This is a very nice gym with amazing equipment, however, it’s unfortunate that it has very poor management. It is connected to the hotel and the hotel management is treating the gym like a stepchild that was left behind. Equipment is not getting the routine maintenance or even the repair they need, the same goes for amenities like showers, sauna, and steam room, the steam room gets out of service frequently and more often it smells weird. Some of the showers’ hoses were broken for a very long time, and some of them didn't turn on. Occasionally you can find a razor lying on the floor. I talked with 3 different employees a few months ago with 2 weeks intervals about the machine getting wobbly when training that requires basic maintenance, nothing changed in 3-4 months. Employees told me that hotel maintenance staff care the least about the gym. AC in the corner has been broken for a few months. When it’s working they cannot decide what temperature to put in for both gym and men's room. One side of the 3rd floor can be in the low 60s and the other in the mid-70s. There are no standards. Rules are not enforced either, a personal trainer opened music from her phone today at 7 am while training her client and forced other members to listen to her music for 30 min while even good music sounds terrible coming out of that tiny speaker in such a large space. Another personal trainer talks over for an hour on the phone while using machines when there's a “designated phone area” on the 3rd floor. Employees should be good examples for others about following the rules but obviously, that is unfortunately not the case here. It is dusty in some places most of the time because there’s no real cleaning getting done. The staff’s shift doesn’t start until the gym opens in the morning. They mop the floors way after the gym gets open when members are training instead of starting it a few hours before it opens. The demographic of the gym started to change as well, there are members appeared recently who are trying to carry “Gold's Gym Culture”, screaming while lifting, and working out with 4-5 people together while speaking loud and obnoxiously taking the spa-like experience away. In short, current hotel management cannot keep up with it, hope it can change and the new one can turn it back to what it used to be.

The best gym in San Diego! There is a great variety of work out and cardio equipment. Including 2 peloton bikes. There is a rooftop lap pool, hot tub and weightlifting area. They also have a lot of different classes you get free with your membership. From yoga, spin, barre, Hitt, Zumba, master swim and more. And they have some of the best instructors in fitness that you could find. Jess, Sharon, Tag, Elyssa, Joseph, Karina, Nia, Allie or Dominic…they will all give you the best workout or stretch you could get at any other much more expensive studio. A++++

Love working out here. Its clean, has a lot to offer as far as equipment, and a lot of great amenities like sauna and steam room, and roof top track and and equipment is nice as well! The only issue I have had is all the guests (non members) who tend to take over the locker room every.single.day. a lot of time these are foreigners, which is fine, but when I'm paying $100+ a month to workout here, it would be nice to enjoy the steam room without young girls yelling and laughing hysterically every evening, and to top it off, they take over a huge section of the locker rooms so you feel uncomfortable if you have to go around them. Overall the gym is nice, but these last few weeks, I have felt less inclined to go because of these packs of non members since they essentially take over the whole locker room and ruin that spa/relaxing vibe. I wish aquavie would handle this problem so that members can feel comfortable.

The gym is amazing. It has four floors in total, and all floors were sparkling clean. The locker rooms are spacious and so are the showers. They give you towels during your visit. Downside of this gym is that people that stay at the hotel get a day pass and hoard the pool (fourth floor.) It's inconvenient to swim when people don't respect the lanes and/or just hang around in the Olympic Pool. I was considering this gym for the sole purpose of swimming. The membership wasn't within my price range ($150/MO.)

