Its an old house converted into a hotel.. location is not that far from the main Street or toy train station ..can be walked easily. Food is good though limited options. No air conditioning, only fans. But we didn't feel uncomfortable even though we went in scorching summer. Nice place to explore if one wants to try out a different kind of experience at Matheran

Very nice heritage property.. That's why there are no ceiling fans, Only table fans and no TV as well. Also with pictures of the owner family members in rooms. Covers wide areas around the hotel. Loved the food. The property in little far from the main matheran station/ market..

Away from the main city, asmist the forest this place is the best fit for people looking for some solace. Staff is cordial, food is authentic, just keep it basic (wouldn't recommend ordering anything fancy as it won't be up to the mark.) A total cutoffs from the world due to poor cellular reception and limited wifi facility. Overall, it was an amazing experience for me and my family. P.S: We booked the heritage suite.

Perfect place for a deep dive forest stay. A few things are missing in the property. No music is Veranda, and there is no room service.

Me and my wife had an excellent stay at the property. It is a heritage structure and hence it shows its age. Does need a little restoration, but nothing to complain about. It is located right next to lake charlotte, so a evening walk is to the lake is very nice. Also all the major points are a close 30 min hike. From the main market it is about a 40 min walk. The food and service was excellent particularly the parsi food. Mr Retish, the manager gave us a good history lesson of the house and took good care of us during the stay. Thanks, Swastik

The property is beautiful being ~ 200 years old. The overall guest experience right from onboarding to checkout was very well managed. It was surprisingly on how the SOPs were set so that even with a short working staff they were able to maintain amazing service levels. There is no internet but that leads you to appreciating the property even more. Only suggestion - Work a bit on the entry gate and path while maintaining the heritage aspect

A well maintained heritage property located amidst the forest and close to many viewing points for tourist. Large rooms, long verandah, spacious common room and a large dining table are few remarkable things in this 200 year old building. The food is very homely and the service is amazing. The manager Ratheesh is very helping and provides necessary guidance and support to travel around. Away from the crowds and life hustle this is a peaceful place surrounded by the natural beauty, without TV, tel signal and internet. A perfect place for relaxation and tracking.

Beautiful place and very kind and caring staff. Visited with family a couple of months ago and had to cut short our visit for medical reasons. The concern, empathy and efficiency of the manager Rateesh and all staff members in helping us out was truly extraordinary. Highly recommend this place for its beautiful location in the midst of the forest (handcarts or horses available if the distance is too much), unique heritage structure, and absolutely wonderful manager and staff. The food was very good, too! :)

Nice place in the forest. Location is a an issue as it is very far. Service and food was good. Connectivity a major problem.

The service was very attentive and kind, and the food AMAZING! It’s a bit “rustic” but very charming. This is a very unique hotel, and I recommend you visit here!

Blast from Past! A gorgeous well maintained manor in unspoilt natural setting of Matheran. Service is to the point. Food is delicious. Logistics can be challenging in getting to and exploring matheran but the manager is at hand to help plan it all along. Given the peace and quiet, the best sleep we have had in a long time. Compliments to manager Ratheesh and his key team member Yogesh. We were well looked after. Highly recommended for a weekend of peace and quiet from mumbai.

Excellent stay with the best food. Loved the old British mansion like feel. Staff is super polite. Best in matheran.

Fantastic location, the best food in Matheran but it is out of sync with room furnishing (even considering a classical English Era theme, there are a lot of touches missing). While the hotel is out of cell phone range, what is surprising is that there is no wifi in the rooms and in the common areas ( only available near their office) surely one extra router should not be difficult. Mr Ratish and his team do an excellent job in giving the best service.

Great old world charm; Nestled in the forest, centrally located, fresh air, myriad of singing birds, neat and clean with great hospitality.

Worst hotel not j in Pondicherry or india, but the whole world! I was suffering!!! I thought I should try something new and different and I booked the ‘naturally cooled’ room and realised that its not actually different. There was j a pair of fans and the whole place was a small hut. When I went to sleep, the mosquitoes started feeding on me full on. There were atleast 10 mosquitoes. Then when I complained to them and demanded for a better room, they said that ‘nothing can be done and if you want a better room, you’ll have to pay’. It was 12am at night and I had nowhere to go so I gave 2500 to them and changed my room. In the morning, I had to catch my flight, I realised that this place has no network, no wifi. I stepped out of my room and struggled for network and called them for getting the buggy to pick me up. When I reached the reception and tried to book an uber or ola, they told me that getting an uber to dune is not possible at all. Then I asked them to book their cab and they charged me double the price ola and uber was offering. Upon that, the cab was going to take 30 minutes to come and my flight was going to take off in 2 hours. I have always heard amazing things about Pondicherry but this was the worst experience of my vacation. PLEASE DON’T GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were thr for our anniversary celebration A beautiful place to stay. Manger, Mr. Rateesh was personally involved to provide us all the comfort zone. Location is in the mid of the forest and very close to charlotte lake. Must visit place. Food was really good. They provide lots of options for the same. Especially lasagna, pizza and hot chocolate fudge.

Too far out and too detached. Didn't find the staff much helpful or forthcoming in sharing information about the property, tarrifs, vacancies etc.

A colonial house turned into a 11 room hotel, beautiful location, amazing hospitality, Mr. Ratheesh and the entire staff is very very helpful and the feel of the place is just amazing... Very positive, really lovely for people who want away from the hustle, nearer to the nature... A nostalgic blast into the past!

Great place to unwind and detoxify from the fast paced life that we lead. The entire team led by Ratheesh deserves highest praise for maintaining the service. Great service. Treated me and my family like their own. Would love to visit again soon
