... ।।
