This may seem a bit strange to say but it is far easier to give a damning or critical review than it is to give one that contains nothing other than praise and compliments! We were a tiny bit concerned given that they have a lot of reviews and some of the more recent ones have been a bit variable. However, we are grateful we decided to visit. We were greeted very politely and shown immediately to a spacious outdoor pod with a decently powerful overhead heater (this was given a test when there was a sudden blustery gusting few minutes of wind - full marks for the heater). Great outdoors seating and pods - all very neat and comfortable. Service throughout was pleasant and done politely with a smile. Right through to settling the bill everything was carried out efficiently and happily. Not to forget the reason for our visit the food was good quality as well as being served fairly speedily and absolutely piping hot. They even had french mustard available - which is a test of the quality of most pubs or restaurants who serve meat dishes. There, obviously, has to be one issue which was the chips were rather puddingy - rather more boiled than deep fried! After all of this the toilets were absolutely spotless and fresh smelling but the single electric hand drier in the gents failed to work. Overall full marks for ambiance, atmosphere, staff efficiency and food quality. Thanks.

Lovely place. Reasonably busy Wednesday evening without a booking and seated straight away. X food/drinks delicious and service with smiles. Had to go to reception to get cutlery, and 2 other tables around us had to ask for cutlery also, so that was the only point to make, but not an issue.

After remembering how much I enjoyed this pub we visited again for lunch. Let's hope I dont leave it as long between visits again. The pizzas have always been very tasty and did not disappoint. I also thoroughly enjoyed my sundae for dessert. I left feeling very full indeed.

What a beautiful country pub. The White Lion is a gem and you should 100% pay a visit. We have had several meals and business meetings here. Their famous breakfast will have you spoilt for choice. The outdoor garden area is perfect for a sunny day! Great friendly staff. Would highly recommend

Our first visit to The White Lion wasn't a disappointment. The food was served in a lovely clean dining area with friendly and professional staff. There is a good choice of food. We had the steak and ale pie and a 10 oz steak. The food is first class.

Really great food as always from the White Lion. Really enjoyed it. It was quick and very hot, can tell it was prepared and not heated. Thank you for the dessert menu too! 😊. Staff and management were lovely and always are. Thanks for making my tea, quick, simple and more importantly delicious!! Will be returning again and again. 😊😊

We absolutely love coming in for breakfast on Sundays. We usually have Annabel serve us and she's absolutely brilliant, really funny and goes the extra mile. The fact she recognises us and seems genuinely interested in us is so lovely and we feel so welcome. For example she said to us this morning 'Have you been volunteering again this morning?' we'd forgotten we'd even mentioned that we volunteer before we come for breakfast and the fact she remembered was fantastic. The breakfast food is always lovely, great produce and quick service. It's lovely to sit by the fire and really relax. The fact it's dog friendly and they even have a doggy breakfast ticks all our boxes. The only thing that would make it better would proper fresh orange juice.

We went for a late lunch/early tea. We booked for 3-30 pm. It's a good job that we didn't just turn up. It was really busy! It was Saturday afternoon at the beginning of December. There was a group of about 16 people near us celebrating a birthday I think. It's bigger than it first appears. There's an outside eating/drinking area. A decent sized car park. Good menu, reasonable prices. The food was good, service with a smile. Wheelchair accessible. Child friendly. We will definitely return.

The Pub has amazing food however the Hostess acted like she couldn't be bothered showing us to our table. The person who took our drinks order forgot to actually bring them to us. If it wasn't for Chloe, who actually took our food order and served us from then on, we probably would have walked out. Chloe was very polite and gave us helpful information about the surrounding area. We came from out of town and Chloe was simply amazing.

First time we have visited here and won't be the last. The food was amazing and such a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were lovely and it is super dog friendly. You definitely need to book as it's always busy.

Been on a couple of visits now. Once for a birthday breakfast and today an impromptu visit on a cycle ride. Both times the staff were really friendly and the service, food and atmosphere were excellent. Will definitely be planning more visits here.

This place used to be really good where we would frequently go. In the last couple of years the food seems to have lost its way a bit. Maybe it's a victim of its own success. The pub is lovely and the outside area has improved this enormously. The bar has a great selection as does the food menu. I understand the pub gets super busy all day but the food seems to have no passion in it that it deserves here. I had a bbq ribs special which I normally love. On this occasion they were dry and almost meatless. My family were unimpressed also especially as it was a special occasion. The service wasn't the best either. We waited a long time and weren't offered drinks until later. We would normally have had sweets but thought we'd be waiting a long time so left early. Hopefully it was a one off but I'm not sure as it had dipped last time we were there.

Wow!! I had the chicken fajita and my partner had the gluten free haddock. Food was amazing we will definitely be returning. Recommend booking a table here before arriving as the venue was very popular. Staff were attentive and had a gluten free menu available. This venue is also dog friendly with a dog menu with treats!

Been twice this year and can't fault the food, well if I was being picky I'd say they need to source better black pudding. But that's the only criticism I'd have. Staff are spot on as well always happy to help.