This is simply an amazing gym. While I get that a gym membership costing about $150/mo may seem high, not many places offer or even CAN offer what this one does at this price point. The staff is so damn friendly. But, not only friendly, they are truly helpful. From my personal trainer, Jessica, who goes above and beyond in getting my body to where I want it to be (not where she may want it to be), to Omar at the front desk who ALWAYS has a friendly, warm smile and a few kind words. This gym has amazing amenities. The steam room and sauna in the locker room are immaculately clean, the showers are all spotless, and you couldn't ask for cleaner toilet rooms. The porters are literally ALWAYS cleaning. You will never run out of clean gym towels, the spa water on the roof is an amazing touch, and I have literally NEVER used such amazing equipment. Having valet parking on site is so convenient at only $20/mo. I seriously can go on and on. This is just an epic place, with an epic staff. If anyone at the gym sees this, you are all special to me. I came last June insanely out of shape. I was desperate to be healthy. I wanted to LIVE with my husband for a long time, and actually have quality of life. You all, every one, have helped me achieve my goals. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Daniel

Some of the facilities are nice, such as the locker rooms and pool. However the weightlifting equipment is cheap quality, like planet fitness quality. There’s no 2.5 lb plates, no bumper plates, 1 wobbly squat rack in the whole gym. For the $150 dollar a month price it feels like a total scam. However if you come here to want to feel rich then this might be the place for you.

Such a wonderful gem! The staff went over and above to insure that we had a wonderful Wednesday celebrating a spa day for our small group of friends. The amenities were top notch from the pedicure, steam room, showers, and roof top pool service. Grateful for some sunny joy in January right downtown! 😊😊😊 Highly recommend! Can't wait to return!

The staff are great and the overall feel is top class. Super clean. Super modern. Probably the best looking gym in all of San Diego county. But clearly the designer and owners have zero experience in physical fitness. The placement of equipment is absurd, spread across 4 floors. For example: there's zero thought to compound exercises. If you want to work the back, for example, you need to go to one room on the ground floor for deadlifts and machines, then go up to the 3rd floor for later pull-downs and cables, then back to another room on the first floor for heavy dumbbells. Chest workout? Machines on ground floor. Cables on the 3rd floor. Bench presses and dumbells still in a different room back on floor one. If you like running stairs, this might be your place. Downtown office workers don't have time to split their time across 4 floors, which is why other nearby gyms are packed while this one is mostly empty. It also lacks key equipment for lifting while being overstocked with cardio machines. That's super annoying.

This is the first review I have ever written, and it's because this is truly the best massage I have ever gotten. Though I get massages only approx 2 times/year, I make a point to do so when on vacation. I have gotten massages around the world especially in Asia but this was the best. The massage table was heated which makes a huge difference. Alma was so kind and clearly very skilled in various techniques. Though I signed up for a swedish massage, she also used small Thai techniques to stretch out my hips and legs and really focused on the areas that I most wanted to. I was also able to spend time on the sauna, hot tub, and pool following it. Though this massage is not the priciest around, it is more than I would typically like to spend, but it was completely worth it. Thank you so much for a great experience!

I am revising my 5 star review to a 1 star review. The temperature in the gym is nearly 80 degrees. The AC is either off or broken and the management refuse to do anything about it.

Really love this gym and its selection of equipment. Unfortunately over the last few weeks the guy at the front desk is pretty awful. Rude, snarky and makes you feel like you’re interrupting his video game playing at the front desk just to be checked in. I’d expect more from customer service considering this is more of a high standards gym.

I just called on their phone number to get more information about their gym. One guy picked up, and I told him that I'm interested in getting their gym membership. He didn't say hello or anything, he said "it's $200 a month". I also asked if they have a steaming sauna. He said "yes" and hung up. Best service ever.

I just had my first visit to AquaVie yesterday and felt like I was on vacation in my own city. The fitness and wellness center is sparking and immaculate. I was in awe of how regularly they are cleaning the facility and keeping it in tip-top shape. The rooftop is a neat mix of a pool/Jacuzzi, outdoor equipment and a running track. I also attended an outdoor spin class on the roof and love the fresh air and views. AquaVie does a great job of showing off it's ideal location in downtown. There are plenty of lounge chairs to relax in and soak up the sun. The locker room was spacious and had an abundance of lockers with their own programmable codes to lock them. The showers were modern and offered shampoo, conditioner, body wash and shaving cream. And these toiletries all smelled great. The facility is divided into several floors with the pool on the top floor, main gym on the floor below and the locker rooms one floor below the gym. There are a few group classes and I'm hopeful they will be adding more as covid becomes more of a thing of the past. All in all, it was a refreshing visit and I look forward to returning!

