Moving to a new city meant moving to a new CrossFit gym for me, and I was very particular about what I wanted and expected out of a gym. Imperial Beach CrossFit had great reviews and good options for payments, especially when one needs to freeze a membership. But let me tell ya, the best part about this gym is the welcoming and encouraging atmosphere Danny creates. Regardless of your fitness level or skills, he makes you feel important and ensures your needs are met in order to get the most out of the work outs. More importantly, he is truly invested in each member by helping them map out and achieve their goals. It's a positive and nurturing environment; come on out and experience it!

I didn’t do CrossFit before I started coming to IB CrossFit but my husband did and was encouraging me to try it with him. Joe taught me so much! He’s so great at teaching you correct technique, keeping you safe and pushing you at the right pace. I never knew how much I’d love the sport-like elements of CrossFit. What’s awesome is our classes have all levels! You aren’t separated, you simply scale based on your current ability. Everyone works out together, beginner to CrossFit junkie. The community here is like no other place around. A lot of us are military or military spouses but not everyone and the support and comradery here is so strong. Everyone roots for each other, everyone has beers together. It’s the best gym in IB and the best gym I’ve ever gone to. I have had a hard time sticking to workout programs or going to a gym consistently in the past, not here! This place is the perfect combination of challenge, intensity, and fun! Some workouts are grueling but for some reason, they are addicting. I had no confidence with real strength training before Coach Joe. Now, I really enjoy it and like to compete with myself from week to week. I moved here when we were stationed here and knew no one. I met great friends here. Everyone was so welcoming. The CrossFit pros to the person just trying to get back in shape were all welcoming and handing me a beer after a hard workout in a Friday! One huge perk for me is working out outside if I want to! The gym has a hug sliding door so people can workout inside and out and I love being able to workout outside!!! Classes aren’t too big! Everyone gets coaching during every class. I really cant say enough good things! You should try it out!

Solid spot! Joe was super cool and welcoming! The box and the environment gave me and old school feel and I dig it. If I’m back in IB I will definitely be back!

I’ve lived in Imperial Beach since 2008 and never felt a real sense of community until joining F3 Athletics. This place is my home away from home -- and I only live a few blocks away! I tried multiple gyms before joining F3 and now can’t imagine working out anywhere else. I was brand new to CrossFit when I joined and definitely had some misconceptions about the sport. I was offered a free month of training to help learn the basic movements and decide if the program was a good fit before making a commitment. The workouts are always different, so there’s no change of getting bored. That’s what got me hooked! Over the past year this place has helped me gain a greater level of self-confidence and discover muscles that I never thought I had. Several times per year the gym hosts “HERO” workouts in honor of those who gave their lives to keep us and our country safe. On Memorial Day I joined the “Murph” workout in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28th, 2005. It was probably the hardest workout I have ever completed but the atmosphere at the event, and the motivation and encouragement from the coaches and other participants, kept me going. F3 also hosted a “Fit for Fido” event that raised over $3K for a local dog rescue and this September they are hosting another community event to raise awareness of veteran suicide. I work in the nonprofit field and it amazes me how much this small business does to give back and to support their members. The people here have not only become my friends, but my family. That’s what keeps me coming back almost every single day.

Best gym I've ever been a part of hands down. Everyone is super friendly, there are multiple time slots throughout the day so you can go at your convenience and if you're new to crossfit like I am Danny and the rest of the coaches are super patient and super helpful. They really help you work towards your goals in the safest most effective way. Oh and it's so close to the beach that sometimes we have beach wods!

One of the best decisions I've made was joining this gym. The trainers are knowledgeable ,friendly and all around good people. I can't imagine training anywhere else. And their class times fit just about anyone's schedule. If you're interested in a gym I strongly suggest you give F3 Athletics a try,you won't be disappointed.

I Joined this gym a while back. out of hundreds of good gyms, the best one I've even stepped foot on. Crossfit changed my life in many different ways, from lifestyle to mentality. The community is great. The owner is the coolest guy you'll ever meet. Everything I walk trough the door the coaches always have a work out to challenge all of their members. Perfect for anyone looking to work out, from people who've never done crossfit to people who do it everyday. Definitely worth checking it out !

