😐 I felt like I had imposter syndrome here. I've been climbing for 5 years, I'm a solid V3.... and I was STRUGGLING on every v1? Like what? Maybe my gym rates higher, but I honestly was watching newbies STRUGGLING HARD on V0s. This doesn't seem right to me. I was travelling alone and didn't get to to... People often mention climbing, Mesa, great, staff, area, walls, climb,

I felt like I had imposter syndrome here. I've been climbing for 5 years, I'm a solid V3.... and I was STRUGGLING on every v1? Like what? Maybe my gym rates higher, but I honestly was watching newbies STRUGGLING HARD on V0s. This doesn't seem right to me. I was travelling alone and didn't get to top rope. Maybe the rope climbing takes the cake. But it was too packed for my liking, and the grades were humbling/discouraging. Pictured is are two "V0s" for reference. A white and a yellow.

The walls an equipment are great, but there’s a culture problem at Mesa Rim. They present a public image that is progressive (they put up posters about bystander intervention, have adaptive offerings for disabled athletes, and have posted gender affirming signs in the bathrooms) but, that said, there is no culture of community care here when it comes to Covid. I climb here multiple times a week and am almost always the only person wearing a mask. It’s clear that the company values profit over heath-I have requested that they create designated times when climbers are expected to wear masks and received no response. It really saddens me to know that this community is only progressive and supportive in a skin-deep way.

Great gym, fun atmosphere, encouraging patrons and attentive employees. I’ve been climbing here for years and it’s been a blast. Often been intimidating stepping into a gym, but never got that feel from Mesa rim. I’ve climbed at the mission valley and the Mira Mesa one. Both are great. Fun and challenging blundering walls, awesome weight lifting equipment, treadmills, this place has it all for me. I’ve really come to enjoy the positive and engaging atmosphere this gym has cultivated.

AMAZING climbing gym! Their walls are super high, the routes are really interesting, the staff is awesome, and the workout area is nicely stocked. Plus, if you're in town for a few days they have a great weekly pass option that's more affordable than multiple day prices. I BADLY wish this was our local gym! We will definitely be back whenever we're in San Diego!

Great climbing gym. Professional staff, and great climbs. I love top roping and these climbs were nice and long with a variety of challenging paths for beginners and advanced climbers.

Wonderful gym with great walls! Super friendly staff that can get you belay certified fast and climbing. Large weightlifting area with squat racks and free weights. Big bouldering area. Routes were fun and well set. Loved it.

This gym membership has been worth every penny. It gets crowded during peak hours, but if you can avoid the crowds it’s great. I also like the fitness classes there. My instructor Darwin was super knowledgeable and he even took time after class to teach me some exercises for injury prevention. If you’re looking for a trainer, I highly recommend Darwin at Mesa Rim Mission Valley

Just recently joined and couldn’t be happier. Gym is very inclusive for every walk of life and everyone here accepts everyone for who they are and I love it. Staff is extremely helpful. I have been climbing in about 8 years and I was extremely intimidated at first but the staff was super helpful and eased me back into climbing. People from work now want to come and try it. Highly recommend it.

Good combination of bouldering, TR, and lead climbs. Has a spacious airy feeling. I sometimes use the upstairs to get work done as well. Friendly staff too. If they just partnered with a rotating food truck situation I'd probably live there.

Fantastic gym for serious climbers. Consistent route rotation. High quality climbs. Staff has always been pleasant to interact with, for me. My main qualm is cost of the membership. It's also a bit cramped inside. I use the weights area heavily, but it's clearly not a priority for the gym.

Came to San Diego for a few days and found this gym to keep up with climbing. They have a decent price for a weekly membership which is perfect for people who are just visiting but planning to climb for a few times. The grading is a little bit harder than my local gym (maybe it’s just me not used to the route setters’ style) and quite rough on the fingers and skin. I’d love to see some more technical boulders, maybe a little bit more slabs. Overall a very good gym!

Love this place! Well worth the membership. They change up the routes in a reasonable time frame so always new routes to climb. My only complaint on this location compared to Mira Mesa location is the locker room and showers are smaller and there is no sauna. But that doesn't change my rating, just an opinion.

Mesa was always my favorite place to practice yoga, so when I was ready to take the next step in my Yoga journey, participating in my 200 hour there was a no brainer. The instructors were/are so kind and knowledgeable. I learned so much about myself, anatomy, and community, among other things. If you are interested in yoga teacher training, do consider Mesa Rim.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you, Sabian, for showing us around and helping us signing up! Fun routes. Looking forwards to trying them out. Have to make reservations to climb. Walk in without reservation available Monday-Friday before 1:30pm.

Grate climbing gym. Super high walls, cool routes. Lots of nice people, very nice stuff. Includes good work out area, chilling area, you can work on your laptop. Cool bouldering. Everything is clean and maintained, good lighting. This gym truly deserves highest mark.

I Love this gym. Definitely one of the best out here for sure. Staff is friendly and the place has a lot of features to have fun on. Free training classes to get on to their bigger walls which I also appreciated because it’s a bunch of fun.

Great atmosphere, something for everyone and all skill levels. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The climbing gym members are always supportive of each other, when someone completes a difficult climb or move or even just barley miss something you often hear someone cheer for them or encourage them.

Mesa Rim in Mission Valley has been my home gym for a few years now, and it's been so cool to see it grow and change! The community here is top notch 🥰 and you'll find someone to help you in every area of fitness expertise related to climbing. Honestly, the quality and variety of yoga alone is worth the membership! Whether you're a beginner or working on leading that 5.13 project in the prow, go climb Mesa!

This is a good gym with a ton of different ratings and grades. I'm visiting SD but I have to concur with the ratings talking about how sand bagged the boulder ratings are. The 2's are 3-3+other places. The 3s feel like 4's, the 5's are absolutely 6-6+ elsewhere. With all this being said, you'll have a great time if you just target 1-2 grades below where you've been climbing. Definitely a gym that models outdoor grades much better than any other.

The showers are boiling hot even on the lowest setting or there is no hot water. No in between. Please turn down the water heater setting. Unusable as a gym because of this.

Absolutely amazing place. So worth it. The facilities are amazing, and on top of that--the staff was so very kind and inviting to us. I had a large group of folks with me, and we were too late to participate in a scheduled class, AND David went out of his way to still teach us the skills we needed to know to get the most out of our experience. He's a great teacher, very reassuring. Shout out to David and Bianca from the front desk (who shares my name) :) We ended up having such an amazing time, I know our group will be back.

😠 The sales pressure for customers is so real. It is the commission of the fitness managers and district managers that matters. I was signed up for a year contract with personal trainer with a verbal disclosure that I was only signing up for a trial of a day and if I don’t like it I can cancel anyti...

😠 So during Covid-19 the gym suspended everyone’s account so that you’re not being charged for something you’re not using which i thought was great. 😠 I’ve been a member since early 2019 and the coaches and staff are EXCELLENT! This negative review has nothing to do with any of the coaches. It is about the facility and the ownership. There is a PREDATORY CANCELLATION POLICY!!! I have fulfilled my 2 year contract with them and am on month to month....

👍👍 Super chilled and well equipped gym. The amount of floor space is impressive, the gym is huge and has pretty much every machine you would need.
