Spear Shack is the place to go. Mark put together a spear gun, had two Hawaiian slings, and knives. He gave us a great run down on how to properly use everything, along with a couple good stories. Great guy and great shop. Thanks again Mark!

Best shop I've ever been to. Mark was great, he stayed open an extra hour for me so I could get there after work and get my gear. Has a wealth of knowledge and more than willing to help you out. He gave me rock bottom prices on everything, helped me with an issue on my gun, and gave me advice on how to tune my gun in the future. Best shop I've ever been to hands down!

Not often will a shop focus entirely on what is best for you instead of what is best for your bottom line. As a new freediver I thought I needed fibreglass fins, which Mark showed me and explained the advantages clearly. Where he separated Spear Shack from the rest was by then candidly explaining that the minor advantage I may gain wouldn't be worth the extra money, recommending instead some significantly cheaper plastic fins. After taking them out the following day and hitting a PB dive, I have to say I owe him one! Gained a customer for life by being honest and fair instead of just taking advantage of a dumb new diver with a credit card and no clue.

Best Free Dive shop around! Mark the owner grew up circumnavigating the world with his family hunting fish, diving in waters most wouldn't consider for 7years. His family returned to San Diego where they acquired the shipchandelry Johnson & Joesph, one of the oldest and best originating in SF. They opened their family business James & Joesph named after the original Captain James Morgan. Mark is far beyond knowledgeable when spear fishing is concerned. He fed his family with his skills. His wisdom, kindness and story keep you wanting to go back to learn more, gear up and dive. If you didn't know, thank him later!

Mark makes gnarly custom spearguns, will work on yours and has lots of great gear. Good pricing and hes flexible. Awesome shop, id highly recommend it. If youre new youll learn a lot and id recommend coming here before you start buying anything because hell tell you straight up whats good and whats not. I look forward to going back.