Customer service has gotten better. Stock assortment seems to have narrowed. The Mervyns building it's is just too small and the aisles are narrow but all that being said they do a heck of a job!!!

I am SO glad my first experience with crossfit was at F3! If you are at all worried about being intimidated, not being able to keep up, or hurting yourself, you can leave those worries behind if you decide to walk through their doors. At F3 they not only acknowledge that you have a whole life outside the gym, they understand how life is about the whole experience, and how those experiences interplay, and it isn't just about the isolated time you spend with them. Danny set me up initially with one-on-one sessions to not only go over the movements so I would be familiar, but also to correct form so I wouldn't hurt myself. He also talks about goals, not just gym/health goals, but life goals and how your time at the gym can help with those as well. He will also help you identify ways that you might be sabotaging yourself and your fitness efforts without realizing it. They want to help build a strong foundation for you to build your future on, and he has some great tips and motivation for you. Sign up for their newsletter and you will get a taste for what they are all about! Most of my sessions were with Lupe, and let me just tell you how great she is! Not once did I feel intimidated, overwhelmed, or judged in her classes, by her or the others. She is really great about helping each person modify as necessary for fitness level, injuries, etc. and it is not about making it "easier" it is about making it safer while still building the muscle, movement, and skill. And she explains how movements will support other movements, because as much as you may want to do that one movement that looks easy but actually isn't, trying and being defeated by it over and over isn't as effective as building your strength and skills to get there and experience the satisfaction of achieving it. Lupe will get you there. Trust her. She encourages, motivates, and keeps people going. And she always has a smile for everyone. I loved classes with her and everyone else there was great too! The thing that struck me with F3 is that Danny and Lupe genuinely care about their people. They have huge hearts and want to see people realize their own strength and abilities. I couldn't recommend them enough! If you are looking for a little nudge as we approach the new year, I hope this can be it for you!

Imperial Beach CrossFit is an excellent gym with a fun, knowledgeable and caring coaching staff. I have seen them work with athletes who have never lifted a barbell before to elite athletes and be able to cater to them both. They have an awesome indoor/ outdoor area to lift and with the beautiful weather in Imperial Beach I vote to use the outdoor! Danny (owner) keeps the place impeccably clean and has a passion for his members, for Crossfit and for life in general! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Imperial Beach CrossFit is amazing. Danny and his team of coaches have each and every individual coached to their own level. The team feeling becomes a family feeling soon after you start participating. Imperial Beach CrossFit is active in our community with fundraising and pet adoption support. You come in as a stranger and stay for the new family you have become a part of... don't hesitate and call for the workout schedules and check into the free fundamentals classes. Thanks Imperial Beach CrossFit for becoming an integral part of our little beach town!!!!!

I've had an incredible experience here. Through the overwhelming motivation and support of our coaches and community I, like many fellow athletes, have been given the opportunity to reach and surpass my health and fitness goals. If you are looking for a gym, a home away from home, or even just a place to meet great people, this is the place. Doors are always open, new faces are always welcomed!

So, I've been training in a CrossFit mode since 2006, on and off. F3 is the single best place I've ever trained. I've made huge gains to my strength, mobility, and capacity- and I'm not alone. If you're ready to get better at life- in any sense- this is the best place in the South Bay, and maybe in San Diego, to do it, whether you're working out for the first time in your life, or if you have years of experience. Welcoming, kind, motivating, and empowering- those are a few of the adjectives that come to mind.

😠 Worst Gym I've ever been in. I went for personal training with Coach Dan, the only real reason I stayed. Amazing training and wild results! As far as the gym goes though, everything was always broken. In my 4 months going there, the Men's Sauna was working for a week and never available. For th...

👍👍 I've been going to Fitness World for almost 2 years now. The environment at this gym is amazing. There is no ego lifters or people hogging up machines while on their phones for a whole hour, the people are friendly and helpful, as well as the staff. This gym is not like a commercial gym where traine...
