I have mixed feelings about zoos but I can say that this small zoo is clean and well maintained. The animals appear to be well cared for and did not seem to be suffering. It makes for an enjoyable and affordable family outing. Bring a picnic and enjoy the rest of what Applegate park has to offer. A true gem in the middle of Merced.

This is a tiny zoo. It’s mostly filled with domestic animals. There isn’t much to do or see. It’s hard to see the animals with the type of fencing they used. The zoo is mostly a petting zoo but there were no open petting areas. The gift shop wasn’t opened. The staff were grumpy. Though this is the first zoo I’ve seen bears at and they acknowledge their resident kitty cats.

Nice park for a shady/ cloudy day. I can see it will be super hot when it gets hotter out. Kids had fun. There was trash everywhere.

I came here on a Saturday and it was very enjoyable. There is an entry fee for the zoo but it's very cheap. ($3 for adults) The zoo is kind of small but still nice. The animals seem well taken care of and the walkways are clean. This is a good place to visit for people with children or anyone who likes animals.

Great for toddlers. Enough to look at but short and sweet enough for their attention span. Animals seemed more lively than most big zoos (we went early). There is usually a petting area but closed due to covid.

Great little walk through zoo, especially for the littles. Bears are currently awaiting a new larger enclosure too.

Good value and nice place to stop for a while. Seems like a really good option for parents of younger kids that won't last long for a large, expensive zoo experience.

Cute little place, not very big but a great place to take the kids. There are some neat looking animals. I wish they put up how they got those animals and their stories but that's all right. Takes an hour maybe less depending on how fast you walk. Beautiful landscaping around the pins.

Very quiet. Only one young family there. It was hot so the animals were quiet too. This is a quaint hometown zoo. Look at the animals, then go home, learn more about them, then visit again. A nice variety. Staff were friendly and helpful. The landscaping was suffering from the heat but still VERY NICE. There were some very interesting plants I had not seen before. Not interested in animals, the plants were great too! Seniors $2

Cute little rescue zoo. This was a great place to stop and stretch our legs on our way through. The animals are well cared for and there is quite a variety to look at, there's even a cat walking around. We walked around twice, you could spend as little as 20 minutes here seeing everything. Sometimes you can buy food to feed some animals but they only have a certain among avaliable each day.

Self Christmas tour. Inexpensive entrance fee, and we were given free hot coco with marshmallows. They really should make this event earlier in the month and day, so all can see the animals better.

It's a little zoo but nice, plenty of shady spots to sit, and easy to see it all in about half hour. If you want to feed the goats and llamas you should go early day and buy the little dollar cup at the entry gate, they sell only a limited amount daily.

It was full of shade clean and relaxing although the roads that lead there were awful full of potholes crackling and crumbling something needs to be done about this I don't know how the city is not aware that these roads are awful probably the worst in the country.

Went for Christmas event it was amazing. Lights and blow ups everywhere. Santa, Miss Claus, and an elf made an appearance. They also had fake snow along with other things. Really well done.

Wonderful little zoo/park. Had spider monkeys raised for the challenged. Also a wallaby. One of my favorite places on Earth. Lived a couple of blocks from there while in the U.S.A.F. and while going to Merced College. Wish I was still there. Thanks for letting me see it again.

This was our first time at the park. I went with my four Grandchildren (ages 4, 6, 8 and 10). The playground was very nice but the picnic table area and bathroom were dirty. The kids had alot of fun on the rides which were surprisingly inexpensive. The zoo was also reasonably priced. It was small but the kids enjoyed looking at the animals. We plan on coming back next month but I plan on going a little early and cleaning up the picnic area before my Grandchildren arrive.

We took the grandkids to the zoo. There's not a lot of different animals here. A fox, 2 monkeys, lots of different birds, some chickens, a pig, and some goats. The boys had a great time feeding the goats they got too close, and the goats ate the cup. We walked down to the kiddieland, but it was closed. The internet said it would be open, but nope. Walked on down to the playground that was nice and clean.

Great zoo back when my business before rebranding to Skylars Techs, LLC from Arndt So Handy, my company had done alot of repairs and touch ups around the zoo. For its small size don't let it fool you there are actuality alot to be seen, your kids will love the broad scope of animals that they have available to be seen.

This is the kind of zoo where you get to know the animals personally. It's the kind where the zookeepers are as much a part of the attraction. It is cozy. (Shhh. You can feed them but maybe shouldn't?). Except the goats. Oh, and one of the llamas was in with the goats. Good luck petting that. They do warn you, they spit. It's not a zoo to just visit. It's a zoo to drop in at every week. I go to visit my girlfriend, Java the raccoon regularly. She's into the smell of my blueberry vape. She's sweet on me.

We used the rotary scout hut. It is NOT wheelchair accessible. With one guest in a wheelchair and another on crutches, this was a real problem. Otherwise it was a great facility.

Definitely a place to visit. It is just a really nice small zoo to take kids or go on a second date or just stroll for a couple of hours. It is not expensive whatsoever, and the animals all look well taken care of. We saw the coyote howl, we fed the goats and alpacas, saw the monkeys play around.

Definitely enjoy the upgraded toys at the park. Wish folks cleant up after themselves but a part from that I enjoy it. But always caution considering the area🙏🏾

My Grandson and I had so much fun! First, we visited the zoo, decked out for Halloween with live mermaids and a friendly shark roaming about. Next, he rode every ride in the kiddie amusement park, then made his way to the play structures in the park. He was making friends as he played, finding a little buddy to share a second round of rides in the amusement park. For lunch we found a picnic table under a shady tree, staying cool while we enjoyed our sandwiches. It was our first time at this park, but we'll definitely go again.

Always a great time at the zoo. My daughter loves it. If we lived in a bigger town that had a really big zoo me and my daughter would have like season passes or something or be members. If Applegate zoo would let us be members or had a membership we would be ones.

It's peaceful here. Animals look well kept. I think I like it as much as my 5year old granddaughter. It's a little small but we went around a couple of times then over to the nice park.
