A lovely place to visit at Bangladesh. The backwater villages of Barisal, Jhalakathi offers lots of guavas in the season and villagers gather in the specific area to sell their products by boat. It is unique because the whole market is situated on water. It is the only floating market in Bangladesh and everybody should pay a visit to this place.

Aha this is the place..... I like it most, historical but not that much publicity about it even three years before but now so many people come & explore this place. Huge market but not only Guava but also other fruits, crops trade here. But facility for tourist very poor. No modern washroom, no good restaurants available here. Trading time early morning to 11am maximum.

This is a Historic Local market. The Pick time is the Rainy Season while guava found. After this season, the bazar will remain open but it become small. In this time it's trading seasonal fruits, vegetables. The floating market consists of three small bazar Athgrar, Kuriana and Vimrili. Among these, Vimruli is the biggest one. Transportation: Dhaka - Barisal - Atghar-kuriana-Vimruli Dhaka - Jhalokhati - Vimruli

One of the most beautiful tourist spots in southern part of Bangladesh. During rainy season, many tourists visit the place to see and enjoy the nature. There is a floating guava market and many guava gardens beside the river. Anyone can enjoy a boat journey and buy guavas (with a cheap price) from the market. The calmness of the nature will refresh your mind and give you internal peace.

So the name of the market is "Vimruli Floating Guava Market" Its stands on a narrow lake. all the guava garden are close and connected with this market by narrow canal. besides of guava, there you find lemon, banana, pumkin, etc. also. All the goods are pure and ultra fresh. Per KG of guava is around 10-15 BDT(whole sale). Many tourists comes here for refreshment. Also you know about the lifestyle of this area people.

The floating guava market is mainly located in a village called Bhimruli. The village is a part of Swarupkathi Upazila in Pirojpur District. You can easily go there by road from Barisal City, passing through Jhalakathi and directly stopping at Atghar Kuriana (at Swarupkathi, Pirojpur). You will find many wooden boats and various types of trawlers waiting there to take you into the villages. You are surrounded by water and hundreds of boats filled with guavas. If you look above, you can see the blue sky with grey hues. The place is so serene that it feels calm, no matter how much noise you make. But, don’t make noises though. Its origins are unknown, but locals suggest that it has been around for over a century now.

Amazing place. It feels like I'm in another planet. The path is also like I am in my childhood dream. I would like to go there again and again. We have visited there in quite of season. We couldn't able to buy guava from floating bazaar because they don't sell in a small amount. They sell the whole basket. We had to invest more money or nearby same as we have to in our local market. Whatever the test is amazing. I'm in love with the place.

Excellent place to visit during the 'Guava Season'. Just book/hire a boat and enjoy the 'Floating Guava Market'. Boat charge may vary 300-500 tk. During rainy season be cautious. You must try the Guava, its very testy.

In the border areas of Jhalkathi, Barisal, and Pirbajpur, the largest guava garden on the Asian continent has been established. Barisal is home to a stunning location. The largest “Vashoman Peyara Bazar” in Bangladesh is located in Bhimruli, 15 kilometers from Jhalkathi district city (Floating Guava Market). This floating guava market in Bhimruli is surrounded on three sides by the canal. The pair’s peak season is July and August, but the market occasionally extends into September. The best time to visit the floating guava market is during the month of August. After 11 a.m., the Guava Market population begins to diminish, therefore it is preferable to arrive before 11 a.m. By visiting the backwater, you may also see the charming appearance of the canal’s buildings, schools, bridges, and roadways. If you’d like, you can stroll along the canals hand-in-hand, and if it rains, the landscape becomes even more stunning with its natural beauty. On the way, sample the hot rosgulla at the Rituparna shop in Kuriyana Bazar, then have lunch at bhabhi’s hotel in the market. On your journey to Barisal from floating Guava Bazar, you can visit Guthia Masjid and Durgasagar Dighi.

Guava Floating Market in Pirojpur: Farmers use Kuriana canal in Pirojpur to get to floating markets with their boats loaded with guava. During the monsoon boats are often used to harvest the fruit as well. Kuriana is one of the 49 villages in Barisal, Pirojpur, and Jhalakathi that come up with 80 percent of Bangladesh's guava production. Hundreds of people of those villages have seen financial independence cultivating guava on 30,000 acres of land.

The largest floating guava market can be found in Barishal, otherwise called Bengal's Venice. Apart from business purposes, if you need a break from your hectic schedule, just visit the 200-year-old floating guava market. The Floating Market The southern part of Bangladesh is known for its guavas, often known as 'Bengal's Apple.' Farmers in Pirozpur rely largely on guava growing, particularly in Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila, Swarupkathi, and Banaripara Upazila. The floating guava market is found mostly at Bhimruli, Atghar, and Kuriana in Pirojpur's Swarupkathi Upazila. On 31,000 acres of land, 20,000 households from 26 communities cultivate guava. About 60 per cent of the local guava market need is supplied from here. The guavas are brought in boats by dealers and sold wholesale for Tk 250 – 300 every 40 kg. The market opens early in the morning and closes in the evening. Though the guava market stays open every day of the week, the best time to visit is during the guava season (July-August). The Bhimruli Market typically remains busiest between 12 noon and 3:00 pm.  Therefore, getting to the market by 11 AM is better, as the crowd thins out after that time. Special features of the market Swarupkathi's village Bhimruli has been a tourist attraction in recent years since travellers have discovered this place recently. The Boat Market here at Atghar, Kuriana is another key appeal. However, the boat market was only held on Mondays and Wednesdays. Guthia Mosque is also worth a visit. At the northernmost end of the market, there is a little bridge that crosses the canal. It can be considered a watch tower because the entire market can be seen very well from that place. The picturesque beauty and surroundings around the market may convey you to Thailand or Venice in the heartland of Bengal. Furthermore, the rain enhances the beauty of the surroundings. Nothing surpasses the magnificence of the floating market when you arrive in Bhimruli; the interconnecting rivers, the boats loaded with guavas, and the luxuriant foliage on both ends of the canal make you feel like you've entered a piece of heaven.

The floating market appears as the center of Barisal’s (aka The Venice of Bengal) beauty. Nobody knows when the idea of this floating market began, but it’s a hundred-year-old tradition. Development and modernization are taking over the country but it’s surprising to see them not reaching this river-oriented life yet. For more than 100 years, the local farmers have been experiencing the ups and downs of life along with the ebb and flow of the river. Many farmers and wholesalers gather here every day. Not the only guava, but there are also other fruits sold in this market. The southern region of Bangladesh is famous for guavas, more popularly known in Bangladesh as ‘Bengal’s Apple’. Especially in Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila and at Swarupkathi and Banaripara Upazila in Pirozpur, farmers heavily rely on guava farming. Such diversity of life is hard to be found in other places in the country. Loss in guava farming in one season usually leads to extreme distress for the farmers throughout the year. The current year is one of those.

The rural environment, the river, the thousands of guava trees and the boat-filled guava are a wonderful place.