Booked a massage through travel zoo. The facility was nice and clean. I had Josh for my massage therapist for my 50 min massage. He was terrific. He was very professional and adjusted the massage to work on my problem areas. He also suggested some stretches to help loosen up my muscles. The travel zoo coupon also came with a glass of sparkling wine and use of the facilities: hot tub, pool and saunas. The whole experience was lovely, highly recommended.

Great facility. Jess was amazing! Her fitness classes were so FUN, and I love Jess' positive energy and smile. The day spa was upscale. Zara is a skilled esthetician, and she did an exceptional job while I received a facial. I loved Karina's Yoga class. She was very detailed in her guidance & yoga demonstrations.

Met Ashley and Joseph at the front desk and they were super friendly and professional. I am visiting from out of town but this may be one of the nicest gyms I have ever been to. Modern machines. Super clean. Everything you need. If I lived here I would be a member in a second.

Joining AquaVie and working with my trainer, Bader, was the best decision I made in 2023! The gym and amenities are high-quality and a wide variety (I love the swimming pool!), the staff are super helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is motivating. The highlight for me was working with Bader - he helped me lose over 60lbs in about 6-7 months, improve my health and diet, and helped me get into the best shape of my life in a way that is sustainable. Bader is without a doubt the best trainer ever! Highly recommend!

Read the negative reviews before you purchase their expensive membership. I wish I did. You will see many complaints about this company's lack of maintenance in the building and this recent storm is a consequence to everyone. They are closed until further notice and it's absolutely ridiculous. They opened one of the rooms with mirrors but it's might as well still be closed because you can't access the gym or locker rooms. It's pretty clear that the priorities of this particular gym are all out of order. They will collect high membership fees and neglect their responsibilities. Very unfortunate I was hoping I found a nice gym to add to my routine but it was a waste of time and money.

Aquavie has created a retreat like gym facility where you are able to workout (with updated equipment), schedule self care (great sport massages) and enjoy the San Diego sun at the rooftop pool/track/outdoor training area all in one place. The team is very kind and their trainers are well equipped to help you reach your goals. I hired Jessica in the New Year and have been incredibly pleased with the results. Not only has she educated me on fitness, but she has kept me accountable, which I greatly appreciate!

This has to be the best kept secret in downtown San Diego. I’m hesitant to post this for that reason. Everyone loves being there. The amenities are incredible and the people who bring it to life know what they’re talking about. If you have gym goals, Ramon, Saul, Eddie, Tim, Christine, Jess; they all know how to get you there without overdoing it, and if you have wellness goals, Veljko, Shelly, Kenia, the whole team; they are experts in active recovery and create an atmosphere that is both relaxing and energetic at the same time. AquaVie makes it easy to invest in yourself, and enjoy the rest. So there you go, I wish someone had told me sooner. Thank you AquaVie!

What a lovely treat! I received a gift card here from friends for a massage & included was the opportunity to use the amenities. The booking was seamless, my therapist, Josh, was amazing -- very knowledgeable, kind & saved my shoulders! Loved the rooftop & wish they had places like this in LA. Will definitely return!

I chose Aquavie over another gym downtown for a few reasons.. The biggest, I live downtown.. as well as the outdoor pool which I prefer for my cardio excersize. A dry and steame suana. Other amenities, a track for running, in door and outdoor excersize equipment. No additional costs to utilize any of the spin, yoga or other random fitness classes ran daily. Plus should I choose to utilize the spa for a massage I get a discount. I can order food easily from the hotel next door right from the gym menu. Endless towels practically over flowing. The whole place gives me the feel of a resort. They open early and close late. Constantly cleaning and keeping the place presentable. Admittedly the cost are around 150 a month without putting any money down. The price goes down if you do though but only byabout 30 dollars. Their are other more basic gyms without a pool or suana or free classes but the pool was a must for me. I push my body pretty hard everyday at work and need a pool for the low impact on my joints. So yes for 30 or 50 bucks you can go to another gym but I am definitely happy to spend the difference considering all the options offered. Also if you ask the gym will give a complimentary day membership to try the out. So do it. You'll be super impressed. I was. Hope my review helps.

