Vadakara, also known as Badagara, is a town located in the Kozhikode district of the Indian state of Kerala. It is situated on the Malabar Coast and is known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty. Vadakara has a significant historical importance as it was one of the main centers of trade and commerce during the medieval period. It was an important port town and played a crucial role in the spice trade between India and foreign countries. The town has witnessed the influence of various civilizations and dynasties, including the Chera dynasty, the Zamorins of Calicut, and the British. The town is home to several historical landmarks and attractions. The Vadakara Fort, built by the Portuguese in the 15th century, is a major tourist attraction. The fort offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and is surrounded by lush greenery. Another notable landmark is the Lokanarkavu Temple, dedicated to the goddess Durga. This ancient temple is believed to be more than 1,500 years old and attracts devotees from all over. Vadakara is also known for its beautiful beaches, such as Payyoli Beach and Kappad Beach. These beaches offer serene surroundings and are perfect for relaxation and leisure activities. Payyoli Beach is famous for being a nesting ground for Olive Ridley turtles, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The town has a vibrant cultural scene, with various festivals and events celebrated throughout the year. The Vadakara Kottamkuzhi Pooram is a grand festival held at the Lokanarkavu Temple, featuring traditional music, dance performances, and colorful processions. The Theyyam performances, a unique form of ritualistic dance-drama, are also popular in Vadakara. Vadakara is well-connected to other parts of Kerala and neighboring states through road and rail networks. The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport, which is approximately 60 kilometers away. Overall, Vadakara offers a blend of historical significance, natural beauty, and cultural experiences, making it an interesting destination for tourists and travelers.

Recently renovated. Large enough to carry the current crowd. There are a couple of seating available and the platform is covered for bad weather. There is no toilet facilities available at platform 2 even though platforms 1 is just walkway. There are good number of food joints there in this platform.

There is a good parking area also belongs to this station. Taxis will be available all the time (less during the night time). This station has 2 platforms for passenger trafic and a dedicated 3rd one for logistics purpose. It has free Google WiFi also for the passenger usage. Vatakara Police station and Trafic Police station are few meters away. There is no security issue to passenger, who goes in and out of this station during night time.