My masseuse at the Aquavie spa, Josh, was truly remarkable. He took his time, he was so communicative, and it was genuinely the best massage I’ve ever had. The sweetest human being who is masterful at what he does. I can’t wait to go back and see him because I’ve never had someone so attentively take care of my body. I’m SO grateful for Josh. I've been a member at Aquavie since mid 2020 and have seen all the changes since Covid as it continues to get better and they add more classes! I love all of Jessica's classes especially BARRE! I'm almost always just a tad sore - knowing I've had a great workout. I've also done personal training with Jess which was amazing, she does an excellent job of helping with your goals and curates exercises to fit your needs. I'm also a huge fan of working by the pool when the weather is nice! It's such a beautiful place to hang!

I LOVE AQUAVIE!!! It is incredible...the equipment is new, the space is very bright and expansive, and I've never waited for a machine. The locker rooms are incredibly clean and upscale, with tons of amenities -- big steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge in the locker room, good bath products. Free towel service, robes, and shower sandals. The small fee for laundry makes it easier for me to pop in to work out knowing I'll always have clean clothes there. The rooftop is killer with a jacuzzi, pool for lane swimming AND relaxing, full-size track for outdoor runners/walkers, stationary bikes, row machines, and weight racks. Certain classes are on the roof or in the pool too! Lots of lounge chairs with all-day sun but also umbrellas. There's poolside room service and members get 20% discount on hotel food and beverage and treatments in the actual hotel spa (massage, facial, blah blah). There's often live music in the hotel lobby and I chill there with my laptop. It's a really inclusive space, ego-free, and congenial environment. I don't feel like I need to arrive young and chiseled. I can show up how I am and improve one day at a time...Great community! Parking is quick with valet (so embarrassingly bougie to say, but it helps remove a barrier so I go more!) and not frightening as downtown parking can be, especially on Padres game days. Most importantly, the staff might actually be the best part of the gym. They are friendly and accommodating and just really wonderful. From Shelly the manager and the front desk team like Tim and Joseph to the locker room attendants, everyone is amazing. There are cool group classes with GREAT instructors like Tag and Angelina, all of whom are talented and really kind! Every time I am at AquaVie I feel so grateful and at home. Check it out! You can get a really comprehensive tour and try it out for a day! Truly, my only hesitance to promote AquaVie is that I don't want it to get so overly packed that it feels like a rat race with no access to machines lol... but really I want everyone to have access to a great holistic fitness and wellness community like AquaVie offers!!!

AcquaVie is a wonderful combination of spa and gym. It is luxurious in the way of a spa while being equipped with high-end exercise equipment. I haven't tried the classes yet but intend to. I just had the most unique and BEST massage by Elizabeth here at AquaVie Spa. She was so attentive, made sure the pressure was right for me and worked areas such as my abdomen with a visceral massage that I’ve never had a therapist do before. When I asked her about the technique she was kind enough to write everything down for me to take back home to Atlanta. She even annotated where she found knots and inflamed areas so I could give them to my masseuse (once I find a new one). 100% would recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for a relaxing yet deep massage experience! The facilities are beautiful and well kept and I’m looking forward to coming back to experience the rest of the amenities here.

Beautiful Gym! On the rooftop with all the San Diego Sunshine!!! Great lap pool and hot tub... Inviting lounge chairs and large outdoor workout equipment. Everyone was so gracious and attentive, especially Shelley the Membership Enrollment Manager. She was very kind and asked if I had special needs and what do I really enjoy doing for my workouts. The swim instructor was also very informative, saying his classes are geared to those folks' needs who attend his classes. They even provide Q-tips - so need those after a good swim! All the Best to all the staff and members, someday soon. Que Sera Sera
